Brian is not only a phenomenal bootmaker, but he is a master of design and aging. His craft and design is genuinely unparalleled. This is coming from someone who has a lot of experience with him and his process, as I have 4 boots from him (3 custom boots made for me and 1 second hand). As far as vintage Americana goes, no one can match his design, lasts, and style. His finesse with balancing weight, curves and angles on boots and creation designs meant to change and evolve with wear show deliberate and deep intention and thought. How many things do you have that you can say are beautiful when new, but actually bloom into something even moreso as they get older and wear is put on them? These boots are just that. I am attaching some examples of my boots new and aged to show you the magnificent evolution his work goes through with thoughtful wear. These boots are not a cheap purchase, so with anything at this price point I would say do your research and beforehand and know the process before ordering. Be clear about what you want, and you will get it. If there is a mistake, Brian will fix it. He is one of the most genuine and honest guys I've ever met, and a pleasure to be a patron of. Anyone who pays $200+ for a resole should expect high-quality material and craftsmanship. However, I just found out Brian uses cheap foam fillers instead of leather filler. This tells me he is ok with cutting corners and betting on one would ever find out. I only found out about this because I decided to get Gregor Blu at the Northern Republic to rebuild my boots. I am disappointed by Brian's craftsmanship and lack of transparency. From the following pictures, you can clearly see the horribly cut foam hidden away by Brian's prideful hand-welt. No wonder my boots were creaking as if I am a rusted tinman. You should think twice before being carried away by his resole videos. When I confronted Brian about him using foam fillers, he told me that he never advertised using full-grain leather filler. On the other hand, nowhere on his website, videos, or social media disclose the option between having foam filler or leather filler. Brian, at the price tag of $200+ resole, it is expected that any honest cobbler would use leather filler. After many emails asking him for a refund, he only offered "free rebuilt along with a video documenting the process" and saying it is the best he could do. If I didn't send my boots to another cobbler, Brian would have never been caught using cheap foam. You really should ask yourself, is Brian a trustworthy craftsman? Can you really trust Brian with your boots? read more

I first came across Brian's cobblers skills by his videos on YouTube. I was fascinated by his craftsmanship and style. What kept me watching was his humbleness and his attention to detail. I had some Red Wing 875's that needed some work, then made an appointment to see him (2/2020). I opted for Role Club 1/2 soles & low block heels, 360 degree stormwelt, brass eyelets and a new footbed. I got my boots back (4/2020), so it took about 8 weeks to complete. He's a one-man-wrecking crew, so I didn't mind the wait. I was beyond STOKED when I got 'em back. I'm very happy with what Brian did to my boots, and will go to Role Club again for my next resole... and one day get a pair of Boondockers or some Lace To Toes! read more

This is bar none the best place to get quality leather shoes and boots made in Los Angeles, and is in competition for best in the country. Brian takes an old world approach to making bespoke leather footwear. He is a true one man operation, using only the highest quality materials and putting 40+ hours of labor into each pair he makes. Did I mention he does 100% of the work by hand? Brian offers several different styles that are made to measure, including engineer boots, chukkas, a new derby shoe, and now lace up boots, however he is capable of making anything that you can think of. I'm fortunate to own both a custom pair of shoes and western-inspired lace up boots which Brian made absolutely flawlessly. They are infinitely more comfortable than any other leather footwear I've owned over the years which owes itself entirely to Brian's painstaking attention to detail when creating your individual last. Brian will also resole any boots or shoes that can be deconstructed and will make them fit and look better than they ever have. As far as price goes, I will say flat out Brian's work isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination. That said, if you truly care about quality craftsmanship, it is absolutely 100% completely worth it. YouTube videos and online photos show excellent completed products. Really wanted to write a 5 star review, but seriously disappointed when I received my boots back. One of the shanks is offset by 3/4" and different color heel leather was used for each boot. I contacted Brian, being these were a brand new never been worn pair of boots, which came out very different from what Brian presents via multimedia. I was told to mail my boots back to dye the sole and heel, if I wasn't happy. I wasn't pleased at all, especially since I referenced a specific Alden Penny Loafer full leather resole video in our email correspondence, providing an expectation prior to a final price being provided. I have $614 invested in a pair of boots that look unfinished. I will not be a repeat customer. read more

Stellar job. There is a reason Role Club and Brian are becoming so well known, he does a great job and is so passionate about his work. I brought him a pair of very special redwing Chelsea's that I have had for 7 years. Soles were completely worn to leather and I didn't know how salvageable they were. He told me I could use the original welt or have a new one put on so I opted to reuse the original. They look like brand new boots and wear MUCH better than the original redwing lug sole. I used the original welt, with the role club split sole, dark leather and black rubber. Price was $165 out the door. Worth every penny. read more

Absolutely the best boot maker/ cobbler I've found. Brian altered the annoying jeans catching pull-loops on my Viberg's to a flat configuration. Flawless alteration. I've owned many boots over the years but this was the first time getting a pair resoled. I took in a pair of Wolverine 1000 mile boots that I've had for a couple years that I wear when riding my motorcycle. The leather bottoms were always a tad slippery on the streets and it was finally time to take them in. I asked that Brian add the thinnest rubber sole he could and add a steel shank. The boots are better than brand new. The work done was excellent. The sole is thin enough to give me the feel I want in the boots and the steel shank really firmed up the foot bed. I wouldn't hesitate to take another pair in to him and will definitely be telling friends about the quality and service he provides. read more
