Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We specifically made reservations for indoor seating, but when we arrived, we were seated outside instead. The outdoor area was extremely crowded, with people constantly standing right on top of our table taking pictures, which made the experience uncomfortable and far from relaxing. We also had a disappointing interaction with the bartender. We saw him making a drink and politely asked what it was because it looked interesting. Instead of being helpful, he simply dismissed us with, "I don't know," which came across as extremely rude and unwelcoming. To make matters worse, our waitress took over 20 minutes to even come to our table. When she finally did, we placed an order for drinks, but the drinks never arrived. At that point, we decided it wasn't worth staying. We got up and left and asked her to cancel the drink order. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. When you make reservations and expect a certain level of service, you should at least receive the seating you reserved, attentive service, and basic courtesy from the staff. Unfortunately, we received none of those things. We left without ever getting our drinks and would not return based on this experience. read more

Finally got to celebrate my birthday tonight with my best friend of 31 years. I had wanted to enjoy a summer evening on a rooftop venue that wasn't going to be difficult to schedule or find parking. The valet service was excellent and ticket is validated with meal purchase, the Marriott AC hotel first level is beautiful and very modern. The food was excellent and felt like we had one of the best seating options available; view was great! Many indoor, outdoor and partial outdoor options. Lots of food and drink menu options and even excellent mocktail options. Our server Lauren B was one of the best wait staff We have ever had; and after 31 years of celebrations and girls nights we have had some memorable experiences; tonight was awesome and truly so special! thank you Lauren B and all the staff at Rooftop Envio who helped make this an amazing night for us! My wife and I were dropping our daughter off at school and I wanted a cool place to enjoy our last dinner together for a while. I had been eyeing this place for a while, so made the reservation. We arrived and the sun was going to set in 45 min. There were plenty of tables available in the sun so I requested one. The hostess ignored my request and sat us in the shade on the other side of the roof from where I requested. She just said that table wasn't clean even though I stated we would wait. That table sat in the sun for almost an hour, never bussed. So, we sat down ready to enjoy a nice evening. We waited for a server. None came. I watched other tables and they seemed to be experiencing the same lack of attention. Finally, after 20 min, a server came by and apologized, saying there was miscommunication and no one knew whose table we were. I laughingly said that the wait was worth a round of drinks on the house and he said "you are right." So we were happy about that. He took our drink and app order and disappeared. 20 min later he came by and said the bar was backed up, but our drinks would be out soon. They did arrive. Mine wasn't even the correct martini, but I drank it because we couldn't find our guy, again. Soon after our apps arrived, we asked the gentleman that delivered them to bring us place settings. He told our server who came over and said he'd bring them over. We stared at our apps for 15 min until I got up from my table, walked around the restaurant, found clean plates and service for 4, greaves everything myself and brought it to my table so we could eat. Surprising, after such horrible service, the food happened to be good. The wings were tasty, the crispy cauliflower was also very good. The lobster wontons were OK. We finished our apps in time for the arrival of our entrees. The delivery staff just pushed all our empty, dirty app plates to the center of our table and dropped the entrees, never removing the finished dishes. The hostess was walking around, she walked right past our table to a dirty table and began bussing it. There was no one there yet our table right next to her was teaming over with dirty empty dishes and cocktail glasses. She looked over several times but just kept bussing the other table. Still no sightings of a server. We finished our meal and had already decided we were escaping this place. The only thing our server did do quick, was take my credit card. BTW, the table I requested, was still dirty and empty when we left and he never comped our first round. The view was nice, the atmosphere being outside under the sky, was nice, but I would only come back to this place to sit at the bar and have an appetizer. And maybe get the cocktail I originally ordered. There are a lot of great spots in and around Portsmouth. This place needs to get it together. We did not appreciate the way we treated at this establishment. Our experience at the rooftop bar was very disappointing. The host told us to sit on the couches. When we asked to sit at a table for drinks, she repeated "couches" and said someone would be over. We sat there completely ignored for over 10 minutes. The bar was moderately busy, and plenty of waitstaff walked right past us without making eye contact but never approaching us. The setting is beautiful, and the sunset views were truly spectacular. The food was also excellent--especially the orange ginger glazed salmon, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The summer house salad (once corrected) was fresh and satisfying, and the Granite State mocktail was a refreshing, creative option. Unfortunately, there was a major miscommunication between the waitstaff and the kitchen. Despite clearly stating a chicken allergy, we were served the summer house salad with chicken instead of the salmon we ordered. This kind of error is not only frustrating but potentially dangerous. I also ordered the Hibi Margarita, which arrived with an egg white foam--something not listed in the ingredients. After informing the manager (due to a raw egg allergy), the replacement drink also came with the same foam. It showed a clear lack of attention to dietary restrictions and allergies. Overall a very nice experience. The location is great (well, there is construction going on in the area, so it will be better in the future), the food is good, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Kyrie was our server, she was great. The food was very good and reasonably priced, nice selection of drinks. I had the Envio Chowder to start, great flavor, my wife had the wings, they were really good. I had the short rib, it was really tasty and didn't even need a knife to cut it, it was so tender, it fell off with just a pull from the fork. Apparently, this is a hot spot with the locals, especially when the weather is nice, so I recommend making a reservation. read more

