We had a great meal at customshop this past Wednesday. We tried almost every one of the appetizers and two out of the three pastas as well as the pork chop. All were delicious. We also got a paper plane, an aperol Spritz and an old fashioned. All were made perfectly. Our server was friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. The ambiance is done up well as a higher end casual restaurant. Not stuffy or too fancy but very good quality is the vibe. It was the perfect place to go as a date night with another couple and not bring the kids.
Best meal I have had in a while with fantastic service. We had 2 groups of 8 and our waitress did a great job of handling all of us. I ordered a cocktail and whew! It was nice and strong. I got the duck empanadas as an appetizer and they were fabulous ! Definitely get these ! I ordered the gnocchi with fennel sausage ($28) as my main dish and it was absolutely delicious ! One lady got the crab ravioli, but I was unimpressed. I couldn't taste the crab. Next time I want to order the duck, but bring your wallet because it has a $60 pricetag. 2 of us ordered dessert - one chocolate dessert and one flan. None of us liked either dessert, despite desserts being made inhouse. The chocolate dessert was VERY dense and rich, but so rich you couldn't even eat it. The flan was so solid and eggy, I didn't like it much, but then they topped it with a coffee whipped cream and I hate coffee. It didn't mention the coffee flavor on the menu, but did mention Cordova or something like that which apparently is a coffee... which my unsophisticated, non-coffee drinking self did not realize. However, the waitress was a sweetheart and took both desserts off our tab. Parking is available for free directly in front or behind the restaurant. Do not park on the street. I felt like the hostess stand was in an awkward location. It was right in the middle of our tables 1ft from us. The place was also VERY dark and for most of the meal the music was so loud we couldn't talk. Then about 8pm they finally turned the music down. It was annoying.
Finally made it to Customshop for a Valentine's weekend dinner after hearing so many wonderful things about it for years, and absolutely did not disappoint!!! The space is cozy and elegant, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Good wine selection with a clear emphasis on Spain, Italy and France (which seemed consistent throughout the food menu as well) -- and speaking of the food... wow! Such a unique, tight offering of fresh dishes. We tried some things we've never had before and loved every bite! We started with the hamachi and scallop crudo (I only wish it had been clear on the menu that the scallop wasn't cooked -- probably just would have gotten one crudo had they been clear but they were both still incredible), then we had the mushroom tagliatelle (loved the creamy egg yolk and truffle butter) and the duck breast (the flaky pastelito on the side was to die for, as was the mandarin orange demi glaze - the meat itself was just a little chewy but the flavors more than made up for it). My favorite part? DESSERT. Holy moly. The chocolate pot de creme was very good, but the flan was to DIE for -- perfect texture and great balance of flavor with the cortadito whipped cream. Just phenomenal. Already can't wait to come back and try more delicious seasonal dishes from this talented team. Congrats on the recent Michelin Guide recognition, also -- very well deserved!
Service was kind, attentive and swift. I had an amazing old fashion...I believe it was called Security and Bond. My colleagues raved about their espresso martinis and pins colada mocktail. I truly enjoyed the local gem salad...dare I say best item on the menu :/ The empanadas were tasty though on the drier side. The Halibut truly disappointed me. It was not served as pictured on IG (though I understand it is a rotating menu). It was a heavily crusted and deep fried piece of fish that did not look nor taste like halibut. The bed of beans it sat on tasted bitter and sour and was very undercooked. If you have pork and shellfish dietary restrictions, which was the case for two people in our party, options are severely limited. I would come back here for drinks post dinner elsewhere.
In what felt like a 120x20 ft space this restaurant delivers an experience well above its footprint. Eerily similar experience I had as well at The One Tapas in Matthews. Service here was sharp, attentive and genuinely warm. From the first bite to the last everything was executed with precision. A master class in modern hospitality. The wagyu beef tartare stood out to me. Cut into impeccable little cubes. Seasoning is bold yet nuanced crowned with a feathered-like yuca crisp that shatters on contact adding a brilliant textural contrast. The Branzino was fresh and fork flaky. The pickled red onions added the perfect acidity to cut through the fattiness of the dish. I had a couple pieces of the grilled pork chop that was served with mushrooms and a delicious jus. Presented off the bone and sliced but rested well as each bite was tender and moist. Very memorable dish. This is a rare spot the feels special without trying especially in an era of over-designed dining and forced theatricality. This restaurant reminded me that true luxury lies in impeccable ingredients, confident technique and genuine hospitality. So deeply satisfying. Book ahead. Worth it!
