Walking in your ambush with a cloud of cigarette smoke. As you have to enter via the smoking section for both it and the bar next door. This place is tiny and dark. Beautiful wood everywhere to be seen. Definitely had a rustic vibe. Our waitress was friendly, literally taking a seat and talking to us while we ordered. I normally don't eat multiple cheese sticks in a row, however, if you dip them in breading and deep fry them I can definitely do it. In other words we ordered mozzarella sticks. They were delicious but they had definitely ruptured in the deep fryer from cooking too long. Our main courses followed briefly afterwards. Y'all, the food was so good I don't remember what my eating companion ordered. I was engrossed. I ordered the smokehouse brisket quesadilla. Their sweet barbecue sauce has the tiniest bit of kick to it, the meat was super moist and they weren't shy with the cheese. It was even good reheated the next morning... not that I have barbecue for breakfast very often. I can see myself going back to enjoy a meal. The bartender was in an excellent mood for a person opening a bar. Seriously. I use to hate opening and faking a smile at all the morning people who use to come in right as the door is unlocked. Our bartender was honest about the food, which was refreshing, and had a really great wealth of knowledge when it came to their vast variety of drinks. Several wines, dozens of beers, and a long list of bourbons at the front of their menu. That being said, the drinks are better than a majority of the food. The Pizza was a step or two above frozen and the jalapeños (fresh not pickled) had an awkward overbearing smell and flavor. The turkey bacon avocado sandwich wasn't bad but I wouldn't order it again, either. It a descent sized sandwich (with buffalo fries) for the price. Just bland. I did enjoy the buffalo fries and would definitely order those by themselves or try the sampler next time. However, if the queso that comes with the chips is what they put on their cheese fries I'll pass on that. Their 4 cheese queso taste course like an unfinished floury rue with no zest. Aside from the drinks and the fries I also liked the environment. It's literally nothing but one long-ass bar with small two-top tables across from the bar on the inside. It is dark and cozy like your favorite dive bar should be. They had different things in the TVs which was great because I'll take Cash Cab over a football game everyday of the week. There were some guys play what I think was poker in the back half. That just added to the great local dive bar feel. All in all, I would absolutely love to be a regular at this bar. Ron's is a wonderful and surprising addition to the mid-cities scene. This is the kind of bar you'd expect to find in Fort Worth or Dallas; a trendy, casual, atmospheric haven that's perfect for beer connoisseurs and finely crafted cocktail lovers. In the middle of Bedford! It's great to have a spot like this really brightening the food and drink scene of suburbia. Ron's is very small with no-smoking (hallelujah), beautiful wooden floors/tables/bar, pretty lighting, and an extensive menu with over 30 craft beers on draft. There are tons of local options, a few ciders, and some really unique picks that I'd never heard of. I'm not a beer drinker myself, but I hang out with enough beer nerds to know that Ron's has an impressive and eclectic menu. The prices are hard to beat and the customer service is seriously on point. The staff knows their craft beer, and they're definitely willing to discuss options with you and find something to suit your taste. There's a wonderful patio space outside with a fireplace and plenty of seating. Definitely more room inside than out! The patio is shared with Big Shots (same owners, actually) and you're free to smoke outside. There's also a pretty stellar food menu. It's HUGE. Everything from "bar food" like wings, fried mozzarella, and cheese fries, to more creative options like fried avocado, house-made soft pretzels, and a meat & cheese plate. Mid-cities craft brew bar! About time one shows up that isn't in the congestion of Arlington. Ron's is a bit confusing since it shares a patio with Big Shots and you have to go through the patio to get to the front door. Once you walk in circles like an idiot and open the wrong door twice, you'll be greeted by a shotgun style bar that looks like a traditional Irish Pub. There are two windows that are drawn up and can serve the Patio goers enjoying the outdoor fireplace. Atmosphere - Once inside, the pub style is obvious with warm wood (hehehe) all over the place and the only other thing these is more of than the wood is the plethora of beer cans from all over the World. Uncle Ron's collection is impressive and displayed with LED lights in a case that cuts the bar almost in half. It gives the feeling of the two different rooms and it seems the back room is missing a pool table. Ron's gives a very comfortable feeling and watching the Rangers game there, made me feel like I had been there several times before. The only real knock on the atmosphere was that there are only TVs above the bar so everyone sits facing the same direction. Drinks - If craft beer is your thing then they will have something to suit your palette. They have a good mix of local, international, hard to find, and well known favorites. Be it IPAs, Ambers, Belgiums, or Pilsners they have something for you and the menu is very descriptive which makes it about five pages. Newbies could be overwhelmed but Beer Nerds will read it like a novel. A good surprise they had for me was that they had about 30 different Scotches and another 30 mixed bourbons and whiskeys. A choice of 60 different alcohols from the same family adds a lot of variety if you're into the barrel aged spirit, and I am! Staff - They are putting a lot of effort into get their staff knowledgeable about beer but because we went so soon in their infancy, we could stump them with some probing questions and the bartender would come to our rescue. They do know their stuff and we weren't steered wrong but with some time I am sure the waitresses will be pros and will be able to talk circles around me about the hoppy water. Overall - Ron's is a welcome addition to the watering holes within the mid-cities. A comfortable location to try beers that you can't get in most locations while you watch sports or discuss ale and bourbon. If you come here expecting a Miller Light you'll be disappointed and out of place, this is a place to expand your knowledge past the common beers. If a few wrinkles are ironed out this place can definitely be a 5-star bar because they are already relatively close. read more

