What a cool store/place! The space here at Roland Sands in interesting and fun. They have a storefront where they sell some of their gear and products, but the majority of this space is filled with design offices and a warehouse in the back to host events/work on custom motorcycles. I came in on a day when Roland Sands was hosting a huge motorcycle event with vendors and Born-Free so it was unusually busy and eventful. Luckily, I got there right when they opened at 9a.m. so I was out of there before it got too busy. Michael was working the front at the time when I was here and he was awesome. He checked in on my hubby and I here and there to see if we needed any help and made some recommendations on style and fit. There was no pressure at all to buy and I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for a leather jacket - they make really nice ones here for women and men! I feel bad that for a year now I've been totally sleeping on this place and it's only 1 block away from my favorite coffee shop in LBC. My friend Wes and I went for their monthly Whiskey and Cigars. Not only was Jay a stellar host, he shared many similar hobbies to Wes and I (Motorcycles, Watches, Cigars). He chatted with us off and on for 2+ hrs straight and allowed us a small tour of the RSD buildings. He also gave us awesome bits of history and was just overall a friendly guy. The retail space is pretty great and they're consistently adding new gear. Parking was plentiful for cars and motorcycle. It was a great vibe. Hoping to make it a monthly weekend trip here going forward. Great experience, Great Staff and a Great time. Thank you again Jay and Team! read more

Dan at RSD was very cool and super friendly to us. I'm not surprised, because I had the same experience the year before. Im from Santa Cruz and make it a tradition to stop in when I'm in town for Supercross (A2) on my birthdays. It's just the camaraderie I've discovered since becoming part of the motorcycle community. I'm late to the game, but instantly connected to racing of all types. It's nice to see the baggers and superhooligan bikes up close. Stopped in with the family this morning. Wasn't sure what to expect. Greeted by Michael when we walked in. Michael made our family feel at home. Offered my wife coffee, talked with my son about hockey. Toured the shop. Was in ahh of the custom bikes and craftsman ship. Then, back down stairs to try on clothing. Great selection of new designs not shown on the website. Michael was kind to advise on sizing and fit as well as deals and sales. What a great experience. 3 years ago, I purchased a RSD Ronin jacket, and I have absolutely put it through its paces. Rain, sun, sleet, and hail - this jacket has seen it all. Recently, I noticed that the sleeve zips were coming unsewn, and the liner had two small tears. I contacted customer service, and spoke primarily with Rob, the Director of Product. He was extremely helpful and communicative, and once I supplied pictures of the damage to the jacket, RSD warrantied the jacket, and shipped me a replacement. As I had a few remaining questions, another representative, Michael, reached out to me via phone. He answered all my questions, helped me through the warrantee process, and was extremely knowledgeable about the RSD product line, even including past discontinued products from many years ago. We had an excellent conversation, and it's apparent that Michael not only knows the product line like the back of his hand, but also genuinely cares about his customers. He embodies the old adage of 'for riders, by riders.' It's so common these days for companies to ignore customers, or contract call centers to deal with issues, or utilize automated systems instead of living customer service representatives. RSD stands out because they take the time and care to communicate personally, and because of this, along with their extremely high-quality products, I will absolutely continue to get my gear from Roland Sands Design. read more

Roland Sands Design ( to me ) is one of the coolest brands / builders in the motorcycle business. Having the " too cool " attitude is almost what I expected I visited here... I was pleasantly surprised that I got the complete opposite experience. My GPS directions brought me to the back of the shop, so I called to see where I was supposed to enter the store. I was greeted and showed through the service area ... got to peak at their show / race bikes ( so cool !!! ). The showroom was very neat and organized... so much cool stuff to see in a small space. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jay ( I believe, I'm horrible w names ) ... such a great experience overall. I bought a sweet t-shirt to remember this great experience by! All I can say is, "Wow!". And not for the reasons you'd expect. I was in town on business and got off early. I decided to pick up my little 10 year old nephew. We went out for ice cream and I had the idea of visiting RSD with him - realizing it was only 25 minutes away. A great little retail store with a ton of eye candy for a motorcycle nut. I expected to be wow'd by the bikes, parts and all the cool apparel. However, the staff is what truly exceeded my expectations. Megan came out and handed me and my nephew some small items for visiting. This was a great! I am not sure who was more excited, me or my nephew! Not long after, Megan reemerged from the back and asked if we would like to see the workshop. Of course we immediately jumped on the opportunity! Megan and the team showed us many of the custom bikes, both RSD's and some customer's rides, including a BMW they're starting to work on for the lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers! We also enjoyed taking a close look at the flat track hooligan bikes - I've seen these bikes race in Oregon and they're a lot of fun. But is doesn't end there. Megan then paraded out Cameron, a hooligan racer for the RSD team! Cameron talked about the bikes, racing and even acted interested in my anecdotes - a real class act. We left the workshop, I purchased a shirt and we thanked the staff for their hospitality. The shop and showroom were amazing and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I will be back, I will go out of my way to support their racing, and I will encourage people to visit and support RSD. Thank you! read more

Just had to stop by to say "I've been there." Pretty small retail place, but exactly what you'd expect. Very clean and a lot of cool parts of course. T-shirts and other branded items are all top notch and priced exactly as I'd expect. I bought a $30 T-Shirt. All there shirts are of that soft combed cotton, perfect for under a jacket. Roland Sands Designs custom Sportsters completely changed my perspective on Harleys. I loved the designs so much I went out and bought a Sportster even though I thought I had become a devout Ducatisti. Lucky for me, I'm just down the coast from Roland's shop. The store itself is not very big and I would like to have seen more products displayed but they do have some pretty cool eye candy. The staff was very helpful and friendly and I was even invited to the back of the shop to check out the bikes I drool over online. You should probably change the timeframe of when you're open because this is the 2nd time I've attempted to come into your store on a Saturday and it's been closed when your website says you're open. I called and spoke with someone yesterday and they told me you'd be open today but when I arrived (at 1:45pm) the door was locked. Super annoying and unprofessional. read more

