Some of the best chicken tenders I have ever had.

We went there for the huge selection of Belgium beers and got way more than that. Everyone was so friendly! We were told it's a young persons bar, that was not correct. Great mix of people. Very fun vibe. Sent a video of the place to a bar owner in my home town to give home some ideas. They have amazing espresso martinis too!

If you want a cool ambiance, The Old Monk is the place to go. While I did not see actual monks after a few drinks it was possible. Service was quite slow. But the decor makes the wait fine. I ordered their fish and chips. The fish was delicious crispy and huge portions. The French fries were very average. If they could only make them crispy like the fish.

Great outside patio to sit on during nice days. The service is good, nothing exceptional but not bad either. Food wise I've had a lot of different things here, but today got the fish and chips. These are some of the best fish and chips I've had in Dallas. Nice large flaky pieces of fish cooked perfectly. And the tartar sauce to dip them in is really good too. I normally don't eat many fries but with these couldn't stop.

Sat outside on a beautiful fall day! The server was. Sweetheart and very attentive! We split the fried mushrooms and the German board with some sausage, cheeses, and fresh pretzel-like breads - it was all fantastic! Just a great spot to go for especially on a pleasant Saturday!

Wow where do I start? Jane...J and Jay are our triple threat! The team here is amazing. The vibes, the food and the PRICING unheard of. We love the staff, the fish and chips and the cheap pricing on high end liquors. Our new go-to spot!

It was in fact the best fish and chips I've had so far in Dallas! I was very impressed with the portion size for the two piece order. The filets were thick with the perfect amount of fried batter. The chips were a bit plain, could use more salt but definitely an authentic style. And the tartar sauce paired well with both items. I also tried the Texas Ice Pick which was not too strong but tasted great. Came here right around opening on a Wednesday afternoon during happy hour. Our waitress was kind and easygoing with splitting the bill which I appreciated. Will be back to try other menu items!

One of my favorite places in Dallas is The Old Monk. This is a very chill place and I especially recommend coming here in the fall/winter but it's so perfect year round. It's an Irish pub but the food is much more than pub fare. I usually come for dinner but this time I tried their brunch. It was very delicious! I did the chicken and biscuits and gravy and my kind was blown. The sausage gravy was so good, I was dipping every bite in it. Finally, the service was great. Drinks were brought over quickly and food came out timely. We were in a big group and the bus boys were great on making sure empty plates and glasses were cleared.

One of my favorite places to visit is this restaurant. I went with friends for brunch, and our server was fantastic. I ordered the fish and chips, which truly live up to the claim of being the best in town. They are very filling and delicious, and their homemade tartar sauce is on point. We sat on the patio, which is a great spot to enjoy people-watching and the nice breeze when the weather is pleasant. I also tried the sangria, which was refreshing and really good. However, I ordered the paloma and had to send it back because it was way too sweet and off-balance. Overall, it's a great place to have a beer and relax.

Been here several times and it is always stellar...from the service to the food, the cocktails to the beers...you won't go wrong. Set outside today with my date's pit bull. Everyone was so good with him, it was great. Our server, Bella, was in training and so sweet. The trainer (name is escaping me!) was so friendly and super on top of it - the kind of person you want to be trained by. I usually go for their fish & chips (TDF!), however went for the 3-cheese cheeseboard (Brie, Stilton & Welsh Rarebit) served with baguette, crackers, green apple, olives, almonds, yellow raisins, gherkins & fig jam). It was fantastic on a hot day. Also, had a Bloody Mary. My date had the Monk Burger, no bun, and a coke - he cleaned his plate. Also - the ladies room was super clean (always a plus!). I highly recommend this local gem - solo, as a couple or in a group!

Best brunch in Dallas! The food is great, service is always great and extremely fast. The portions are always very filling and reasonable priced. Traditional breakfast for brunch is the best way to cure a hangover and feel up for the day. The back patio is the perfect place to start your brunch morning

been over a decade, probably two since we've been here. Just as we remembered. Food was good.l service was friendly, though I was slightly taken aback by our server, sitting down at our table. But that's OK. All in all will definitely return soon.

The Old Monk is a great spot for good pub classics. The location has plenty of parking nearby, though the area is rather busy at its peak. It has a pub aesthetic with wood furniture. The inside is small but has plenty of outdoor seating to accommodate larger parties. The servers are very friendly and attentive. They constantly check up on you to ensure all is going well. They have a nice drink selection and their fish and chips is arguably one of the best in Dallas. The fish and chips are always fresh with the two piece normally being more than enough for me. If really hungry, go for the three piece! If looking for an appetizer they have plenty of options. The fried mushrooms are amazing, with an accompanying cilantro sauce that compliments them nicely. The sauce was so good, I even asked for some alongside my fish and chips. Overall great spot and I'll most certainly be coming back!

Boo and cheers from the Old Monk in Knox Henderson. The Old Monk has been one of the best pubs in Dallas for more than 25 years. @oldmonkdallas I have not been in any bar this festive in a long time. Kudos to the staff who created a Halloween extravaganza. Pro tip: Even though The Old Monk is a pub with a large selection of beer, the bartenders are great and make solid classic cocktails. The pub food is also delicious and there is always a fun and lively scene. My go to at a pub is a Guinness and Jameson (see photo), but I've had a delicious Vesper Martini, Manhattan and Old Fashioned many times here. @guinness @greatguinnesss @jamesonwhiskey If you are looking for some festive Halloween action head to The Old Monk next year. They never disappoint. Salute

Ask the Community - The Old Monk

    Do they take reservations?

