Some time back we were having transmission problems. Tonya said they don't work on transmissions and sent us to Snows in Redmond (honest folks!) where we might just need a tune up. So back to Rollins. We asked them to do a tune up. Tonya called, said they checked their records and it had a tuneup recently enough that it didn't need one but found the problem was a part that cost under $400. - peanuts to a big transmission repair. I can't emphasize how much these guys saved me from a potentially catastrophic situation. My wife and I were driving through town for her birthday weekend and our alternator belt broke on a Friday afternoon. We called Rollins and Sons and they said they would try to squeeze us in. Rude, said they could do nothing for us and to go down the street. Truck is literally broken down in front of the shop and they tell me to move it away from their gate (not even in the way) , we have to jump it and roll down the street since they didn't want to help us. Got dirty looks from everyone there, was expecting friendly and helpful people from the reviews I read, but no. So rude, worst experience ever, definitely not helpful at all. Update!! On a Saturday, leaving work, I jumped into my, '98 Subaru Outback Legacy, turned the key in the ignition and... nothing. NO cranking, NO click-click-clicking. Zippo! Nada! Zilch! Checked the battery and it was OK and others checked out my "situation", with cursory engine/electrical examinations as well. The final, collective diagnosis was; it's either the starter or the solenoid. I made an appointment, via a phone call with the wonderful, Ms. Tonya, to have my car looked at on a Wednesday, a little over a week hence (They are BUSY!), but I got it towed in earlier than that, because Tonya was so kind as to call me to let me know that there was an opening on their lot. Within no time at all they were able to diagnose the problem (at first, they thought it was a starter glitch, but it turned out to be a wiring problem because of another issue I'd had with an after market security device, that a previous owner had installed) and get it taken care of, pronto! After being on the road from WA to CA to Bend, and back to WA, we noticed a horrible urine smell coming from my AC. I called all around Sisters with no luck. When I called Rollins and told them I feared I had a dead rodent in my car they got me in! Jeremy was awesome - he checked all throughout my car, cleaned my filter, and even put oil in my car. And he sprayed the filter with Gain Febreeze (his favorite scent)! I feel so much better now I know there's nothing actually wrong and we can go home! My 1950 CJ 3 Willys Jeep ('Free Willy') really needed close review as little had been done since its arrival in Oregon ~25 yrs ago after spending its first majority years on the salted roads of northern Minnesota. I've had it with several mechanics but their approach was clearly too lineal. After bringing it to Camp Sherman, I started looking around for a good general auto mechanic, the kind born with a carburetor adjusting screwdriver in their hand, and on referral found a GREAT one right in Sisters, in Rollins Auto's main guy Jeremy. ( Recall there is now an entire generation of auto mechanics who truly have never even worked on a car with a hand choke, much less a carburetor !!) As my Willys had not been serviced for quite a while and especially worrisome were the softening brakes, I made arrangements for a detailed going over which Rollins did just this past week thoroughly and VERY reasonably priced. I'm very grateful. As testimony to his integrity, it's worth noting that on picking up my Willys, I was surprised to hear that the brake master cylinder I brought along that SEVERAL mechanic friends had opined that it was essential, was determined not necessary after all. read more

I had a headlight on my Prius go out while in Sisters, Oregon. Replacing these is a task, as the space is tight and some shops will simply take out the front fender or bumper to do that job. Rollins saw us the same day, and was able to do it in an hour without taking the car apart in a reasonable fashion for a reasonable fees, considering the time it took. He was a nice person, honest, and did the job well. I would go back again, and yes, I recommend this shop. It is also a family business, which I prefer. read more

My Sister and our two dogs took off on a road trip for Oregon a few days ago from Southern Ca. Just like our dad taught us (years and years and years ago, as we're no spring chickens), we had our car serviced and checked out for any potential problems that could be headed off; specifically the AC. We even put a new set of tires on. Just 30 minutes outside of Sisters, our AC stopped working. Holy Crap! What now??! We're headed into a small town in the afternoon, reservations at Silver Falls, another hour and a half away. We figured if we could even find someone to take a look, no one would be able to fix it for at least a day or two, and it would cost a fortune. We went to one place...they couldn't work us in until the following Wed. We asked for a referral, they said to try the guys behind them..Rollins and Sons. What a blessing!! Not only did they stop and try to troubleshoot right then, but when the owner discovered what part was needed and couldn't find it in Sisters, he pulled one from a junker car he had and our AC was fixed in 45 minutes. The price he charged us for recharging the gas and replacing the bad part, was less than I would pay for a good pedicure and manicure at home. We were out for a mother daughter weekend and our suv broke down 1/2 mile before we got to sisters oregon. It was a Friday night at 5 and Us 6 girls were stranded before our vacation even started. We frantically called auto shops and Rollins was the only one who would answer their phone that late on a Friday. He not only stayed open for us he called a friend who owned the local tow shop to come get us and the vehicle. They brought us all to Rollins only to find a part out that he didn't have. He got on the phone and had it brought in for Saturday morning. His sweet little wife drive us in her van to our vacation rental house. He worked all morning saturday " on his day off " to get us girls a car. Then when he handed me the bill it was ridiculiously cheap. Needless to say we love these guys!!! They saved our weekend.