"Zero" Response from RSD Apparel. Bought a jacket about a 2 years ago, and one of the rivets on the sleeves has already broken. And now the seam on the front of the jacket is coming undone. I've had motorcycle jackets that were half the cost, last 3xs as long. The style is great, but the quality, in my opinion, not so much. The reason for this post is the quality of the response back when I had a simple question about how or where I could get the rivet on the jacket repaired. I know I can go to any good leather shop, but I was interested in what they might recommend. I even sent a photo of the issue. I got "zero" response back. I wouldn't recommend or purchase another product. Here's my original email sent out this on April 27th.... -- Morning I've attached a photo from my RSD jacket that I purchased a few years back. Followed Rolands racing career many years. Tough, quality competitor, and I hoped his design and clothing work would follow the same thinking. You can see by the photo that the rivet/snap on the sleeve has already busted off. Pretty disappointed to see this happen after a only a few years worth of wear and tear. So my question. The rivet/snap. I'd like to get "the" same one to replace the busted one. Match the jacket, etc. Maybe this was a fluke, one bad piece out of thousands of good ones? Can you point me in a direction where I can purchase the piece, and I'll fix it myself. Thanks read more

If you're looking for leather motorcycle goods Roland's is definitely worth checking out. This retail location is actually also their headquarters where they build bikes and design all the hard parts and apparel. They have a nice selection of high quality jackets and gloves that look great and are actually functional for riding. Jay the store manager is also really nice and helpful, if you ask nicely maybe he'll give you a tour of the shop! read more

Ordered RSD pipes from a local dealer. RSD gave us a 9/30 delivery date. Bike was striped and ready for the pipes by 9/30. Between 9/30 and 10/27 numerous calls and emails from the dealer and me went unanswered. Today they said 11/20. I cancelled the order. Putting on a set of Reinhardts. Which was my original choice until I was talked into this mess. It appears from other reviews they don't have much regard for customer expectations even when mutually agreed on. They just do their own thing. read more

These guys are will to help before they get their money, but when they send you the wrong size bolts don't expect these guys to help. It's quite annoying when you spend $700 dollars on a pair of rearsets and get wrong size hardware. read more

I emailed the RSD apparel department with a warranty claim and received a response in about 20 minutes. I feared the problem I was having was outside the scope of the warranty, but was so pleasantly surprised when Tracey from the apparel department offered a product replacement. Every time I emailed, she replied within an hour or so. I was very happy with the product to begin with, there was just an issue I couldn't live with, so I was very impressed to get a brand new one. I have the Clash Jacket (product in question), the Boss two up seat for Harley touring(made by Mustang), and a pair of Ace gloves and I am extremely happy with all of them. I ride everyday and their gear is comfortable and stands up well. I will continue to buy from this great company again and again. Thank you so much! read more

I actually went to their shop in Seal Beach when I needed a ramp to load my bike into a truck that I had just bought. I was expecting to buy a ramp but this guy there (can't remember his name) loaned me their shop ramp and took nothing as collateral....just my word that I would return it. I returned it and he gave me a tour of the whole shop. I'm a fan for life now. What a collection of beautiful bikes! read more

I am having the the worst experience with Roland Sands Design and their distributors. I am customizing my Harley and wanted to buy their vintage gas tank for my fuel injected bike. It comes in a three-piece kit: a tank, a backbone and a fuel injector bracket. Cost for kit is $1,700, not cheap because I am not wealthy. I bought the fuel injector bracket first and about three weeks later tried to buy the tank and back bone with no luck. I tried distributors and Roland Sands, and the only help anyone would offer was the suggestion to sell my bracket on ebay and order the complete kit. They don't have a tank to sell me separately but they have one for me if I buy the complete kit. That is just crazy. I even bought a tank from another company, but it wouldn't work so I had to sell it. I tried returning the bracket so I can purchase, the complete kit but the distributor would not help, even with the receipt. It has been almost five months, and now I am stuck with a $500 part I can't use. I can't even use my old tank because I sold all my old parts for this build. I can't believe they want me pay $ 1,700 and buy something I already purchased from them. I bought the part at Road Rider Motorcycle Accessories in San Jose, CA, and tried to get them to accept a return and then credit the difference towards the $1,700 but no luck. I have spent thousand of dollars there. Roland Sands website even shows the tank and back bone being offered there for carbuerated and fuel-injected, but when you try to order it doesn't give you the option to pick which of the two you want. These guys rock. I have RSD apes,grips,risers,wallet and gloves. Anyway, I had an issue with my gloves, button popped off,, zipper broke. They weren't new by any means, but didn't have many hours at all on them. I bypassed the retail warehouse they were bought from as I didn't have proof of purchase. I sent them a pic of the gloves and just said I was a bit dispaointed. Anyway, I got an email from Amy at HQ today and she kindly arranged a new replacement pair for me.( posted to Australia)I nearly fell off my chair. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that. I'm so impressed. I'm going to buy a RSD aircleaner and fuel cap next pay day. I'm seriously impressed, RSD customer for life, I won't ever replace my Langlitz jacket, but will definitely buy anything else they sell.its really restored my faith in the industry.
