    Dirty Pickle Vodka Martini. Delicious!

Best cocktails around! I asked for a Dirty Pickle Vodka Martini and Bartender Lizzie happily made me one!

Came for lunch on a Friday in that awkward period after Christmas and before the new year. We had about 10 people in our party and there were a handful of other patrons but the restaurant was mostly empty. Service was excellent for a one-woman show. She was literally doing everything (hosting, serving, busing) except for the cooking. She was even answering phones and there were a lot of calls because of their upcoming New Year's Eve party. Apparently there's a karaoke bar downstairs. Ambiance is very dated and I feel like it's trying to be upscale with the linen tablecloth and napkins but it's pretty casual. I was sold on the pork cutlet special, which had blue cheese, some brown sauce and artichokes. The pork was lightly breaded. I typically steer clear of blue cheese because it's usually hit or miss for me. Apparently, our waitress feels the same and had nothing but positive things to say about this dish so I took the chance and ordered it. It wasn't off-putting! Though, I wouldn't call it an amazing dish. The cutlet was lightly breaded, had a nice texture and wasn't overcooked or dry. The gravy with blue cheese tasted like gravy with blue cheese and it drowned out the artichoke flavor, which reappears to be the canned/jarred kind. Nothing special about the vegetables or the scalloped potatoes. I had to dip the potatoes in the gravy for more flavor. The tiramisu cake was pretty dry and the cheesecake was decent but nothing to rave about. Nothing special about their tea selection either. Overall it felt like a decent elevated diner experience. I probably wouldn't come back on my own accord but wouldn't object if my party wanted to go.

I had never been here before and did not realize it overlooked a golf course until I arrived. We came for lunch, and the server warned us she was alone. We opted to stay anyway. As it turned out, she took fine care of us, and we had no long waits. Unfortunately, they were out of several things on the menu, including what my husband and I had intended to order. So he settled for a hamburger, and I ordered the pork loins. We each got side salads, which were good-sized. They gave you a choice of dressing and it featured a decent variety of items. The pork loins were over-cooked, but the gravy was tasty. The scalloped potatoes were okay, but I'd have preferred au gratin. My husband expressed doubt that the burger patty had been a full half-pound as listed on the menu since he finished it. Of course, maybe he was just hungry. :)

Fast forward to our first lesson, after showing our first song to Ken and giving him the vision of what we wanted, Ken started brainstorming with a bunch of great ideas. Every lesson we were piecing the choreography and Ken was able to give us some key point to make it look better. My wife and I were looking forward to every single lesson with Ken, he was always eager to greet us, always had the next part of our choreography put together and made it super pleasant to learn. We could always reach out to him regardless the time of the day, and we were so thrilled with the results of planning my wife and I first dance that my wife and I also scheduled a lesson with our dad/ mom for the mother/son and father/ daughter dance and Ken was able to put something together in that one lesson. Overall my wife and I are truly grateful that he was able to work with us and we were absolutely thrilled with the results on our wedding day. Super grateful about everything and definitely recommend Ken to any/everyone.

His enthusiasm for dance can be seen in every session! We are very inexperienced in dance, and it could be easy to feel intimidated, but Dimitriy is encouraging and makes the technical steps feel fun and approachable. He communicates movement and form clearly, always giving helpful corrections in a supportive way. One thing that really impressed us is his ability to both lead and follow--he switches roles effortlessly to help each partner understand their part, and it makes a world of difference in our confidence. Knowing he's a competitive dancer just adds to how impressive he is. Truly a fantastic teacher and an asset to the studio.

Paying online is highly recommended (https://for-dancers-only.square.site/) For Dancers Only is a swing dancing venue that is operating every other week (on the first and third Fridays of each month). Compared to other swing dancing places, this one is remarkable due to the high level of skills of most dancers. Practically all follows will easily execute a beautiful swingout at a high tempo; most leads will nicely interpret the music. The downside of this is an atmosphere of high expectations from the partner. Highly recommended (and rated accordingly) for a skilled swing dancer; not the best place for a beginner lead (even an advanced beginner). The dancing floor is not large, but was quite spacious for the number of dancers on the day I visited: about 30 total, with a close to equal split between the leads and the follows. First half an hour (8:30PM to 9PM) is used for a brief workshop that can be of interest to the intermediate dancers (and is totally useless for a beginner). Logistics: The dance occurs in the Sunnyvale Community Center and costs $9 (DJ music), with parking truly ample and free. An important hint: unless you are familiar with the layout of the Center, enter North parking lot from the Michelangelo Drive, and watch for multiple cars (the lot is otherwise typically pretty empty at this time) and direction signs to the Theater/Performing Arts. There is typically also an A-frame pointing to the entrance of the dance studio. Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/ForDancersOnly/

After paying $8 at the door and dropping off my bag on one of the chairs on the edge of the dance floor, I struck up a conversation with the other dancers, typically regulars of this place. Everyone was friendly and open to both asking and being asked to dance. The full length mirrors and floorboards helped a lot too. Overall, a great spot to dance that I will return to when I'm in the area!

The last time I went there, I brought some friends and had the unfortunate lesson that DJs are rotated in. So we would not have the Vietnamese DJ. Instead, we had a DJ named Jose Melendez. At the beginning of the night, I requested 90's Hip Hop. He said, "This is 90's Hip Hop." I said, "I've never heard this song before." He said rudely, "That's not my problem." We were the only people on the dance floor for most of the night. The music was terrible and eventually, it became a chore to dance. We were dancing to excercise but spent the night making fun of the music by dancing as terribly as possible. What is the point of DJing if you're only going to play music that empties your dance floor? Hope we never see this DJ again. He was rude his music stunk.

The service was quite slow, but that was understandable considering how busy they were. The employees seemed overwhelmed and were rushing around. The space itself is lovely - tiny dance floor, outdoor patio, plenty of bar seating, and a big pool table. There were a couple people who refused to leave the pool table and give other customers a chance to play, which was entertaining. The music was definitely vintage, and the dance floor got more and more crowded as the night went on. It was a nice place to spend an evening hanging out with friends.
