After a celebratory bday dinner for my BIL, we were in need of continuing the party. Being that this bar was located a few miles down from us, we decided to check it out. W XYZ Bar is located in a hotel and although we were in search of something kind of low key, this place was just dead!! Not dead in the way that no one was here but dead in terms of no liveliness. There was 3 other parties already here as we arrived- 2 at the bar and one couple cupcaking in a booth. There was one gentleman handling the bar and we immediately placed our order for some cocktails. Drinks didn't come pretty like they were shown on Yelp, they were pretty basic. No pretty flowers, rimmed glasses, N A D A. Shots started coming into play and the night just got better from there. The bartender [Salvé??] started to warm up and our party of 4 ended up making our own fiesta. 2 stars overall but one additional star thanks to the polite bartender. Just wished the drinks came out prettier, especially since the cost wasn't cheap.

W XYZ Bar was an unexpected and refined stop nearby downtown Sunnyvale. Located in the renovated Aloft Sunnyvale, it has plentiful seating, a chill bar area, and multiple television screens topped by a mesmerizing ticker tape. The bartender was nice and friendly and gave some solid recommendations. Their drink menu is legit with craft libations and artisanal ingredients that match most bars in the area. Obviously the hotel is a popular stop by work and business travelers but with the solid food scene in downtown Sunnyvale, it's nice to have a cocktail bar you can stop by afterwards for just a night cap. W XYZ Bar accepts credit cards including American Express.

Chill place, with plenty of room to do work. Awesome craft cocktails, with a nice selection of small batch and imported spirits. Really good vibe, the type of place where you can have a conversation and try some more unique spirits. Ask for Travis the bartender, he is good at what he does.

You need to ask for Nikki at the WXYZ Bar. She has been fantastic for me and my friends. Best bartender in town !! She has the best smile and the best personality!!

Low energy environment with mediocre drinks. Wasn't bad, but we probably wouldn't go again.

Rarely is the bartender a craftsman. More rarely at the aloft. Travis is the real deal. Barrel aged cocktails and local spirits!

The cocktail menu is inspired by records, and you can feel the creativity in every sip. These aren't your standard bar pours -- they're clearly thought out and crafted with personality. If you're someone who appreciates a drink with a story behind it, you'll be in your element here. The live DJ on weekends takes the whole experience to another level. The music isn't background noise -- it's part of the atmosphere, and it hits right. What makes this place truly special is that you're getting two completely different vibes under one roof. Walk into Still OG up front and you get a casual, laid-back energy -- easy conversation, good company, no pretension. Then slip into the speakeasy in the back and the whole mood shifts. Alter Ego is a proper intimate lounge with their full bar, and it feels like a world away from the street outside. The transition between the two spaces is surprisingly seamless and genuinely fun to experience. And they're open late, which puts them in a rare category of places actually worth staying out for. Whether you're there for a chill night out or a proper evening, this place delivers both without making you choose.

The front area is colorful, funky, and artsy, while the back lounge leans more classic and intimate with a moodier cocktail bar feel. The little DJ section adds energy without making it impossible to talk. The crowd was all over the place in the best way, very eclectic, social, and lively. I wasn't obsessed with every drink we tried, but I definitely preferred the cocktails coming from the back lounge over the front bar. Overall though, it's a solid open-late spot if you want a fun atmosphere, good music, and somewhere that feels a little more creative than the average cocktail lounge.

Upon arrival, it was unclear whether it was open seating or if we were supposed to wait to be seated. Finally, the person behind the bar indicated we can seat anywhere. I asked for recommendations and ended up with getting Panda Fizz, and it was SO good that I ended up getting 2 that night! We shared the fries and karaage to start, and they were super delicious. We ended up getting the sando, but it never came for some reason, so we ended up cancelling them when we were ready to finish the night. The food and drinks were pretty good for a bar hotel, but the service was not as spot-on as expected.

The restaurant leans hard into the floral theme with oversized arrangements, pastel decor, and even a flower market selling a mix of dried and silk flowers. It could feel gimmicky, but somehow it ends up being charming. The drinks are what initially caught my attention. Every table seemed to have something colorful and elaborate on it. More importantly, they weren't just pretty. The butterfly pea lemonade and strawberry matcha latte were genuinely delicious, not just Instagram bait masquerading as beverages. For food, the Chop Steak Skillet was the winner. Tender steak, vegetables, rice, and a sunny-side-up egg served sizzling hot. The pork cutlet was also excellent, crispy and satisfying with a rich sauce, cabbage salad, and potato salad on the side. Dessert is non-negotiable. Order the strawberry soufflé pancake. It arrives towering, fluffy, and impressively jiggly. The strawberry sauce adds just enough sweetness without overwhelming the pancake itself. Santa Clara has no shortage of brunch spots. GIWA stands out because it understands that dining should be fun. Good food, genuinely good drinks, and an atmosphere that doesn't take itself too seriously. I'll be back.

No big deal, as I wanted the bar anyway, but something others should keep in mind. The cocktail list is plentiful and intriguing. I tend to avoid tequila, so that eliminated a good chunk of the options. I went with Rose Colored Lenses, which was fantastic, and decently sized. Presentation was beautiful. My friend had All a Dream, also very good. The wine offerings are minimal, this is very much a cocktail or champagne type of place, with caviar being the primary food service. Speaking of service, the bartender was excellent, both in his mixology and demeanor. It took awhile to get the drinks, but I assume that was due to the complexity of the cocktails, paired with having just opened the doors a few min earlier. Two notes: 1. The barstools were a little too low, imo. I don't normally pay much attention to that detail, but these were uncomfortably low for me, even with my long torso, I was hyper aware of my posture. So maybe that's actually a good thing 2. Other patrons were rolling in shortly behind me, so there is probably an early crowd when they first open, then a late night group that appreciates the 2am closing time. Interior is beautiful, and you can use the steps up to the 2nd floor either from N Santa Cruz or the rear parking lot off W Main. More substantial food options are a mere few steps across the hall at Heritage.

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. I feel like this was the first time where I understood the price even the the quantity is no where close to be desired. One shrimp is like $6 and I was like whoah. Service is definitely more laid back and it's overall just like a more chill atmosphere. I'm fortunate to work nearby so I'll definitely visit this place a few times after work to blow off some steam... And the drinks! Yes they are good! They are also quite strong! Most of it was delicious, a couple were just meh (katsu was not anything special, not was the duck meatball). Other than that, and over all, would highly recommend this spot in general.
