My dad is shopping around for a new riding mower for their small HOA and ended up having one of the best sales experiences he can remember. He asked me to post a review for him because he wished he had known about this place years ago. A guy named Rick took more than an hour out of his day to walk through all of the options they had within the HOA's budget and helped him rank or prioritize features and mowers so my dad would have everything he needed to present to the HOA for their final approval. My dad couldn't stop talking to me about Rick and how great he was. It was like he had found his new best friend. And, he found out the mower could be delivered for no extra charge. Doing his due diligence, my dad tried a couple of chain stores after that. The difference was night and day. Not only did some not even have options within their budget, they didn't care if they sold a mower or not, made it clear that if he bought used, there wouldn't be any warranty and it's $100 for delivery. They picked up my zero turn mower to have it serviced and I showed the driver that the rear bagger lid was cracked. He then loaded it up and drove off. When they returned it I noticed that the crack was three times worse than when he picked it up. I asked him about it and his response was yes it looks that way and told me that it should have been removed before they picked it up. I called the shop and asked them what we could do to take care of it and his reply was I can order you a new one and I would have to pay for it. And that I should have pointed it out to his driver at time of pickup. And when I explained to him that I did he just said well it was my fault. I not sure why he even said that I should've told the driver about it because clearly it didn't make a difference when I did. So much for customer service they used to be a great place for sales and service but not anymore. And also they didn't even clean under the deck very well. Don't waste your time taking your equipment to this business for repairs.. Over the years i' have taken several pieces of equipment to them to be repaired. They take forever and once you finally get the call that it's ready to go pick it up get home and realize that it still doesn't work. This has happened way more than once. Mike, the guy coordinating the service department has been absolutely invaluable to me, as a manager of several properties and over 65 acres of land. Not only has Mike kept my equipment running in top form, but he's also been incredibly patient and helpful to me as an equipment operator. My husband dropped off a saw to get fixed. They called and informed him they were unable to fix the saw but he was out of town for work and asked them to please home it until he came home. I was able to go in and pick it up. First they were unable to look up his file. Then they could not find the saw anywhere. After they had been pre-paid.... never did get the saw back. Filed a report with BBB and they never responded to the inquiry. Never ever giving them any of my business again. For all we know they recycled it and got money or sold it.... read more

Was looking to get my relatively new lawn mower repaired after a season of what turned out to be poor gas quality. They were the only place in town that did drop in repair of Husqvarna mowers, so decided to use them. They are genuine and nice people working the shop. Quoted $85 for what was expected to be a carburetor rebuild, but ended up walking about spending $110. Wasn't made aware of the extra cost before showing up, so was upset on the inability to match their quote. Nice people, but expensive. Sometimes you have no other choice, but if you do, this place isn't bad, just spendy. read more

So i went down to get a blade for my lawn tractor gave the guy my model number told him the belt that i needed the one that turns the blades for the deck so he brings this belt out from the back storage with no sleeve explaining length and part number its just a bear belt i asked him if he could measure it cause i need a 117 cm belt but he assured me this was the one long story short it was short so i take it back and this guy has the balls to try and blame me that i told him i ordred the drive belt well that belt is even longer when people cant even admit that they screwed up i hate people like that also i had some work done on my pressure washer well lets just say i ciuld have bought a new on after they replaced the hole carburetor try at your own risk read more

I brought my lawn tractor in to have the deck leveled and blades checked because of uneven lawn cutting. I was quoted approx $40 to level the deck. When the work was finally completed, I was told the bill was $130 - 3 times what I was quoted. I asked why and he stated that numerous parts were replaced. I stated there was no prior authorization to preform work other than level the deck. After disputing my concerns they did lower the price to $100, but that's still over twice what was quoted. Mike Massey the service representative declared we would never do business again, which of course I whole heartedly agree... He still did unauthorized work. Work I could have done myself and he knew that... but he chose to do the work without permission. He claimed that the fix was "minor in his world and that they have lawn tractors in his shop with $500 bills and that he was too busy to contact every customer" as if that some how justifies work without authorization. Find someone else to help you with your mower... rip offs! read more

