It's very easy to complain about a company but many people do NOT take the time to write a good review when things go right.When looking for an oil company ,they are many to choose from and when I called Romanelli and spoke to Kelly( who explained thoroughly everything I needed to know about what makes them different) I immediately signed up. The oil has been delivered automatically on time. I had my 1st problem with the furnace on a Sunday night after 9pm and I called and within an hour , I had someone at my house fixing the problem ( needed a transformer) immediately. Having switched from Slomin's, my family and I have been with Romanelli for years and have been very satisfied with their service. We have automatic oil delivery and haven't had an issue. Romanelli has been there for us day or night. I had contracted a customer of mine to replace my boiler, only to have it butchered, Romanelli came and fixed the installation without hesitation and was very reasonable, even though I got the boiler from someone else. This company is run by a bunch of LIARS! I locked in my oil rate online but they won't honor the price! I locked in at $1.99 per gallon but they charged me $2.89! They said that I never locked in but I have proof that I did. They will try and cheat you out of your money. Don't be fooled by them. RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!! No heat for three days! It took their technician two days and two separate trips to figure out I was out of OIL! DUH! He left me with five gallons of oil to heat my house for the next twenty four hours. It was 19 degrees out. Right it didn't last the night. As I write this I still have not had an oil delivery. Well, I've been a customer for about one month, and let me tell you, it is pretty bad. We just purchased a house, and in the basement is a boiler that was described by the engineer as "post-war", so needless to say, it is quite old, and as such, though effective, quite inefficient. We had about a half a tank of oil when we purchased the home in September and we were not yet living in the home so we sparsely used the heat. Starting in November the weather began to get chilly, so we began using the heat whenever we were doing work in the house. All of a sudden a few weeks later the heat no longer came on. We called Romanelli because that is what the previous owner used, and he said "they were nice." So, on a Saturday, I called the number and was told I can sign up for a subscription and service plan on a smart phone. I was walked through the process and in minutes I had esigned the contract, without reading very much. A man came and told us we were out of oil and that the emergency 10 gallons they would usually fill it with will do nothing, so Romanelli would be back on Monday to fill the tank and perform an evaluation on the equipment. No such evaluation ever took place. Fast forward a month, to when we have about a half inch of water on our basement floor (where the oil burner is). We found the basement in this condition on a Saturday and called that evening at seven pm. The emergency operator told me there was no time frame for when the technician would be coming, the technician called a little while later and told me he would be 3 hours. after about 4.5 hours wait, we had to leave the house and told the technician to come in the morning. He was out first thing at 8am, had a quick look at the situation and told me the job was too big and would have to be done on a weekday. I said ok. Monday goes by, nobody comes for work, I call and the operator told me the calendar said "Monday-Tuesday OK" Finally, (day 4 with no heat) the technician came in the afternoon on Tuesday, but again left the house with no heat. "Special parts are needed" I'm told, but was not called while the technician was at the house. We call again the next day, the technician is not scheduled to come until the afternoon (I guess a 5 day old problem is not a priority). The operators became unpleasant on the phone when dealing with us, and there is never any time frame given, and if there is, it is inaccurate. I would like to cancel my service with them, but upon reading the contract, it would cost m $1000 plus the difference in price of 600 gallons of oil to what I have already had delivered. read more

Once my contract ran out they delivered oil at their "market" rate. Apparently the Romanelli "market" rate is $0.25+ higher per gallon ($4.49/gallon!). When I questioned them on the price, they told me that they could lower the price of that delivery to $3.99/gallon only if I signed up for another year. Nice. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. I've used Petro and Morania in the past and I would recommend either of them in a heartbeat over Romanelli. read more

