I have been meaning to write Hangout a review for some time. We just went again and this time I reviewed in the same week I was there. Hangout is just great. We have been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can eat in or outside. They have a full bar and sometimes it gets a tad loud on weekend nights, but it is fine. We just eat inside. The place is clean, comfortable and super cute. It is right in Seal Beach and be patient trying to find parking. The service is great with the sole exception of the hostess. She is fine, but she needs to pay a little more attention. The rest of the staff is the best. They know their large menu and all the drinks they have. You will love them. The food is outstanding. We love their breakfast items. They have a pancake that my grandson loves that is chocolate and not thanks for me, but he thinks it is great. Their eggs, hash browns, waffles and plain pancakes are perfect. For lunch they have some of the best sliders with great buns and wonderful French fries. They also have ribs and all sorts of seafood. We love their fish and chips and they are often a special. The fried shrimp is great with super dipping sauces. Their sea food pots (the BOUNTY OF THE SEA POT)is my favorite) is so good and you can get it as a starter or for your main. We also love all their shrimp dishes. There is something for everyone. No stroller / baby car seat friendly. Well at least the hostess needs more training on how to speak to customers that have them instead of being rude. Perhaps she should ask if the stroller can be stored on the side instead of assuming it needs to be at the table causing longer wait time and then have a condescension tone when asked how much longer. Once we were called to be seated she threw the tablet on the stand and the menus in the table. Completely unnecessary and awkward. Pretty much killing the mood for a simple bite to eat on a nice day at the beach. Then she had the nerve to lie to the manager and say she was cussed at when we asked to speak to the manager. No one deserves to be treated with such attitude. The manager mentioned that she was only 17. I said well hopefully this is a teachable moment for her. The server was great aside from that. Stumbled upon this spot after a business meeting and was pleasantly surprised! We were seated immediately with no wait, which was a great start. Our server Cassidy let us know about their half-off appetizers and bottles of wine special, making the experience even better. We ordered the deviled eggs and salmon sliders, and both came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The food was well-prepared, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was attentive. If you come here and enjoy seafood, GET THE LOUISIANA SEAFOOD POT! It was the best seafood pot I've ever had! I got the spicy tomato it was filled with flavor! It has a mild spice to it but the tomato seasoning blended well with the shellfish. After I finished one, we ordered another one. Sue was our server and she was very friendly, and gave excellent service! The place is very cozy. Family friendly restaurant. Owner, if you read this, bring back the lobster bisque! The vibe here is def local! We slide into the happy hour menu while in the area! 3pm-6pm The wings were so crispy and yummy!!! The Thai chili were my fav! I found them a tad bit crispier than the buffalo?! The je split burger was a smart move bc we both wanted a little bit of wings and a juicy burger!! Craving satisfied! The margaritas were spot on! Came to meet some friends to watch the World Cup, they have a tv near the exit to the restaurant. we arrived during their happy hour! It's Weekdays from 3pm-6pm & all the food we got was $9.95! Our server was very attentive, she always checked up on us and made sure we were okay. Food was good especially for the price too! We also got ranch on the side which was good to dip in anything...literally. I really enjoyed the Double smash burger that came with pickles (my fav). We also asked for lemons for the calamari because they actually deep fry it too which I thought was interesting. Speaking of the calamari, the two sauces that came with it were perfect pairings. I also ordered the watermelon agua fresca cocktail which has Milagro Silver Tequila, Watermelon Schnapps, Fresh Lime & Mint, Simple Syrup with Tajin Rim and a Brut Float. It was very tasty and I enjoyed how you can taste the alcohol, not super sweet which is what I like when it comes to cocktails. It's a bar so it does get loud but it didn't bother me, overall had a great time! Also it may be difficult to find parking so that's something to consider. read more

The Hangout is a small chain in the area and we dined at the location across the street from Seal Beach. I ordered the fish and chips. Hearty portion but tasteless. I tried dousing the fish with malt vinegar to help, but sadly it didn't do the trick. My friend shared her Fuji apple salad with the table, which was delicious. read more

Went to this place on a Sunday evening, was wanting some good old American style food. This place definitely exceeded our expectations! The food was delicious and huge portions! The onion rings was fried in this light tempura style batter and it came with two types of dipping sauce, the bbq one was the best as it had this Worcestershire taste to it and went well with the onion rings! The Bypass Burger was so delicious and big very sharable as for the fish and chip was super yummy the batter on the fish wasn't too thick so you get a lot of fish meat!!Definitely recommend this place!!! read more

Kicked off the new year by riding our ebikes down to Seal Beach on Friday to grab a bite to eat since there was break from all the SoCal rain. There was no wait to get seated so that was nice. I opted to order the salmon omelet and my bf ordered huevos rancheros. The food was good, came out freshly made. My omelet had a decent amount of salmon in it not overly loaded with cream cheese so that was good. Good flavors, it came with some hash browns and toast of your choice. Came here on Father's Day. We did have to wait 30min but being able to walk up/down main street makes it go by quickly. We love the option of being able to have breakfast all day. My wife and daughter loved the pancakes and waffles. I got the club sandwhich and I loved how they dumped a mountain of fries over it! It was not busy. We waited almost 10 min and finally went to the hostess to ask who our server was. She sent someone over. We had waited so long we knew what we wanted and placed our order. My husband and I came here for breakfast and had to do a few swaps to our dishes as I didn't find anything for people who are watching their carbs and sugars, just the omeletes without the hashbrown and toast (gave it to muy husband). Portions are a great size. Service initially wasn't that great, we had a very inattentive waitress but she was replaced by another nice waitress and waitor who were more attentive. Was there for dinner three weeks ago and dinner was amazing and a great by glass red wine. We ordered Fish and Chips and had a glass of conundrum red wine. Ella was our server and was absolutely amazing. Went there for dinner last night, wine list changed, Fish and Chips were extremely over breaded, served on a very small plate that made it look like you had tons of food, coleslaw was not there normal coleslaw (no flavor). Our server was absolutely terrible, came back when everyone was almost done to see if everything was okay. Never asked if anyone would like another glass of wine or cocktail. She carried one finished plate at a time when everyone was finished. I actually had to ask her to take the plates, took one and left two in the table. Quite surprised there wasn't a wait with it being summer and even got lucky with a parking spot right next to the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and helped us make our decisions. The Hangout is a solid spot in Seal Beach with a great location that's practically oceanfront. The ambience and service alone earn it four stars--it's relaxed, welcoming, and the staff is consistently friendly and attentive. On this visit, I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast with poached eggs. Unfortunately, the chicken fried steak was a bit under-seasoned, which left it tasting a bit bland. The poached eggs were also overcooked, which was disappointing. I've eaten here many times before, and the food is usually better than it was on this visit. That said, I won't give up on this place. Came here over the weekend for lunch and forgot how great this place was. We got mimosas for starters. They have a ton of different flavors - grapefruit, guava, etc. I got their chicken sliders (3) and this was a huge portion! I could only eat 2 with the fries. We came in as a group of 7, 3 kids, a teenager and 3 adults. We all enjoyed this place very much. My husband got a Monday meatloaf deal which he thought was delicious. One of the kids got the clam chowder which we can't stop raving about and we've had alot of clam chowder other places. They don't skimp out on the clams at all, and the added veggies inside are so good, they don't overwhelm the flavor of the chowder at all. I got mahi tacos with pineapple and the mahi was cooked perfect with a great amount of flavor. The other two kiddos got smash burgers which they killed.
