We had a good time at roofers! The security guard outside was super friendly and informative on not only roofers but the sister restaurant code red. We started at the bar downstairs and grabbed some food and a drink k which were both awesome. The fish and chips were delicious! Perfectly fired and buttered pure heaven. The spicy margarita was fun and delicious! Highly recommend you grab yourself both. We wandered up to the roof afterward and even though it was pouring outside it was still really fun. Great bar tenders up there as well. The space is small though and they were saying there would be live music that night, so it was getting a little tight. Otherwise highly recommend giving this place a go!

I've been to Roofers Union a few times, it's def an AdMo staple. I went with friends on a Saturday around 6pm. Surprisingly, there were only a few occupied table, and because of this I was hopeful that service would timely and efficient. We must have gotten there around shift change, however, because it took 20 minutes to get in drink orders and at least another 20 to receive them. Our servers were switched halfway through, after which service picked up tremendously. Thanks Nathan We ordered the truffle fries and were disappointed by the lack of any truffle seasoning whatsoever. The staff kindly switched them out for a different appetizer, which was greatly appreciated. Be sure to sit next to the window, it's a terrific view of 18th St.

The roof top at Roofers Union gives a great view of the city. Their drink menu is standard. We had some Modelos and sat watching the skyline. The playist was wacky. It was a mix of Eminem and country hits I've never heard before. The vibes were good. People were socializing and having a good time! I would come back again another time.

I stopped by the rooftop bar with a friend to have dinner on a beautiful spring evening. The rooftop bar has a tent on top of it that made it feel surprisingly cramped. However, the view from the edge was great and we found a nice spot on stools with a ledge for our food and drinks. Unfortunately, the food was just not great. I had fish and chips with fries and it was really average. The fries were not great at all. They have a rooftop only menu, but the fish and chips are on the normal menu so I'm not sure what other food items are like. The service was pretty absent too, which I honestly expected because it's pretty much like a bar. I think in the future I would come here for a drink but not for the food. There are probably better rooftop spots in the area.

Cool spot to pop into if you're in the area. If you're into lobster then Tuesday's would be a great time to visit since they have whole lobster for $25. The corn was dry and overcooked. I did fried cauliflower and Brussel sprouts. They weren't seasoned well. Very mid. I used the aioli and hotsauce to give them a kick. Happy hour is from 5-7pm so It was nice to pay $8 for a drink vs $28 for a drink in DC. Service was good, everyone was helpful.

Food was great and came out in a good time. Restaurant was kind of loud tho just bc of the crowd. Service was okay as well, had to wait like 10 mins for a refill. I would def go back here good spot overall with good food!

Stopped in for brunch and were able to be seated on the roof which was great for enjoying food on a beautiful day! The food was pretty decent. I think the idea of a mimosa board is cool. Basically a board with smoked salmon, a bagel, capers, cream cheese, tomatoes and onion and comes with a mimosas. Definitely would come back again

Had some friends visiting from out of town and they were staying in Adams Morgan so when we were asked where to meet up for lunch Roofers was the first that came to mind. Have been here a few times since they reopened under new ownership but always just sat outdoors in front so this was the first time we checked out the updated dining room on the second floor. The space looks to be the same size and even layout but with a nicer looking bar, new wall art and a lot of solid larger rectangular tables good for groups. Spacing is still very good - the tables are all a good size with plenty of elbow room. Only thing is it seems to be much noisier, with sound bouncing off the walls especially when the music volume is high and there are loud groups. It wasn't too busy when we were there but with just 2-3 tables of 6 including our own it was pretty difficult to hear anyone not sitting right next to you. For that matter I'd have preferred to be on the rooftop (alas for got to take a look this time) but probably best when it's cooler. Food - brunch items as it was a weekend - is as usual, well prepared, reliable and filling. Midrange prices comparable to area restaurants. We all had entrees, sides and drinks and it came to around $30/pp before tip. Despite the noise issue I like the updated space - definitely worth repeated visits.

