    Revolving Sushi

Let me start out by saying that this place delivers for what it advertises. It's cute with a constant supply of sushi that you can pick up table side off a rotating belt. Even for some of the dishes you order, a little cart brings them to you on the rotating belt. Perhaps we ordered wrong but most of the sushi quality was not up to snuff. Not bad for the price point, especially if your goal is to gorge. I think depending on your mood, this could be a great place to go to with friends or family, and I can see myself returning, but probably not for a while :).

New place for me. I couldn't help but compare to the other revolving sushi place at Polaris. At first glance it is a nicer place. Very pretty and nice booths. The partitions are lower. The sushi dishes are much easier to remove from the conveyor. It was a bit annoying I had to turn the identifying signs around to see which sushi was coming by. The server came with menus and took drink orders. There is what looks like a full bar. I asked about wine and there is apparently only 1 red and 1 white selection. I had the white, which was Sauv Blanc. It turned out to be $10/glass. The shock factor for me is that a weekend dinner (all you can eat) is $36. Whoa, for a Sunday night. I didn't feel like I had enough food for that price. Maybe lunch is more economical. The food is good, and they have a large selection. You can order other items off the menu and the server places the order. Then it is delivered on a little trolley above the conveyor belt. We split a salmon hibachi order, edamame, and veggie tempura. I had 2 small plates of sushi from the belt. If you want salads and desserts, you can walk over to the buffet by the wall. They have those creamy cake slices, and ice cream cups.

it a great time for a first visit since I wasn't totally sure what to expect. Our server greeted us right away and did a great job explaining how everything works. Sushi rolls travel around the restaurant on a conveyor belt right next to your table -- if something looks good, you just grab it as it rolls by. Easy and kind of fun. The restaurant is all-you-can-eat for $35.95, which includes sushi, appetizers, soups, a limited salad bar, and hibachi. You can order as much as you want, but they are serious about food waste -- anything left over gets charged at $13.95 per pound, which honestly feels fair. We started with a mix of appetizers, soup, and a couple of sushi rolls, and everything was fresh and flavorful right out of the gate. After that, we ordered beef hibachi, an order of wings, and a pork belly bun, plus tried the crab salad and seaweed salad from the bar. Once again, the flavors were on point. My only real complaint of the night was the chicken wings -- they tasted like frozen, reheated wings. Not awful, but definitely the weakest item we tried. We went back for a few more sushi rolls (because... obviously), then finished with dessert. We had an orange-flavored sponge cake and a coffee-flavored sponge cake. Both were light, delicate, and surprisingly good -- a nice way to end the meal without feeling overly full. So the big question: Is it worth the price? For the quality of the food and the variety of choices, I'd say yes. My recommendation: go hungry, keep an open mind, and try a little bit of everything. You might just discover a new favorite.

YE Gurl Says: New Year, New Badge, Same Appetite Happy New Year. Happy Lunar New Year. And yes -- the newly minted Yelp Elite badge has entered the chat. One month into the year, recovering from the flu courtesy of some overly ambitious "new year, new me" gym recruits (respectfully... resolutions are not my ministry), I was finally back outside and back on the grind. First stop: Hokkaido Revolving Sushi Bar. You're greeted immediately by the mascot and bold signage -- playful, welcoming, and very much "you're here to have fun." The waiting area was packed, mostly larger groups, but this duo got seated quickly even on a weekend. Flat $35.95 all-you-can-eat for two hours? Reasonable. I also appreciate the house rules: Eat what you take. No leftovers to-go. Extra fee for waste. Honestly... fair. (College me would've tried to sneak sushi home in a napkin. Adult me knows better.) The setup is classic revolving sushi -- plates of nigiri and simple rolls cruising by on the belt, mostly fish-on-rice staples. Toward the end of our visit, more specialty rolls started appearing in 4-piece sets. You can also order directly from the menu, all included in the price. Bonus: there's a salad and dessert bar in the back. Think: * seaweed salad * crab salad * house greens with that familiar ginger dressing * cut fruit (a few fun/exotic options) * packaged ice cream and sweets Drinks aren't included, but there's a fully stocked bar if you want to make it a night. Service was smooth and attentive -- plates cleared quickly, questions answered fast, and when things got busy, a little robot server rolled through with orders, which honestly added to the charm. Now let's level-set expectations: If you've had high-end omakase or West Coast color-plate sushi spots, this isn't that. This is good, consistent, approachable sushi at a fixed price. No frills. No rare imports. Just solid options and a fun experience. And you know what? That's perfectly fine. It actually felt a little nostalgic -- like the family buffet days of the past... just upgraded with fish and a conveyor belt. YE Gurl says: Hokkaido is a laid-back, crowd-friendly spot when you want variety, value, and a fun group experience. Bring friends, come hungry, pace yourself, and treat it like dinner and a show. Sometimes simple and satisfying is exactly what the new year calls for.

