Ron's Corner Tavern is probably the only bar that has craft beer on tap in Bedford. The walls are pretty entertaining to look at, since there are actually cases of foreign and vintage cans of beer. You can absolutely tell that the owner is passionate about his beer. They have a very nice selection of beers on tap and the patio is very nice and it has an outdoor fireplace. The prices are very reasonable and the crowd pretty mixed, that is what I liked about the bar the most, that everyone was very casual and you see people in their twenties as much as people in their 40's. Nobody is dress to impress and you can just relax and drink. If you want to just enjoy a good beer with no fuzz, visit Ron's. read more

Yes! A corner tavern it is...there's a couple servers that are better than others but overall the beer prices are great! It has a dive bar feel but a fairly diverse crowd. The food is made next door but it's still fresh and delicious! I suggest for a crowd to get the appetizer sampler platter, it is Texas sized with plenty of options for a low price! It definitely allows your taste buds some serious options! The beers on tap are pretty good, not all the usual domestics either. They have a nice variety of bottled beers as well. And again, the prices for the premium beers are a lot lower than the usual chain bars! They also have board games to play for those who want to sit for awhile and hang out. read more

We've been here several times and the experience is always very good. The staff is quite knowledgable and friendly, and the beer selection is good without being so huge it's unmanagable. The HEB/Mid-Cities Area has been in desperate need of a place like Ron's Corner Tavern for quite some time. Long have I yearned for a non-smoking, quiet-ish, non-chain-type place to enjoy a beverage or four and a chat with friends. Ron's fit the bill perfectly! Immediately on entering, the bartender greeted and welcomed us. Was out with my man and two other friends, including a preggy lady, so the no-smoking thing was a HUGE selling point. And yet, the lack of nicotine cloud didn't detract at all from the cool, retro vibe of the place. The wood paneling and vintage beer cans mixed nicely with the digital juke box and on-trend menu options. The patrons seemed to come from all walks of life--young professionals, bikers, middle-aged--and no one seemed out of place. The munchies we ordered (fried avocados and chips & salsa) were tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced. There was also a great fireplace on the patio, which will need further examination later, like when it's not 40 degrees outside. I should add the disclaimer that I'm not a beer connoisseur by any means (I've tried, but it's just not my bag) so I can't speak to the quality of brews, but the beer menu seemed fairly extensive and my companions enjoyed their choices, and the waitress was knowledgeable about the new offerings. My only real gripe is that I was a bit underwhelmed with my vodka-and-Diet, and Preggy Friend likewise underwhelmed with her Shirley Temple. (This is Texas--you've gotta warn a girl if you're serving Pepsi products! Pretty sure that's a state law or something...) But, on the whole, Ron's Corner Tavern was a hit with everyone in the group. We have been here other one other time and decided to check this place out after getting a Groupon again. There's a lot of pros to this place, it's a little hole in the wall bar and the atmosphere is great. Our first time there we got to talk to the owner and he gave us good drink suggestions and we had a wonderful time. This time was a little different though, we ordered an appetizer it took around 25 minutes to get it. So as soon as we brought it we decided to order food, which came a little quicker. What really irritated me though is our waitress had a big party she was taking care of and was impossible to get a hold of. We asked her for our check and started to pull out our Groupon, she was immediately pulled away from us by other server and she just walked off! No, hey I'll be right back nothing. Another 15 minutes pass, and she brings us our check places it on the table and then runs back to her party, we are still trying to talk to her and get Togo boxes, but clearly she was to busy with her big party to give us the time of day..lucky for us another server saw what was happening after her customers pointed it out and she took care of us. It just wasn't a great second experience. The food however was decently good until I woke up in the middle of the night sick with food poisoning. So I don't think we will be going back after all that. I hate to post a negative review and I almost never do, but that was our experience. read more

BEST PLACE AND PRETTY MUCH ONLY PLACE FOR CRAFT BEER IN HEB. 1st off, Jesse is easily in the top 3 best bartenders I've ever had. We walked in, and immediately he was fun and engaging. He right away asked us what kind of beers we liked (both of us wheat beer fans) and he found beers a pinch outside our comfort zone and expanded our taste of what we enjoyed. Their selection is awesome, and there's something for every beer drinker. Everything from lights Kolshes to imperial stouts, this bar has you covered. The great thing about this bar, is as much as it respects international beers, it goes out of its way to support the amazing selection of craft beer from the 100's upon 1000's of breweries in the US. That is something unique that I definitely appreciated (and I'm a heavy German beer drinker so that says something). They have a decent selection of liquors, I'm not a fan of liquors, so I can't comment too much on this. The atmosphere is comfortable, and you never feel weird and out of place. It's like a west coast bar dropped into HEB, which is a godsend. The food is great. Because of restrictions with the building's owner, they had to have to the kitchen in a separate suite, but regardless of that, it is still good. All in all, this will become my go-to place for beer when I have the urge to have a drink. Don't expect terrible mainstream domestics here, because they won't have it. And rightfully so. In a world of beer, the last thing a person should do is limit themselves to a horribly slim selection of beer, when there's an endless amount of options to choose from, and this bar is a great way to expand your horizons. read more

