Stayed 5 nights and after the first experience at this restaurant we decided- we have to come back! Every meal was top tier. My favorite was the Pan Seared Salmon but the Braised short rib was a close contender. If the crab cheddar biscuits are available.. it's a MUST! Drinks are a great balance of flavor to alcohol and every waiter was attentive and kind. The bartender remembered us and had great conversation. The ambiance is about what you expect for a hotel restaurant, clean and no theme. If we stay in lovely Charlotte again, we will be coming back. read more

I stayed at the Hilton Uptown for 3 nights, where this restaurant is located. I ate multiple meals here and everything was excellent. I tried the mushroom and swiss burger, chicken sandwich, and short rib quesadilla-all were top notch. Breakfast buffet has a nice selection of fresh fruits, made to order omelettes, waffles, bacon.... The staff were super nice and friendly. Lots of tvs. Really positive experiences. Popped in for a quick lunch during a conference, my friend and I both got salads. I was a little disappointed by the slow service, server did not provide water until salads were brought out, about 15 minutes after ordering. A fairly good experience. My eating companion really enjoyed her salmon plate. Although she was hoping based on the title of the restaurant it would have more fish options. My gnocchi was, so so, it was very flavorful and my first time trying gnocchi. This is located in a hotel. Although many restaurants in this area are. The prices were fair about $35 per person with water to drink. The ambiance was nice. It felt safe. Side note, the bathrooms require a key. The servers were competent without being pushy or hovering. The main restaurant for the Hilton Uptown, it is located on the ground floor in a large atrium. Service was a bit slow to start but picked up as our meal progressed. My wife enjoyed her pork chop, which was plated nicely with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. I just had chicken wings that were meaty and cooked properly though the "Buffalo" didn't have too much heat to them. And yes, Ken's makes a nice bleu cheese dressing but putting containers of it on the plate don't add to the presentation. Overall, a "good" experience and about what I expected from a hotel restaurant. If it hadn't been pouring down with rain, we would likely have gone elsewhere. Didn't try the food. Drinks at the bar only. Bar wise, it was good. Decent selection of drafts and a full bar with cocktail menu. Bartender was very attentive. Location wise it is right in the bowels of the Hilton Hotel, in a corridor connecting other buildings and businesses. This would not be in my top 10 places in Uptown to get a drink. The Coastal Kitchen and Bar has a great buffet with excellent food and a reasonably priced buffet. Chef Gregory really stood out in the experience, keeping the food fully stocked but more importantly, the omelets made to order. I had an incredible omelette of mushrooms and onions topped at the very end with cheddar cheese melted to perfection. The only thing I can mark the servers off with was providing refills for coffee. Once I signed my room number to the bill, it was like I no longer existed. Overall, a good experience though. read more

At a recent stay in Charlotte's Hilton Uptown, I had opportunity to try the breakfast buffet at their in-house restaurant: Costal Kitchen & Bar. The offerings were varied and served from well attended chaffing dishes. Offerings ranged from fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, grits, Danish, muffins among others. The star of the show however was an omelette station making to-order items with a good list of options. So this spot has solid food for a hotel restaurant. I was in Charlotte for work, and my coworker was hosting an event in the hotel. We popped in here for lunch on event day and it was great. First of all - we got deviled eggs. Ok, these are not your mom's deviled eggs. They come deep fried with some sort of aioli on top and bacon crumbles. YUM. I opted for the burger. It was tasty and cooked to my liking. Sometimes, hotel restaurants get a bad rap for being overpriced - but I found our lunch to be tasty, affordable with great service to top it all off. Would definitely recommend, especially if you're staying at the Hilton. +10 for Coastal, because their tables had both plugs to charge laptops and USB ports, making this the perfect working lunch. read more

