Tai's Asian Bistro is the utility infielder for Asian food. Loads of options across East and Southeast Asian cuisines - easy to make everyone happy when one wants sushi, another a Thai green curry, and another Szechuan hot. And boy is this place teenager friendly! Not because it is filled with teenagers but because the portions are enormous and can either fill that kid's hollow leg or be plenty for lunch for you the next day. So for most mere mortals this is a 2 for 1 meal deal. With all the selection does come a little chaos in terms of being overwhelmed by the options, not necessarily knowing you order sushi at a separate register than the other options, and the general crowd milling about waiting for pickup. As they clearly do a lot of take out. We have done both dine-in and take out. Dine-in is utilitarian and functional (and the outside porch can be a little less crazy) but it is not where you go to have a quiet, intimate dinner. The sound of the kitchen, the crowds, and the TVs mean there is an underlying soundtrack. So definitely a go to for quick, for wide set of choices, for prodigious portions, and for good functional food. read more

I ordered the chicken egg roll, the soft shell crab sushi and pot stickers. She had a noodle dish and a sushi roll. She said her noodle dish was bland. Tai's has great tasting food with huge portion sizes for a really good price. There's plenty of seating and the food comes out pretty quickly. I always get the Korean bbq ribs. The flavor of the meat is really good and I'm usually full after eating half so I take the rest home for another meal. My parents usually split the pad Thai and still have enough to take some home. At first Tai's really blew my socks off and I was so shocked at the amount of food they give! Over time its novelty wore off and I saw it for what it really was. Picked up takeaway lunch yesterday and couldn't believe how busy they were! I've never come at lunch time, but that's the spot. Whole parking lot was full and every table inside taken (you know this isn't a small place!) It is surprisingly loud when the restaurant is full. Got my order super fast - pork banh mi, wonton soup, egg rolls, pea pod chicken and fried rice. Everything was still piping hot when I got home. This is the spot for unbeatable value. The portions are massive, especially for the Chinese dishes. First time trying a lot of the items and loved everything. Wonton soup was full of tasty things and flavored well. Great value at about $3 Pork banh mi had great baguette-like bread and every part was delicious. Good value at $7.50. Pea pod chicken was sooo good, especially for a pretty entry-level/blander dish. I'm a spicy food lady, but this was for a family member who doesn't like spice. It was hot, fresh, and really delicious. The service was quick and the food was delicious! My friends and I were so pleased with each of our selections we happily shared them and could not decide which was better. The portions were huge. Another hidden gem within the Columbus area. Back for my yearly visit! Love this restaurant as it serve some of the best Asian cuisine in the Columbus area. They offer many different Asian style dishes and I don't think I've had a bad one yet. Got the General Tso's chicken this time around. It has a great crunch with just the right heat with it. Note if you love spicy get them extra wet. If you're looking for some punishment get them extra wet and spicy. They loved to be challenged in the kitchen. Staff is quick, nice and ready to go. It's been a awhile since I've been here. As alot of the reviews have mentioned, this place offers humongous portion sizes of their food. There's also a lot of variety for you to pick from. Their menu spans from traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, to Japanese. They also offer Boba teas. The food is made fresh to order, however the taste can vary, depending upon the day and chef. At least that's what I've noticed. It's always decent enough though. I've had 'excellent' there before but sometimes it's just not fantastic even when I order the exact same thing. Pricing has gone up through the years, but I think it's still very reasonable and a good value. The place is spacious with lots of seating. Basically you order at the counter and they give you a buzzer. You have to clear your own table after eating. We came for lunch and there was hardly anybody there on a weekday. It gets packed during the dinner though. They do ALOT of carry out business too. There was enough leftover for me to have an actual lunch and dinner the next day. A weird but good experience. Ordering: the place is kind of...chaotic. You walk in and there is an ordering kiosk/kitchen in the back. The menu doesn't have prices on it, so you're just guessing here. Get in line, place your order, be surprised at the total, and then you'll get a little light up disk thing that they will ping when your order is ready. Seating: see also: chaotic. The place is crowded with long tables, larger people or those in wheelchairs may have trouble traversing through the rows of tables and chairs. There is also a little bar to the side for sushi. Food: ok this is what made it a 5-star rating. The foooood! We got 2 meals and 2 appetizers to share. The shrimp pad Thai was amazing and the tofu curry was perfectly spiced with large chunks of tofu. The portions were HUGE! We also had an order of crab Rangoon and dumplings. Two meals, two apps, and three drinks ran us $67. Considering we took more than half the food home and ate it for days I consider it a good deal! read more