This is my place to go. I love this bar. From my experience, this place has the best beer selection in the mid cities area. They are constantly rotating out beers and have pint nights all the time. (Pint night is where you buy a specific beer and get to keep a cool glass). The staff is awesome. All of them know my name and are all outgoing and fun. I don't actually even order anymore, I just tell the bartender that I want a hoppy beer or a saison or something. This place is super cool. Shotgun style bar with a great selection of tap beer and great liquors. The staff seemed very friendly and the atmosphere is a welcome change from most of the other bars around. There is a fireplace out on the patio and they do have a bar menu for food. It's a delightfuly quaint and cozy atmosphere that's small but impactful and inviting. They offer delectable, frequently rotating craft beers from local and national breweries that are tough to find anywhere else. They also have food options that are served from the bar next door. It's decent, but not what makes Ron's great. The beer, the environment and the staff! A close-knit, well oiled machine in this team of people who respect and care about their jobs. They are awesome and friendly and very accommodating. I'm now a regular and I am always greeted with a smile and a "Hello, Sarah!" when I walk in the door. Now that I am entering my post-college years I am looking for bars that serve more than the usual bud, miller, coors etc. I would never dream that a bar with this many craft beer selections could be found in my old stomping grounds. The draft selection is great - with a wide variety of local breweries represented. The staff is upbeat and very helpful. The selection is so large that at one point I asked the waitress to just surprise me with a beer and her selection did not disappoint. The inside is very long and narrow. On a crowded night it could become a bit of a hassle to walk around in but luckily they have a great, spacious patio with a beautiful fire place and flat screen directly mounted above it. Pushy, unfriendly waitress. Acted like she wanted to take orders right away and turn our table before we had even had a chance to review the menu. Only 3 other tables had people at that time. Cousins from Kansas hoping to try a few new Texas Craft Beers with but waitress didn't offer more than the same suggestions to each person. All ended up with stuff they didn't like at all. Not impressed. Sunday afternoon, 4 people at the bar and 4 of us on the patio. Got our drinks and asked to order food, bartender had to go get something to write on and then forgot to come back. One of our people went in to order for us, about an hour later food finally came. And it was not busy! Ordered a mojito off the menu, didn't have the stuff to make it. Ordered a different mojito and only had enough to make one. Took forever to get checks and then nobody's was right. I would hate to think how bad this place is when it's crowded. read more

They have a racist bartender who turned my friend away. We were one white Male, one white female, and one black female, all over 30. He asked the three of us for our ID's and told my black female friend that she had to leave because her ID was expired. I glanced at my own which had also expired, yet I was given the green light. TABC doesn't prohibit expired ID's and states that there is no officially accepted form of identification. It was at the bartender's discretion to serve her and he made the decision to turn her away. When asked where we'd go on Friday night, it was my idea to head to Ron's. After this humiliating experience, I'll never be back. read more

I'm a firm believer that it's fair to grade a place on a curve if it's located in an area where greatness in its field is a pleasant surprise. But Ron's doesn't even need a curve. If there's a better place in HEB for a beer, please tell me. Solid pub food, dead serious craft drafts & bottles paired with an incredibly knowledgable staff...and they are open until 0200 nightly! We came on a recent weeknight as a large loud work group & closed the place... Andrea was gracious, attentive, patient, like the angel of mercy (but way cooler, and with beer). A friend and I went here for a happy hour drink. Neither of us had ever been before. It was early evening so we needed some food too. We wound up with The Big Shot appetizer platter which has a bit of everything and a lot of some things. It is huge. There was no thought of supper after it. The place is fairly small, shotgun style, long and narrow, with a couple of TVs but definitely not a sports bar. There are about four pages of beers on the drink menu. Pretty much nirvana for me. I had a very good IPA. They also have a full bar and some select Scotch's. We were probably not their target audience but it was a pleasant environment conducive to conversation. It seemed to me that a bunch of Hipsters showed up a little later. Not that there is anything wrong with that. It is a nice place with good service and food and a great selection of beers. The food is great and the style is all I need. I just watched a great UFC fight with an awesome micro. Also a reasonable selection of food, which they appear to get from next door (though the nachos were kind of disappointing). They also offer 4 tasters for $10 which is a great deal.
