This lounge at the Aloft hotel in Sunnyvale is both classy and casual, the setup not as nice as the Santa Clara location which is my fave, but still an inviting space with its own perks. We came by on a Wednesday night and enjoyed some delicious cocktails along with amazing service. Not only did the bartenders help guests sitting at the bar, but they walked around checking on everyone in the lounge seating, and showed that they cared about the customer experience. They messed up on the first pair of drinks we ordered, but comped our second set of cocktails which they made ten times better. We really appreciated this. Adding to our lovely evening, the live music created just the right vibe. Mike Annuzzi, who plays here weekly, showcased some incredible talent on the guitar and vocals, performing great tunes including a jazzy rendition of Michael Jackson's Human Nature, Fly Me to the Moon, as well as some Richard Marx, Now and Forever. Sometimes we take good music for granted, but I don't want to forget the simple moments that create smiles. W XYZ in Sunnyvale features not just an awesome musician, but an excellent sound system too, with suitable volume and clarity, to go along with soothing melodies that ease your mind. Everything about my recent visit makes me wanna return to this spot. And you don't need to be staying at the hotel to take advantage of all this place has to offer. read more

I am torn. Great specials but regular drink menu is just ok. There is no food! So disappointing. It was boiling hot inside with no ventilation. After a celebratory bday dinner for my BIL, we were in need of continuing the party. Being that this bar was located a few miles down from us, we decided to check it out. W XYZ Bar is located in a hotel and although we were in search of something kind of low key, this place was just dead!! Not dead in the way that no one was here but dead in terms of no liveliness. There was 3 other parties already here as we arrived- 2 at the bar and one couple cupcaking in a booth. There was one gentleman handling the bar and we immediately placed our order for some cocktails. Drinks didn't come pretty like they were shown on Yelp, they were pretty basic. No pretty flowers, rimmed glasses, N A D A. Shots started coming into play and the night just got better from there. The bartender [Salvé??] started to warm up and our party of 4 ended up making our own fiesta. 2 stars overall but one additional star thanks to the polite bartender. Just wished the drinks came out prettier, especially since the cost wasn't cheap. read more

I LOVE this bar! I have to travel up to Sunnyvale for work every few weeks. I usually stay at a different hotel, but this time around, I stayed at the Aloft Sunnyvale and I'm so happy I did! W XYZ Bar is attached to the hotel and is a hidden gem. It has a beautiful and cozy layout, and the drinks are affordable and insanely well-made. Eryn is an incredible bartender. She genuinely knows her stuff and is an absolute sweetheart. I highly recommend trying one of her specials. They're out of this world good. Review based on one visit last Friday happy hour. Pathetic. No one comes here. Granted it's a hotel bar but supposedly this was a cool place. Arrived at 4pm only to learn they don't open till 5pm. Really? Bartender not friendly at all. Did his job but just not friendly at all. Looked bored. Happy hour drinks were ok. Kind of creative. One extra star for that. Won't come back here. Eryn is a great bartender. She was informative, thoughtful, helpful and engaging to talk to. I was there on business and was working through the night, at one point with my boss at a table. I had a drink or two, a protein bar I had on me and she later arranged for me to have food from a neighboring restaurant. It was so thoughtful of her. Great guest service. read more

Located in the renovated Aloft Sunnyvale, it has plentiful seating, a chill bar area, and multiple television screens topped by a mesmerizing ticker tape. The bartender was nice and friendly and gave some solid recommendations. Their drink menu is legit with craft libations and artisanal ingredients that match most bars in the area. Obviously the hotel is a popular stop by work and business travelers but with the solid food scene in downtown Sunnyvale, it's nice to have a cocktail bar you can stop by afterwards for just a night cap. Don't be fooled by the fact the bar is in a hotel! The drinks are ~$5 cheaper than everywhere on Murphy St nearby, and honestly they're a lot better. Full cocktail bar, and the bartender (Eryn) really knew her stuff. Not only was she good at making the drinks, but she actually comes up with her own cocktails that sometimes make the specials menu. The bar itself is new and clean, with several TVs. It's also one of the only bars around where you can have a regular conversation with the people you're with - no extremely loud music, which is great. read more

Came here for HH with some coworkers, and the drinks are really good, though still a little pricey for HH. I was impressed that they made my coworker a virgin drink with non-alcoholic gin and mango that looked very refreshing. Made a stop at W XYZ bar to avoid traffic back down to San Jose. Was super surprised at how nice the inside of the bar was. Travis was super helpful and beyond knowledgeable about his craft. You can tell that he takes a lot of pride in the cocktails that he creates. There were so many bottles on the shelf that I've never seen before from all over the world. The menu had various specialty craft cocktails and some pretty awesome flights. The menu is apparently rotated pretty often. Don't hesitate to ask for something special! My only advice to management would be to have a more extensive munchies/tapas menu. There is a lot that can be done with less perishable items like specialty nuts, crackers, ect. read more

I rarely post but felt I needed to review this venue. Simply put, I've never seen another place like it. WXYZ is in the lobby of the alof hotel. Travis the 'mixologist' custom make every beverage from scratch. There are many signature cocktails, that must be tried. It's so different from the volume driven bars. To simply have a beer or a glass of wine would be almost a sin. Travis is an award winner with years of experience in both creating and mixing unique cocktails. Some of the signature cocktails date back to pre prohibition. A definite gem in the valley. Almost didn't post because I want to keep this place all to myself. If you are looking for high volume energy, this is not the place for you. While the decor is smart and trendy, sipping your 'highball' will make you fell like you stepped back to a time when drinking was an art. read more

We came here on Sat night after had dinner near by, we were just checking out the place. We asked for some mix cocktails, there is no menu, and they were unable to make the first few drink choices my friend wanted. I got myself a Oban whiskey, she poured loose ice in the glass and pretty much ruined the whisky. Over all, the environment is pretty nice, cozy and trendy. They have very good whiskey selections, though expensive, but good selections, just order neat. They also have limited beer on tap. Apparently, they haven't got everything in order yet. read more

This is a great place to do work or something else quiet but rating it as a bar would say it is average at best right now on weeknights. Was here doing work in between meetings and appreciated the ample space and fast Wi-Fi. The best part is the Wxyz lounge with their amazing bartender Ashley they really know how to make you a real drink. I highly recommend the hotel and the lounge .
