Received a discount flyer from Romo's in the mail just as I was looking for places for a brake job, took it as an omen lol. Turned out my brakes were fine so it was not the wear "squealers" making the noise. But since I was there I had the rear drums inspected, cleaned and adjusted which did make a noticeable difference in braking and my E-brake. Then after I left I realized the front noise was gone as well. Might have been some debris that fell out upon inspection, but whatever, it's gone which is a nice side benefit. Unfortunately I forgot the service managers name but he was friendly, courteous and explained everything well. I am a former fleet mechanic so I know if I'm getting snowed. But I'm retired, sold my tools and live in a condo complex now so can't do my own repairs. Definitely will use Romo's in the future. read more

I had a long extended stay at his garage. But the owner of this place knows how to speak to people. He is respectful and considerate, although I think his prices are very high. We all have to make a living in the end. He was not able to completely align my car because it needs Another part that I have to put off otherwise I would have let the complete repair be done. I have to save up a little bit to get through the holiday and then I can have the alignment bar put into my rear end as it's bent I will return here. read more

I first started going here 4 years ago when they were on Perez Road in Cathedral City. They were THE best mechanics around and I trusted them completely. I cannot say that anymore since they moved to Palm Springs. Their prices have skyrocketed, and their service level has dropped to a disappointing low. Several months ago, my car lost acceleration. Engine started fine, but stepping on the accelerator did nothing. I ran my own diagnostic and had my car towed in. They insisted they run their own diagnostic for $250! It didn't matter I had the diagnostic report in my hand. It was a minor issue that should have cost maybe $100, but I had to fork out the $250 I didn't have. About 2-3 years ago, I had to have the fan blower replaced. Thanks to the warranty I had, it cost me $100 (actual charge was around $225). My blower motor started malfunctioning so I took it back. They wanted $250 to replace a sensor and tried strong-arming me to replace that instead of the blower, regardless if that was the issue or not. AND if it wasn't the sensor, I would still have to pay for it AND the new blower, jacking my cost to over $400! Not happening, and really disappointed they tried selling me a part and service I did not need. I bought my replacement blower from AutoZone, delivered to my house free, found a DIY video on YouTube (OMG so easy!), and will be replacing it myself -- saving $300+ Sorry, Romo, but thanks to your front office staff and being pushed to buy parts and services I did not need, you've lost a customer -- your best customer in 2020-21. I'm going to Performance Plus Automotive from now on ($75 oil change instead of $140 for full synthetic). I am also taking my husband's car there, so Romo's has lost TWO customers. read more

Coming back to Palm Springs our truck brakes were screeching. Hubby took to ford in am. Ford won't work on truck because of the liability! Brakes rusty from age! 2004 duelly with 67,000 miles. Ford, Firestone, unable to work on it. Mike from Ford told me about Romo's near airport! Carlos diagnosed the problem in 2 minutes! He showed me pics, bolt missing from the brake caliber. Took awhile & lots of prayers to find the bolt! They got the bolt and in minutes, I was on my way! Still can't believe he found the problem immediately & Ford totally missed it! We almost gave our truck to Carmax for a bolt! I can't tell you how I appreciate Romo's helping me as a walk in & saving us! The bill was under 150.00 & I was more than happy to pay the bill! These guys are legit. I took a car I recently bought in because I thought the reverse gear was broken and they immediately showed me that I was using the wrong gear orientation. Now they could have VERY easily scammed me out of 1000+ dollars for repairs but they ridiculed me for messing up my transmission and sent me on my way ABSOLUTELY FREE! I finally found someone who actually knows alignments, this shop has mechanics specialized in certain things. I can't get over how much better my 1967 VW bug front end feels, after the alignment. It was hard to find anybody who knew how to do a 1967 VW, or have the adapters for the wheels. This is my new go to shop. You'll not be disappointed. read more

NEW ADDRESS: 640 Williams Rd Palm Springs, CA 92264 Took my car to Isrrael Romo many years ago (2006-2007) for alignment and he did a fantastic job AND he adjusted my steering wheel to make sure it was perfectly centered straight in the 12:00 position. This is a peeve of mine when the steering wheel is "off set" or crooked even a tiny amount but Isrrael corrected it and test drove the car about 2-3 times to get it PERFECT! Fast forward to today and I have a 2 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude 4x4 and the steering wheel somehow became "offset" so I took it to Isrrael in his new Palm Springs location. He took me right in without an appointment and after about 45 minutes he fixed my "crooked" steering wheel PERFECTLY and it's exactly how I wanted it! Israel is a very, very nice and easy going guy and a real good person to know. He is very accommodating and reasonably priced! These guys botched a head gasket job on my last car. They didn't put the timing chain back on the engine correctly and my engine seized while I was driving it to OC and ruined it. They refused to fix the engine, after I paid them almost $1300 fir the job. Their remedy was a refund of $400 and I had to junk my car. Nice guys. DON'T GO HERE TO FIX YOUR CAR!!! read more

I got 4 new tires put on at America's Tire and in the process they had to snap off a lug nut because it was rusted. They told me to go to Romo's shop to have it replaced. Isrrael ordered the lug nut and I came back the next day to have it installed. He was done so fast I was in shock. Very difficult to work with, argumentative. First off, they don't answer their phones. Romo doesn't speak English so everything is done through translation. Instead of honoring their warrantee, they try to come up with new issues that the vehicle might have. They let my BMW out of the shop without the proper radiator fluid and a cap. Thank you Romo's! My classic Ford truck, (29 years old) was stolen and found within 48 hours by the amazing team at the Palm Springs police department and the sheriff's department in Thermal, CA. Three years later, I am still repairing things that were done incorrectly, not done at all, or are simply wearing out. Master cylinder (first lasted 25 years, second, two years), ignition, water pump, radiator, door handles (damaged during theft), alignment, battery frame... the list is long.
