People have been telling me to go to roosters for years and I finally went to the uptown location - it was worth the hype! Immediately upon entering, the host/staff are on top of things. My date and I were guided upstairs and I noticed that the whole place was pretty much packed. I have to give credit to our waitress - I wish I remembered her name but she was English - her accent probably sold us even more lol. We got the impression that the servers really knew the menu and their opinions were worth trusting. We ended up asking for her recommendation on a bottle of wine. She also recommended the tomato soup - I ended up ordering it for pickup several times the week after because it was THAT good. I can't remember the exact wine we got - it was some sort of feature or collab. A red. We got tomato soup, short rib, potatoes au gratin, and fries. One of my favorite meals/experiences in Charlotte. I ate here twice and they did not disappoint. Both times were surrounding an event and I appreciate the ambiance which is a western theme with southern charm. The service was great! Darren was fabulous and he was supported by a team but a young man name Jay went above and beyond. My friends raved about the salmon and I am delighted by their trout. In my family I'm responsible for collard greens so I'm very picky. It's very different from mine but incredibly tasty. I couldn't stop dipping into the potato au gratin as well as the mac and cheese. Sides are served piping hot in a cast iron pan. Very few photos today, but I'll be back. Pro-Tip: Book reservations in advance and bring your parking ticket so it can be validated. Scallops: 4 stars. Well prepared. I enjoy the slight char to the surface but moist texture when biting into it. Accompanying sauce was ok. Went here for dinner with reservation but didn't got seated right away. They were apologizing and was able to get us to the table but kinda tight and brought us appetizer on the house. Finally they were able to move us to the patio area per our reservation. Our sever was attentive and friendly. The food were awesome per usual. We visited rooster's uptown on a Thursday night for a big group dinner. There were 20 of us, and we had a few reservations to make it happen. They seated us all immediately when we arrived. This place has a really interesting menu in that we couldn't really figure out what was appetizer potion and what was entree portion, but I think we made out just fine. We started with a few orders of the burratta. I really liked it for the most part, it had roasted golden beets which I love, but it was topped with "crispy bits" which . . . Basically crumbled nuts, but why not just say that? They really didn't add anything to the dish. I got an order of the ricotta gnocchi with a side of the corn and we all split an order of Brussels sprouts. The gnocchi was perfect, I literally would not change a thing about this dish. The corn was incredibly boring, there was no seasoning on it or anything to make it special. The Brussels sprouts were actually incredible, probably the best thing we had on the table. My colleagues were all super happy with their dishes, except one of them got the pork loin which was overdone. I would definitely recommend this place for a dinner. Their food is so good, and let me tell you our server was so knowledgeable about the menu. Whenever we asked him a question, he had an enthusiastic and detailed answer. I really hate leaving this review. We arrived in Charlotte today for my son's taekwondo tournament at the convention center. He wanted to eat steak and this place is really nearby. We ordered the burrata salad, rotisserie chicken off the child's menu, potatoe casserole, and flank steak. Everything was super salty. We barely touched the potatoes. Our table got a number of apps to share, including a great burrata app with toasted sunflower seed, butter wilted spinach, potatoes au gratin, and Mac and cheese. The seasoning was spot on: flavorful without being overpowering. The calamari was a nice surprise. The sauce it comes with is honestly the star of the show. As a side, we went with the mac and cheese, which unfortunately fell flat. It lacked flavor, and the cheese had a bland taste that didn't really work. I also ordered the Heat of the Moment cocktail, 10/10 recommend! It's not spicy, despite the name, but it's super refreshing and packed with flavor. A bunch of us came to dinner here last night. It was a place a couple of us have been to before, but the majority have not. Roosters seating is pretty wide open. They offer both inside and outside seating. We sat inside. They've got a real good staff there from hostess to server. Everyone seem to have a pitch in attitude. That's nice. For the most part, we all ordered something differently, but shared a bunch of vegetables. Their menu is à la carte. One of the recommendations was trout. Since I'm a fan of seafood, I thought trout was something interesting and I've never had it before. Others ordered shrimp, steak, even a pizza. The size of the trout was good. The price was fair, which is something you look for. The trout was served blackened. As much as I like blackened seasoning, this was really quite salty. I love me some salt, but not to the point where it overwhelms the meal and all you taste is salt. The trout was cooked on the dryer, more well done side. That was disappointing. Of all the sides we ordered the favorites included corn, spinach, beets, and their potatoes. The cauliflower was highly recommended, but it was OK. 1st time in Charlotte and this restaurant popped up for some southern food. Apps we got Calamari and Burrata w/ Focaccia. Both were tasty - calamari had a creamy dip to go with and burrata topped with balsamic glaze and pesto paired perfect with the fresh focaccia. I got the Short Ribs that were very tender although you need sides to cut through the flavor as it feels very heavy. The buttered corn was my favorite, brussel sprouts had some creamy sauce that over did it, wasn't a fan of the collard greens or grits. Had to end the meal with a sweet treat - Raspberry Rhubarb. Very tart but the ice cream and whipping cream together makes it the perfect bite. Service was good, the waiter keep checking on us and food was served in a timely matter. The place is very well located, just one block from the Spectrum Center, perfect for eating before or after the game. I found the space to be very interesting and beautiful, with impeccable and unique service. The kitchen is open to the public and right in the center of the restaurant, which allows you to have some entertainment while you eat. We ordered two meat dishes that were delicious. Unfortunately, the sides didn't match that same quality. The fries were extremely greasy both times they were brought out, and the rosemary potatoes were equally oily, which took away from an otherwise enjoyable meal. Thankfully, the coconut cake saved the day -- light, flavorful, and the perfect sweet finish to the evening. I've walked past here countless times, and after watching us win against the Bucks at the Spectrum Center, figured I'd stop by and have a meal. It wasn't necessarily a read along, but he made commentary about every single item in order. An entire 2-3.5 minutes had passed and I had to interject after particular question was proposed to myself and the person I was with regarding an item off the menu. Other than that Steven was awesome. He touched the table a few times, checked in about the food, drinks and dessert. I got the short rib, I really should have just gotten the duck, because it was just okay to me. I paired it with the sweet potatoes. I got the IF YOU LIKE KIWI COLADAS drink, also okay. They had a pumpkin mascarpone pie that I ordered as well. The vibe reminded me of a NYC/DC/Chicago vibe. I thoroughly enjoy an open kitchen concept. I personally think it helps consumers appreciate the kitchen staff more.
