After a lovely sunny coffee date at Hub, a sweet treat was definitely the way to go, and Rolled Mountain Creamery had everything delicious! They have a large menu of premade flavor combos that are sweet and chocolately or fruity or you can build your own. I got a coffee flavored combo with espresso ganache and toffee bits and my boyfriend got a maraschino cherry flavor combo with chocolate sauce and mini choco chips! Fun ice cream place in Reno close to the river. We got there around three on a Saturday and had a wait, we soon discovered it's because the ice cream is so labor-intensive. Every one is made to order, starting with either a cream or oat milk base. Lots of recommendations to choose from or you can make your own. It was fun to watch them make it I had the cappuccino and my husband the Kooky dough. It was fun and the ice cream tasted good but at 9 bucks each I wouldn't make it a habit. It's been years since I have been in here with my kiddos. We came in for a sweet treat this past weekend. Cold treats are the only thing that sound good these days. On this trip we ordered a peanut butter bomb, cookies n cream with gummy worms and a yam bam for myself. My toddler loved the show of watching the rolled ice cream be made. I did pick up a few other treats from Dorindas because why not?! Sea salt caramels and caramel popcorn were perfect for a movie night in. Really cute ice cream shop. My kids have been watching rolled ice cream on YouTube and have been dying to go to one. It is connected to Dorinda's chocolate shop with is cute. The staff were 3 young men who were nice and welcoming. Excited to see us which was nice. We ordered 3 ice creams, peaches n cream, cherry and coffee. All were really good and reasonably priced ( about 8.50 each). It's not as creamy as cold stone or other ice cream places but still good. TL DR: if you're lactose intolerant, the only alternative as a base is oat milk. I've learned today I'm not a fan of oat milk rolled ice cream, I miss their coconut milk base. Their service is exceptional. I had one of the friendliest and most patient staff members explaining all of the options and seasonal flavors. (Please consider tipping them for their hard work.) If I had to rate this place based on service alone no question it's a 5/5! The taste of the ice cream is what brought my rating down. Service: as stated above the service at this location was exceptional ! She was so patient and kind. It had been a few years since I've been to rolled so I had forgotten how the process works. Because of my lactose sensitivity I asked her what flavors worked and went well. She took the time to explain the options and did it without any sort of attitude or frustration. I also appreciated her honest and well thought out suggestions. 5/5!!! The location is neat, clean, and they have some nice chocolate items for sale. There's no in door seating but I didn't mind the outdoor seating. Taste: I've had oat milk products/ ice cream before and haven't had issues with an after taste. I also like matcha, so I ordered the matcha oat milk rolled ice cream without boba. While the initial taste was okay, I found that there was this weird aftertaste to the ice cream. In terms of sweetness it was a great balance of not being too sweet, but I couldn't get past that aftertaste. 2.5/5 I thought the price was also a little steep. I had some rolled ice cream a few weeks ago in Canada and it was about half the price. But I am aware that they're in different markets, countries, and have different suppliers. Also inflation, so I can't fault them for that. If you're seeking a more traditional ice cream or gelato price point wise that would be a better option. However a major pro is their plant based vs milk based is at the same price point! That's very considerate! Overall, I don't think I would go back for their oat based products. Something tasted a little off and I just couldn't put my finger on that aftertaste...Maybe I'll try their ice cream with a lactase pill (milk based product) in the future. read more

It is in the middle of this complex where the businesses look like homes. Outside seating, not sure if there was a bathroom...? Street parking. They also own Dorinda's Chocolates. Rolled ice cream. I had no idea what it could be. Ice cream that is rolled into a flat disc. I was surprised to find out exactly what this novel item actually is. My wife and I stopped by Rolled Mountain Creamery and tried out the rolled ice cream. I ordered chocolate and peanut butter. The owner of Rolled Mountain Creamery was on the floor and we were the next recipients of this tasty treat. I hope to tell you, this was not a disappointment. He took the dry ingredients and ground them on the frozen stainless steel block. That was interesting and then I saw him take liquid cream and pour that onto the block. It only took a few seconds before it was frozen. With a putty knife, he scraped the frozen block and the ice cream concoction was peeled up into small rolls. Novel, yes. Tasty, yes. Will I come back again? Yes. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. It tasted great, it was fun watching it being made. I was happy. read more