The menu is quite large - dim sum, sushi, and typical Chinese food entrees. The guy taking orders was killing it. Super efficient by running both registers himself. I ordered the teriyaki chicken with fried rice. Since I knew the portions would be huge, I suppressed my desire for sushi. Definitely ordering it next time though! It took about 8 minutes until my order was ready. They mistakenly used chicken instead of shrimp in my boyfriend's order, but they immediately caught it and remade it. They were very apologetic and friendly. My food was so yummy. Huge pieces of chicken and a very healthy amount of vegetables. It's the most amount of veggies any place has given me. The only complaint I have about the dish was the salt. It was sooo salty. Even the vegetables were salted - to the point where I could see it dusted on the side of the plate. I was chugging water for the rest of the day! They could cut the salt back by 75% and still be okay. But other than that, the food was great. They have stacks of to-go containers by the pick up counter, which you will need! The price to quantity ratio is excellent! read more

I've been to Tai's a few times. It's a pretty popular spot. The order process is at a counter and then you seat yourself. I've had a few different sushi rolls, the pho, the miso soup, and perhaps a couple of other things along the way. The sushi is ok, not my absolute favorite place for sushi but they do have a lot of different options that I haven't tried. I definitely enjoyed the pho and miso soup a lot. The miso is heartier than most miso soups you'll find and filled with lots of greenery (seaweed? not sure). They definitely get busy around dinner time so I would advise going in for lunch or giving yourself a pretty generous window if you're ordering takeout. We were in Columbus for a stop over on a road trip. We love Thai and Asian fusion and this was near our hotel. First, we didn't realize this is really a take-out place. You can dine-in but it has the ambiance of a cafeteria, so we decided to get take it back to the hotel where we had some wine in the fridge. If you have never been here it is very confusing - order at one window but some of your food comes from the other side depending on what you order. And the menus are hanging up in different places but not all the menus in one place. Very strange set up. We got the papaya salad from the Japanese side and the hot food from the Thai side so our order didn't come out at the same time. The papaya salad was inedible. I don't know if it's supposed to taste like kimchi salad or something but it tasted like fermented green papaya. It was a massive salad so if you like it, there sure is plenty. We each took one bite and threw it all away. The worst food I had tasted anywhere in a very long time. I ordered red curry with veggies and stir fried rice. Asked for very mild. It came with steamed rice instead of fried and was so freaking spicy my lips were on fire. Couldn't eat it. Took it home to add gobs of coconut milk to make it edible but it just wasn't good. Husband got eggplant stir fry with steamed rice. The most edible of our 3 dishes but still just barely - eh. I can see that if you find a dish you like here you get MASSIVE portions so that's the appeal, I suppose. We could have shared ONE dish and still had left overs. So I guess that's why people like it. I have always loved Tai's Asian Bistro from the moment I first dinned here. It has been one of my Top 5 favorite Columbus restaurants for many years. I had a craving for Pad Thai and we headed out to Tai's. Take it for what it is, but for me, this was not a good experience. Service was terrible, very disorganized and real disappointed in the flavor and in the serving size. Definitely a miss for this visit. I went with the Chicken Pad Thai and immediately noticed the portion size has decreased. It was also served in a plastic to-go container instead of the dine-in plates. The other guest in my party order Shrimp Pad Thai, and received a much larger portion on an actual plate. Very inconsistent and we have had these dishes many times. We had ordered right after each other and I for some reason I had to wait forever for my buzzer to go off with folks after me getting served to the point I thought they missed my order. Oh well, I will try again with another trip but if this was my first impression I would not return. Hoping this was just an off visit as I would hate to give up on this place. read more