Ron's Corner Tavern has a great selection of craft beer on tap. IPAs, stouts, ambers, blondes, local microbrews - 31 different selections to choose from. They also have several great bottled beers from around the world - Spaten Optimator, for example. If you're a beer hall lover, you'll get a kick out of the warm wood paneling and the vintage beer can collection that lines the walls. If you're not into beer, Ron's also offers a few wines by the glass and classic cocktails such as the Sazerac - although I didn't try any of these and can't vouch for them. The menu is a bit limited (fewer than a dozen items, I think). Fried breaded avocados are fantastic, if you like avocados. Cheese, meat and crackers plate is generously sized. Strangely, the only pizza available is a "chicken alfredo". I would have rated Ron's a notch higher if they offered more snack and meal options. Fish and chips, tacos, nachos or even snack mixes / pretzels / popcorn would be great adds. Overall, Ron's is definitely worth a stop if you appreciate craft beers! read more

Went here for UFC 168. It's right next to Big Shots! It's a small place and we were lucky enough to get a few seats. There were 5 of us that sat together at a community table. We all ordered the "flights" which consisted of four of their beers on tap (1 pint each) for $9 - cheap!! We also ordered the mussells and calamari (buffalo-style). The mussells were good. The calamari was also good at first, but after eating so many bread crumbs, it was just "okay". I wouldn't order the calamari again. The pieces were cut too small. Oh, and this place is NON-SMOKING which is the #1 reason we went there :) Turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Parking lot is small and we had to park in the back by the dumpsters where it smelled like poopie time. We had a positive experience. The place was clean and well maintained. The bartenders were nice and friendly. I will certainly return sometime in the future, but I anticipate this place to be pretty crowded once the word gets out. read more

A beer lovers dream come true. I love this place because its in.....you guessed it! MY LITTLE HOMETOWN OF BEDFORD! I've been to this place a few times, including once for a Yelp event thrown by Kendall and each time i've had a great time, and great drinks. Their beer menu is pretty much endless ( I mean, I know it really ends eventually, but it's honestly kind of hard to pick something to drink...) Last night I ordered a Raspberry Ale. Eh -not my favorite! However, I've had the Strawberry Ale by the same Samuel Smith brewery in Lincolnshire and that one I loved! Ron's has a great selection of seasonals on tap especially throughout the fall....several different pumpkin beers to try out (Excuse me why I cry Pumpkin Spice tears of joy!) As well as local craft brews and many a choice of Whiskey and Scotch. From what I understand they share a kitchen and a patio with the restaurant next door, which is owned by the same person. They sort of operate together. The patio is a pretty sweet deal. The fire place, and the ambiance is low key and casual.. just perfect for a bunch of girlfriends grabbing a last minute drink (..in their yoga pants and teeshirts) before they send their best friend on her voyage home to Denver. We came for the Yelp Elite Event the other night. We had a great evening. The bar has a really great feel to it, love all the wood, it definitely has that tavern vibe. It is on the smaller side but that's what makes it soo great. Old beer bottles and cans line the walls. They had a decent selection of craft beer on draft as well as bottles and they make cocktails too. The event came with some complimentary food as well, we just thought it was going to be cheese fries, but they brought out their appetiser sampler as well - the food is good but mainly all fried. My favorite in Bedford for beer, a bite to eat and friendly wait staff. I'm usually by myself and Paul and Nancy always make me feel at home. I've made it in a couple of times, and been really pleased. It's not a large place, but cozy inside and has a nice large patio out front with heaters and a fireplace when it's cool and misters when it's hot. There seems to be a lot of regulars here greeted as such by the staff, but we got attentive efficient service and found the staff friendly even as "newbies". They have an excellent selection of craft beers, from Texas and beyond, and allow a 4 selection flight of anything that is typically a 16 ounce pour. They do not allow you to select any of the beers for a flight that are 12 ounce pours, typically those that are higher alcohol content and a little more expensive. I cannot say that makes a lot of sense to me - why not allow me the small tasters of the heavier and more expensive beers? I don't want to have to order 12 ounces to try one of those. I would suggest having two prices for flights, and charge a bit more for any flight including one of those, or charge per 4 oz pour with a higher price for the heavier beers. I understand the cost difference and would willingly pay it; I don't understand limiting the choices. The menu is fairly typical bar/pub fare but I've had a good Greek salad and some fish tacos that were respectable. I'm definitely gonna work on making Ron's a steady haunt. read more

