I have been coming to ronin for years. Their sushi is some of the best in Dublin in my opinion. Their peanut dressing on the green salad is great too. My FAVORITE roll has to be the samurai roll, I always modify with a side of spicy mayo and my pieces cut a bit smaller and they have always gotten the order right. I've always loved Ronin for their sushi rolls. I've never had anything else from there, but I can say that I've never been disappointed. After the covid pandemic, I had a chance to dine in on their back patio. The tables were all spaced out and had decent lighting even though it was dark out. Restaurant also seemed clean a We stick to our usual rolls- Hawaiian, Amazing Tuna, Funky roll, and the 4th roll usually varies. Their rolls are cut big, but it doesn't bother me too much since they taste great! Tonight, we ordered for delivery through Uber eats. I'm not sure if you can call and pick up- but we were too lazy to drive so we took advantage of them being on Uber eats since there's not a lot of good sushi on Uber eats! Again, we got the same rolls as usual and they were boxes very nicely with soy sauce, chopsticks, and napkins. (I do believe you have to ask for these items?) We had a craving for sushi so we found Ronin nearby. My wife loved her spicy tuna so much it was gone before I could get a picture. I got the tempura vegetables and we got the pineapple curry with shrimp to share. The portions were great for the price. My tempura arrived hot and still crunchy! Good layers of flavor in the curry. I have tried this place on 2 different occasions. The first time, I was VERY happy with my veggie roll. I had also ordered the cucumber salad which was just ok to me. It had crushed peanuts which wasn't bad but it also lacked moisture so dry cucumber and peanuts was a little strange. In addition to the roll and salad, I had also ordered Spring rolls which were cold and greasy. So my first visit was a 6/10 but the veggie roll was so good I gave it another chance. My second time around, I only ordered the veggie tempura roll which included tempura yams, cucumber and some other veggies. It's normally topped with avocado but I opted out of that. The sauces are normally a spicy Mayo and sriracha but I requested to have the sriracha left off and eel sauce added instead. They followed my modifications perfectly which was great but after eating most of the roll I found a piece of shrimp! I am full vegetarian and don't eat any meat at all. I instantly stopped and called the shop (after instantly becoming sick). I spoke with 2 people who refused to do anything for me and could not under that I was severely sick. I was yelled at and made to feel like a liar although I offered to bring the food back to show them. I unfortunately really enjoyed the flavors but after realizing I was eating meat and the menu clearly said my roll was vegetarian friendly, I will not be returning. read more

I will have to come back another time to see if my rating would change or not. We ordered sushi, appetizers and 1 entree. The lemon grass chicken was average as was the buffalo roll. Lobster volcano roll was delicious and the Thai chicken lettuce wraps. The edamame appetizer was over cooked or something. We thought you ate the whole pod but the pod was too rough and chewy to enjoy. The peas inside were great. The service was slow and I think only one waitress was working, but she knew her menu and got our order correct. Great place to go during a 1 hour lunch break. There are seats inside as well as outside on the patio. The lunch specials are great and they serve you lots of food which is a great value for the money. Today I went for the Bento Box with Chicken Tempura, this meal filled me up and kept me full for the remainder of the work day. The food is fresh and tastes great! The chicken Tempura comes with 3 nice sized pieces of chicken, and under it is a gold mine of zucchini and sweet potato tempura. There are also 4 California roll pieces, 2 Gyoza (pot stickers) and your choice of soup or salad. I recommend the salad. The salad has a very nice peanut dressing that is very addicting, you might want to ask for extra. To complete the box there is fried rice. I was in the mood for some takeout sushi and saw the amazing reviews for this spot that was not too far from my hotel. So I ordered some General Tso's chicken and a roll for an appetizer. The first mistake was that they seemed to be running a daycare (nightcare?) in the restaurant when I got there. There were 3 or 4 small children - apparently children of the workers - with blankets, pajamas, and iPads loudly playing foreign language cartoons - laying around the first couple booths inside the door. I understand how difficult and expensive childcare can be so that was not a big deal, but I picked up my order and quickly realized that they put the hot entree and the sushi in the same bag. This meant that the sushi roll was nice and hot by the time I rescued it - warm sushi kinda grosses me out. I am used to General Tso's chicken that is a bready piece of chicken. It looked like they used the same chicken i traditionally see with sweet and sour chicken that did not hold the sauce properly. No vegetables were served with the entree and the condensation meant the sauce was really watery and the breading soggy. I ended up discarding the vast majority of the dinner. Maybe eating in is better, but I won't be giving this shot another chance. read more