Customshop absolutely delivers. Every dish was thoughtful, flavorful, and beautifully prepared -- the kind of meal where you're already planning your return before you leave. The vibe is cozy, polished, and effortlessly cool. Huge shoutout to Lilly behind the bar -- she was awesome. Super friendly, knew her stuff, and made excellent cocktails that really elevated the night. Between the food, drinks, and service, Customshop is a must-visit in Charlotte.
Fantastic dinner spot! The bar tender was great and could make any drink based on your flavor preferences. We shared the beef tartare (yum), whipped ricotta (yummier!) and squash (just ok) apps. The cod was fantastic - flakey with a slight crunch on the outside. A few of my friends had the gnocchi and liked it but wished the serving size was bigger. Service was great to start, but it took a very long time between finishing our meal to get the check. Large parking lot just across the street.
4.5/5 We loved our experience! Had a reservation and came in with our infant -- everyone was so kind and accommodating. The environment was perfect with our baby - elevated dining that was still very welcoming and cozy. Loved the vibe and decor of the restaurant. For food, we ordered the beef carpaccio, Hokkaido scallops, local lettuce, cavatelli, tagliatelle, and Rohan duck breast. All of the ingredients were fresh. Surprising standouts for us were the scallops and cavatelli. The scallops was bright, refreshing, and absolutely delicious with a lot of layers of flavors. Cavatelli was an interesting pasta dish that grew on us and became a favorite. Both dishes were packed with flavor. We finished off dinner with arroz con leche. Loved the amount of spice in it. The Hamachi Crudo was super fresh and had this crunchy topping that added the perfect texture. The heirloom tomatoes were honestly the sleeper pick. The black garlic molasses and Pedro Ximénez had this acidity that reminded me of a balsamic vinaigrette, and when paired with the whipped fromage blanc, it created this perfect explosion of flavor in your mouth. The crispy garlic on top added just the right amount of texture. The duck breast was beautifully cooked with crispy skin, and the scallops were good, though I probably would've preferred a different base underneath. The agnolotti was rich and satisfying. The corn broth gave it a slightly sweet twist that really brought out the blue crab flavor in the filling. The chocolate pot de crème was the perfect finish. And I have to talk about the Secretly Stern drink. I love espresso martinis and this one is hands down my favorite in the whole city. The sea salt cream on top is to die for. No other place does it like this!!! When I came back again, the following week two new dishes that I ordered was the flan and Amy and Joe's potatoes. Again, I thought the potatoes were going to be just okayy considering it was just potatoes and we were ordering a ton of other great dishes, but they were honestly amazing too!!! The flan was really good however, it was a little too rich and thick for me. My preference is a flan that is a little lighter and not as heavy. Service: 4.9/5 - Our server was fantastic. They knew the menu really well, answered all our questions, and gave great recommendations. Vibe: 4.8/5 - Perfect for a date night. The ambiance was really nice and welcoming. Cozy but elevated. I came here on a Saturday night just as they opened. They do have parking adjacent to the restaurant which I appreciated. I was able to snag a seat at the bar, but noticed that most people who were in parties of two or more needed reservations so you may want to make a reservation before you come in. I ordered the scallops which were amazing and then finished the miso corn cake. The miso corn cake was yummy with fresh strawberry ice cream, and a strawberry caramel sauce on top. Overall, great place!
Was traveling on business and a coworker recommended this place. Just a short drive from uptown and in a nice location with additional places to check out right next door. Our table was ready when we arrived and it was very close to the door (the only downside to this experience) as it was cool when the door opened for patrons. Our server Blair was delightful and patient as we waited for our final member to join us. She was helpful answering questions and frequently checked in. The restaurant is homey and comfortable with some local art on the walls. It is a popular spot and stayed busy throughout our stay. The food was quite nice spanning from shared plates to main courses. We tried several small plates but the sunchokes were a standout. Definitely try them. I had the sea bass which was surrounded by mussels, kale, broth, and spigarello. My friend had the duck which she really enjoyed. It's a fun spot that takes reservations on Open Table so definitely give it a try.

