My favorite chocolate shop in town. I always stop by when I got a little extra money and I sweet tooth.

Bought 5 apples for the family at the Aces game to the tune of $77.41 (which we have no problem paying because their quality is always top notch-until tonight). One of the apples was rotten on the inside, which in turn made the rest of the apple mushy and tainted. My daughter went to see if they would exchange it, and the kid behind the counter said it was fine and to the at it anyways. No exchange, no refund. So as a mom, I felt it was important to go up myself and talk to him. He said it was just fine. He would not refund or exchange. His name was Kian. He clearly doesn't understand the quality of product that this company puts out, and has now lost a long time customer because of his attitude. We will no longer do business with a place that doesn't require their employees to uphold the standard of quality or customer service. read more

Wanted a caramel apple and decided to try the butterfinger caramel apple. I was quite surprised with how good it was especially since I opted to try something new and not get my snickers one. The ratio of caramel to apple to chocolate and the butterfinger was perfect. I also like the chocolate covered cheesecake but in my opinion it's better to let that one sit out a few minutes so the cheesecake is still semi frozen but soft. read more

Jeez, I literally dream of this place. Particularly one thing- their avalanche apple! It is soooooo dang good. This consists of crushed Oreos, marshmallows, rice crispies, different types of chocolate or chocolate chips, u personally think they taste like peanut butter. Pairing that with fruit especially the apple is omg chefs kiss! Love candied apples!! I believe you can also get these avalanche bars by themself. The service was excellent! They give you a sample of fudge, a truffle or anything you are looking for this is why we always make a b line for it! Super friendly and we love love love love their chocolate! I was meeting some clients at the air location and wanted to bring something fun and different and thought I would check out the Rocky Mountain chocolate factory. I was met with the friendliest girl Ever, who was extremely helpful and very passionate about chocolate. We were trying to find a chocolate cat, and she went and looked everywhere but the best we could do this time of year was a bunny which we made work. I was able to pick all different types of chocolates for the clients that I think they'll enjoy. I would say it was the experience mostly but the chocolate was also very good. I'm not someone who can eat chocolate because I'm a diabetic, but they actually had sugar-free chocolate and a whole big section of different things so I bought one of everything. Any orders over $50 get a nice bag with their logo on it and I think we spent about $100. I'll be coming back again. read more

Super impressed with the amount and quality of chocolates and sweet treats that were available when I went in. For starters the marshmallow sticks with Oreo were incredible and I will be coming back for more in the future. They also have a large Dubai Pistachio chocolate bar (the Tik Tok viral one) which was delicious for $25. Yes it's more expensive than chocolate bars from Walmart but the chocolate here is amazing and the care put into the treats is felt. read more

