Presentation was 10/10, Every dish was very unique and very flavorful, the attention to detail makes the dishes very well put together and visually pleasing, the staff is very welcoming and makes you feels right at home. Looking forward to many more visits here.

We stumbled upon Root Food and Wine while visiting Klondike Park in St. Charles County. What a find! In the heart of Augusta, it's a small home that was converted into a fine dining restaurant with inside seating and patio seating when weather permits. We stopped in for lunch and had excellent service from servers Zack and Dylan. The lunch menu was limited on the day we visited with two lunch items. We started with appetizers that included chicken liver pate, and small diced apple cubes on a caramel drizzle. Our second appetizer was a sourdough bread, toasted, from a nine year old starter! For our main course The smash burger and homemade chicken nuggets were on the menu and my wife and mother-in-law ordered the smash burger and the homemade chicken nuggets for our granddaughter. We chose to finish our meal with the two desserts offered. The names escape me but they were a buttermilk custard with honey crumbles and an oatmeal cake on a chocolate sauce and gravel with whipped cream an and chocolate "gravel". Simply stated, the food was excellent! From beginning to end, appetizers to desserts, we could not have been more pleased. I complimented the Chef and Chef Phillip came to our table to thank us. On our way out we met with Katheryn, the sous chef, who told us of a red bud flower sorbet she was preparing. We told Chef Phillip and sous chef Katheryn how much we enjoyed the entire meal. Dylan made a point of telling me that the menu changes monthly and a new menu would be starting April 1st and Chef would be offering wild game! The dinner menu offers 5 courses for a fixed price per person as well as an option for wine pairings. I highly recommend trying out Root Food and Wine! Reservations are recommended. If our experience was what to expect for dinner, I promise you will not be disappointed!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This place...simply amazing!! It's located in Augusta, small quaint old home converted into a restaurant. Make a reservation, as the place is pretty small. Make sure you go early and belly up the bar...you'll be greeted by an impressively nice hostess and a first class mixologist who will mix up some the best drinks ever!! The penicillin is an absolute must have!!! Refreshing and the finest of concoctions! Moved from there into the dining room...4-5 tables in the old sitting room of the renovated home. Went with the 7 course for me and my bride...highly recommend!! The chef (who I've been told has won several awards) will likely come to serve you an array of delectable small plates. Everything from a cold soup, to a couple protein's and finished with some extravagant deserts. Make sure you make time...it's more than a meal, it's an experience!! Had a delightful French press coffee, with real heavy cream...was the perfect finishing touch. So many added surprises, served up with a staff who I believe are truly glad you are there...they evidently love what they do and again, bring you a culinary experience that is worth traveling 45 minutes to experience!! I can't say enough...you MUST and I mean MUST...do this!! Thanks you for such an amazing dinner!!! I'll be back with friends soon. Awesome time, fun and what an experience!!

Enjoyed a nice evening out in Augusta. Great spot to visit after a day at the wineries. The menu changes often, so I might be back again to try another menu. The mushroom starter was great as well as the sourdough bread. The chicken main dish was not my favorite, so i'd suggest something else. All in all a good experience, definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

Such a gem of Augusta! The restaurant is in an old house and has such a charm about it. The menu was small which I appreciate because sometimes too many options overwhelms! The menu was very seasonal and everything was delicious. The cocktails were too notch. I will say- I wish I did more than the 3 course because I did leave a little bit hungry because the portions are small. Will definitely be back in the spring when they change up their menu!

Quaint little restaurant in Augusta! My girlfriends and I had a wonderful day visiting a few wineries in the area and finished with Dinner at Root. The service and ambiance were fantastic. Chef came out at the end to say hello, which I always love, especially with a tasting menu. Portions are VERY small and the menu rotates based on what's in season. Our favorite was the Eclair on the staters menu. I absolutely loved the pork belly. The dessert I chose was a miss for me, as the honeycomb was way over powering and a bit peppery. Overall, if you are in Augusta, or looking to break up your winery weekend, this is a great spot to check out!

This ain't your Mama's kitchen! OK, what a cool restaurant. Nestled in a quaint neighborhood, this tiny house has been converted into an amazing five-star dining experience. From the excellent bar/bartender who is crafting drinks that defy human logic to the expert chef tempting your taste buds with tantalizing morsels. My server was amazing and friendly, plus there are some really cute salt and pepper shakers on every table. It really did feel like somebody's home; but that somebody just happened to be a cook who is far better skilled than I am!

Such a cute place in Augusta, Mo! We were heading out to the wineries for an afternoons and booked reservations at this restaurant to start our afternoon- I am glad we made a reservation because it was a full house! The food was great, it was a very genuine farm-to-table experience. The staff was great at explaining the dishes and every bite was delicious. Staff also extremely friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth the price!