Came here for lunch one weekday and we actually got here a little bit before noon, which is a good thing before the lunch crowd came. Our server was a little off - gave us breakfast menus instead of lunch, but still very friendly. She suggested us to have the fried cauliflower as it was a special. It was really good, so they should keep it on the menu! For my meal, I wanted the brisket flatbread. Our server told me they were out. As there is pimento cheese on there, I decided instead, well let me have just the pimento cheese if that is available. She decided to check in with the kitchen. She came back and said good news, they had enough for one of the flat bread. I of course ordered that, but I'm not sure how you do or don't have enough for a menu item at the beginning of the day??? The flatbread, while it is messy with the toppings, had great flavor! I really enjoyed it! I would get that again. It was plenty for me and had some leftover for two more meals. I think if this restaurant, being uptown and having a nicer feel to it, got their act together on service and availability, I would bump them up one more star. I also asked for bacon, which came perfectly crispy. I loved how the burger was cooked. The Hilton definitely did NOT phone it in with this one. The menu is creative, but comfortable. Came here for the first time as this was my first visit to this hotel. I came in a little after 9pm and there was only about six people in the restaurant. I was greeted fairly quickly and they took my drink order right away. For my meal I went with the ribeye and I had a glass of Cabernet to go with it. The mashed potatoes had little to no flavor. They were cooked well and homemade, but lacked flavor. The asparagus was well cooked and tasted pretty good. The steak was average, the meat was cooked as I requested. I did feel that the meat was rather thin, for the price, I expected more. The seasoning on the steak was rather light. So the food wasn't bad, it was just so so. It was legit unreal, best club I've had in 8.6 years, which is huge on the Richter scale. W/ the club you get a side, Sweet potatoes fried, Just like the dude, You should abide. Almaz was an incredible server, went above and beyond to locate a beverage i wanted and was not available at the restaurant, she was able to locate somewhere within the property and surprised me with it. Clearly her goal is serve as beat as possible and please her customers. Food was very delicious. Spoke with manager Clem about Almaz and what she did for us. the seating is very minimal here, the food was okay but the portions were pretty small. the waiter was good but i wouldn't go unless your staying at the hotel. the bathrooms require you to use a room key, so if your just there for just the restaurant your outta luck. the menu is pretty sparse as well. read more

This review is only about lunch buffet. If I don't know where for lunch, I always come here. Salad and soup buffet $8.61. With nice chicken noodle soup and various dessert. The chicken noodle soup is the best in town!! (Though in some days it's a little bit salty) but think about price, what u can complain. Ymca easily 10 dollar lunch salad. Panera bread pick 2 is $10 as well. For dessert, tres leches, if available take it. Best among all restaurants in town. Tiramisu is great, you should try. Cheese cake is above average. That's it, I can't handle it anymore, I'm updating my review because I can no longer recommend this restaurant - it is SO cold in this restaurant every time I visit I can't take it anymore. I am wearing long johns (seriously), a battery heated vest and a winter jacket over that. And I'm still shaking. Management says it's the building and nothing can be done. Something can ALWAYS be done if the right person is in charge. Rant over. I've eaten here many times and always order the buffet. Because of that, I think its best trait is the variety and quality of food, with a different theme each day. It's also cost effective and the staff is friendly. Cons/suggestions for improvement - would like each day to have a new unusual salad dressing to try outside of the normal boring three provided. Sometimes this happens, but not often. Next, there are two bowls of lettuce... can we have two different types of lettuce rather than the same one in each? Lastly - the soups... I appreciate that one is usually unique and changes day to day, but why does the second soup have to be boring chicken noodle everyday? Only other comment - this restaurant resides in Antarctica, especially in the summer. Bring a sweater, or better yet, a winter jacket! read more

Listen to these reviews. We went to this restaurant because of the convenience. We were staying at the Hilton. One of us ordered a cheeseburger, the other a salad and salmon . Salmon came with a lemon butter and I requested for it to be on the side. When my salad finally came out, I kept picking out this black soggy wet lettuce. I decided not to eat it because I was afraid to get sick. When the waitress showed up to ask how everything was I told her about the salad and I even showed her the black soggy lettuce I had pulled out. Her comment to me was " well it's mixed greens", to which I replied "no it's black greens". So she remove the salad and took it off the bill. OK fine, but then my salmon came out and the vegetables underneath it were a literally SOAKING in what appeared to be olive oil. I tried pulling them out of the oil and draining them enough to eat them but they were just disgusting. The piece of salmon was good however when the hamburger came out it came out with no condiments. We asked a few times for the condiments and after about 25 minutes the waitress came over with a small plate of to go packets threw them on the table and walked away. needles to say the food and service are awful and this place is not only overpriced but also gross. Ps watch out for drinks. They charged us $22 each for a vodka soda. read more
