Tried this place based on Yelp reviews. Our family collectively gave it 3 1/2 stars...but we rounded up. First let me say we are from Texas so eating outside when it's 58 degrees brought the score down for us....as we were cold & our food got cold quickly. The burgers were pretty good. The patty's are very thin so they dry out pretty quickly. The ingredients seemed very fresh so that's a bonus. We had the garlic fries & onion rings...both good. Ironically enough, the "kitchen" here is mobile, in the form of a food truck. That being said, this particular kitchen pumps out amazing food that you really should try. But one day, my boyfriend got their pulled pork sandwich and oh my god it was delicious. Sorry, Guy Fieri, but Cafe Nooner isn't the best place to get pulled pork sandwiches. Dang good burger! My husband and I stopped in. I got the burger with barbecue sauce and I got the onion rings. Holy moley! The burger was the bomb. Quite flavorful. I was nervous the burger would be sloppy with sauce poured on. But it was not! Very flavorful and seemed to be cooked with sauce on it. The onion rings were above par. Definitely. Who would have thought the best burgers and fries for the money in Humboldt would come out of a food truck. The patties are a little on the thin side, but the burger packs so much flavor that you hardly even notice. Also, I love their chili cheese fries and turkey pesto. The service is always friendly, but a tad on the slow side. But, after taking a bite, it's apparent that every second of the wait was going into making the simple food extraordinary. Some of the best burgers in town, but all their offerings are made with a dedication to serving great food. The garlic fries are awesome, and the Milanesa torta is simply amazing. The prices might seem to be more fitting for a restaurant, but they do consistently serve restaurant quality food. Once in awhile they pack up and head out to a festival or gathering, which is why I think they operate from a truck. I've learned to never underestimate food trucks, and Roman's is the kind of truck that proves why--it's an upscale burger joint on wheels in a community center parking lot. Plus, hey, food trucks are ideal for the COVID era. The burgers are on the pricer side, and you get what you pay for--big, decadent, delicious things in some colorful remixes. "Just a cheeseburger" is not what you're here for. I don't think I've ever had battered fries before, but I was pleasantly surprised--delicious and extremely crispy. Sweet potato fries are also delicious. The only non-burger thing I tried was the pulled pork sandwich, which I'd qualify as very good but not the best I've ever had. The cole slaw, a favorite of mine, was similar--quite good, not quite fantastic. You should go in knowing what you're in for, though--these are big, greasy, let's-live-it-up burgers, not something that you'd want to eat every day. My wife has a lower "heavy American food" tolerance than I do, and this place--particularly the fries--push her limits. This place is competing with Stars a few blocks away, which is my favorite local burger place, so by way of direct comparison, Roman's burgers are bigger, flashier, more "creative", and heavier. The fries, likewise, are crispier and more strongly flavored, but also greasier and heavier. It comes mostly down to a matter of taste--if you want a simple, relatively classic burger and fries with absolutely everything done right, that's also a reasonable size, Stars can't be beat. If you want a piled-high monster with some more exotic flavor options, hit up Roman's. There's some tables and chairs set up nearby to eat onsite if you'd like, but it's not really the nicest place to eat so the only real advantage is not wasting the take-out box. Personally if I wanted to eat nearby I'd walk to the small park a block up the street, or better yet the grassy area and nice trees right across 11th, and eat there. read more

As a previous resident of Arcata while attending HSU back in the day, it's always fun to revisit some of our old favorite eating haunts, and sad to see which ones are no longer in business. But on this most recent return visit, we were delighted to find what we hope will become one of our new favorites on our subsequent return travels. Roman's Kitchen, like the famous shrimp trucks on Maui or those culinary purveyors at the Off-the-Grid events in more urban areas serves up their goodness from a truck in a parking lot. Given that it's right next door to a medical marijuana dispensary, it's in the perfect location to be a first-class burger munchie fix. We called in a to go order from the beach for five burgers, each with a special request. 15 minutes later we picked them up, and all were done perfectly and got raves from teenagers and adults alike. We were traveling through the area and I found them on Yelp. I looked over their menu and photos and compared them to other local burger restaurants in the area. The food looked just like the pictures! The staff was pleasant and the food was absolutely AMAZING! Their food was better than any chain restaurants that I have been to like Apple Bees, Chili's, etc. There should have been a huge line of people wrapping around the side walk on the corner of where the food truck is located. honestly, everything tasted amazing but our fries were cold and our burgers were lukewarm at best... we called in at 6:41 with our order, they told us to come in 20 minutes, and we arrived at 7:00. it was a bit disappointing to arrive to pickup our food at our designated time, only to have it be cold... we ordered the western burger, the teriyaki burger, and a half order of fries. the flavor of both burgers were great and the fries were crispy, despite being cold. i know that this meal would've been 4, if not 5 stars, had our food been at least warm. read more
