I would like to give this place 2 1/2 stars so I am unfortunately rounding down. I came here on a Saturday at 7 PM with a couple friends for dinner. We made a reservation, but it did not appear to be necessary because the place was only half full. We sat at a four top on the covered patio area and placed a couple orders for drinks and appetizers. I had a strawberry mocktail that was actually decent and served in a cup glass, which elevated the experience and presentation. my friend ordered the polar express which looked like a espresso martini, but apparently was not one. We started with fried zucchini bites and chicken nuggets. Our reservation was for 7 PM, but we did not receive our drinks until at least 730 and our first appetizer did not appear until after 8 PM. We then placed our order for the main entrée. I got the quarter south with the kale quinoa, side salad and my friends got a couple sandwiches. The food arrived around 8:30 PM by which point we were all very hungry. One of my friends had to ask for the side of honey mustard multiple times before we finally got an extra dipping sauce as far as flavor goes the nuggets and zucchini fries were OK at best not bad but definitely nothing to write home about and they took forever to come out. I liked my quarter south enough, the leg and the thigh but the kale quinoa salad was just too bland it was dressed, but definitely not enough or they just need a better dressing something with more flavor and zing. We didn't even bother asking for a dessert menu because we did not want to be held hostage any longer. Price wise it was pretty on point with other restaurants in the area, but overall this place was just very slow and did not live up to expectations as one of my friends had been here a while back and was actually a regular I think. Because the service was so slow I got my ticket validated, but it exceeded the two hours so I still had to pay for parking which was a little bit annoying considering I waited over an hour for appetizers. Stumbled upon Leroy Fox while walking through South End and honestly couldn't have made a better random stop. The $15 beer bucket is an absolute steal, and pairing that with $1.25 wings? Hard to beat for the area. The ambiance is great -- exactly the kind of spot you want to catch an NFL game with a group. Our server was friendly and attentive, which always makes a difference. The wings were solid -- we went with the deep fried and grilled option, which came out well. My only note would be that I'd love to see a strictly grilled wing option on the menu for those who prefer it. A small ask, but it would make this place even more of a go-to. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, and those came out in a reasonable time. However, things completely changed after that. Once we finished our appetizer and drinks, we had to wait for the waitress to return so we could place our entrée order. After ordering, we waited about 30 minutes for our food--while a couple who came in about 20 minutes after us received their entrées before we did. To make matters worse, we had paid for parking (about 1 hour and 30 minutes) expecting a quick visit since it was a slow Monday. Instead, we ended up using the entire time just waiting. Our meals were simple--wings with mac and cheese, and a Carolina dip sandwich--so it was confusing why it took so long. During the wait, there was no real check-in from our server. We were told once that our food would be "out shortly," but that was about 10 minutes in... and we still waited another 20 minutes after that. Customer service really dropped off. * No apology for the delay * No check-ins * No offer for refills * No "Is everything okay?" after the food arrived * No offer for a to-go bag I understand they were training a new employee, but once the trainer stepped away, the main server should have been more attentive. Bartender was super attentive and easy going. It's a nice, laid back spot which at the end of a hectic week is awesome. I went with the Prohibited Burger with no lettuce and it was so good! Paired it with the cajun fries as well. The burger was perfectly cooked and did not slide off the bun which is always a plus. Fries were perfect also. My friend got the mac and cheese which was so so good. Cannot wait to go back. One note, it is in South End so parking can be tricky if you're hoping for street parking. The restaurant was pretty empty--only a few tables--so we expected quick, attentive service. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Our food took a long time to come out, and there was a new server in training. We're not 100% sure what happened, but it seemed like our order may have been put in late. To make it worse, another table that came in about 25-30 minutes after us received their entrée before we did--even though we ordered first. Our office walked over to Leroy Fox this week for lunch. We had a group of 12 of us. The table was ready when we arrived, as I called to let them know we'd be coming. The service was outstanding from start to finish - the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. For larger groups, this was definitely noticeable. The highlight for me was definitely the Zucchini Fries and the Honey Buffalo Wrap - both were absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and the right amount of heat. Nothing to rave about. Came here on a Saturday night and was able to grab a table immediately. I usually order wine but since their drink names were catchy, I wanted to try one. After getting recommendations from our host, I ordered the Perry Styles. It's pear vodka with prosecco and pear simple syrup. They make their own simple syrup! I thought that was pretty cool. However half the glass was filled with ice and I could hardly tell there was alcohol in it. Tasted more like a juice. Came in a tall glass. I think it should be in a short glass. Cool concept but not worth reordering. My entree was the chicken grill with honey glaze, ceasar salad and mac n cheese. Let's start with the chicken. The host asked "how do you want your chicken" since it comes with 3 options 1. honey glazed 2. blackened 3. citrus olive oil.... when it arrived I noticed it was blackened and not honey glaze. The host said it was her mistake, which makes sense considering she didn't write down our order. Instead of asking for it to be remade, I just asked for the honey glaze on the side. The ceasar salad was ok, romane lettuce, croutons and bottled dressing. The mac n cheese was interesting. Before ordering I asked the host if their mac has real cheese and not creamy soup based mac. She said it's on top. Since they use the spiral noodles I figured I'd try it. Yup, it is creamy soup based on the inside and melted real cheese on top. I'm not a fan of soup mac n cheese. It's a miss for me. My friend ordered the blackened salmon with mac n cheese and brussel sprouts. She agreed on the mac. Her blackened salmon skin was burnt. The guy came out and said that's how they make it blackened. Last time I