After a celebratory bday dinner for my BIL, we were in need of continuing the party. Being that this bar was located a few miles down from us, we decided to check it out. W XYZ Bar is located in a hotel and although we were in search of something kind of low key, this place was just dead!! Not dead in the way that no one was here but dead in terms of no liveliness. There was 3 other parties already here as we arrived- 2 at the bar and one couple cupcaking in a booth. There was one gentleman handling the bar and we immediately placed our order for some cocktails. Drinks didn't come pretty like they were shown on Yelp, they were pretty basic. No pretty flowers, rimmed glasses, N A D A. Shots started coming into play and the night just got better from there. The bartender [Salvé??] started to warm up and our party of 4 ended up making our own fiesta. 2 stars overall but one additional star thanks to the polite bartender. Just wished the drinks came out prettier, especially since the cost wasn't cheap.

W XYZ Bar was an unexpected and refined stop nearby downtown Sunnyvale. Located in the renovated Aloft Sunnyvale, it has plentiful seating, a chill bar area, and multiple television screens topped by a mesmerizing ticker tape. The bartender was nice and friendly and gave some solid recommendations. Their drink menu is legit with craft libations and artisanal ingredients that match most bars in the area. Obviously the hotel is a popular stop by work and business travelers but with the solid food scene in downtown Sunnyvale, it's nice to have a cocktail bar you can stop by afterwards for just a night cap. W XYZ Bar accepts credit cards including American Express.

Chill place, with plenty of room to do work. Awesome craft cocktails, with a nice selection of small batch and imported spirits. Really good vibe, the type of place where you can have a conversation and try some more unique spirits. Ask for Travis the bartender, he is good at what he does.

You need to ask for Nikki at the WXYZ Bar. She has been fantastic for me and my friends. Best bartender in town !! She has the best smile and the best personality!!

They were attentive and made sure our water glasses were always full. The interior is beautiful with all of the plants. Their goat empanadas are popular for a reason, the aroma was amazing when it was served to our table. I really enjoyed it as an appetizer and the sauce paired well. The sautéed green beans with fish sauce aioli were umami heaven. It was just as delicious as I remembered, when I visited Girl & The Goat in Chicago a few years ago. The sticky pork shank was tender and fell right off the bone. I made lettuce wraps with the pork, pickled veggies, and sauces provided - wow, everything tasted so delicious! We also ordered the skirt steak to share, which was good, but a bit chewy. I definitely recommend getting the pork shank. Overall, Valley Goat has unique and tasty dishes that I don't think I can find elsewhere around South Bay. Anyway, I met up with some friends here last weekend and we had a reservation at Alter Ego. I guess it's technically 2 places with Still OG. I have to say, I have really fond memories of Original Gravity from back in the day (ah, the days of my youth...) so it's nice that it's still sort of around though.. technically completely different since there's no more craft beer or duck fat fries lol. We hung out at our table for the whole night, like 4 hours. We all ordered cocktails off the menu and later on ordered some stuff off the menu based on the bartender's suggestion. I first ordered a Calabrian Spritz from the menu which hit the spot for me. Personally, I am not a hard alcohol fan but I enjoy wine and fun lil cocktails that are slightly sweet/not super strong lol. So this drink was nice because it wasn't too sweet and had a lot of volume (I like just sipping on stuff in general and it sucks when you order a cocktail that's like 3 sips of liquid and the rest is ice). The next cocktail I ordered was off the menu and called Like This or That (I think). I think it was some sort of passionfruit + vodka mix and very delicious! We also ordered the cold soba noodles and fries. Fries were crinkle cut and nicely crispy, no complaints. Soba noodles were also good, though some component of it was really spicy, I think the cucumbers. Overall I had a good time here and look forward to coming back, though given how little I go out, who knows when that will be haha.

It had an upscale vibe, but it was in the lobby of a hotel! The menu was interesting -- Japanese whiskey cocktails mainly -- and some food items. They have a separate menu for wine and champagne that they brought us awhile later. I think you may need to ask for that if they don't give that to you right away. The drinks were delicious and made pretty quickly, but if you expect table service at this lounge, you may be waiting a long time. We found that the best way to get drinks here is to go to the bar to order, and they can bring the drinks over (or you can wait for them, of course). For the price, I'd expect better service but you may need to go further than Sunnyvale. Overall I think Nokori is a decent bar lounge, and I love the niche is on Japanese whiskey.

The ambience definitely creates a nice mood for dining. Since I was there to eat--not to celebrate anything and not particularly concerned about the cuteness--I paid more attention to other things: the spacing between tables, which felt a little too tight and close together; the service; the seating; and, most importantly, the food quality. The staff were very attentive and gracious throughout our visit. The Korean Pork Cutlet was juicy and delicious. It was a generous portion--easily enough for two people. It came with a delicious corn soup, potato salad, and several condiments. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the American Wagyu Steak with Cheese Dip. I ordered it medium, but the meat was so tough it was like chewing leather. Definitely not what I expected from a Wagyu steak. Would I go back? Probably not for a while, unless I was looking for a place with a fun atmosphere for a celebration. For me, good food comes first, and unfortunately, the steak experience left me questioning the quality of their other beef dishes. And I'm a beef eater!

I didn't think the Romos Gin Fizz was what I expected as what I made was quite different. I never made the Last Word as I don't have green Chartreuse. The Last Word was more complex than I had anticipated probably because of the green Chartreuse. Fernando used Starbucks coffee in the espresso martini. The coffee was good, but unfortunately overpowered the gin. If we had known, we probably would have asked for a stronger gin. The negroni was good, but not really my kind of drink. I started to like it a bit after some ice melted and the bitter taste was not as dominant. We were the only customers at the bar from 9:30 to 11pm. Appreciated the space all to ourselves and Fernando's drinks and company.
