Coming back here was like saying hi to an old friend I haven't seen in years. When I used to spend more time Uptown years ago The Daily was one of my favorite places to come in for a bite or a drink. It has a cozy neighborhood tavern vibe that feels welcoming. I was saddened to see them close down during the Covid pandemic, and was very happy to see them come back! Unfortunately my office isn't as close by and I don't find myself Uptown as often anymore so it's taken me a while to come visit. I got to finally rectify that after a Hornets game found me close by and in need of a beverage. It was just how I remembered it. The bartenders were friendly, there was a mix of local regulars and some curious out-of-towners. The vibes were great and so was the Guinness. Whether you live or work Uptown and are in need of a new regular watering hole, or you find yourself massing through, The Daily is a great place to take a load off and enjoy some hearty food and strong drinks.

Very busy and noisy place on a Thursday afternoon. Server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the shrimp taco and it was blackened just right. Packed with flavor. Waffle fries were plentiful and hot. Bar area and most customers were in groups and drinking.

I sat at the bar & I was served by "Bryan" who was very patient with my indecisive beer/cider questions & selections. He allowed me sample sips to figure out the one I liked. I settled on their house cider. I ordered the nacho fries & buffalo wings. Wish the wings were fried a little harder (but I can admit that I didn't request that). I love they have waffle fries which makes them a bit more unique from other bar fries I've had. The food came out rather quick & hot! Very happy about that. Very affordable. Nice place to check out in uptown Charlotte.

Went here late night to get some food and despite them being busy the food was amazing and it was quick. I had their white bean and quinoa burger with mozzarella sticks and my friend got their chicken sandwich. The food and my espresso martini were great, it hit the spot after a long day and I'll definitely be back!

This was my first time here . It's in a centralized location, parking is street parking or garage . The restaurant itself is inviting and it feels like a small town bar. I loved the service I received from the bartender. She recommended great options based on our preferences. They have a live band that was there Tuesday night . I ordered the chicken and steak tacos and a side of waffle fries . It was surprisingly delicious! Not to mention the tacos were loaded with meat. Pricing was pretty decent for it to be in uptown . I will definitely be back !

Food and service was equally amazing. I can't stay away from the shrimp and grits. Their burger is amazing too. The nacho fries (waffle fries) are to die for.

    Pretzel bites

I'm not sure how this place has a 4.5 star on Google. 10/10 do not recommend. I ordered the three steak tacos and they were so salty I couldn't eat them. My wife ordered the steak and fry's and she asked for medium and got super raw steak that smelt weird. Pretzel bites were ok. Told our waiter and was just told sorry and they took the plates and never replaced the food. We had water to drink and our food was almost 70 bucks before tip. We aren't from Charlotte and are just visiting so it's a bummer.

One was a small side Caesar salad which I got. I was disappointed in the continuing practice for restaurants to charge for small changes like this within informing the customer. Waitress was very nice, however and attentive. What is also quite unique about the restaurant was that you could order small 4 oz beers, just for tasting at $2-3 each. The place is quite large and must get incredibly noisy at times with the hard surfaces and multiple TVs. There is an option to sit directly at the bar or at tables.

If you are looking for recommendations, I highly suggest trying: The Meatballs: A fantastic twist on a classic, served in a delicious lemon dill sauce instead of a typical marinara. The Sliders: Perfect pulled pork paired with fried green tomatoes and a tangy horseradish sauce. They also feature a highly creative and unique cocktail menu. Two of my personal standouts are the Beetle Juice, which incorporates fresh beet juice, and The Fishbone, which brilliantly highlights their house-made aquavit. Overall, it's a wonderful spot for a great atmosphere and an inventive menu!

Then I applied for Charlotte Idol - my friend did it last season and all my friends were telling me to do it because I also sing. I've been paid for college shows and done plenty of performances - so not to toot my own horn but I know I can sing. They emailed me AGAIN for this event saying I was perfect and to send a photo and snippet of me singing and then they would email me next steps aka what date I would be. You guessed it I sent my photo and video and then crickets... ghosted AGAIN. This time I said enough and I replied to them via email after a few days and again NOTHING. Super humiliating and unprofessional to continually reach out to someone, get them excited, I told ALL OF MY FRIENDS, and then you don't give me dates. It's embarrassing I hate to admit but I want other people to know what I've experienced so the same disappointment doesn't happen to them. Luckily I have the best friends in the world and we all will be boycotting Open Tap after being frequent attendees especially for their events!

That was just half a day in, so naturally, I started feeling like Charlotte had passed me a note, "I like you, stay longer." The one thing I failed to respect was the Carolina summer sun. I desperately needed a hat. Sure, I could have gone to Target or the bike shop I passed earlier, but any civilized man knows the best place to buy a cap is a brewery. Untappd pointed me toward one of the most popular breweries in a city full of popular breweries: Burial Beer Co. Since I was driving, I kept things responsible and sampled taster-sized pours, spacing them out with non-alcoholic mocktails and 0.0 beer like a grown man who still wanted to remember where he parked. Burial also offers cocktails, ICEEs, low-ABV session beers, THC beverages, wine, and self-serve water. The menu helps you navigate the offerings with color-coded sections: cocktails in blue, light-bodied beers in neon green, dark ales in orange, and high-ABV options in pink. Food isn't available onsite, but delivery gets the green light. I grabbed a corner seat at the bar, not because I wanted to brood, but because the post-brunch crowd had arrived in full force with babies, buddies, and dogs. Every bartender and guest I spoke with treated me like I had wandered into a neighborhood clubhouse instead of a brewery. They gave recommendations, bought me a drink, and one even helped me pick out a hat. Southern hospitality is alive and well at Burial Beer Co., a place that turned a shopping trip into a welcome party, proving that Charlotte knows how to beat the heat with good pours, good people, and better merch.