I FINALLY had the chance to stop in and try this place and I'm a fan (not of the Seahawks). I went in the early afternoon to have lunch and a beer and was pleased. The cheeseburger was nothing fancy on a good bun to hold everything together and not fall apart. I got it along with their homemade chips which were also simple and perfect to go with my burger and beer. The bartender Ariel was also real nice. It's a good "go to" spot for a beer or glass of wine. They have a huge selections of beer and a very detailed menu to help you out with your decision making process. I'm not crazy about the food. We visited this Tavern on Saturday evening and luckily got there around 7:30. It was pretty empty when we got there but filled up quickly and since it's very small, all the tables filled up. This is a pretty cool little bar with a fun vibe and laid back, non-pretentious atmosphere. They have a full bar and lots of beer on tap. Most pints cost $5.50. Decent sized outdoor patio complete with a fireplace. Seating inside is somewhat limited as it's a fairly narrow place. They have a large table towards the back for larger groups and they have TV's up high to catch the game. I like the décor, the waitress was good, and I enjoy the overall vibe -- and that is why I rate it as 4 stars......... ....... BUT...... eat before you go because the food sucks. They have a decent selection of items, but it's definitely your stereo-typical sub-par greasy bar food. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the chicken breast was crazy thin and pretty tasteless. The fries were just ok. My fiancée ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, but it was so overcooked and dry that he was only able to eat about half of it. It was like eating leather. For a man of his size and appetite to not be able to finish his food, says a lot. This place is in Bedford? We went there on a YELP whim for lunch and end up having a great experience. Maria was behind the bar and super knowledgeable [nerdy] about all the local craft beers on tap. We had a couple of flights with brews ranging from a creamy wheat stout to a very nice hoppy blonde, and a blood orange and honey brew crafted in Granbury, all of which were brewed here in Texas. The food was also nice. We had a wedge salad and a french dip with hand cut fries, which were excellent. Tell'em that you want them cooked nice and crispy. Maria explained that while the restaurant next door and the Pub we're owned by the same people, the only thing that they share is the kitchen. I would venture to say that if you ask any of the servers in the restaurant about beer, they would not have a clue about anything other than your standard Budweiser or Miller Lite, but that's ok. I've invited my parents up and we will be going tomorrow for lunch and having a nice variety of the brews that they have on tap. We were expecting to find it here since it is advertised as available on their website (admittedly I saw it there several weeks ago) But. They did ID us upon sitting at the bar as is legally required in the state of Texas, and they also did provide us with a few beer samples to find just the thing we were looking for in lieu of Delirium. After hearing about Ron's, I made a point to visit because there are zero places like this in the area. Nice and dark inside with a thriving outside patio that speaks to many people. Beer choices go from worldly to local with a few in between. Staff is nice and inviting but only a few KNOW beer. As a beer geek, I love to chat about local and favorite brews. One pet peeve is they don't serve the drinks in the correct glass! Many don't realize. Now, most of the time it actually works in the customers favor by giving more than they should. Despite the bar usually being filled, a few changes and this place could be a huge hit among beer fans in the area. Not sure the owner knows what he really has. Decent selection and great location. Needing to get a few of the more rare beers in the area would really help as well. I enjoy the Ron's and visit often. read more