I took a lawn mower in to have repaired. they did tell me it would be a $40 charge to diagnos the problem and would take a10 days to 2 weeks to get to. I agreed. After the 2 weeks they called to say it had bent blades and the carborator was completely rusted out a $230 repair. I went in to pay for the dianosis $43 and pick up the mower. They offered to recycle it for me. I had another repair shop offer to pay me the diagnosis fee to take it off my hands. I gave the other shop the paperwork from Sumner Lawn and the mower and received my $43. back. They called me to inform me if I wanted the mower back it took a $2.50 part and runs like a champ. Buy local. So worth it I bought a Kobalt 80 volt blower at Lowe's and it took three charges of the batteries to do my front yard. I returned the Kobalt and came to summer lawn and saw. I bought Husqvarna 560BTS worked like a dam charm it was at least 25% stronger then the kobalt. And I only went threw a 1/16 of a tank of gas in 30 minutes. The guy I spoke with here was super knowledgeable they started and ran the machine before they sold it to me. They got me set up with all the other little things needed to run the machine properly and safe. They took me through all of the maintenance needs and how to work the machine. I know the people employed at the big box stores are local and nice people. But I firmly believe the team here has forgotten more about this kind of equipment then the big box store team. The kicker is they even checked to see if my purchase qualified for a discount without me even having to ask. It did and they kicked the warranty out an additional year. because of the discount I paid almost the same price for this machine as I would have for a lesser machine at the big box store. Sumner Lawn and Saw is awful! I took a chain saw in that needed a tune up, I hadn't heard back from them in four days so I gave them a call. At that time I was told they hadn't had a chance too look at it yet. Two more days passed so I went in and said if you haven't fixed my saw yet I'll just take it elsewhere. The Service manger told me my Saw was in a box dismantled and they had a part on order for it. Once the part came in they would re-assemble and the cost would be 37.50 plus parts which were estimated @ $5.00. Two days later (Service Manager) called me and said they couldn't fix my saw because the parts were unavailable. When I returned to pick up my saw they charged me $50.00 for labor which I paid. When Kevin (Service Manager) returned with my Saw it was completely dismantled and my original parts they had on order were missing. When I asked why they didn't re-assemble my unit he said because we couldn't fix it. I asked for the (Owner) and was given the same answer. If I wanted them to re-assemble my saw he would have to charge me labor. I brought them in and fully assembled Stihl Chain Saw and received and fully disassembled Saw with missing parts. I'm in the process of calling King 5 to get Jesse on my side! read more

They were great when I was buying a $6,000 mower with a mulching kit. A year later I came back to get new blades. They gave me blades that did not look like the ones I had paid for when I spent extra money on the mulching kit. When I pointed out that I had paid for the mulching kit, they did not give me the full mulching kit because they gave me the blades to use with a catcher attachment. Rather than apologize (all I wanted) they were really rude and said I should have made sure everything was right before I left with the new mower. This past week I needed a new gas trimmer and chain saw. You can bet I did not go back to Sumner Lawn & Saw. Never again. read more

Excellent Customer Service!!!! After trying to get straight information from Lowes and Home Depot on a pole saw, I finally went to Sumner Lawn and Saw. It was like stepping back into the 50s in regards to service and feeling like they cared about helping me find the right product. I ended up buying a Husqvarna pole saw and later went back and bought a Hustler Raptor mower. The customer service, knowledge and sincerity can't be beat. They service everything before you buy it and stand behind their products. I finally felt like someone had my back. Ryan delivered my mower and did a great job of explaining it's operation/maintenance. If you want to enjoy better customer service and piece of mind, BUY your lawn and saw equipment from Sumner Lawn 'n Saw. They also repair HD and Lowes equipment , but places like this need sales to survive......contrary to popular belief, there isn't much money in the repair business. I hope more people will support this small business with sales instead of buying items at Lowes and HD and only having them repaired at this place. Update: The belt on my Hustler mower broke and I called their service dept. thinking I would drive there and get a new belt and put it on myself (especially because this is their busiest time of year). The service manager said he would prefer to check out the mower to make sure everything was functioning correctly so it didn't happen again. He sent out Ryan (who is AWESOME) to pick it up that same morning! I had the mower back that same week and they had replaced the belt at no charge! read more

I haven't actually been to this business, but I did make a phone call. A little over two years ago I purchased a Husqvarna (just outside the warranty) riding lawn mower and late last summer it just stopped working. I worked on it for a couple of hours but couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start, so I ended up storing it for the winter. There is only 24 hours on the mower's run time. When I went to see if it magically fixed itself a couple of days ago I was rather upset, yet not surprised, it still wouldn't turn over. I called a couple of places today and every business was booked for three weeks. I explained the issue to Sumner Lawn N' Saw and the service guy said that it could be a stuck exhaust valve and to bring it in to have it checked out. That got me to thinking that I could probably fix it myself. I drained the oil, removed the cover, and inspected the valves. The guy was right, the exhaust valve was stuck closed. I adjusted it and checked the spacing between the pivot. I replaced the oil and the 21 HP Kohler engine started right up. Although I didn't use their service, the fact that they were able to troubleshoot the issue over the phone shows the expertise of this establishment. If I ever have anymore issues that I am not able to fix, I will be certain to take my small power equipment to them. Thanks a bunch! read more

Absolutely will never go here again. I took my running chainsaw in to see why it wasn't running perfectly. they took it apart to diagnose it. I paid for the diagnosis and did not want them to fix it because it was something I could fix myself. Not to mention the kit and parts that are needed to fix the carburetor are less than $10, and they wanted to charge me almost 300 to fix it . So they gave my saw back to me completely disassembled and in a plastic bag. It would be like taking your car to a car dealership having them diagnose the problem and then telling them you want to wait to fix it and getting it back on a tow truck in pieces. Unacceptable. The disassembly and assembly should be included in the diagnosis price. Not to mention it's just bad business. They received a working piece of equipment and gave it back nonworking. read more

