Accidental cleaners is always greeted me at the front desk with smiles, very polite and I seldom have had to wait more than a couple minutes. I bring everything from my suits, to even every day clothing and they have it back to me within a matter of 2 to 3 days looking beautiful. I've also bought my alterations, shirts and pants, and they've even been able to repair favorite shirt of mine, that's about 15 years old and the long sleeve began to wear out. Okay so I am excited to write this review. For me personally when it comes to service & businesses I am very proud to spend my money with black & brown businesses especially! This cleaners is latino owned & I am so proud of that but not only that The service is amazing! It's like the 5 star cleaning service!!! They even text you to come get your clothes but not annoying! I am 100% over this Dry cleaners. I only came here because it's nearby. However whenever I deal with the older gentlemen here, I feel incredibly frustrated. He up charges sooooo much. I asked to have my backpack repaired, it was simple, 3 inch rip in the seam. He was trying to charge $25, then to clean it $45. Ridiculous. The repair wouldn't have even taken 5 minutes to complete. My usual guy that handles my dry cleaners needed to settled some family affairs and so he shared with me that he was going to be out for a while. Naturally, I began looking at highly rated cleaners that was along my commute. Occidental Cleaners came in with glowing reviews and while there are other cleaners I could have went to, this was most convenient at the time. Initially the service was fine, but that deteriorated later down the line. She had difficulty spelling my name and taking down my number, and mind you I was patient and understanding, while at the same time trying to break it down as slowly as possible. I had about 5 shirts, a hoodie, a jean jacket, and a small repair that needed to be made on a cotton shirt. That total was around $95.00. I was just floored, anywhere else this would have been no more than $60-$70 (if that), but this just seemed unnecessarily high. I'm not one to fuss over prices, I was there the clothes needed to get cleaned, so I paid it. I come back a few days later, and the lady at the counter can't find my items. She's now talking to me in this manner that's like disbelief that I dropped my clothes there at all. This was on me, I misplaced my receipt and thought that they would be able to draw up my order via my name and number. I go through and ransack my car to find the receipt and bring it to her, just to find out that she misspelled my name and wrote down the wrong number. But wait it gets even funnier. Once she gathers my clothes, she tells me that she charged me the wrong amount on one of my clothes by like $5.00, and that she needs me to pay for that. Of course I'm also hit with a .50 cent charge because I'm using my card. For this flagrant lack of detail and negligence, especially if I'm paying now $100.00 for work that wasn't even beyond the common standard of dry-cleaning, I had to give this establishment this rating. If I find the receipt, I'll make sure to update it with the name of the lady that was up front. Overall, I would avoid, overcharging in this market is just bad business. The reason this has any stars at all is for the workers who actually did clean and repair my clothes, but the service makes this place untenable to go to. read more

Please don't go this place , once they see I brought designer items they overcharge me $220 for only 3 items , I can't wear my $5k worth coat because they turned from white color to yellow, my tote bag was discolored.And my Dior shoes wasn't even cleaned good. I trusted this place but they had no manners , when I called for manager she yelled at me , I really regret I didn't call cops , this place should be closed for not doing they're job . I've lived in Marina del Rey, DTLA, Venice and Culver City over the years and by far the best service I've ever experienced is at Occidental Cleaners. For example, they never hang your merino wool jumper a wire hanger where the shoulder seams can stretch. They add little bits of crinkly paper as if you're opening up a brand new sweater. Your dress shirts never get stretched out, always treated with care. And often times, they always greet you with a warm hello. Keep up the good work! read more

Two $500 Burberry button-up shirts were damaged at Occidental Cleaners. I hope those that read this review don't simply dismiss it thinking it's just another Karen who had a rare but unfortunate experience at Occidental Cleaners. I did not want to write this review, and I hesitated for a few days, but the purpose of Yelp is to be as honest as possible and to help other Yelpers have an appropriate assessment of businesses. Of the 120+ Yelp reviews I've written, only five are one-star. I've been coming to Occidental Cleaners for over three years. Even though I don't live in this area, I still drive out of my way to go here because I treasure the thought of supporting local, family-owned businesses and, of course, because I've gotten to know some of these family members over the years. However, I recently bought two $500 Burberry button-up shirts for a dry-cleaning service. I've had these dry-cleaned before in New York City, New Haven, and South Korea and never had a damage problem. However, when I brought them here, and upon checking post-cleaning, I noticed 19 out of the 22 buttons (11 buttons on each shirt) were damaged. Some were severely chipped (half of it fell off), and some were just mildly chipped. I later found out it was because they did not put tinfoil on the buttons to prevent them from being damaged in the machine with the chemical solvent. It's unfortunate because these are expensive dress shirts, but I'm not going to complain and cause a scene demanding a replacement. After all, that would cost them $1000. I told them since the white shirt (I only have the blue shirt pictured since the white shirt is currently at a professional designer repair shop) is white, and you can't tell the buttons are chipped from far, I'll forget this ever happened and move on, but if you can, please fix the blue shirt. Well, they tried. They replaced four of the eight broken buttons on the blue shirt (they claimed they didn't have more buttons), but again, I didn't budge to ask for more since I thought these were good people and it was an honest mistake. A few weeks later, those buttons started to become very loose and come off. I went back for another dry clean, and this time, they wanted to charge me twice the price for the dry clean and had the audacity to ask for more money if I wanted the buttons replaced. I got, understandably, upset, and the younger lady there started to accuse me of damaging these myself (why would I do that to $500 dress shirts?) and that they couldn't help me. The photo attached is how I received it at the dry cleaners last week. Four buttons were missing, and if I wanted them replaced, I had to pay "more money" and wait "up to weeks" for them to find the buttons in Downtown LA. If you look at the top two buttons in the picture, the one on the bottom is black and just a generic button without any engraving, unlike the one on top (the original). Without even asking, they've removed the blue buttons and put on black, constantly telling me that it looks good this way (imagine walking into a restaurant and half of your buttons are black with no engraving, and the other half are blue, half-chipped, and says "Burberry" on it). I will leave an updated review if anything changes. As of now, I took home the white shirt and kindly asked them to "find" the replacement buttons if they could. They kept telling me it would be "nearly impossible," but who knows. Another note: Many others have had similar experiences with damages. I don't want to accuse this business of ill-intent, but I did hear that they remove some of their negative reviews. Yikes. read more