Just went to Hokkaido for the first time tonight and I was really impressed! I've been to the other conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Columbus, and this one is definitely a step above. When we arrived around 7:15 PM, there was no waitlist--so service started off smoothly. Our waitress, Harper was so helpful and made the experience easy. Our first roll, the Aden Roll--shrimp tempura, avocado, and cream cheese, topped with spicy kani, tempura flakes, and eel sauce--was by far my favorite. Normally, I go for spicy tuna, but it wasn't very good here; definitely stick to the signature rolls. The steak hibachi was amazing--seriously, you need to order hibachi. We also tried a sushi donut, and the eel one was delicious. Can't wait to come back soon and try even more!

What I liked: plenty of parking outside Place is nice and clean Service is fast (though there weren't many people when I visited) Fried kaki (oyster) Most of the sashimi/sushi were fresh, though some were a bit watery from not being thawed well (squid and yellowtail) Salads from the salad bar What I didn't like too much: tonkotsu ramen (not much flavor, noodles soft with no bite) Karaage (really tough and dry) Calamari (same as above) What's on the conveyer belt is rolls and some sushi. Sushi on the belt comes in 2 pieces so if you want just 1 piece, you can place an order. You can also order other things that don't come on the belt. I wish they would let you order more than 5 pieces of sashimi at a time. I understand that might be to avoid food waste but 5 pieces of sashimi is really small and I felt funny asking the staff to place an order many times. Overall, it's a fun and clean place to go and I think the price is fair given that you can have variety of different foods. I wish I could give them 3.5 stars as I believe 4 is a bit generous but 3 is too low.

I work with multiple Japanese coworkers, so we've all been excited for this new rotating conveyor belt sushi place to open ever since it was first announced. The 5 of us dined at Hokkaido today for lunch, and these are my first impressions. The interior is large and clean with modern decor. Our server was friendly and checked in on us regularly. The lunch price of $22.95/adult for all you can eat sushi is very attractive. Dinner is pricier, but adds several types of fish and also lets you get sashimi (the fish only without the rice) so that might be worth the higher price. Although you can order food items directly off of the menu, your table is limited to 3 rolls per order. Since there were 5 of us, that was problematic. Since the sushi (nigiri and rolls) theoretically are all supposed to show up on the conveyor belt, our server encouraged us to order the hot dishes (like shrimp tempura and ramen) through her and to get the sushi from the conveyor. Makes sense, at least on the surface. Items ordered through the server will arrive on its own conveyor lane above the regular conveyor lane. I've seen this is in Japan as well, and that's a fun touch. With the exception of the salmon nigiri which I found overly fishy, we enjoyed all the other types of fish. The eel/unagi was my favorite. 3.5 out of 5 stars for the quality of the fish. The rice used for the sushi is packed pretty densely, making them more filling. And they charge you by the pound for any leftover sushi rice at the end of your meal. It's a pretty common tactic at AYCE sushi but nevertheless disappointing to see here. Coming here for dinner where it'll cost more but will allow you to order sashimi (the fish without rice) might be worthwhile. My biggest misgiving is the variety and freshness of the sushi that shows up on the conveyor. We were there for an hour, and never saw tuna or red snapper nigiri come out. There were several pieces of squid and octopus on the lane when we first arrived. We ate them all and never saw them back on the conveyor again for the rest of the hour. So I guess you have to special order them through your server if you want more, but there's a limit per order. At similar restaurants in Japan, they have tablets at your table to order fish that's not coming down the conveyor... I think Hokkaido would benefit from having tablets as well. And regarding the freshness of the sushi, there were imitation crabmeat nigiri on the conveyor when we first arrived, and no one was touching them because who wants imitation crab when you're paying for AYCE sushi? As we finished our meal an hour later, those same imitation crab were still going around. In Japan, untouched plates on the conveyor are automatically thrown out after 30-45 minutes. Here, raw fish might be on the conveyor for at least an hour or more. That's concerning and is definitely something I'd like for them to improve. Or perhaps it's less of an issue during dinner when people cycle through the food faster? Not knowing what's coming down next on the conveyor can be fun or irritating. To me, it's fun at first but gets irritating later when I start wishing I could just go to the buffet tray and pick out the exact type of sushi that I want, like at The Feast buffet just west of here on Bethel Rd. Overall, this is a fun new restaurant that still has some growing pains to work through. I'll probably try them again in a few months to see how/if they've improved.

We really liked the variety that is available. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the plates of food on the conveyor belt. We did feel the price was high for what you get and we had to search for our server to place orders and drinks were not refilled.