Every year, I ask my husband for chocolate covered strawberries for Valentines Day, and every year, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory fulfills my request with the most delicious, juicy sweet strawberries. This year was no exception. Today, we came in for our usual Valentines Day box of 6, and they were even bigger than last year. Please don't go here... the owner, Greg, just yelled and berated me. Over chocolate covered cherries. Got a big order and picked them up. Took literally one bite of the chocolate and it had a pebble like, non-creamy consistency. I called the shops and a girl picked up the phone I asked her if I could come in and she said the owner and I could talk. I turned my car around hoping for the best, and came back. I said "Hi there!" As I walked in and immediately got this "Obviously we can't make you happy! Nothing is wrong with our chocolate. You can't overcook chocolate!" I replied "can you please explain to me what it look like this? And why the consistency was off?" * tried to Show him white bubbles in the chocolate and pebble like consistency* and he WOULD NOT dare look at them.. "Nothings wrong with them. YOU'RE wrong! and I'm not gonna explain to you. Chocolates cooked at a 100 degrees, cherries cleaned and DIPPED. That's IT! I was the one who made them! And we're not remaking them for you!!!. I read the reviews, appears the owner has issue with proper customer service. Well, on my trip, there was a nice kid in a LA Dodgers cap. Their carmel apples are second to none. Although I have read reviews here with less than raving reviews, I got apple pie and the sprinkle. Both fresh, both perfect. I had also had a peanut crazy marshmellow stick. OMG. Peanuts and marshmellow were FRESH, that thing was the BOMB. Truffles rock it. A little pricey, what can you do. I love this place. As for the reviews. Most allude to the skills of the chocolatier himself. I am a world class baker/confectioner. I make my own candies, just made Chik-o-Sticks last week. If someone I bake for has a suggestion, I use it. My tres leche cake is a perfect example of me listening. Maybe Greg will learn the fine art of listening, and stop doing the one thing a business owner should never do. Alienate anyone. Okay now I know that chocolate literally makes my world go around, I just assume it does the same for everyone else...I just can't help myself! For my birthday my girlfriend got me a box from Rocky Mountain. It had a variety of different chocolates. Wow, I literally hated it and had to spit it out... I'm so not kidding here. Maybe it's me but the turtle type piece tasted like wax and I could tell it was very inexpensive cocoa that was used. The nuts inside tasted extremely bitter too. I literally threw away the entire box...she is not on Yelp so I can post this review a few months after she gifted it to me. I will admit that I am extremely picky about my sweets, I usually don't eat any chocolate from the states only European chocolate only. I have to make my chocolate calories count. I'm reminded it's late and the stores in Virginia City will probably be closed...Darn, he's right! "Where should we go then?" "How about that chocolate store up on the hill?" We called Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory before leaving the house and asked when they closed and were excited to find that they were still open and we still had time to get up there! The store was very very simple for us to find but maybe that's because we have eaten at the neighboring Wing Stop enough times to have driven by the chocolate store multiple times in our ventures. Walking into the store smelled like absolute heaven, and I wanted to buy everything! The first thing I noticed, strategically placed by the front door, was a huge display case of candy and caramel apples...and then I saw other staples like fudge and truffles too. The prices were to be expected with any good chocolate store. Good, homemade chocolates and sweets aren't going to be in the dollar range, you just can't find that anywhere and it was nice to see a peanut and caramel apple priced around 6$ that were big and juicy looking too! I lived in Truckee CA for a while and there was a chocolate store up there that was WAY more pricey than this store. I give four stars only because I do still personally like the caramel at a long standing store in VC more, but these apples are really great when a trip up there just isn't feasible. The young gal who got our apples offered to cut them for us which I'm glad she asked first because I really do enjoy mine uncut and she was very polite. Mmmmmmmmm chocolate! While attempting to kill time while my better half got her hair cut I stumbled in here for some sweet treats. I'm always in the mood for a sweet treat, and I do mean ALWAYS! It helps that she is so easy to please and so simple in her requests- no chocolate of any kind. She loves the fact that they will cut the apples for you so you don't have to chew on them caveman style like you would with a turkey leg! For me, its always all about the chocolate. I decided on some truffles. This is where my mind becomes hazy because I basically went into a comatose state while pointing out the ones I wanted. They have all been delicious and if I remember correctly I got the semisweet, kahlua, orange, champagne, milk chocolate, and a double chocolate. I also got a chocolate dipped marshmallow. The employee was helpful, polite, and happy! I mean that's almost mandatory in a place as sweet as this. We chatted while she boxed everything up. The customer service was fantastic. The prices are pretty close to what you would pay elsewhere if not a little lower. They have a wide variety of caramel apples, truffles, sweet confections, sugar free truffles, fudge, and preboxed sweets. Whenever I find myself over here I always stop in for a little something. Went there on mothers day to pick up some chocolates and couldn't have been more upset. The chocolate didn't taste very good and didn't have that creamy consistency that the chocolate should of had. Great place for sugar overload! They make the chocolate covered strawberries to order, so if that is what you want and don't see them in the case, just ask. They also have $5 frozen chocolate dipped bananas and strawberry sticks. Though I felt like the strawberries tasted like they were previously frozen before being dipped. I went here tonight with my Little from Big Brothers Big Sisters because we wanted to make a Halloween craft and eat a Carmel Apple. I chose this place because I've eaten their apples at fairs like the rib cook off and I've always enjoyed them. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of their awful map location "pins" on Yelp and Google. I had no idea where I was going so I REALLY needed map apps to tell me. I tried THREE different apps to get me there and I finally had to call to determine where they were. I know it's a smallish center but if you have no idea where you're going you cannot rely on the apps to get you to this place. (It puts you by the McDonalds and then says "you have arrived")I'm not sure if it's their address wrong or if the three apps I used but if someone reading this handles it please fix it! We loved our Carmel Apple and enjoyed the setting- we were able to hang out there for an hour or so and the employee made us feel very welcome. It is a little pricy but worth it. read more

I have purchased many items from this store. They have always gone out of their way to make tasty suggestions. The strawberries are to die for and have always been sooo fresh. The truffles are my ultimate favorite. I mentioned once that my father was a diabetic but I wished he could taste their candy. The staff told me they carried candy for diabetics made with different sweetners. My dad loved what I bought for him. The caramel apples are so decorative that I placed a huge order for my wedding. They made apples with bridal gowns and apples with tuxedos. My guests absolutely loved them. I am a very very picky person and found the staff to meet all my very high standards: courteous, experienced, accommodating and creative. The store was clean as a whistle. The display cases had such a gorgeous selection it is always hard to make a small purchase. They can meet all size orders timely and with delicious results.