I wanted some place to get some Pad Thai that wasn't quite as expensive as P.F. Changs and a co-worker told me about this place. We arrived to a really beautiful, albeit slightly small, asian restaurant and were immediately seated. I noticed they have a really nice patio outside with tables and chairs with umbrellas. We were seated inside however. I ordered the lunch version of the Pad Thai combo with Beef, Chicken and Shrimp. I was then asked...something..wasn't sure what because the lady had a really thick accent but eventually my co-worker and I figured out she was asking if I wanted a salad or soup. I chose the hot and sour soup. I also ordered a spicy salmon roll. The hot and sour soup came out shortly thereafter and it was fantastic. It was the best hot and sour soup I've had in a long time, only one place that I can think of in Virginia has better hot and sour soup. I would have liked a bit more sour and it would have been the best ever. It was FILLED with tons of mushrooms and other "stuff" that they put into hot and sour soup.. The spicy salmon sushi was next and it was really good, although not very spicy. The sushi itself was presented very neatly and wrapped tightly and had a lot of filling in there. Like I said, I could have used just a bit more spice but the wasabi took care of that for me. And lastly my entree, the lunch pad thai combo, arrived and it was awesome presentation (see picture). The portion size was just perfect and everything was excellent. The noodles were cooked perfectly and it had plenty of meat in it. Some of the meat was slightly fatty but not terrible, just be aware. Also, I would have liked a bit more shrimp (I got 2) but for the price it was a good value I think. My friend got the Ronin Delight (see picture) and he really liked his as well. All in all I had an excellent, huge meal and the bill only came to $13 (without tip) so you can't beat that. The service is excellent, the food is delicious and the restaurant is really super neat and super clean. This place is a winner and my co-worker buddy and I will definitely be back here many times in the future I think.. read more

Probably the best sushi on the northwest side. Kept passing this place, meaning to stop in, and finally just made a special trip. It's in a pretty nondescript building, but inside it's nice. The service was very good, and when I left the owner (I assume) asked how everything was.) I had a piece of unagi and a Vegas roll. Both were excellent. Ronin has some great and not so great things. We have been here a few times and are confused. The atmosphere is nice. It's clean and everyone that works there is extremely nice and helpful. They have outdoor seating too which is cool. They also have a free edamame app which is awesome. The first time we visited we got a few hand rolls. Wow! I loved them. They tasted so fresh. It was probably the best spicy tuna hand roll I've ever had. The next time we got a few noodle entrees and a spicy tuna roll. I was so disappointed. The spicy tuna was warm and the crispy flakes tasted off. The noodle entrees were oily, artificial, and bland tasting. Either way, I do plan on visiting again. I will be ordering sushi only though. Tried out Ronin for the first time last night. Some of our good friends moved over to the Tuttle area and we decided to check it out for dinner and drinks last night. My boyfriend and our friends all started with hot sake. I opted for just water, but I did get a hot miso soup(I can't get sushi without starting with miso soup). The waitress brought us complementary edamame, which was awesome because usually you have to pay for it and I love a light salty snack while waiting for piles of sushi rolls and nigiri. Whenever we go out to sushi with these friends in particular(and they are pretty much our sushi buddies, we go with them just about every time) we all order one specialty roll, one regular roll, whatever nigiri we individually want, and then a bonus specialty roll and then we split it all. Each of us gets a piece of each roll, then we take turns picking the rest until it's all gone. It always looks like a ridiculous amount of sushi and it is, but it's a great way to try things you wouldn't normally get and then we all split the bill, so it works out evenly. Here are the rolls we got last night: Philadelphia Roll Spicy Tuna Spicy Salmon Salmon and Avocado Big Ronin(tempura shrimp topped with sashimi variety, spicy mayo, and crab salad) Rock n' Roll(salmon, crab, cream cheese, topped with spicy mayo and bacon and garlic crisps) Samurai Roll(tempura shrimp and avocado topped with salmon sashimi) Pyramid of Egypt roll(tempura shrimp, tuna, avocado, topped with sriracha, wasabi mayo, and eel sauce) Dublin Roll(salmon, yellowtail, and shrimp topped with tuna, avocado, and spciy mayo) My favorite was the Pyramid of Egypt roll and the Big Ronin. But all of them were good. The bill came to $125, but my friend had a $20 groupon and then we split it 4 ways(and that was with the alcohol too). I thought that was pretty affordable for the quality of sushi we got and the quantity. I think this may be a new favorite for me. read more