I've heard about Rolled Mountain Creamery for a while now, but due to COVID, we waited to come by. I decided to surprise my daughter on Thursday around 4 pm. There was no wait; we were greeted and helped right away. Two employees helped us simultaneously. They immediately asked us what we would like to order. I mentioned we had never been there before and needed a minute to decide why we would like to. I expected them to offer up a few of their most popular flavors, but that didn't happen. That's okay. My daughter and I went over the menu and had considered a couple of options. I proceeded to ask the employee which ice cream flavors were the top three sellers. The young man replied with Sea Salt Caramel, Cookies N Cream, and Strawberry Sweetcake. My daughter went with the Strawberry Sweetcake and I the Lemon Rasberry. Lemon Raspberry was a lemon blend with crushed raspberries, topped with a raspberry pile. It was so delicious, tasty and gave your tongue a tingle. The lemon and raspberry just pipped together. We didn't receive a raspberry pile on top of the ice cream; instead, we got a slight raspberry juice drizzle. Strawberry Sweetcake included crushed strawberries, graham cracker crumbs, & whipped cream topped with strawberries. The ice cream was also good but not as flavorful as we would have liked. It was a bit bland. It just didn't have the flavor one would expect. They gave me maybe a quarter of a crushed graham cracker on top. There just wasn't any wow factor to the ice cream or process. During the creation of the rolled ice cream, neither employee engaged us. They didn't explain the process and just went to work. They completed the process so fast I couldn't even grab a video of them making our ice cream. I was able to snap a quick shot of her rolling the ice cream. We've been to other rolled ice cream shops throughout CA, and they offer more ingredients, more ice cream rolls that are thicker and not super thin, as well as a fun and friendly experience (this is what my 10year old said as we sat down outside). I do have to say it was a bummer because we were in and out so quickly. The inside is okay, and there are a few tables outside to sit at while you enjoy your ice cream. Will we give them another try? Only two reasons why I would give this place four stars is because of the price (it costs over 18 dollars for two ice creams) and the fact that the rolled ice cream station is not completely cleaned after each ice cream flavor is made so you can taste the previous customers flavor a bit. The rolled ice cream concept is a really cool one as you pick your flavor and type of milk (they have oak milk as an option for those who don't want lactose) and watch them make it right in front of you. I ordered the cookies and cream (oreo) flavor and it was absolutely delicious and definitely worth a try, at least once! The service is also phenomenal - we walked in about 30 minutes before closing and the girl working there was so patient, friendly and helpful! The service was excellent - a bit like dinner and a show. It is pure magic how all the stuff is glopped together on the cold plate mixed, chopped, and swirled and eventually formed into tight clean rolls of icecream. The ice cream was a bit bland for my taste. I ordered Death by Chocolate and the little chunks of chocolate were definitely Dorinda's finest, but the ice cream itself was a bit bland and more like chocolate milk than than rich creamy DARK CHOCOLATE. I think maybe a different flavor may be more to my liking. The space is small but the outdoor seating is comfortable and one of the best spots for people watching. Even though it was a chilly day, sitting in the sun and and eating ice cream was a perfect way to relax and enjoy one of the most beautiful spots in Reno. Will I be back? I have been hearing about this place for a while and decided to check it out when my daughter and I had a bogo coupon. When we arrived there it was a very small, cute ice cream shop. When we checked out the menu we decided to get one fruity flavor and one chocolatey flavor. The two flavors we ended up trying were the signature cherry which has chocolate and cherry chunks and topped with whipped cream and a cherry and the mud pie which has chocolate icecream and crushed oreos with chocolate sauce and sour worms. It was cool watching the girls make our individual rolled ice cream sundaes. They pour cream and the toppings on a frozen surface and mix it all together and then flattened it and the roll it up it and put in your sundae cup. The finished product was definitely Instagram worthy. We went outside to eat our ice cream and we both had a little of each of them. I preferred the mud pie (which I later noticed was missing the sour worms) and my daughter liked the signature cherry flavor better. However, the ice cream way slightly dry/crumbly, and the overall ice cream flavors were muted, with little to no identifiable flavors.