Terrible customer service. We have been calling for four days to get an oil delivery we are running low. Only to get a woman on the phone telling us your not low you do not know what your talking about. Second day we call we were told there's a ticket out I guess if you want an oil delivery he will come but your needle must be broken you do not need oil. Four days of calling and we now have less then 1/8 of a tank, promised today 3 times by a nasty lady they are coming today I'm looking at your ticket and it says delivery on the January 6th and there still not here! I called the emergency number 3 times tonight and no one answers. This is unacceptable why would we lie to an oil company that we are running low on oil? I had a huge concern about an oil delivery with a charge that appeared incorrect. I remembered agreeing to "a ceiling price"contract over the phone. I was sent a "fixed price" contract instead without realizing it.( It pays to be careful and read everything the moment you receive things in the mail and not assume anything.) I had a fixed contract in front of me and was about to lose my loyalty to a company where there was a huge misunderstanding over an error that I couldn't prove. I wasn't convinced that I was going to be a satisfied customer. Well, Merry Christmas to me from Romanelli. Here is the verbiage from this company: SUPERIOR PLAN - Our biggest-selling plan and your best overall value! Covers nearly 100 parts plus labor, including combustion components, and water, oil and air distribution parts for up to 5 zones. Plus, you get water heater repair and parts replacement. The Superior Plan also includes preventive maintenance to increase your system's performance and longevity. Do you think this is true? NO...I got $750 bill for labor and parts. They said all sorts of BS stupid excuses. So don't believe into this deceiving 'Superior plan'. If you choose other plans, be prepared to pay triple Staff: every time I called, it sounded like they all are on the way to emergency room and have no time to talk. No one will hold conversation with you, just refer to the website and hang up the phone. Refills: It doesn't matter how empty or full my tank is, the bill was almost always the same...around $700. I don't believe in any of their meters, their readings definitely off ...and not in my favor I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. TALK ABOUT TAKING ADVANTAGE. I was buying my first home and this has to be the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. I got a price from them and apparently signed my life away. They have yet to even deliver oil and when i wanted to cancel the contract within 3 days that new york state allows well this company found a loop hole now they want to charge me $600 to cancel and 600 gallons of fuel totaling $2100 to cancel and I havent even received a drop off oil. Worst Customer Service EVER!! Staff is rude and Mike "Who runs the company on a day to day basis" (his words) can't be bothered to try and solve a problem. He makes up excuse after excuse and lie after lie. That's it. Owners are absentee and will not handle problems. They can't service my burner in the time frame left on contract. But I have to continue my contract with them or pay them a $595 cancelation fee for the same contract that they can't honor. Sales rep lied about what I was getting for my money as well. This company is indeed a criminal enterprise. I signed a contract with them when i bought my house under the pretense that my boiler would be inspected first in order for contract to be official. Then i get a call out of nowhere stating that oil truck was unable to deliver oil because whistle in fill pipe was broken. I immediately called and stated that this is bad business that they tried to shove oil down my tank without even inspecting my oil burner. I cancelled my service with them before they could even deliver a drop of oil and they are trying to charge me a cancellation fee $1000. So basically they want to charge me $1000 for signing a contract that was never finalized. Thank the good lord that i keep all my documents with romanelli and recorded phone calls. I even tried to do the right thing and pay for the service tech that was dispatched to my house without my consent and they had the audacity to cash a paid in full check of a negotiated amount via phone conversation for the termination of contract and then send me to collections. Run, do not walk away from this company. They were bought out by Petro, and have adopted their shady practices. They locked me into an 18 month pricing plan, but a 12 month service plan. When my service p!an was up, they tried locking me in without locking me in to a new pricing plan. That would have forced me to re-sign with them when my plan was up. I told them not to re-sign me. I was on auto pay with my credit card and they charged me anyway. I had to call to get the charges taken off. When I was looking to renew my plan, they were 30 cents higher than anybody else, and would not negotiate. The office staff was arrogant, and condescending. I was running low on oil and wanted one last fill up. They refused. The owner got on the phone and argued that I had plenty of oil in my tank. He was just as unreasonable as his staff.
