Great chicken salad sandwich. The cashier gave me some tips on which bread, griddled, etc. I tried the house chicken salad and the jalapeño chicken salad. Both were very good! The jalepeno one is not spicy, no need to shy away from that one. Will definitely be back to try other varieties. read more

I've heard that the food is good but I didn't get that far. I can't read the menu on the wall so I attempted to just list what I wanted - two eggs, sausage, pancakes. I was told that Roost doesn't have that combination. I can get this or that or whatever but not what I wanted. The restaurant was empty. I left for another restaurant that is more flexible. Ate here for breakfast. Food was good and there was plenty of it. Iced tea was freshly brewed and good: as usual, sweet tea was very sweet. I had about 7/8 unsweetened and 1/8 sweet and it was perfect for me. Had a short stack of three plate sized pancakes, eggs, bacon and potatoes. Loved the potatoes! Everything else was good but not great. We were able to eat outside with our dog which was good. The only thing that bothered me was cleanliness. I couldn't see the kitchen but the man at the register had dirty fingernails and the ladies' room was not clean. Always makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the rest of the place. Would be worth going back to see if this was just a bad day or a normal state of affairs. read more

The Roost is a great little breakfast/deli. We stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is clean modern contemporary. Good variety for breakfast and lunch. We ordered the Apple, Grape Chicken Salad on whole wheat and the Dagwood. Both sandwiches were very fresh and delicious. My chicken apple grape salad reminded me of mother's recipe (Yum!). I ordered the Cobb salad to go. It was $15, no chicken on it, very small. I didn't care for the raspberry dressing. I ordered steamed vegetables on the side. It was squash, I love squash, however this was bland, and over cooked. I will never return. My husband ordered the rooster, he liked it, it was hearty. We ate there on 7-8-22 for lunch. My recommendation...wait AT LEAST another month (or two) before trying Roost. They are now going on 3 months with portable, rented air-conditioners on wheels - only 2 of them - to cool the entire place. They need a MINIMUM of 2 more portable A/Cs to make it bearable in there for their customers. Honestly, not sure why they even opened without A/C when New Braunfels is averaging 100 degree temps per day right now - it's JULY! Guess it's all about the almighty dollar :( The booths are almost painful to sit in too since the benches are made completely of plywood (with a coat of black paint). No cushioning of any kind. We opted for a table after trying out the hard benches. Roost might have some potential (in a couple of months), but until they either add more portable A/Cs or figure out a workaround to replace the 22 ton roof-mounted unit they are waiting on parts/skilled installers for, it just doesn't make for a relaxing meal and sadly, we cannot recommend it at this time. read more

Even though there food is good the drive thru and service inside is horrible. I still give them a shot for time to time but nothing has changed. The drive through with no one in it took more than 20 min and I waited to order at the window for 5 min until I said something in the mic. I understand being a new deli I've been there but you would think they would get it together by now. read more

The first time I went I ordered chicken salad and tuna salad to bring home. They were both above average, but not great. A week or so later my husband and I went there for lunch. I got the Reuben sandwich. It was an expensive mess. The meat was like rubber and very fatty. I told the server about it and she just said she'd tell them in the back. So my $15. Sandwich ended up being totally inedible. I brought the other half home (why I don't know) and then threw it in the trash. Very disappointing. Doubt I'll return. read more

This is place is exactly what New Braunfels needed!! We're huge fans of Roost already, and some weeks go back to back days. It's light, refreshing, and fairly priced for the quality of food you receive. There's no place like it in NBTX, and we're so happy to see some new food options. I was so excited to finally try this restaurant because I love chicken salad. I went at lunchtime and I thought it felt warm in the restaurant but I didn't ask any questions. I ordered the original chicken salad because I wanted to taste the special spices. I didn't taste anything like special spices. Pretty much chicken mayo and celery. I ordered one scoop which was not enough for the sandwich. I asked about this as I was ordering and they assured me it would be enough. When I spread the scoop to the edges of the bread it was a little thin. I ordered farmhouse white bread. I thought it would be homemade but it was more like bread I would get at the grocery store. When my order was brought to my table, I asked if they were having trouble with the air conditioner because it was very hot in the restaurant. They told me they don't have an air conditioner yet. Not sure that I want to go back for the food, though people have said breakfast is good, but I definitely will not be going back until they have air conditioning! read more