Better than Kura in Polaris IMO. You just get more for your money. One price vs pay per plate. PLUS you can order Ramen bowls, Poke bowls and other appetizers, like Gyoza, Crab Rangoon, and even pork belly sliders. One price and you literally eat all you can. There is a catch, however...do not waste any food or you will be charged by the pound.

Absolutely phenomenal!!! Great value and good quality. Beautiful and clean restaurant. Will be back! The sushi is great! Loved the ramen and pork bun sandwich as well. All the food is included for one price (drinks are separate). The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful experience! The actual interior is beautiful. Very clean, pretty chandeliers and a modern design. I like that it's broken into sections, it makes things feel more intimate. I liked the open food bar. It had seaweed salad, crab salad and some other small starters and dessert. It was around $22 for lunch per person. around $10 more a person for dinner, but includes items such as hibachi and sushi donuts. There was plenty of sushi rotating the belts, but the actual selection of different types of rolls was pretty small. Maybe around 10 rolls rotating, but you could order some different rolls. I loved the option to order poke and ramen. We ordered both and tried the calamari appetizer. The server was friendly and attentive. Overall, wonderful experience and I would highly recommend!!

This was a fun novelty place. I went on a Sunday for lunch thinking we would pay lunch prices, but it's dinner pricing all day Saturday and Sunday. The spicy miso ramen was not spicy, but still good. The ramen options were good and the conveyor was restocked frequently. The milk teas had so mic sugar we couldn't finish them. Overall I'm glad we went, but I don't know that this would be a frequent spot to visit.

We went during lunch hours and it was worth the price! We had to wait 20 minutes or so for a table but that was okay. You can wait for the sushi to come around on the revolving line or order directly off the menu. Super modern and clean! We'll definitely be back!

And after that soft opening with a regular menu, this week they introduced an all-you-can-eat menu as well. So of course I got there as soon as I could. Quite an extensive menu for AYCE too, though not as big as their standard one. And full of interesting stuff. Nigiri, raw rolls, cooked rolls, deep-fried rolls, specialty rolls, apps, ramen, hibachi, and more. I wanted to try everything, but even though I arrived hungry I just couldn't. Maybe 25 years ago I could have eaten twice as much, and when the students hear about this they will clean them out. It's just down from where Japanese Oriental Restaurant used to be, and I used to save up and pig out there with my friends. Now I eat a bit less, but I still figure I had about $60 worth of sushi for $30. I started with seaweed salad- big portion, and very tasty. Fresh and a little spicy. Then unagi- two big pieces, excellent, tender and flavorful. Then maguro- good, melt in your mouth. Next I tried their "dragon eggs"- deep fried avocado with kani and tuna. OMG. Again, a big portion (two whole avocados, halved and stuffed. Finally, two big rolls: the High Street roll with spicy tuna, and the Seashore roll with salmon, kani, and more. Wow. Big, and tasty. Best sushi in town? No, but up there. Really good. Service was great. They open at noon, at least on weekdays, and I was the first one in. The decor is cool- it's an old house, and they have made it modern but with vintage touches. The bathrooms and waiting area are super cool. Also a small lot in back. Get here. If you like sushi, or other Japanese food, you'll like it. If you like a bargain, you'll love it. $27, yes, not cheap; but for sushi it's not bad, and for AYCE sushi it is a steal. Atmosphere was modern and soothing. You can get ramen, cooked dishes like tempura, salads, all kinds of things. There's a full bar as well, and areas with cozy or romantic seating. The design was actually pretty cool, you could eat with a group or sit up at a bar by yourself and feel very comfortable either way. The sushi menu itself includes more traditional Japanese sushi, which honestly is what I'd recommend from the AYCE menu. They even have sashimi, which is cut thinly- which is fine, if you want more you can just order more, that prevents excessive waste. Most AYCE places wouldn't offer sashimi anyway. But the traditional sushi, sashimi and rolls were the ones we liked best. The more Americanized rolls with the alternative (non-nori) wraps were not as delicious, in our opinion. We couldn't figure out what it was, whether it was the wraps or an ingredient in the chopped sushi roll fillings. But there's a ton on this menu that was good. Will eat here again. Oh and a short note on large groups- maybe this is not the spot to go with a massive group? It's more of an intimate dining experience, although they do seem to allow big groups. I only mention this because I saw a negative review about slow service for large groups before we went and then the evening we went a group of maybe 10-12 college students impatiently waited by the door to be seated, even though the servers were polite and had to wait for multiple tables to clear at the same time to push together seat such a large group in a smallish restaurant- the patrons kept coming in and trying to sit at random tables before it was their turn. If you have a massive group I'd say split into multiple tables or maybe choose a different, larger or chain restaurant, like El Vaquero or Buffalo Wild Wings? Anyway I hope they left a good tip because the workers were very professional and the group was very large and very impatient.