Had a really great dinner at Customshop. Every dish was memorable and felt really balanced without trying too hard. The hamachi crudo, local lettuce salad (I could go back just for this), mushroom bucatini, and scallops were all excellent. The bucatini with chile crisp crema and pork candy was probably the standout dish of the night. (More like Ramen meets the best of pasta! ) Dessert was incredible too -- flan with cortado whip, and chocolate crumble. Wine list 10/10 Also got to meet the chef and the service all night was excellent. Definitely one of the best meals we've had in Charlotte. read more
I'll be honest, Customshop wasn't on my radar until I had a Chase sapphire restaurant credit to use up by the end of June and found them on OpenTable. I'm so glad that it brought me here! I made rezzies for 7:30pm, but we made good time with our flight and I was able to change my reservation last minute to 6pm at the bar. We started off with the Limonada suica and silly rabbit. We really enjoyed the Limonada suica: it was like a fizzy pina colada. The silly rabbit was nice and light, but I thought the strawberry was a bit too subtle. For apps, we shared the Hamachi crudo, Wagyu carpaccio and octopus: all excellent! We loved the Parmesan leche de Tigre sauce so much, we were scooping up the remainder and eating it straight up. Fresh and flavorful! The pastas, made in house, definitely caught our attention. We got the canestri, which was nice and meaty, but I wouldn't have known it was lamb if it wasn't written on the menu. The duck breast was phenomenal! Cooked a perfect medium rare, and very rich so it was the perfect amount to share amongst us two. Pricy at $60, but worth it. We loved how every dish had many different textural components, specifically the different crunchy toppings. Zoe was our bartender/server and she took great care of us. Nice and charming restaurant. Service was great and the food was flavorful and cocktails were really good. My wife and I had a nice dinner. I liked the combination of flavors in the dishes and how they were paired. I will definitely come back. read more

Customshop is that neighborhood spot where you sit down and think, "Okay, Charlotte's not playing around." It feels fancy, but not in a stuffy way. More like the kind of place where your entrée might be prettier than you, but you're cool with it. Chef Andres Kaifer is clearly in his element here, turning out dishes that are creative, balanced, and quietly flexing. The Hamachi Crudo, which came floating in a parmesan leche de tigre. Yes, parmesan. Yes, leche de tigre. Sounds chaotic but it works. The fish was clean and fresh, not even a little fishy, and the crispy corn added just enough crunch. My only note? Slice that fish a touch thinner and we're in full five-star mode. The empanadas, looking like they just walked off a Food Network runway. The crust was golden and crispy, like it trained its whole life for that exact texture. Inside? Mojo pork with a kick from aji amarillo, topped with a snowy layer of queso fresco and a little espelette for flair. It was the kind of dish you agree to share, but secretly hope everyone forgets about after the first bite. The fingerling potatoes, which honestly deserve their own PR campaign. Golden brown, aggressively seasoned, and sitting in a creamy huancaina sauce with a slow-burn heat. They tasted like what gas station potato wedges dream of becoming when they grow up. I ordered the Rohan Duck Breast, and it showed up looking like it pays its taxes early. Perfect medium rare, laid across smooth sweet potato purée, and then boom, a duck confit pastelito just chilling on the side. The pastelito was crispy, stuffed, and could have easily been its own dish. Our server poured guava demi on the plate, which felt dramatic in the best way. My only complaint is that I wanted the duck skin crispier. Like, potato chip crispy. One of my friends got the sea scallops, and I swear Chef Andres should teach a masterclass on how to sear scallops like that. Golden crust, tender inside, no rubbery nonsense. The broth it sat in had layers. Oniony, rich, with Carolina Gold rice grits and red peas swimming around like they belonged there. Cozy, flavorful, and somehow still light. Another friend went with the dry-aged strip, cooked medium rare. It came with buttery Yukon Gold mash, grilled onions, and a salsa roja that slapped just enough. Everything on the plate made sense. No filler, no fluff. The flan. This is not just dessert. This is the best dessert I've eaten all year. Creamy, smooth, and sitting in a pool of dark, glossy caramel. The cortadito whipped cream on top, the crumble, the chocolate thyme...Chef Andres learned the recipe from his mom, someone better get her a James Beard Award. I will always order this. Every single time. Only downside? The service felt a little thin. Our server was friendly, but it seemed like they were covering too many tables. Not a dealbreaker, just something we noticed. The cocktail menu was a hit with my friends. I stuck with my usual Diet Coke with grenadine, which, let's be honest, pairs perfectly with duck and flan. Customshop was delicious! Our server was super helpful and polite throughout our entire experience and recommended great dishes. We got Burrata, 3 different pastas, and dessert. All were very good. I will say portions were small, and lighting in the restaurant was dim, but other than that it was great! read more
