Its hard to find a sushi place with a 100% health department score. Im picky about everything Sushi and its the first thing I look at when I try a new place. It needs to be clean and they need to follow the rules. We noticed Ronin's had a 100% flawless one and headed that direction. Its a little difficult to find but after missing the street we quickly figured out where it was and got to it without too much of a hassle. Service was quick. There are two seating options: inside and outside. It was 90 degrees at 2 pm so we opted to eat inside We had actually come from Dublin Tavern which is excellent btw but we just had salads with no protien and we were craving sushi... or, should I say "I was craving sushi" and my husband was very accommodating to that request. Since this was an after thought meal we just ordered one roll each. I chose the lollipop roll and he chose the Alaskan roll. Alaskan is seaweed wrap, rice, salmon, cucumber, avocado. Nice sized roll and for 6.95 I was impressed by everything in it, presentation portion and quality 5+++/5. Excellent. The lollipop roll: salmon, tuna, crab, avocado rolled in thin cucumber. Skewered together looks like a lollipop. Very creative. Very generous potions. Nice presentation. Sizing was a bit too big for my preference. Hard to eat. Do not recommend eating it in one bite... you may choke. Lol. (Seriously.) I also ordered one order of tuna sashimi. That is three HUGE pieces of high quality raw tuna. No rice. My husband and I frequent this place a lot. I am an absolute fan of their sushi lunch combo. You get the option of two or three rolls plus soup at a very reasonable price. This place is worth checking out if you're craving sushi. Although it's not "omg" level, it is still pretty tasty. I couldn't be happier that Ronin is finally open for dine in again! I used to come here all the time before COVID. Following COVID they were takeout only for a couple of years. Which made it difficult since I live a ways away. But they are open again and to my surprise the high quality and large portions have not changed! There were not a lot of people dining in, only about 2-3 tables at a time. Which made the ambiance a bit weird. I think them being takeout only for so long really hurt their dine in business. Before COVID they had a buy one get one half off rolls happy hour, which included complimentary edamame. I'm not sure if this exists anymore. It'd be a bummer if not. The server was helpful and attentive. Sake selection was pretty limited, but cocktails are good. I had Ronin bookmarked to try for a while now. Then Yelper Lisa D reminded me yesterday why I wanted to try it again. My husband was craving sushi so we ordered it online off their website. He got two rolls which was like 16 pieces of sushi. I got the mango chicken and hot and sour soup. My meal was so good I could barely finish it all. I will definitely try the Rock n Roll sushi next time I come again. My husband wants to get the Dragon Roll next time. So you know we will definitely be back soon to get our sushi fix. read more

We have literally walked by this place dozens of times and never stopped in. Decided to order in tonight and I was so impressed with the quality of the sushi. I ordered the Pro Ronin Combo which comes with 5 pieces of nigiri and the Sunset Roll which is mixed crab, avocado topped with salmon and it's amazing! The fish was all so fresh and the rice was soft yet sticky and didn't fall apart. The nigiri was also delicious! And the meal comes with miso soup as well and I wasn't able to even finish it all and for under $20 that is a steal. My husband got the vegetable lo mein and the veggie spring rolls. I had a few bites and they were definitely tasty! The edamame was also enjoyable. Would definitely recommend Ronin and glad we ended up giving them a try! read more

