If this place lowered the cost considerably, they might sell some of this stuff. The Buddha, and other statues in my picture, is over $500 just like most of the other large pots sitting outside forever. Come off the price. People will buy. And so on... it will come back around. Inside was really worse. Upon walk in the damp must was a smack in the face. Costs were ridiculous. Even a vegetable brush was $14? (Just as a reference) I walked the whole store actually trying to find something to buy and walked out shaking my head.

I enjoyed winding my way through the maze of goodies. Some of the things that caught my eye were Polish pottery, pretty reusable tote bags, cheeky kitchen gadgets and funny cocktail napkins. They also had sign art, candles, throw blankets, funny socks, adult greeting cards, yard flags and air plants. It's a very eclectic mix of merchandise. The store is a bit tight in spots so I'd recommend against bringing a gaggle of people, big purse or stroller.

I read about this store in "Coastal Style," which celebrates the luxury lifestyle of the Mid-Atalantic region, (wouldn't that really be luxurious lifestyle?...anyway...) This store carried eco-friendly, unique, and one-of -a-kind art, gifts, and accessories. Sounded a bit like me so I decided to check it out. They definitely have some fun gifts...one whole display from Boulder, Colorado...(wait...don't I live near there? heehee) Anyway, horrible customer service. I was not even acknowledged that I walked into the store or stayed in there for about twenty minutes. Sorry...your gifts weren't that unique and you weren't friendly at all to even have me think of parting with my tourist money!

As Janeen D. pointed out, the staff did not immediately welcome customers entering the store, but I tend to see that is a pro rather than a con. What is important is, when I asked a question, they were obliging and pleasant about answering it. The shop itself is on the small side and cramped by merchandise in several places. There is a large selection, surprisingly few tacky beach things, and a tin asking for animal rescue donations: definite thumbs-up there. I don't know if it's a "must see", but it is a breath of fresh air in a world of endless Sunsations and Candy Kitchens.

At register I noticed the person before me was asked if they were in the system but I was not. Both this time and the previous time I was there. I had to ask the employee if she was going to look me up in the system because I am and prefer email receipts. I would highly suggest re-training employees on customer service. No matter what age or race. People should be treated with respect. I will continue shopping at SMU but stick with Annapolis and Bethesda stores.
