Growing up in the area I feel confident enough to say this is the star diner in the Lewiston/Auburn area. All though it has plenty of competition, Rolly's is the only one that keeps a stellar reputation. As long as you are not easily bothered by a kitsch atmosphere, Rolly's is incredibly welcoming. They are known for (over)decorating the diner area to the current season/holiday. It's really a lot of fun. The last time I went the ceiling was covered in light blue billowy sheets and toy hot air air balloons to celebrate the month of August and the famous Lewiston/Auburn balloon festival. I really feel no one should go to Rolly's without at the very least trying the crepes. They have some fancy options but I would suggest the very basic crepes with brown sugar and syrup. This is the kind of food I grew up with. The staff mostly consists of the sweetest little old ladys that wont ever let your empty coffee cup go unnoticed. Overall this is the best family restaurant Lewiston / Auburn has to offer. read more

I came here with family for a good breakfast for my first dinning experience at Rolly's. The place was packed so I expected it would be good. The prices were SUPER reasonable. I got eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, homefries, and coffee for $6.95 which is a good deal compared to most breakfast places. My dad likes his omlettes very well done, almost burnt. He always has to return his plate to be cooked more at any other restaurant because the cooks generally don't listen/read the slip. He was pleasantly surprised that Rolly's actually read and executed his order how he likes it and he didn't have to send it back to be cooked more! Finally, regarding the food, the pancakes were great. The edges were a little crispy which I loved because it gave it a little crunch. Now for the service, we had the cutest waitress, Rita, who was not only a hoot, she was also a great waitress. Now that I know about this place I would definitely come back! read more

We found this gem while visiting family in Lewiston. We wanted to eat at a mom and pop local spot for brunch. We were immediately greeted by a wonderful woman who was attentive and beyond friendly. The worst breakfast I have had out. The home fry potatoes were not cooked thru. Not even a pinch of salt. The SOS was grey mostly hamburger no sausage taste. I have had SOS in many places and never seen anything like this. The service was extremely disappointing. Very slow even when they weren't busy. read more

It's your run of the mill diner fare, but it's delicious. Service was always good, whether we were sitting at the counter or table, and the food hot. Crepes were wonderful (I love crepes, so I'm biased), especially with just maple syrup (the real stuff), and they have specials on pancakes/french toast. You'll find creton here, as well, which I have yet to try. It will happen, I'm sure. I enjoy the French Canadian influence in the choices, and recommend this diner to anyone looking for cheaper fare and a full belly. read more

This is a good diner for breakfast and definitely the crepes are their signature dish. I tried the skillet and was great. I was disappointed about service though. My waitress, never introduced herself, she didn't smile or interact at all, except when she brought me the receipt, not only with me but with other customers as well. There were only two that seemed very friendly and cared about their clients. Finally, their coffee rounds for refills were a little too spaced out. My husband and I have tried Rolly's a couple times, but neither has been particularly noteworthy. There are always "regulars" in the diner, and conversation flows freely between staff and regular customers, as it should in a neighborhood diner, but that friendliness does not necessarily extend to non-regulars. The staff is pleasant in general, but not "warm." We tried breakfast and lunch, and found the food to be "so-so," compared to other similar eateries in the L/A area. read more

I heard a lot about this place when my husband and I first moved to Auburn so we checked it out. I have never been overly impressed. The one time I ordered a crepe it was filled with fake lemon curd - dreadful. The second time I went I ordered their 'special' called a cheeseburger omlette - what I got was paperthin, barely any cheese, dry/greasy hamburger with brown liquid oozing all over the plate. DISGUSTING. The only thing that place has going for it is is really nice staff and fun decorations. I would rather go to the Denny's in Auburn - the food is superior in every way, including the coffee. read more