This is a sexy grown up wine bar in Elizabeth. Which I'm living for. Low lights, candles, dark moody wall paper. The service is impeccable. The menu was presented elegantly with knowledgeable and personal recommendations for both drinks and food. All moderately priced and mind blowing. Seriously if you're getting a $16 cocktail anywhere in CLT you need to get it here. I arrived later in the evening. This places saved my birthday dinner. The food had southern charm but with echelon. And it was delightful. Interesting flavor profile married well. Our stars of the night were the espresso martini and ravioli. Get yourself here for your next date night. And Fast! read more

First time here, and love the decoration. It's a pretty small spot but I feel like they have plenty of seating. The service was good although the server didn't seem to hear us good. Server was nice. Could have been more attentive. The food was yummy. The drink was so good. I wished they would have fill it to the rim. Pretty pricey for drinks that aren't fill to the rim. I got the saffron bucatini- it was shrimp and beef pasta. So yummy. Very flavorful. My friend got the scallops and she loves it. The tomatoe salad was also very yummy. Nothing bad to say except little things here and there. And they do share parking but I did not park so I don't remember if it's free parking. read more
My husband and I returned to Customshop after reading that they are now one of the top restaurants in CLT. Our tastes have changed over the years and we now prefer smaller plates, which Customshop excels in. We started with two cocktails--the Sexy Red and Mary's Garden Fuel. The menu doesn't state this, but the Sexy Red is topped with an egg white foam. If you're allergic to eggs, be aware! I liked the flavors of the drink and appreciated that it wasn't too sweet, but the smell of the egg whites was a bit off-putting. My husband loved his Mary's Garden Fuel. They give you a small plate of their house made focaccia to start, served on top of salted olive oil. I thought it was one of the better breads we've been served at a restaurant! For our appetizer, we had the tuna crudo. It's a small portion, but was full of flavor. Since we visited in the summer with strawberries in season, ours had a strawberry ponzu sauce and finely chopped strawberries and cucumbers, with (I believe) their version of fried onions. It was delicious! For our entrees, I had the blue crab ravioli and my husband had the duck breast. While I'm not a fan of peas, the creamy puréed pea sauce was really good. The raviolis were a bit thin, but tasty regardless. I loved the crispy crumb topping. I couldn't eat the entire plate, so my husband happy ate the rest. My husband's duck breast was cooked medium-rare. He loved the flavor, and the butternut squash purée added a unique flavor. The duck sausage was also good. Overall, we were very pleased with the food and service. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We'll definitely return! read more

Awesome experience! Always heard great things about the food and service and they didn't disappoint. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine. We ordered the Burrata which was excellent, hamachi crudo super fresh but small and local lettuce which was surprisingly flavorful as our apps. For dinner the duck, scallops and crab agnolotti all deliciousness. Plates are a bit on the smaller side for portions but packed with flavor. The flan should not be missed - old family recipe and one of the best! The menu changes often. Can't wait to go back and try different things. read more
City vibe, casual yet upscale, unique menu. Made reservations on a Thurs night for my bride's birthday. It was a packed house. The dining room acoustics made for a louder than average dining room setting (we actually thought about leaving). Local IPA options were narrow (one)....more of a wine selection. We started with Beets ($15) appetizer and it was a great light option to get started. My bride ordered the Blue Crab Ravioli ($28) and she said it was hard to find/see actual crab. I went with the Ricotta Cavatelli ($28) and it seemed to be lacking flavor. Service was great. From my persective, the food experience didn't equate to the price. read more