So I always bypassed this place because of all the bad reviews years ago. Last weekend I was craving sushi and this was one of the few places on UberEats, so I gave it a shot. Fortunately all the recent reviews have been much better. I wish I'd known about the half off Sushi nights but when the craving hits it wasn't on that night. So I spent more but the rolls were good. Tried this place for a quick bite. I ordered the oshinko maki (not cut) and the spicy scallop roll. The oshinko maki was as good as I've had. And I have had many. I've been coming here for about five years now and not much has changed! The staff, the menu, and the deals are pretty much the same as they were five years ago! The staff - Everyone (for the most part) is super friendly and welcoming! A few of them have memorized my order and will ask me if I want to place the same order prior to them placing it. All of the waitresses are super nice and sweet to my three year old daughter who joins me on every sushi date and has been since the day she was born. They are always checking to make sure that she and I are well taken care of and this is something that I really appreciate! The menu - If you're not a fan of sushi, they do have Chinese dishes. However, I only come here for the sushi so I can't rate the dishes/meals here. My absolute favorite roll is the Rock N Roll! It is a MUST! Other favorites include the Vegas, Mia, and the Dancing Roll! The rolls come pretty large in size compared to some other sushi restaurants in the Columbus area which is another huge plus! The deals - They have so many great deals! 1) Free edamame comes with your sushi order. 2) They have buy one get one half off sushi rolls during the week! I think the hours are 3:30-6:30 PM. 3) They have pretty amazing lunch deals too. I think I got two rolls and a soup for under $10 one day. I feel bad writing this because the staff seemed really nice, but the food just was not good. It's a small restaurant without much atmosphere, but I was craving sushi recently and I had a gift certificate to use. I ordered two specialty rolls: Soho roll and Out of Control roll. When the plate arrived it was just HUGE rolls thrown on a plate. It looked very carelessly made and nothing like the beautiful pictures in the menu. Decided last minute on a Friday at 7 pm to go for Sushi. Had eaten here maybe 2 yrs ago so knew where I was going. Location may be hard to find so scout out ahead of time. For a party three, we walked in and were immediately seated toward the back of restaurant. Atmosphere was OK and low key. Complimentary edamame was decent, but would would have been mad if I had purchased. Cold and no salt. We ordered a total of 5 rolls and the first 3 were pretty solid. The final 2 rolls were a shrimp tempura and one of their deep fried rolls which was excessively doughy . Price was OK. We had one person in our group who has just begun to eat sushi and does so in a controlled manner...but loved and raved about the mango roll. Had some items Uber'd to me tonight, my first experience with this Dublin, Ohio eatery. I wanted to try a new place which in this day and age can be sort of a risk, especially with raw fish. Unlike my usual MO, i ordered prior to looking at reviews. Most of the lower reviews dealt with rude or poor service. Luckily with Uber that wasn't a monkey in my personal circus. An appetizer called Turtle Shells caught my eye. Essentially a whole avocado cut in half lengthwise, covered in panko crunchies and filled with a pate of spicy tuna and fried. I don't think avocado was meant to be deep fried, the texture was way too soft. To be honest the tuna slurry when cooked was like a firm meatball. The two together was kind of gross. Be better to fry the shells and add fresh spicy tuna prior to frying. But worse yet! The avocado seen pictured was beginning to rot with black goo invading the usual green. No flavor either. A total miss. It did fit perfectly in my trash can though. So I moved on to a pair of handrolls that arrived maki style. Ugh! The order clearly said hand. Sigh. Oh well it happens when doing delivery I guess. One was a spicy scallop roll which was fine, a bit boring and way too large if I had anything negative to say. The second was a salmon skin roll which is what I use to gauge a new fish place. It was okay but not fun in maki style since the pieces of sushi this time seemed cut too thinly. Overall neither would make me run back there. So many awesome sushi places in cowtown. The standout of my order was a flavorful cup of hot and sour soup. It's among the best I can find around here, with lots of ingredients and the perfect viscosity. I read someone said this restaurant has a Chinese owner, so maybe that's why it was the best of the rest. I added a little heat and it was near perfect. Get me a gallon jug! For the heck of it I added an order of Thai Drunken Noodles with Chicken to eat the next day. It was just okay too. The noodles were too thin for true integrity of the recipe, the chicken slices had that softish rubbery texture that some Asian places create somehow. This particular dish needs to have thicker protein chunks, more basil, and better less wilted veggies. And, of course, the customary long wider rice noodles. I asked for Thai spicy and they did throw in some decent heat but nowhere near what a true Thai only eatery could offer. But hey it's edible and will be devoured I'm sure. All in all, I can easily find better sushi options and better Thai options in this town. The all-in-one approach to Asian "fusion" can be a double-edged sort, right? Bottom line: The hot and sour soup was truly award-winning but not enough there for a round two at Ronin. Arigat-no. read more

When I got home - the food wasn't very good. The pan fried Gyoza were soggy, the sesame chicken was undercooked - what was cooked tasted lousy. I wound up throwing that whole thing away. The shrimp fried rice was overloaded with curry and they burned parts of it. Threw about half of that away. We also ordered a few different types of sushi which was nothing special. Learned my lesson. Won't go here again nor will I recommend it. $60 bucks wasted. read more

So I was told Ronin was a good, hidden sushi gem. I was also told Sushi Ting was a good, hidden sushi gem. After having sushi at these good, hidden sushi gems, I end up burping fish oil and feel ill the rest of the evening. WHY. Frankly, I liked it had a nice, open patio, and the interior wasn't huge - but our server was inattentive if not borderline careless - it was definitely a "why am I serving you" vibe, not the feeling you want from a server. And in that tight space... it wasn't busy. Since it was dinner, it came with edamame - which had a second skin - my girlfriend said it happens from being steamed too long - they were quite... soaked. I suppose this is the equivalent of "being left under a heat lamp." Reviewing the menu, it's... a lot. It's sushi. It's Japanese. It's... chinese. It's thai. It's all over the place. Ordered the steamed dumplings, and they were... warm. I've had better dumplings from Trader Joe's frozen section. Ordered the firecracker roll - a simple, spicy roll. WHY DID I ALLOW MYSELF TO FINISH IT. I regret it, but I was convinced I was just not giving it a chance. And my insides paid for it. Basically... it's far enough away that I would never go out of my way for it. But the entire experience left me with a bad taste (literally and figuratively) that I can't recommend this place. read more
