Cons: I got the adult chicken tenders with fries. Too much breading on the tenders. Reuben sandwich with fries and the chicken soft tacos were bland and needed more seasoning. The onion rings were way too big and couldn't finish them all but tasty. It was all bar food and it was around $90 dollars and not good food at all. Where do I start, we were visiting from out of state and stopped in to grab a bite while taking advantage of our Seal Beach surroundings (8/12/26) . First, they only take reservations for groups of eight or more. We were a group of five so therefore we were at the mercy of availability and the wait time at 5pm was close to an hour. Normally, I believe the wait time would have been less had it not been for a band that was scheduled to play across the street on the beach at 6pm. The locals were pooring into the Hang Out to dine before the band started, which caused congestion and raised the talk volume. Bad timing on our end. We took advantage of the Wednesday (Fish Fry) Special: 50% off fish 'n' chips, fried fish sandwiches, and fried fish tacos with a drink purchase. The food came out in a timely fashion which was a plus, but down side was all of our ordered entrees were somewhat generic in appeal and flavor. Perhaps there is not much one can do to upside fish 'n' chips or fried fish tacos. One of the highlights of our beach days is picking up food from Hangout Restaurant. It's become a tradition for us! The location couldn't be better, it's conveniently right across from the beach, making it the perfect place to grab takeout and enjoy a meal with an ocean view. My go-to order is always the chicken pesto pasta. It's creamy, flavorful, and honestly one of the main reasons I keep coming back. I haven't found another place near me that makes a pesto pasta quite like theirs, so I always make sure to order it whenever we're here. Their burger and tacos are equally delicious, too! This location is almost always busy, which says a lot, but the service has consistently been friendly and efficient. Even with the crowd, the staff does a great job keeping things moving. I have been meaning to write Hangout a review for some time. We just went again and this time I reviewed in the same week I was there. Hangout is just great. We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can eat in or outside. They have a full bar and sometimes it gets a tad loud on weekend nights, but it is fine. We just eat inside. The place is clean, comfortable and super cute. It is right in Seal Beach and be patient trying to find parking. The service is great with the sole exception of the hostess. She is fine, but she needs to pay a little more attention. The rest of the staff is the best. They know their large menu and all the drinks they have. You will love them. The food is outstanding. We love their breakfast items. They have a pancake that my grandson loves that is chocolate and not thanks for me, but he thinks it is great. Their eggs, hash browns, waffles and plain pancakes are perfect. For lunch they have some of the best sliders with great buns and wonderful French fries. They also have ribs and all sorts of seafood. We love their fish and chips and they are often a special. The fried shrimp is great with super dipping sauces. Their sea food pots (the BOUNTY OF THE SEA POT)is my favorite) is so good and you can get it as a starter or for your main. We also love all their shrimp dishes. There is something for everyone. Came to meet some friends to watch the World Cup, they have a tv near the exit to the restaurant. we arrived during their happy hour! It's Weekdays from 3pm-6pm & all the food we got was $9.95! Our server was very attentive, she always checked up on us and made sure we were okay. Food was good especially for the price too! We also got ranch on the side which was good to dip in anything...literally. I really enjoyed the Double smash burger that came with pickles (my fav). We also asked for lemons for the calamari because they actually deep fry it too which I thought was interesting. Speaking of the calamari, the two sauces that came with it were perfect pairings. I also ordered the watermelon agua fresca cocktail which has Milagro Silver Tequila, Watermelon Schnapps, Fresh Lime & Mint, Simple Syrup with Tajin Rim and a Brut Float. It was very tasty and I enjoyed how you can taste the alcohol, not super sweet which is what I like when it comes to cocktails.