I picked Ron's for pretty superficial reasons. We needed to have a centrally located place for a meeting of people from all over the D/FW area. They have wi-fi, air conditioning (really not a luxury in Texas in the simmer), 31 beers on tap, a community table, air conditioning, food, smoke-free, and did I mention air conditioning? It more than met our needs. We ordered a number of rounds of appetizers, and all of them were very good. Jesse was on duty and kept an eye on us, making sure our glasses didn't empty without offering to refill them. Good food and good service are definitely pluses. When we were there, it was a quiet, friendly neighborhood bar, and say what you will, there aren't enough places like that! The beer can collection on the wall is very impressive - next time I'll give it some of the attention it deserves. And while 31 taps isn't in the heavy hitter category, the beers were well chosen, with many locals and many classics. As another place says, "If you see ads for it on TV, chances are you won't see it here." Despite being a beer geek, there were a number of beers I'd never heard of, and a number more I'd never seen on tap. The Bodington's Pub Ale just blew me away. It's a delicate beer, and if a bar doesn't take care of their taps, they can ruin the beer. It was great. They seem to take care of their taps! More pluses! Finally there is some great craft beer in HEB! The owner of this bar has about 30 taps, and about 10 of those are rotators, so there's always something new try when you stop in. There's also a partially covered patio with giant Jenga blocks and TVs. Very comfortable atmosphere if you just want to relax, hang with friends, or catch a game. read more

WISH I lived closer but will volunteer to drive relatives to the airport if it means I can swing by this awesome bar! What sets this hidden gem apart? They have a zillion beers all reasonably priced with 4 6oz samples in a flight for just $10 you don't have to narrow your choices! These folks have all your bases covered, from amber and pale ales to the newest IPA, and plenty of stouts! Tell the bartender what you like and they will set you up with a new brew to fall in love with or a sample of new loves! They KNOW what is good for YOU! I dig this bar! One of my favorite aspects in their patio. A sexy lil set up out front with enough tvs to watch the latest sporting event with your buds or better yet, when temps drop, kick it fireside with your better half. Smoking allowed as it is an outdoor patio. Cooler temps? Go Outside? I can sew the the question marks popping up over your head. YESSS! They have these FANTASTIC heating devices in the ceiling of the patio. It was like 35 degrees and I was able to leave my coat on the back of my chair and remained completely comfy! Do not doubt me just cuz Ron's is located in a nondescript strip shopping complex, this is a great bar, great service with plenty of choices. Talked to a few regulars while there and damn I envy those living nearby! If you fins yourself in HEB area, be sure to stop by for a cold one -or four! You will NOT be disappointed! read more

Yes! A corner tavern it is...there's a couple servers that are better than others but overall the beer prices are great! It has a dive bar feel but a fairly diverse crowd. The food is made next door but it's still fresh and delicious! I suggest for a crowd to get the appetizer sampler platter, it is Texas sized with plenty of options for a low price! It definitely allows your taste buds some serious options! The beers on tap are pretty good, not all the usual domestics either. They have a nice variety of bottled beers as well. And again, the prices for the premium beers are a lot lower than the usual chain bars! They also have board games to play for those who want to sit for awhile and hang out. read more

I love this place. Tappings every week, good food, friendly staff. It's almost always busy and it's easy to see why! The bar is fantastic although it really is tiny. The bar itself runs along almost the entire of one side of the place with the wall covered floor to ceiling in shelves stacked full of liquor, old bottles and little things that just add character to this really intimate venue. I could spend hours staring at that wall. The other side is lined with booths, wall art, old tin cans and bottles. I'm not kidding when I say it's intimate. The whole place is probably no more than 20 feet from one side to the other. It's longer than it is wide but you really will miss it if you don't know it's there. There's outside seating with an open fireplace. Overhead gas heaters and freestanding gas lamps are there also. It's hindered right now by the construction, but trust me it's worth battling through it. read more

The closest bar to me that has any local brewed craft beer. Here in North Texas craft beer is on the rise! From Deep Ellum brewery to Revolver and Community, the DFW Metroplex is putting out amazing craft brews! Ron's Corner Tavern is probably where I'll be from now on on Friday nights. With them being partly owned with Big Shots, they have the access to Big Shots kitchen. So if you do get hungry after a few beers you can get some pretty good food from Big Shots. You don't have to worry about your food because they have food runners that go from Big Shots to Ron's Corner Tavern. All in all, this is probably the best bar in a HEB that sells craft beer. They've got a nice friendly wait staff, they know what they're selling, and I really enjoy being at this bar on a Friday night with my friends. What more could you ask for, I mean craft beer, good food, good company, and a nice patio with a fire pit. read more

Ron's Corner Tavern is probably the only bar that has craft beer on tap in Bedford. The walls are pretty entertaining to look at, since there are actually cases of foreign and vintage cans of beer. You can absolutely tell that the owner is passionate about his beer. They have a very nice selection of beers on tap and the patio is very nice and it has an outdoor fireplace. The prices are very reasonable and the crowd pretty mixed, that is what I liked about the bar the most, that everyone was very casual and you see people in their twenties as much as people in their 40's.