checked, blackened anything is the flavor. It was evident either the burner was too high or the salmon has been cooking too long. Blackened does not equal burnt. Her mocktail also contained the same amount of ice as my drink. And the lemonade is Minute Maid. Price was cool, a little under $40 for each with taxes and stuff. Staff tried their best but there could definitely be some improvements. Leroy Fox sounds like a cool character in a movie or video game rather than a restaurant in Charlotte, NC. It was within walking distance of our hotel which is a plus and there were a number of other things around it and it seemed like a trendy area. One thing that drives me nuts is chairs with no backs. The last thing I want to do for a long corporate dinner (or hanging with friends) is balance myself on a stool. Put a back on the chair, please! Service was OK. We were all crammed in a high top table with some people sitting on the corners (we had a reservation and that's what they gave us). With that, prompt clearing of plates would have been nice. It wasn't super crowded either. We had a number of appetizers for the table and they were all pretty good. The buffalo cauliflower was really good and we ended up getting more! Yum! Cocktails were pretty good too. Nothing out of this world spectacular, but their version of an Old Fashioned was good, and so was the mezcal drink. The fried chicken seemed to be the "star" on the menu, so I ordered that and it was pretty great. The seasoning and crunch were awesome. Some people ordered the chicken fried chicken and weren't fans of that, so if you're torn, go with the fried chicken. Good place to grab brunch! A friend and I went here on a Sunday early-afternoon (around 1PM) for brunch. It was a Panthers home game day, but when we arrived there wasn't a wait luckily. I don't live in Charlotte, but my friend who does said that it's usually packed so we definitely lucked out. There's street parking, parking decks, and parking lots all around so there are plenty of parking options, but they do not have their own adjacent private parking lot. The restaurant has a plenty of space inside with a full bar and plenty of tables. They also have an outdoor patio. We were greeted quickly and ordered mimosas. Then we ordered our meals. I ordered the wings with Barbalo sauce and a side salad. I wasn't sure what Barbalo sauce was, but the server explained that it was a blend of barbecue and buffalo sauce, a signature recipe of Leroy Fox. It was delicious! Not too sweet, but not too spicy. It was more of a tangy sauce, but not overwhelming. I also appreciated that the sauce wasn't slathered all over the wings, just enough. My friend ordered the Salmon entree with Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese. Our server recommended the mac & cheese. I tasted a bite of my friend's and it was very good! Although we went for brunch, neither one of use really ordered a "brunch" item so I definitely would like to return when I'm more in a brunch-food mood. So happy our original reservations for brunch fell through and my girlfriends and I ended up at Leroy Fox. We called ahead of time to see if there was a wait for us, (group of four) they said no come on by and they were empty on a Sunday morning! I was a little hesitant on seeing this, but my friend assured me that the food was well worth it. From the moment we walked in and left the service was impeccable. What I did find strange was they don't have a specialty coffee menu, so no flavors, lattes and such. But that was ok we got basic brunch beverages of mimosas and espresso martinis. The food was incredible. Everything tasted fresh, cooked to the right temperature and so flavorful. I am still salivating at the thought of the pimento cheese spread on my chicken biscuit sandwich. This is a 10/10 stop. Everything has that slow cooked quality. The blacked chicken had the perfect char but was extremely tender and juicy. The zucchini fries had the best batter I've had in my life and they were meaty slices which made them a really filling and delicious app. You have to have the bang bang sauce! Our waitress was a quintessential blonde sweetheart who reminded me so much of Georgia from the Netflix show Ginny and Georgia. She was patient and read the room so well. I finished my entire plate here. I miss quality Southern food and this is one of the better spots I've been to without having to go so far South to find it. The main room was a bit loud, but the "outdoor" space is much quieter and cozy. The music ranged from Tupac to 90s house. The football game was on with a projector and a large tv in this outdoor space, which kept this vibe somewhere between an upscale college bar and a homey Southern fried chicken joint. Ended up here for my impromptu birthday dinner and I'm glad we came in. They weren't too busy on Memorial Day which was great. Our server was nice and attentive. I ordered the chicken grill with Mac and cheese and seasoned fries for my sides. When the food came out everything was piping hot and super fresh. Great brunch! We came in on a Sunday around noon and got seated right away. The waitress came around often to refill our drinks and check on us. I got the chicken biscuit (with the egg on the side). It comes with pimento cheese on top. The fried chicken is really good. It was around $16. I chose the hash brown casserole as my side, but it was hard to choose because all of the sides sound delicious. The casserole was amazing. Really cheesy. Great ambiance for brunch! Has a really cute patio, but it was full so we sat inside. There were lots of TVs around. Better late than never... I finally tried this Charlotte staple, and I am please to say it lived up to the hype! Located in the heart of Southend, this place lives off southern comfort food and it excels at it. I tried the 1/4 North fried chicken with brussel sprouts and it was incredible. The chicken has loads of flavor without being salty, and the crunch when you take your first, second and third bite is absolutely perfect. There isn't a heaviness or greasy texture to be found. I liked the brussle sprouts but didn't love them, they tasted like the ones I make in a rush for meal prep. The ambiance was excellent, there is a large dining area with a decent sized bar surrounded by tv's on every side. The patio is also spacious and make for great people watching on the rail trail. Lastly the customer service was wonderful. Our server was attentive and informative of the menu when I told her it was my first time. Pro tip: Try the banana pudding, while it's not my favorite in Charlotte at only 6.00 for a large mason jar full...why not?! read more

Food: hit or miss... - I got the 1/4 south (fried chicken with jalapeño cornbread and a side of cinnamon tots). The chicken was awesome. The cornbread was cold but good flavor. And the tots were not my cup of tea (very sweet), but others liked them - my friends got the chicken and waffles and said it was mediocre, and 2 others ordered the chicken benedict and the chicken biscuit.