I don't think so, but there's plenty of seating- I've never had to wait.

On a Friday what would be the best time to get a seat in the late evening?

We are often at capacity between 9:30 and 10:00 on a Friday night, so we would recommend getting there before then. Thanks!

    Do they have non-alcoholic beer?

Depending on availability, the Monk usually carries 1 or 2 selections; Erdinger or O'Douls are the current options.

    Are dogs allowed on patio?

    Service dogs only

Would you need reservations on a Friday night?

No, you do not need a reservation.

We came in near closing time, but Emilia provided us great service and stayed attentive even though they were clearly packed. We were seated at a table near the door, and unfortunately it had a vomit smell. Whatever it was, my friend could not stand it and had to get up and step away from the table. We first thought the culprit was the paper drink coasters, but then the staff removed the door mat near us later on, so maybe someone puked on it and the smell lingered, even after it was cleaned up. Clear Mizu ($16): This has Sakura vermouth and bitters, so we ordered it. It tasted like straight up gin and was not good. It was actually one of the rare times my husband could not finish his drink. Kyoto Sunset ($15): This one wasn't bad and tasted like honeydew. The ingredients include honeydew Calpico, so that makes sense. Johnny Walker Black ($16): This was our friend's drink, which I think was just coke and Johnny Walker. Nothing special about the taste either. Given the smell and so-so/terrible cocktails, we will not be coming back or taking our friends here.

The service felt distant and rushed. Our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu, gave us conflicting information about drink availability, and rarely checked on us. We specifically asked not to be rushed, yet our entrées arrived while we were only a quarter of the way through our appetizer. At one point, our food was delivered while we were outside getting fresh air. The food was also disappointing. The scallops and chicken were extremely salty and lacked flavor, and the chicken was overcooked. When we brought it up, the server did little to address it. To top it off, we saw two large cockroaches around our table, which was especially noticeable in the dark dining room. The cocktails were the highlight, but overall, the service, food, pacing, and cleanliness did not meet expectations. One star. Very disappointing, and I'm not sure I'll be back.

The staff was very welcoming, and the other guests I encountered were friendly and sociable. The drinks were excellent. On my first visit, I had the Hugo Spritz, which was mixed to perfection. During my second visit, I tried the Bitter Lemon Soda, which was also very good--simple, refreshing, and without any overpowering flavors. I actually enjoyed The Bowen House so much that I went twice during my weekend trip to Dallas. It has an almost speakeasy-like atmosphere, with low lighting and a cozy, historic feel. It's also in a very walkable area, which made it easy to visit on foot. There is some parking available, although I would say it's somewhat limited. I don't think it would be the best spot for a very large group, but it would be perfect for a few friends getting together. I also appreciated that you can order a drink while waiting for a table or bar seating, which made the wait feel much more enjoyable. Overall, The Bowen House was one of my favorite places I visited while in Dallas. Between the atmosphere, welcoming service, and well-crafted drinks, it's definitely a place I would return to the next time I'm in town.

The hotel property is like four legs under the table - a great location, a great hotel experience, a great restaurant experience, and a entertainment experience (The Mansion Bar). At least one leg has been kicked out, one is suffering. The Mansion Bar used to have a great recipe for success - proven by how busy and regular the customers were and loyal (or was), and the top tier talent that was routine for 10+ years. Me and my friends have a relationship with the long time staff as customers as well as the excellent music talent. The cause? Not precisely sure but I think it's new ownership, at the very least a new Food & Bev manager. I also know the staff is very upset about these changes and the relationships with the repeat music talent is now a mess. I wouldn't be surprise if the staff start leaving. I'm hoping whomever is making these decisions can revert back to what was working. Dallas has a lot of great venues that will fill this void.

(I rarely post Yelp reviews so that's how bad it was) I ordered the steak frites medium-well (thinking it would probably come out well-done, as most non-steakhouses tend to do). After a long wait for our food (the restaurant didn't look that busy, but maybe a lot of to-go orders?) I received the pictured steak: I'm pretty sure I can still hear it mooing. How anyone could look at this and think this is medium-well is beyond me. I tried taking a bite, but it was so raw it was inedible to eat - I would've been chewing for ages. I brought this up to my waiter, who said he would take it back and speak to the kitchen. My group needed to leave for another event (didn't anticipate waiting nearly an hour for our food) so we simultaneously asked for our checks. The kicker? My waiter did not follow up with me on how raw the steak was and did not comp my meal/provide any kind of remedy. I wasn't looking for a free meal, but the lack of follow-through to remedy the situation was the icing on the cake (or insert some kind of raw steak pun). My cocktail (which all arrived AFTER our meals were delivered) was pretty good, thus the 2 stars. But I question why/how my steak was so raw despite me waiting 45-55 minutes for it. Overall, only come here for drinks - so long as you're okay with waiting forever & a day for them.
