When I walked in he was talking with a customer that had a few clocks; either selling them or repairing them. The owner stopped what he was doing and changed my watch battery. So, I may have overpaid, but this was the easiest thing ever. No wait and no dropping it off and returning another day. Super fast service. Sure, I could have figured it out with YouTube and a cheap battery, but it's done and I don't have to fuss with it.

I took in a wedding ring crown that has 5 diamonds on it since I had lost one of the diamonds. Upon bringing it in, Josh let me know they could fix it and was already bagging it up without even giving a quote. I then asked for a quote since I'd gotten one from the original maker of the ring. I had let him know the quote he gave which was $390-425 was higher than what they quoted. But ultimately decided I'd rather have it fixed locally than send it out since I didn't want to wait (which I voiced verbally). He took a closer look and said they could do it for $425. I said okay because after shipping costs, it would only be ~$40 more than sending it to the maker. He said okay, and that he'd pick out the diamond today and I'd have it back the following week. 2 full weeks went by before it was ready so I was already a bit annoyed since that was likely the same turn around if I mailed it to the maker! But then when I went to pick it up, the price was $595+tax. I asked why the price difference (and refreshed his memory on our convo at drop off) and he just said okay we can do it for $495. So not only did it take just as long, but in the end after tax I spent over $100 more than what I would have spent if I sent it to the maker.

Been looking for a clock repair shop for awhile and based on the positive Yelp! Reviews thought I'd give him a try. Brought in a mantle clock that I hoped to run. When I walked in with, the gentleman who assisted me told me more about the clock than I knew (American-made, about 140 years old). Alex cleaned and oiled it and gave me a new key to wind it because the old key was stripped. I thought the price was reasonable. Clock bongs away happily now. Alex now is repairing my 50 year old Seiko wrist watch after figuring out what had worn out. Can't wait to get it back. Alex is a man of few words but knows his clocks and watches. Based on the foot traffic when I've been there, I'm not the only one who trusts his expertise. One comment: cash or check only.