My friend and I went in for dinner on a Saturday evening after 6 and were seated right away. We made reservations which I strongly recommend doing. Upon initial entry the restaurant manager Deb was very kind and let us pick where we wanted our outdoor seating. The server took an awful long time to acknowledge our table and bring us the $9 still water that she couldn't seem to pour into the cups which is generally part of serving etiquette. Notable mention that every other server was pouring the water for their tables. She also forgot to provide our table with silverware and didn't seem to notice even after bringing the food to our table. She was having trouble keeping up with the pace of a Saturday evening, she would probably benefit from picking up a few more weekday shifts to work on her time management skills before handling the weekends. I ordered the Crispy parmesan crusted chicken which was delicious, could've done with a little less of the arugula salad they'd thrown on the top considering the garlic cream at the bottom provided plenty of flavorful notes and I felt the arugula overpowered that. My friend ordered the Orange-ginger glazed salmon which she described as perfectly cooked and an immediate favorite upon first bite. Overall I would give this place another try maybe on a slower day, the food was delicious and Deb was truly amazing. The outdoor seating had heaters running so we weren't too chilly after the sunset. We tried Envio this past Thursday night. It was interesting for us to find out they have music on Thursdays - an added bonus. Also, it was happy hour (4-6) which was nice. We were greeted by a warm and friendly host named Deb. She brought us to the attractive outdoor deck. It was windy that day, but Deb was accommodating, even offering a blanket to my wife when she said she felt cold. Deb worked with us to give us a table protected from the wind. Little did we know, we would need Deb's help later in the visit. Our server, Hannah, was very helpful at first. She was knowledgeable about the menu and very helpful. We decided to have drinks and several rounds of appetizers. We started off with drinks for each of us and an order of nachos to share. The happy hour menu (very limited) on their website lists Neon Sails IPA. We like IPA's but Hannah advised us that they have never carried that beer in the time she worked there, so we ordered regular priced brews. Food and drinks came out quickly. Nice service. The nachos did not look like a quality dish to us - different than a nacho dish construction that we are used to. When we ate it though, it was really good tasting. I think we were thrown off by the lack of heavy dose of cheese. This shows that you can have great nachos (and perhaps a little healthier) without burying them in cheese. We ordered a second round with Hannah at 5:45 PM. I noted the time because my wife ordered a drink off the happy hour list 15 minutes before the curtain dropped on the lower price. That's when Hannah went missing. We waited and waited. No Hannah. We did have a brief sighting of her, across the room, but she never came over. As we continued to look for Hannah, and as our concern increased that perhaps she had been abducted, we observed Deb. She was everywhere. Helping serve stuff, grabbing empty containers, laughing and talking with customers. After just two minutes short of a half hour, I went to see Deb. Her response was amazing. She took over, brought our drinks so fast I asked her if they were sitting for a half hour. Nope, she must have poured them herself. We ordered two bowls of clam chowder. They came out so fast that she must have put us first in line in the kitchen. The chowder was very good. Rich thick and creamy. A little while later Hannah reappeared, walked right by our table, but made no contact. Maybe ten minutes later, she came back to us and pretended that nothing happened. No explanation. Why did she not acknowledge what happened? There could have been a good reason. Even if she just had simply forgot us, why not just own up to it? We are not mean people. Most people are forgiving. We went on to order honey pork belly burnt ends with homemade pickles. They were very good also, especially the pickles. I'm not big on pickles, but I would buy a few jars of them if I could. They were that good. The service became good again. Summary: Very nice setting. Great outdoor and indoor space with a big bar. Limited menu but very good food. With one exception, good staff, and at least one superstar. Rating calculation: Hannah, one star. Deb, food and facility, 5 stars. 5 + 1 = 6. 6 divided by 2 = 3 stars. Overall, a solid place. 4 of us went for dinner in early December 2024 and reserved one of their outside igloos. The igloo concept is great, and the views are wonderful. It was a really fun experience with outstanding service. However, if it's really cold out like it was that night, all I can tell you is to dress really, really warm and heavy socks. And if you do an igloo, bear in mind the time limit as there really isn't time to dine in a really leisurely manner. The overall ambiance of the facility itself is a little stark for me. It's pretty, but you really have to like that sort of hyper modern style - which, in my opinion, contradicts the entire Portsmouth, NH "vibe". We all found our meals excellent, although the menu is quite limited. However, in my opinion: to put a hamburger onto a menu that is limited, and in such a fancy place (such that they have a 'smart casual' dress code suggestion) is odd: I don't care how good the hamburger is: it's still just a hamburger. And as others have commented on the parking: It's quite confusing and the nearby lot is something like $6.50 and hour, and the hotel's valet parking is $20. There is a municipal meter located on the right as you pull onto Vaughan Street for that street that we used and it's not bad. Both Hanover and Foundry parking garages are an easy .3 of a mile walk, though if you're not familiar with winter weather in Portsmouth be prepared for a brisk experience. read more

This rooftop restaurant and bar is located atop The Envio hotel Portsmouth, a Marriott property. It's a great place for a drink and some light bites, or a full dinner. A very open air restaurant with seats indoors as well as outside on the patio. Nice views across the mill pond as well. Be advised that if you dine outside on a hot sunny day, there are no umbrellas and it will be very hot if you are not in the shade. Overall, we've found the food and drinks to be good, and usually the service is on point, but we've had a few service issues on some visits. I would not let that discourage you from trying however, and we've returned and had delightful service on our last visit. We've enjoyed a number of cocktails, and have sampled many of the small plate appetizers, most recently a delicious hummus plate. On this last visit the baked brie and shrimp cocktail were also very good. read more

What a great find. Though it was a bit chilly to be outside, they have done a great job with the clear walls to block wind but keep an excellent view of the city.