Overhyped, not enough flavor and very little food for the price, the cocktails were not that great, I was disappointed

Such a picturesque spot for a little sunset rooftop drink. Pictured are the views around sunset of the Adams Morgan area. The drinks themselves were typical DC prices and I was a fan of the lychee martini. Would definitely recommend if in the area! It was just really crowded and loud so would caution against those looking for a quiet chill place.

If you are looking for somewhere with very casual dining in the Adams Morgan area - this could be a good spot for you. From the pictures online, we were hoping to eat on the rooftop, but that was closed and not open (even with a reservation). Similar to what some of the other reviews mention (which I unfortunately didn't check before visiting), the dinner menu has a limited selection of options. There is also very little interaction/engagement with the severs or staff, as orders are made through a QR code on each table. One thing this does mean is that food and drinks come really quickly - so, if you're short on time... This could be a good option for you. I tried the chicken wings, Bucatini pasta, and sampled the friend chicken thigh sandwichwhich was okay. Overall it was an okay dining experience.

We initially came for happy hour, but moved to the cocktail menu. The hh was a bit limited, but the drinks were priced overall pretty reasonably for the area. My one complaint is the wine glasses were so teeny. Overall though, I would recommend this bar. Bonus: cheese balls when you sit down! I believe there is also a limited food menu (think nachos) for the after work or late night crowd.

The cocktails are interesting and thoughtfully created. Unlike a typical mezcal-based cocktail, Promiscuous wasn't tropical or fruity at all, but more spirit-forward with a little spice. Highly recommend. It made me curious about what else they could offer. I noticed almost everyone was doing the $48 four-course tasting experience, so I decided to give it a try. Although I'm not a big fan of deep-fried food, I actually really liked the coconut shrimp tempura. Among the four courses, the yellowtail "roll" was the most special. It's not really a roll in the traditional sense -- crispy on the outside, with the yellowtail wrapped around it in a very creative presentation. The portion of the four- courses was surprisingly generous; I ended up taking most of it home. Since I Left You is an Old Fashioned variation with miso, blackberry, cardamom and cacao. If, like me, you dig creative takes on an Old Fashioned, don't miss this one. I came in just looking for a chilled place to have a drink, and ended up staying for the whole experience. That probably says enough.

Advice: sitting outside might be better in the cooler weather because we were being eaten alive by mosquitoes and fighting off flies. I really hope that they consider some type of nature oils near the tables to help guests feel more comfortable outdoors. Also, it would help to get more than one fan. Hospitality: aside from the bugs encounter, I would say that we did not have reservations (they were packed inside) so the hostess was nice enough to accommodate us outdoor. Our waiter, Anthony was a ball of energy and he really understands the dishes and was able to give great recommendations, some of which we plan to try on our next visit. Portions: the dishes are shareable so we only ordered the beef noodles and walnut shrimp and both were more than enough for a party of 2. DRINKS: I ordered the dark and stormy which can best be described as not too sweet and perfect for anyone desiring a well balanced drink. The bourbon smash was also really good. Well balanced with a smoky flavor which I loved. FOOD: Beef noodles- gosh this was so divine! Be warned however, there is a bit of spice to it but nothing that you won't be able to handle. I think the spices paired with the preparation of the noodles and the beef all made this dish memorable. Walnut shrimp- another memorable dish which came with a side of white rice. The shrimps were HUGE! But the flavors on each shrimp paired with that crunchy texture and creamy sauce, spectacular! The Dan Dan noodles were SO good. The sauce was the perfect combination of creamy and spicy, and there was a generous amount of minced pork that balanced everything out really well. The wontons paired perfectly with the chili sauce that came with them! They were spicy--my ears turned red and my nose started running--but I literally could not stop going back for another bite. Even the wontons alone were incredibly filling. I don't live anywhere near this place, and I genuinely wish I did. I traveled pretty far to get here, and I'd absolutely do it again.
