If u want a shop that preys on the elderly this is the shop for u. So my 81 year old neighbor took his 400 dollar lawn mower in because it wouldn't start when hot. They told him it was the sparkplug and air filter and charged him $200 . The next day it did the same thing so he took it back and told them and they said they would take another look at it. He went in the following week to pick up and this time they said it needed a new carburetor and seal and charged him another $200 . These type of shops make me sick. We purchased a STIHL RMA battery electric lawn mower on sale 10/10/2021 from Ron Jones Power Equipment in Tacoma. Looking forward to using it in the spring of 2022. Hoping to get away from using a gas powered mower. After using for the first time it was not bagging all the grass. We took it back to them let them know what was happening. Got a call back from them saying the mower was fixed. Brought it home tried it still not bagging all the grass; Took it back to them let them know it was still not bagging all the grass. they sent a tech out he started mowing our lawn and it was not bagging all the grass. took it back and that is where it sits. Took my weedeater is for service it would run but not wide open but good enough toget my yard done. when I got back to pick it up it cost over $200.00 said had lot of water in fuel but my can had none in it and said they put new carb. on it but carb does not look new to much dirt and grease on it to be new. I asked for my old carb and the one they gave me was not the one that was on it and still does not run that well. read more

Nice little shop, doesn't seem to have everything I might need from a power equipment store, but the basic necessities and a friendly staff. I wish they sold STIHL brand chainsaw chains, but the Oregon brand chains are fine. Along the same lines when I went in to buy some chains for a pretty standard size bar (3/8 chain on a 20" bar) they had to make the chains while I waited which didn't take long as they got right to work, but I would have thought they'd have a stock of pre-made chains ready to go. Honestly, my loyalties are with a different local STIHL power equipment dealer, but in a pinch these guys are great and I wouldn't hesitate to go there in the future. read more

I took my Honda mower in to Ron Jones Power Equipment for routine service (oil change, blade sharpen, tune up). I asked them to make sure the choke was adjusted correctly because sometimes it takes a couple of pulls on the starter rope to get it started unless I hold the throttle lever forward in the choke mode. I used to start on only one pull, even when cold. They charged me over $200 for this, which is a lot more than I've paid in the past but I get it, prices increase over time. I didn't start the mower before loading it up but when I got home I started it and it ran terrible. It ran great the day I dropped it off for service. I filled the tank with new gas and spent the next two hours mowing a couple of lawns, which was a challenge since the mower was running so poorly. I took the mower back to Ron Jones and explained the problem, that it ran great when I had dropped it off but after they worked on it it ran terrible. The next week when I went in to pick it up they told me it had water in the fuel and the bill to fix it was $115. I explained the sequence of events that when I gave it to them it ran great but when I got it back it ran terrible but he insisted they didn't cause the problem, that it was water in the fuel. If that was the case then the water got in the fuel while in their shop. I was forced to pay the additional $115. When they brought the mower to my truck I started it before loading it up and it still had a surge at full throttle. He told me all Honda's do that. Baloney! I've owned three Honda mowers, this particular one for 7 years, and they have never run like this. I've done a lot of business with Ron Jones Power Equipment over the years but their customer service and quality of service has significantly declined. I won't be going back. read more