Ive been coming here for a few years, and always had a decent experience and often recommend their business. I decided to have them help me repair all the jeans and pants that were ripped this time. Big mistake. When I dropped them off in person, I said all of them needs to be repaired. No cleaning is needed, just repairs. I made sure to tell the guy again and again that only repairs are needed, and we pulled each and every pair of pants out and went through each and every parts that needed to be repaired. I got a receipt and did read everything and counted the pieces to make sure all is covered. Then I received them back. More than half of the pieces were not repaired. Nada. Called, and the lady said it was my mistake for not reviewing the invoice they sent that specifically said dry cleaning were done and some pants were not marked as needing repairs. Wait what?? No, my "invoice" aka the initially receipt did not say "dry cleaning" on it. And I guess she said it's my fault for not knowing what the pricing meant on the receipt ("invoice") even after I already went there four times?!!! All my previous experiences were for clean and fold, not repairs. So if I got a receipt that doesn't say the additionally pricing were for cleaning, like it didn't specifically mark as "cleaning", how would I know it meant it's a cleaning fee and not a piece rate for repair?! I would not have asked them to clean my antique silk pants because they are old and already kind of damaged, and I told the guy who received my order, again, that only repair is needed. And guess what, they cleaned it. She said the chemical they used could cause further damage and they're just following what the invoice said. But I specifically said only repair was needed! Shouldnt they know to let the customer know if that could happen ahead of time?! (Granted I didnt even ask for it to be cleaned in the first place.) Now my over 100yrs old antique pants has new holes that now they said it's unrepairable. These all in some way could have been fine as now I learned that even when the receipt is not clear, the additionally pricing are not piece rate, they are actually cleaning rate (they should have labeled it more clearly). But what really really disappointed me is the fact that they did not apologize for the confusion, and refuse to work with me on correcting the issue that they clearly marked incorrectly in their system. Told me I should know better when the fact is that it was never clear to me what the not labeled pricing meant. I just thought they were part of the repair cost. Then told me that I need to bring them back in and pay the additional repair fees and wont refund me the cleaning that I never asked for. She kept arguing with me and said I should know better and the invoice clearly labeled the dry cleaning was needed. But none of the texts showed "dry cleaning" on my end. Those words were not in any form of invoicing I received. They also never called me to let me know that my order was ready as the guy said they would, and I need to give them a payment option since I did not leave a payment on file. I had to call myself to check in to find out as I thought it was on file. This last part is minor, but kinda adds to the already bad experience. Im not rich. I waited for a while before I had enough money to bring these to them. Trusted them enough to not care much about how much they'll be charging me (guess it's "my fault" for not asking what the not clearly labeled pricing were for). $160.50 later, got back 3 jeans not repaired when there's clearly holes in the crotch, 1 green pants also with crotch hole not patched up, a damaged antique pants, and additional cleaning done when cleaning was specified as not needed. Overall, I feel very much gaslighted about the whole situation and sadly would not ever go back again. I loved them, but this is just ridiculous with how badly they communicated (communication is what really caused the issue). The service attitude was very disappointing. If the customer is wrong, sure, you can correct them as I think it's fair, but dont correct them when it's obviously their fault for writing down the wrong things for the order, and not label pricing as clear as they should have on the "invoice", as she kept stressing I should have known better. I would say, give them a chance if you want. My passed experiences with them were all very great but they were simple tasks. They were friendly and sweet enough. But for more complicated tasks, be very mindful and have everything spelled out enough. Ask to triple, quadruple check the invoice showing on their computer screen, NOT on the physical "invoice"(receipt) or the text "invoice" you get (the physical and text "invoices"/receipt were identical). Even when you think you already expressed what you needed to be done, it could be a messy and honestly really really disappointing ending. read more

This place is great. I come here about every 4-6weeks for alterations and they are very fair in price. Love that the staff is so friendly and remember my husband and I. Recently went to check out their leather cleaning. I didn't think this bag was going to be able to come back to life but they really impressed me. The after pictures have a yellow tint due to bad lighting but I'm very happy with the shade of pink they achieved. They called me about a week after drop off saying the bag was ready and cleaned but they recommend the bag be painted. At first I was weary but they did a good job in building my confidence with that decision and I'm happy I did. It's been some time since this renewal and the bag still looks great.