Another awesome experience here! The food is unpretentious, approachable and damn good. I would eat my exact meal every week.... Tuna crudo, blue crab butternut squash ravioli, and spiced cake with ice cream that I never wanted to end. Service is excellent. Ambiance is small, northeast cozy neighborhood restaurant. We came here for dinner & made a res ahead of time. The place was quite packed but we were quickly seated. The blue crab ravioli and the beef carpaccio was phenomenal and I highly recommend it. If i came back it would be for those two especially the ravioli. It looks a lil sus but TRUST ME it is so delicious and bursting with flavor. We tried two other pastas. One was the saffron canestri and the other was ricotta cavatelli, but they both were unimpressive in my opinion. Then I had heard good things about the rohan duck and was really excited to try it but ours was quite chewy and the sauce just tasted like bbq sauce. It lacked lots of depth. We also tried the hamaci crudo which was kind of fishy in my opinion but our boyfriend's parents enjoyed it. Last we had ordered the halibut and the fish was just dry and kind of small portion wise. The server also kept changing our plates out several times and it kind of got in the way of conversation and seemed quite excessive and unnecessary. I expected more out of such a pricey place and was sad to find it didn't meet expectations. read more

My mother, sister, and I dined here for my birthday dinner and were very pleased with our experience. I made a reservation via OpenTable, which I would highly recommend! The location is very nice and in a decent area. There is a free parking lot across the street, which is convenient! The interior has a rustic flair to it and the atmosphere is intimate. The service was good and quite attentive. They made sure our waters were filled, explained the flavors menu to us, and were very kind. To start, we ordered the empanadas and they offered complimentary focaccia in olive oil. The focaccia was light, with a saltiness to it. The empanadas were excellent! There were three empanadas and they included Mojo pork, aji panca, queso fresco, and espelette. The shell of the empanada was light, with a pastry crust quality to it. They had ample amounts of pork and the sauce complimented the smokiness of the pork. For our entrees we opted for the Canestri and the Sea Scallops. The canestri included Prosciutto cotto, Manchego cream, truffle butter, agrodolce, soft poached egg, gremolata. And let me just say this dish was divine! The manchego cream was very rich, the prosciutto cotto was plentiful, and the truffle butter tied all the wonderful flavors together. The sea scallops were excellent as well. Served with Carolina gold rice middlins, saffron, zephyr squash, and zucchini. The saffron gold rice had a nice texture to it and wasn't overpowering. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the zucchini and squash were subtle but, complimented the other flavors nicely. To finish the meal, we ordered the chocolate cake which included Strawberry ice cream, strawberry shortcake crumble, and a magic shell. We loved this dessert! The chocolate cake wasn't too heavy or rich, the homemade strawberry ice cream was so fresh, and the molten shell was the perfect touch! Overall, we had a very nice meal at Cuatomshop. The ambiance is really nice, the service is attentive, the food is of great quality, and the flavors are unique. Everything we ordered we were impressed with. The portion sizes were perfect as well. Cute restaurant in the heart of Elizabeth, great for date night or a night out. Definitely make a reservation as it's on the smaller side. Food: recommend the ricotta cavatelli for pasta, burrata for appetizer (so fresh), and flan for dessert. The flan was amazing - my favorite part. I'm a huge fan of CustomShop and it's one of my go to places to go with friends. It has a quality menu with a variety of different items. To start I usually split the Burrata (Apple butter, escarole, pistachios, grilled focaccia) and it's the perfect portion for two people. It's also the perfect mix of cheesy and bread with an added crunch from the pistachios. For my main I am a huge fan of the roasted duck (Sunchoke puree, sour cherry demi, walnut crumble) and feel the sauce is the perfect companion piece along with the cherry and walnut. I also don't normally like cherries but it works in this meal. This time I also ordered the Broccolini (Parmesan, chili oil, gremolata) without the chili oil and was pleasantly surprised on how big the portions were! Definitely worth the $10, especially since I'm a big fan of to go. Overall, the service is usually pretty good here and the ambiance is perfect for either close friends or a date. I also like how I'm not constantly interrupted by the waiter/waitress throughout the meal. Allergy note: I have a severe peanut & crustacean allergy and as of Jan 2024, they were able to handle my allergies and I had no issues. Although I always recommend doing your own due diligence as it relates to allergies as each individual and situation is different. read more