I wish that there was an option for zero stars or a caution label. I truly cant believe what just happened to me with this establishment. I recently came into a opportunity for a Honda 21 commercial mower. The one that I came across at this time is the top of the line, just released Honda HRC216 (retail price is $1200). It came to me with a bent crack shaft of which I confirmed by completely disassembling the motor and with that being the case I knew that repair on it would be pretty extensive. Most of the time in this case its easier and less labor intensive to purchase a new motor for the unit and install that. With that being said I went to RON Jones with the intent of purchasing a new motor for my Honda mower. Now since my mower was just released to the market about a year ago most repair shops, distributors, etc. don't have this engine readily available and for me to acquire this engine through Ron jones it would be a $100 freight charge plus cost of engine totaling $685 and possibly 3 weeks out on arrival. After determining this Cliff the technician at Ron Jones suggested to replace the crank shaft. It was then agreed upon that since I had already disassembled the motor that half of the labor was already done and I was informed that it should take approximately 2.5 hours of labor plus parts ( crank shaft, and new gaskets) to complete this repair. I then proceeded to have them take over this repair and I delivered my mower deck and fully disassembled motor in a box (in fact Cliff supplied me with said box to bring in my motor that I fully informed him and he understood would be coming in in pieces and was told that it would take about two weeks to have my mower ready. Well after two weeks passed I gave Ron Jones a call to check in and see about possible ETA. Not only did they not ask who I was at the time but then proceeded to sharply inform me that they are very busy and repairs were projected to be 2-3 weeks out. I then waited for the three week mark and gave another call and this short conversation was a mirror image if the prior one. I then decided to leave them alone as I understood that this time of year (spring) is very busy as I myself have been in commercial landscaping for 12 years. With this being said I chose to be patient. After 5 weeks go by the call me to tell me that my mower is done and ready to be picked up. I then ask them what the total of repair cost is and they inform me that it is $704.00 Now I have a problem with this since when I dropped it off I was under the impression that it was going to take 2.5 hours of labor and the cost of parts (crank shaft, gaskets) and I expected that with their shop rate the total would be approximately $400 not $704. I decided to go in the next morning to pick up my mower and see I we could have a talk about this unforeseen price that they totally blind sided me with as I never received any kind of phone call or communications to discuss change in price. Upon arrival I briefly talk to the gentleman at the counter and as Ron himself walks by and notices that I'm not happy with the outcome he whispers in the counter guys ear to go get Cliff. I then wait for Cliff to come out and we proceed to have a fairly colorful conversation about projected scope of work, parts needed and labor cost. We then dickered back and forth about price and came to a agreed price of $620 including tax. I finally agreed to this amount and was told to go out front and they would bring my mower out. I proceeded to go out by my truck and wait,,, and wait,,, and wait,,,, for about ten minutes all the while thinking to myself that they were trying to pull something on me and sure enough they had decided to pressure wash this slightly older model HRC216 Honda mower and bring this bent and battered, freshly washed and still dripping wet turd out to me in hopes that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Now when I previously mentioned that my mower that I dropped off was the very newest model of Honda HRC216 and on the brand new model there is one very distinctive difference in them and that is that the new models don't have the yellow blade clutch button and this polished turd they brought out did. I then inform this shop boy that this mower isn't mine and he looks at me with the shitty grin and falsely confused face and I ask him to bring the mower I dropped off out. I decide to follow him and notice that when he got around the corner and made eye contact with Cliff he dropped his head in displeasure as I just caught both of them with their pants down. Figuratively speaking. They finally bring out my original mower I dropped off and I load it up and get on with my day. My thoughts is that they were trying to pull the old switcheroo on me and then she'll my mower for probably $800-$900 to make more profit as it would be very easy to turn this mower for a profit. With all this being said I highly do not recommend this place to anyone. These people are crooks read more

I had a great experience with these guys! I took my lawnmower in for a tune up and it came back running better than ever. I bought my honda mower from the previous owner of my current home 12 years ago. Had a tune up done a few years ago by some place on 6th Ave and it never worked right after that. After getting it back from these guys it fired right up. Cliff even called a few days later to make sure everything was operating right and that I wasn't having any problems. The entire staff was great and very helpful. I will continue to take my lawnmower there and when it is time to buy another one I will purchase it from Ron Jones! read more

WORST PLACE EVER. THEFT AND FRAUDULENT COMPANY. Maybe because I am a female and I made the mistake of taking in my lawnmower myself for servicing. My reason for needing service was I ran my mower over some really tall grass, which choked up the engine. I then spent the next 2 hours with my mower turned over in the driveway digging grass out of the engine. During those 2 hours I got a really good look at my blades and was honestly completely amazed at how high quality they were. They were a set of double blades, thick bronze in color, and pretty sharp. No wonder my mower always cut thick, tall grass to perfection. After my 2 hour engine cleaning session, the mower still did now work, so I made the HUGE MISTAKE of taking it to Ron Jones Power Equipment for servicing. They charged me $145 for repairs. When I got my mower back, they had swapped out my amazing blades for a set of black ones that were rusted out, extremely dented, and were dull. (Because my blades were so high quality I check to make sure they were still installed on my mower before I left the shop - so at that time noticed immediately they had been replaced with garbage blades.) I confronted the owner regarding my missing mower parts and he stood behind the counter belly laughing that I was not able to prove they took my lawnmower blades. He laughed and laughed and laughed in my face. I would imagine that my blades at that time were already installed on his mower. He was extremely offensive and never stopped laughing about the missing parts. As I was walking out the door, after having paid him $145 for stealing from me, he was still laughing. Not sure if he would have pulled this thievery had a man brought the mower in. To top it all off, when I went to use the mower the next time, it still did not work! I took to another shop and they told me the reason it did not work is that Ron Jones Power Equipment reversed the entire starting mechanism, so there was no way I was going to get it started without another service appointment! DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. He needs to be put out of business. read more
