They had a walking track above looking down on the rink. The prices were affordable ($5 for students) and the staff was very nice! There were tons of booths. We threw all of our belongings in one and it was the kids home base. Their rentals had skates or rollerblades. Even the arcade games were reasonably priced!

The girl at the desk never provided any information about anything. I did not know I needed quarters for the locker rental, nor did I not know I couldn't wear a baseball cap or have a crossbody bag. As soon as I got on the rink, the attendant told me I had to get off because of my hat. I wasn't upset or anything, I quietly skated off, returned my skates and gathered my belongings. As I was exiting I observed men on the skating rink with beanies on their heads and skull caps. Additionally I observed adults walking on the rink as they were helping their children. I did not know that the rink was also a track. I would think that's a bigger safety hazard than wearing a hat. When I went to the front to inquire about a refund there was a gentleman in front of me who had on a hat and I was tempted to say something to him but I also wanted to see if the clerk would remind him of the hat policy, but she didn't. I don't know if the assumption is that everyone who visits are regulars and know the protocol, but it wouldn't hurt to have signage at the front desk and to also remind the attendants to say something to the patrons.

The outside appearance and the automatic doors is nice, especially if you play hockey or bring your own gear, I can imagine the convenience that offers. Inside though, not much has changed from my childhood from about ten years ago. This is not to say it's bad, but it has that of school family friendly nostalgia. We got there pretty early so the ice was still nice and clean. We left at 12pm, half an hour before the public skate was over and they never brought out the Zamboni. It wasn't super packed but there were a good amount of skaters and the ice had gotten pretty choppy. I would have preferred it to be cleaned but I can understand that maybe it wasn't enough skaters to bring it out. The skate rental itself was very pleasant. They held on to both your shoes. It was actually required but they didn't charge extra for it which I really like. This is much better than at ski lodges where you leave your shoes and boots wherever and hope no one takes them. My friend needed to exchange sizes a couple of times but the attendants were always friendly about that and never seemed annoyed. There is also laser tag here which I have done as a child before Yelp but I didn't partake in that activity to comment on how that experience is, but it's something that can end the night out with the family if that interests you. Overall, old school feeling of a rink that is what it is, a family friendly skating rink where all ages and experience is welcome. Nothing special about it but that in a way is the charm about it. Nice outing or date night here.

Xanadu is still pretty new to Bushwick and honestly such a welcome addition to NYC. Pretty much…read moreevery indoor roller rink in the city closed during the pandemic (except the outdoor rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park), so when this place opened people absolutely lost their minds. Walking in feels like stepping straight back into childhood in the best way possible. Neon lights, funky carpet, bright colors, all the nostalgic roller rink vibes you could want. One thing I really love is that unlike most rinks that only do one adults-only night a week, Xanadu switches to 21+ after 8 PM almost every night. It ends up feeling way more like a nightclub than a traditional roller rink, and you don't have to worry about drinking around kids or dodging little ones flying across the floor. They've also got a concession stand with Frito pies, four different kinds of hot dogs, and plenty of snacks if you need a break. Definitely check the website before you go because this isn't the kind of roller rink where you just show up and pay seven bucks to skate. They host different events almost every night, and each one has its own cover charge. It's usually somewhere between $11 and $25, and can go up to around $33 if there's a musical guest, but honestly it's always felt worth it to me. I've caught some great local performers there along with iconic '90s dance acts like Ultra Naté. Lockers are $5 and you'll need a credit card to use them. I 100% recommend this place whether you're looking for a fun night out, trying to pick up a new hobby, or just want to do something different with friends. I swear once you go and see everyone doing tricks, showing off, and having the best time, you're going to want to come back and learn a few moves yourself. It's great solo, great with friends, and skating is definitely a workout, so be prepared to sweat. Dress cute, but keep it breezy.

Fantastic throwback spot in a super cool section of Bushwick!…read more They put on concerts with their super loud & tight sound system, which also has a cool video wall behind the large stage. For skating, they have a large, oval wooden roller rink floor, just they had in the 70's & 80's all around NYC and the boroughs. Killer DJ's & awesome song selections keep the energy going for both concerts & skating. This is a truly unique spot that's perfect for young kids & everyone else up to their 60's or so. (I'd cut it off after that as it's loud & most Seniors wouldn't like the volume & probably shouldn't be roller skating, unless they really know what they're doing). Love that this place exists - it's MAGICAL!!!
