Email from motel deflecting the fact they are dirty with inverted sloped beds. They have bugs all over the bathroom and
    Mrs W.

This place is dirty. Beds are inverted slopes. Construction on rooms begin at 6:30am. The manager won't care that your back is killing you and you got woken up by construction beginning outside of town ordinance. They also have issues with drug addict locals having overdoses there according to the police I eventually had to call because of the non stop emails and harassment I was receiving after leaving this place. I asked them several times to discontinue emailing me but when they didn't, I had to go to the police. In fact management will shoo you and should you get mad, they will threaten to release any footage of your response to their lack of professionalism, with your personal information. The woman with the neck tattoo is the person who will check you in and or respond to you online in the third person, but you will notice the sharp tone and deflection of errors is patterned throughout anyone with a negative review. They will post your full name and address as I was warned in email. This is completely illegal and blackmail and what they will do once they have the information from your drivers license. They have decided to go forward and pay to have all their positive reviews pushed forward so do yourself a favor and look at the negative reviews and you'll see they all say the same things. If this place took half the effort to clean as they do trying to appear safe to stay in, they wouldn't have to do so much work hiding the truth online. Save your sanity and skip this place at all costs. The person in this email is the person who checked me in. She was nice when I checked in but saw that the bed hurt my back in my review online and blacklisted me before I even checked out. I mentioned in my review I wouldn't be returning so, it wasn't necessary but this place isn't professional, are intent on having the last word even if it's illegal, and will keep all the rooms open even if they need to be shut down for a deep cleaning. Dust all over the room from the air conditioner that they never clean the filter on either. They have three motels in the area. I would highly suggest not going to any of them. Cobmin, Rolling Hills and Sussex motel. Beware.

This is a very dark, dingy, disgusting motel. They are horrible people and refused to refund me even though the water was unusable.

Will say, looked a little shady when we first pulled up, but check in was nice and easy, room was immaculate when we got in. Very quiet area, right off the main road so easy on and off. Everything seemed to be completely re-done inside. Fridge/freezer/microwave, table with chairs gave that homely feel. Beds were comfortable, just very squeaky every time you moved around. The lady who helped us check in was super nice and very responsive with any questions. The bad Booked a room for 2 queen beds, these were 100% not queens. I know they were super busy and booked through with the Nationals in town, so i didnt make a fuss The room stunk like old cigarettes, even though no smoking in the rooms The tub had a massive bubble in it from the wrongly done bath fitter, and i was told about it prior and they have been so busy that they couldnt get anyone out yet to have it fixed. Overall, a solid 2 night stay. I would be back if in town again

DO NOT BOOK THIS MOTEL!!! When you google this motel it shows vacancy through third party booking…read moresuch as Expedia BUT NOWHERE DOES IT DISPLAY THAT THIS MOTEL IS NOT 24 HOURS. My house ran out of power and heat due to the BAD snowstorm and in the middle of the night I booked a room for 90$ with this motel, and they WEREN'T EVEN OPEN!!! My cellphone battery died and I was left stranded in the middle of a snowstorm AT 3AM!!!!!! Thankfully a stranger at a nearby gas station guided me towards a highway that would lead me to more hotels that were actually 24 hours. Later when Sussex Motel opened, I called and explained my situation to the representative. The woman I spoke to cancelled my reservation as we were on the phone and said I would get my refund within 10 business days. That was January 28th and it is now March 2nd. After 10 days I called for weeks, and they refused to answer the phone. When they finally answered I was told that I should have received it and that they will speak to their superior to see what happened. When I called again for an update, I was told that I would not be getting my money back and that there was some sort of mix up with my name which made absolutely no sense to me. I paid 90$ for a room I never even stayed in, for a motel that doesn't even stay open for 24hours. After telling me for more than a month I would get my refund they turned around and said that I wasn't and stole my money, claiming my refund went against cancellation policy. If that were true, then why was I told that I would be receiving a refund to begin with? DISGUSTING AND BEYOND UNPROFFESSIONAL. I reported this motel to the better business bureau, The Advertiser News North, and Sussex County Court for stealing my money and having misleading information online. My lawyer is reaching out to them as well and they aren't answering. I hope this review protects others from having a horrible experience with Sussex Motel.

He apologized for my…read moreexperience and took the position that "unfortunately their Regular Security Guard had called out sick...and well some parties get out of hand...but we are top rated with Holiday Inn...Sorry no can't comp you a free night, besides we're fully booked". Way to drop the ball--i originally gave 2 stars for the Sales Manager who took ownership & immediately refunded my first two nights stay and delivered a hand written apology note. I'm currently staying at this Holiday Inn while my father is in hospice care, and although the property itself is new, clean, and nicely updated with decent amenities, my experience has been extremely disappointing. This hotel caters to large wedding parties, many of whom treat the building as a second party venue rather than a hotel. Despite being assigned to the "quiet floor" and being warned at check-in about potential noise, my first night included what felt like a full-blown frat party in the hallway. After a sleepless night, I suggested the hotel consider simple courtesy signage--similar to what some bars use--to remind guests to respect others as they return to their rooms. This is a reasonable, basic step, and it shouldn't fall on guests to propose it. An even more concerning issue was the front desk service. When I asked for matches to light a candle to say a prayer for my father, I fully expected a polite safety-related decline. Instead, the employee said, "100% no problem--promise you will burn this place to the ground." Whether meant as a joke or not, it was wildly inappropriate, unprofessional, and deeply unsettling given the circumstances. When I asked another staff member the following evening if I should expect another night like the first, the response was simply, "That's how people are these days." No reassurance, no ownership, and no sense of hospitality. Overall, the lack of guest control, poor handling of disruptive events, coupled with shockingly unprofessional staff interactions have made an already difficult time even harder. I hope management addresses these issues, because the property has potential--but right now, the guest experience falls far short of acceptable.

Mini omelets, pancakes, oatmeal, cereal, sausage, yogurt and fruit. They do a lot of wedding parties here and the 4 nights I stayed there was always a party going on with a lot of drunk guests. You have to turn it way up to get the room up to warm and then turn it down. -tv is limited as far as commercial-free channels and you cannot stream or mirror. -the black out curtains did not reach the windowsill so light crept in right at eye level in the morning. And a special shoutout to my DY (wink) girl Natalie, who worked the pool area and made sure the drinks were flowing! She was so personable, friendly, and attentive and definitely added to the fun of our time in that area. We also had the chance to experience both lunch and dinner at the on-site restaurant, which was a nice bonus. We loved being able to enjoy ourselves without having to leave the property. We're also so glad we upgraded our stay to include access to the concierge lounge. A special thank you and shoutout to Darius for recommending the upgrade--it was absolutely worth it! The lounge was lovely, classy, sophisticated, and comfortable. With unlimited access, we enjoyed complimentary beverages (including beer and wine), snacks, light breakfast, midday bites, and evening finger foods. It was such a nice perk and added an extra special touch to our anniversary getaway. And it's the little things that caught my attention. I mean, even the hang tag for your room door feels like quality! That pretty much sums up the attention to detail throughout this hotel.