When I heard about Ronin's Happy Hour I knew I had to check it out. I am a bit of a snob when it comes to sushi, only because I know what I like, and I have had it enough to know what's fresh and what isn't. My experience was simply...meh. Food/Drink: I ordered a "Blushing Samurai" martini. The description on their menu says that it's made with Absolute Citron, Pomegranate liquor, lemonade, and soda. I didn't taste any of those in the martini I ordered. I shrugged it off and still drank it. I wonder if my server put in the wrong order or something? It tasted like a very weak watermelon martini, lol. Was only 4 dollars with their happy hour so I didn't mind. They give out complimentary edamame. Mine tasted like it had been steaming/boiling for an hour and was ridiculously over-salted. Again, I really don't mind considering the fact that it was free.. but if you're going to serve it you should at least keep in mind when using condiments that people are going to be eating it. Anyway, I started with an Age Tofu appetizer. The portion was huge for only 4.95, which would have been lovely had I ordered it as a meal and not an appetizer.. I ended up not even getting 1/4 through it by the time my food came. Ended up leaving it behind, too. They put the tofu on the side and don't have it sitting in the sauce which is different from other places I've been to. I liked that. My issue with the tofu was that it didn't spend enough time in the fryer and so it was a bit doughy since the batter had not been cooked through. Otherwise good value/size. For my main meal, I tried the Pyramid of Egypt Roll and the Mango Roll for sushi this time around. I don't know what it is about this place but the fish, rice and vegetables taste abnormally bland and in some cases.. dry? If it weren't for the sauces they put on top I would've had trouble eating it.. this is coming from someone who enjoys simple sushi and sashimi as well, so I don't think my pallet is to blame. I liked the Mango Roll the best out of the two, despite the frequent suggestions on here and other sites to try the Pyramid of Egypt. My bill was only about 24 dollars which is a really good deal considering I got two specialty rolls, a cocktail, and two appetizers (if you count the edamame). Service/Atmosphere: I don't really know where to begin with this one. Their patio is small and quite nice actually. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that I could see my server watching me the ENTIRE time I ate through the half-a**ed black-dimmed door/windows. I'm not sure if they realize this.. but the people sitting outside can still see you! And it's frankly really creepy and unnerving to have somebody glaring at you your entire meal. When I ate there last time it was inside. The restaurant may be new but the floors are rough/scratched up. Not really sure what they were going for with that one. The waitress that served us last time was somewhat awkward and definitely RUDE. I don't even recall my server saying hello to us, or even smiling. I felt extremely rushed to finish my meal and get out. Server either brought me the wrong martini or the menu description is completely wrong. I should also mention that everything came out at once... It was overwhelming. They need to work a little bit more on food timing, in my opinion. I'm usually not picky but I had only taken one bite of my appetizer when my dinner came out. The way I see it I have no reason to go there.. Even for the happy hour. The service was rude and awkward, and the food was mediocre at best. Sorry Ronin, I really wanted to like you as you are conveniently located near my home, but 2 stars is honestly pushing it. I would rather drive the extra 15-20 minutes and pay full price at my usual sushi restaurant than go back for your happy hour :(. read more