I brought my Husqy 440e to have them take a look at it. It stopped running after a long week of tree cutting. Two weeks later I had to call to find out what is the issue. Low compression, needs new piston and rings, $295 to fix. I only paid $250 for it and I thanked them and took it home. I did not pay much attention to the bill until I got home. On top of the charge to look at it, they tacked on a $2.50 fuel disposal charge( while there, I didn't check to see if it had any fuel in it), even though they did not empty the tank, a $2.50 parts charge, even though they just checked the compression. So if you decide to take to them, be mindful of the extra charges. I use to race MX and know how to rebuild 2-strokes and I'm sure the piston need not replacing, just rings and a hone job. Those part are about $20 + tax/shipping from Husqvarna. I have to now even question whether they even pulled the spark plug...Hope this is helpful read more

Live in the area, basically neighbors. Rick the owner went to school with my brothers, and acknowledged as much when we spoke during my Stihl chain saw purchase. Told him I was buying a new saw for my husband to trim our 8 Cherry Blossoms out front. My husband used the saw for a majority of the next day, and finally threw the chain. Being he is an older experienced chain saw operator, large and small, he knew to stop the saw immediately and reset the chain. In trying to put the chain back on he noticed two of the links had popped up behind one another kinking the chain and making it unable to reset. He took it in the next morning to try and understand what could be done, and inquire why after being thrown once the chain would even do this.? Rick was busy out back so he spoke to a younger employee who was at the desk. The younger employee proceeded to tell my husband that he didn't understand much about modern chain saws and that the chain was thrown and useless because he was cutting brush, when my husband actually told him he was trimming Cherry Blossom limbs and knew quite well how to use a saw and did not appreciate his attitude, and his insinuation of lack of knowledge and understanding of the matter. Clearly my husband did not want to argue or go round and round with this young chain saw expert. He merely was looking for some reasonable customer service on a new several hundred dollar saw bought the previous day. The employee, after giving my husband a hard time over the matter for several minutes insisted all he could do was sell him a new pack of two chains for forty some dollars. My husband realized he needed to just leave and talk about it with me back at home so he said thank you for his help and left. Ultimately there was no customer service, only a short way to a customers concern was to return the chain saw. We just bought a new home so we were looking for a used riding mower to get us by. We stopped by sumner lawn n saw and found a good used husqvarna rider for a good price. The sales person started the mower and ran it and said everything worked great. I didnt run it for myself (My fault for not testing it myself). I bought it and took it home and fired it up to try to mow. The vibration was horrible. I tore it apart and found that the blade was severely bent. I went to my local harware store and bought another set. After installing them I found it didnt fix the issue. After further digging I found that the shaft that holds the blade was bent. I was very upset that I was sold a damaged mower. I took the part to sumner lawn and saw expecting to be told that since I bought a used mower and it was as is, that I would be responsible for buying the new part at $50+. The salesperson went back got the part and told me no charge. Wow how am I supposed to react when I am expecting to be treated like I am there to screw them over, and they treat me great and make things right. I bought a small 16" chainsaw from the great folks here. I was looking for something that I could use for small projects around the house. When I arrived I was greeted by whom I Think may have been the owner. He asked me many questions and then helped me pick out the perfect saw that will fit my needs. After choosing the saw, he took me and the saw outside and showed me how to start the saw and the safe ways to use it. I was very impressed that he took the time to show me how to use the saw. You can't get that type of service at a box store. The salesman then recommended some accessories that I would need to have a successful day of wood cutting and I was onto way. So, a few days later, I ran into a problem with the saw. My chain fell off and I was having trouble keeping the going after It was started. I called up the salesman. He was more then happy to help me. Since I lived close , he asked me to stop back by with the saw. As soon as I got there he helped me right away. He inspected the saw and put the chain. After going over the starting procedure and reviewing the correct way to cut wood, it was determined that I was doing a few things wrong 1. The chain came off because i was cutting brush instead of logs or branches 2. The saw wasn't staying going because I ran I too long at lower rpms. It turns out that saws need to be ran at full throttle. So...from start to finish I was very happy with my experience at sumner lawn n saw. I bought a lawnmower here about 2 years ago....I hated it :( Not their fault, it was mine. I went back and talked to them and they was SO gracious and accomodating. They made me a screamin' deal on the lawn mower that I really needed, and took the one in on trade that I hated. I bought the first time for price and got what I paid for. I was having problems with my Echo Blower and went to Sumner Lawn and Garden to trade it in for a new blower. Instead of selling me something I didn't need the very helpful gentleman gave me advice on using fuel with NO Ethanol in it. (this fixed all my problems) What I was impressed with is that he could have sold me something I didn't need and he simply gave me good advice.
