My team consisted of Alex, the owner, who honored their 5 % discount if booked 3 weeks before moving, and my movers, Eugene and Serge. Eugene contacted me the day before to confirm & ask some questions about my contents, and he kept me informed all along as to their arrival time. All went well but it took longer than expected with only 2 men. They were careful and followed my instructions re: delicate or previously damaged furniture. I asked if they would tell me when the heavy furniture was coming inside because I wanted to put padding on the legs to protect the wooden floors. This slowed them up but it helped me because I might have forgotten about doing that later. Also, I asked them to carry many boxes to the basement, and that I appreciated so much. I was very concerned about one piece, an antique rocker that had 2 breaks in one leg. Much to my surprise, Eugene placed a reinforced bandage on the leg and I am still using it until I take it to get repaired. While packing the month before, I had forgotten where I had hid some valuable jewelry. Well, low and behold, when my bedroom was already emptied, I saw my 2 stashes of gold and silver on the window sill. When I went to Eugene, I commented that I would never have known if they had kept it, and thanked him profusely. His response, "My parents taught me right, I guess." As far as Albo's rates and overall value go....You can't put a price on this kind of integrity and work ethic. The fact that I used them twice in 2 years speaks for itself. Packing for a move is one of the worst stresses in life. Instead I get a text message the morning of the move " This is all my sons the dispatch dept, I had 2 crews call out sick and we will not be able to make it today..." No phone call from a customer service rep, no apologies - a text message?!! Again hard to get a hold of them but I finally spoke to the dispatcher who couldn't have been more rude, no apologies and basically told me my deposit did not secure anything. When we discussed the possibility of doing the move the next day his comment was he needed me to commit to be put on the schedule as if I changed the move date. I was quoted around 3.5 hours for the entire move and it ended up taking that just to load. Mind you I wrapped everything myself in preparation with the exception of one dresser and 3 couch cushions. I took down every tv and organized everything for a seamless move. However, due to their delay, my storage unit closed before they finished, and they tried to charge me extra to hold my items overnight until I pushed back. They returned the next day and took another 4 hours just to unload which is ridiculous for what was essentially 20 boxes, 5 dressers, 4 TVs, a desk, 2 couches, a coffee table, and 2 bed frames (no mattresses). That's not even a full household move. For context: my husband and brother-in-law moved the rest of our stuff into a 10x15 unit (same floor, same building) in 2 hours using pickup trucks! Compass had three movers and a 25 ft truck, and still claimed the truck was "filled to the ceiling," which is laughable considering my 10x20 storage unit had plenty of room left. To top it all off, they complained about "waiting an hour for payment" the next day while I was at work and couldn't answer my phone. Instead of waiting or being professional, they were texting my sister, who was also working. The owner then accused me of withholding payment when I simply wasn't available at that moment. In the end, I paid $1,326 for a partial move that should've cost half that and taken half the time. This company is dishonest, inefficient, and unprofessional. They overcharge, underdeliver, and then try to guilt-trip you when you stand up for yourself. Avoid Compass Moving at all costs. You've been warned.

The move itself was reasonably fast but the helpers didn't seem to have much experience. Cut to a couple hours after they leave, I finally get a chance to eat something and breathe and realize...the walls of the stairway are all scraped up. This didn't happen when furniture got moved in. Then later, Devin texts and tells me he has some of the missing parts for my furniture and will mail them to my new address...the next day, after unpacking a bit, I let him know I also can't find a bunch of screws critical to reattaching my dresser mirror. He says they were taped to the back. Ok. But they must have been covered by a ton of plastic wrap, which is already long gone in the dumpster. Then I notice a bunch of missing paint from my dressers--unclear if that's why the walls were so marked up in the last apt. No matter what is said get exact price written down, what is exactly is included, watch how they wrap everything and fragile items you should take yourself and be wary if they say boxes are included! I originally thought it went well till I started to unpack. Now first off I had an estimate including them to unpack but they misjudged the amount of work that was required. So it ended costing me triple the price and they didn't have the time to unpack. They also only marked half the boxes with what was in them making it very frustrating for me to know what was worth to unpack immediately. Upon moving the boxes that they piled up triple high and very heavy caused the move to be extremely difficult since we are in our 70's. Upon opening the boxes the items were wrapped and re-wrapped with so much clear plastic that we spent hours cutting through to get to the items. They did this to many things that were non breakable pieces like boxes of cereal but a vase from Greece was wrapped in paper and was broken in pieces. A cup from Russia also broken was thrown in with the vase and a piece of paper place between them no wrap on the cup. My small 2 drawer file desk was emptied in a box mixing paper clips, rubber bands, pens, markers, and everything else that was in jars. All our items with cords instead of keeping them together they were all thrown in different boxes and still have not found them. We have a very heavy sewing table with machine needed taken up to the walk up attic(our second floor) it is still sitting in the garage and now we have to hire someone else to take care of it otherwise we can not park in the garage. DO NOT HIRE THEM! THEY Will PROMISE TO DO THINGS; BUT BEWARE!! ALSO I WAS CHARGED FOR EXTRA MATERIAL; THEY USED SO MUCH MORE THAN NEEDED!!