Staying at the neighboring Marriott, I needed some chow after a grueling work day. Didn't want anything heavy, so sushi seemed right and Ronin got good enough reviews. I will say, food was great. First, they brought out edamame on the house. Never had a place do that. Nice touch. I ordered their coconut chicken soup. Delicious. I then ordered the 'sushi' sandwich roll. Ronin is another sushi lunch stop for this girl. I come here quite often since it's near my work. If you come to Ronin you can expect fresh sushi and hot miso soup for those doing the lunch special. But for picky friends who may not want to endulge in raw fish culinary delights... Ronin also carries an Asian fusion menu, which includes Chinese American favorites. Unfortunately, none which I can review on. I stick with the sushi. The set up in Ronin is odd. It's most in part, because of the location. It's nestled in between Noodle N Company and Casa Patron in the corner of a pop-up strip mall. So, the walk way is narrow and tables line the wall and to your other side is the sushi bar. While Ronin does have some accomodation for semi large groups (5-6 people) I wouldn't reommend bringing a REALLY large group here. Again, this is a sushi place that I could recommend for a nice lunch date, but it leaves much to be deisred for a dinner setting. We stopped here for dinner and found the rolls to be underwhelming and more on par for lunch for the price we were paying. The service here is amazingly fast. Service is... usually ok. Not superb, but not bad, either. I'll still keep coming here and if you are in the tuttle area and need a sushi fix and QUICK, then this is by all means your joint. read more

Dined here today (10/22/14) for lunch with some of my coworkers. I had the three roll combo, which for $10.50 is not a bad deal. The rolls themselves weren't bad. I had the tuna avocado roll, the spicy tuna roll, and california roll. The wasabi was too old though and a tad bit stale. Most of its kick was gone due to prolonged exposure to air. The service was pretty atrocious however. It took them 10 minutes to get my drink order, and another 15 minutes to actually bring out my drink. Yes, I spent 25 minutes of my 60 minute lunch break waiting for a glass of diet coke. Aside from the sushi here, their menu consists of such traditional Japanese staples such as chicken lo mein, thai panang curry, and general tso's chicken... wait what? Yeah, this place is more of a pan-Asian fusion and not at all Japanese. Which is pretty confusing given their clearly Japanese restaurant name. One of my coworkers got their chicken lo mein, and the volume of food was also underwhelming for what it cost. Who knows, maybe their panang curry and general tso's are amazing. But since this restaurant is named Ronin Sushi and not Thai Paradise or Happy Wok, I'm judging them on their sushi and service. 2 stars. read more

Driver delivered the wrong food. We realized this after emptying the bag and opening the container of sushi. Called the restaurant and they had the driver come back with the right order. The driver knocks on the door and demands the other order. We tell her we already opened it and it's not sanitary to take it back- esp during COVID times. She demands we pay for the other order she mistakenly gave us before giving us our actual order. She says she can't take card and doesn't have change so essentially forces us to give her $20 for an $11.50 order-this is addition to the $35 we already paid for our order. We paid extra for food we didn't want and went in the trash, and in addition tipped her about $12 to scream at my mother in law and force us to pay for food that wasn't ours. ***we could have packed up the food that wasn't ours and put it back in the bag so as not to pay-but we couldn't do so in good conscience having touched it and knowing she wanted to THEN give it to the person who ordered it originally.*** read more

Awesome rolls and great happy hour with 50% off second rolls and $2 off drinks. The happy hour is even on Saturdays until 6:30pm. The service was very good and the food came out very fast. I sat at the bar which I always prefer for a sushi joint. And as at any good sushi place when you sit at the bar they serve you directly. The sparkling sake was very good, I hadn't had that before, but the plum wine was so-so. They had Kikkoman plum wine on the menu but it was an off brand grape wine with plum added. The rolls were standard American style rolls piled high with delicious toppings. Everything tasted, looked and smelled fresh.
