I have 3 lay-overs so with the warnings of an historic El Nino, quite literally, tons of snow, I thought it was time to pull the trigger. I called Whitaker and 2 others to get bids. Whitaker and one of the others sat with me for like an hour answering all my questions, and I'm a bit like a 3 year old, "why?" "why? "how?"....They were both patient and I would have been happy with either. Their estimates were a gnat's hair apart, both within spitting distance of the estimate I got 4 years ago. In this world of absurd pricing and gouging, these guys remained ridiculously low and fair. I opted for Whitaker based on a good feeling. What a great move!! ON time, multiple confirmations, and honored their estimate. The roof is gorgeous. Hazel would've been proud of the clean-up, and the crew was incredibly friendly and conscientious - they even worked, against my pleading - in the rain!! Here's a kicker. The day they started the job, the office manager knocked on my door and did a 'house call' to thank me and express their gratitude for choosing them. Now seriously, when is the last time you've even HEARD of a company doing that, let alone experienced it yourself??? I simply couldn't be happier. Genuinely. Got to talking about plans for the door hole patch on the east side and the need to paint and fix more things - Kris mentioned he had crews able to do all the work needed. The price he quoted was as good as the roof & gutters cost. Again the crews did beautiful work putting up the hardy board siding to cover the patch - painting and installing beautiful aluminum soffit and fascia. I can't pick my jaw up of the ground. They replaced my gutters, flashing and sheeting along with moisture barrier underlay.. lots of work.. all done in just a couple of days! They had a lot of clean up! They striped 2 layers of old shingles off and replaced my entire gutter system. The new was a big improvement over the original! Here it is!…read more I wanted to inform people about S&S roofing, as I spent over 6K on overlay to my existing roof a little over 9 years ago. I decided to go with S&S roofing. We discussed putting a 2nd layer over top as they stated it will be just as good, and a few thousand dollars cheaper. I originally thought they did a great job, and they had a site manager inspect the roof when it was finished. He came down and informed me everything was good. Now I am a 100% disable veteran who has had back surgery from supporting the war in Iraq, so I cannot climb up on a roof anymore. Due to the harsh winter we are in I called up to S&S roofing two weeks ago to see if I could get someone to check my roof out as I was hearing noises I have not heard before. She spoke to me in all reality very snotty way. She said, "Well that was over 9 years ago and the warranty of the shingles are through the company who makes them, not us. If you wish for us to come, check your roof there will be a charge of $350." I said really, no thanks there is a couple of companies I will call who will check my roof for free, and hung up. I went on the BBB website and selected a couple of companies listed and gave them a call. They both came out and checked the roof and both stated the same thing: The shingles are fine, BUT there are issues. When they installed the shingles they did not run the shingles all the way to the house. They did not put any flange Flashing or caulking to protect the water from seeping under the shingles. There is a very evident gap between the house and where the shingles stop throughout the existing roof. They informed me the only thing that is saving me is the existing roof that is there, because the water is going under the shingles and running down on to the original roof shingles. I will have one of these companies do my work. I put my trust into this company and I thought would last me 30 years. Don't believe what they say, and get it in writing. I will warn my fellow Veterans to stay clear of this company

I've had a leak in my roof and I've really needed to get it fixed. I saw an ad from this company…read moreand they said that they could see if they could get your insurance to get your roof paid for through an insurance claim. I gave them a call. First off, the technician that came out was in a hurry and he didn't inspect it thoroughly because he had another appointment. He came back another day and inspected it a little better. He left some roof shingles lifted up so the adjuster could see it. When he found out that we had Travelers Insurance he was more optimistic to see if he could get the claim to go through. The insurance adjuster came out and said that because there wasn't enough wind damage on the roof and all that he could do was approve a claim to fix or ceiling for $1400. Why would I fix my ceiling until I get my roof leak fixed? The technician told me that they would try to appeal the claim and it may take up to 5 -6 months to get the appeal to approve. He also said that they would tarp the part of the roof so it wouldn't leak. Another rain storm and roof leaked again. I asked if they heard anything back from the insurance and was told by the technician that they were still in negotiations but that the insurance might stand firm in the claim not going through. I'm not disappointed but the claim, I'm disappointed that the technician did not do thorough inspections or even go into my attic or even put up a tarp like he said he would. I will change my rating if they contact me with good news or bad news. I'm not going to chase them. I'm the customer. Right now, I feel like a number.