As a repeat customer with family; husband and grandma, the food, drink and service is just as good as we've remembered. Their new menu astonished us with duck, trout and beef. To me, the duck is what really stood out from the rest. The drinks; wine, avocado with a little taquila and colada were all yummy. Colada is especially what grandma drank and almost licked every drop. Indoor seating brought an intimate feeling and makes dining with family real.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the amazing crew at Root Food + Wine for an unforgettable experience. The food was fantastic! Def the best restaurant to stop in the wine country area. So much detail and thought were put into this restaurant in the town of Augusta. A lovely house converted into a beautiful restaurant with a very quaint indoor and outdoor space. My group all had the tasting menu and we got to try a variety of courses. The spring soup and potato appetizers were both delicious. Our main course choices included a shrimp agnolotti, smoked brisket, and duck beasts. The standouts were the agnolotti and brisket - absolutely delicious. I'm not personally a big dessert person but loved the dessert course for its unique presentation. Our group had both the carrot cake and milk and honey. I loved the carrot cake -it was presented "deconstructed" and every ingredient was just lovely. What made our experience special was how much the entire staff indulged my group of girlfriends who wanted to suddenly film a TikTok dance video with the sous chef Benji. What a weird sentence that I just typed out. Thank you again for indulging our silly group. This is a now must visit stop for us each time I'm in the area.

We have been coming here for 1 year. We just celebrated their 1 year opening anniversary this evening. Their staff is as attentive as any other restaurant staff we've seen. Their food is unique and no one else but Chef Philip Day can create these dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the small town of Augusta.

You guys. This place was so good that I almost didn't write a review for fear that my words won't do it justice. Yet I must let other knows of it's deliciousness. The atmosphere is quaint. Cozy. Artsy. It emits warm and fuzzies, but entertained with a twist of elegance and sophistication. I was in town for a weekend getaway with 5 women, and upon researching restaurants, I made a reservation here (highly recommended since the dining space isn't very large). We were fortunate enough to be placed in a back room and had the area to ourselves. We all ordered different cocktails and wines, and there are a number of incredibly interesting and fun cocktails on the menu. Our servers mentioned that the chef is also a sommelier, so a couple of my friends opted to have him pick various wines for the different courses. But we were there for the food! We all opted to order from the fixed menu, which consisted of a starter, an entree, and a dessert. The started I ordered was the smoked tomato soup and it was divine. Smooth and creamy with a hearty smoked flavor that was heavy enough to be noticed but light enough to not be overbearing. Small chunks of ripened tomato floated throughout the bowl and provided the perfect bite of tartness. I chose the beef en croute as my entree and it didn't disappoint. A spin on beef Wellington, the perfectly cooked and expertly seasoned cut of beef was enclosed in a delicate flaky crust, and drizzled with a mushroom gravy concoction of sorts. I don't even remember what the sweet gal said about it, because I was too busy eating it. Another girlfriend ordered the charcoal grilled duck, and it was the most tender duck I've ever tasted. It melted in my mouth- seriously. Although I was definitely full, I didn't hesitate to eat most of my deconstructed carrot cake for dessert. Light, fluffy crumbled cake and bits of carrots were infused with cream cheese, toasted pecans and all was drizzled with caramel. Sheer euphoria. Ha/ I don't even care to sound dramatic; it was all excellent. The entire experience of eating at Root Food + Wine was phenomenal. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the food tasted incredible. I'd highly, highly recommend anyone traveling to or near Augusta to stop in and treat their palate with the cuisine from this gem of an establishment. I know I'll be back sooner than later!

#BradyEats a local farm to table experience we're raving about. Low Carb & lots of gluten free options. A constantly changing menu depending on what's fresh and excellent to prepare that day. As #TotalWinos we loved discovering new wines we may have overlooked had these wines not been expertly paired by Philip the head chef & sommelier. Great job Chef, our server Rachel & Staff. Sean J. From the reservation, to the hostess greeting us and helping us even though we arrived an hour early, to the desserts. The server was knowledgeable and helpful in choosing our food and drinks. It's a small menu, but clearly that allows and incredible focus on the quality and the details. I cannot imagine being unhappy with anything listed. This, for us is a special occasion place, simply because of the prices, but WORTH IT.

It was decently busy for a Wednesday night but there was plenty of bar seating. The decor is beautiful and I especially appreciated their carefully curated glass and tableware--all stunning. Our bartender, whose name I fail to remember, was excellent. She had great beer recommendations. We tried the Hefe Weissbier (my favorite, which paired perfectly with both appetizers), the Meteor Pils, and the Gaffel Kolsch. I'd recommend all of them if you're a beer drinker! The spinach dumplings are a must. They are bursting with spinach flavor and swimming in a rich brown butter sauce. We also tried the alpine dip, which comes with an enormous soft pretzel. It was okay, but the dip wasn't exactly what we were expecting. I'd probably pass on the alpine dip next time. Overall an amazing experience and I look forward to enjoying a full meal there next visit. Be advised that they pride themselves on seasonal menus so if you're eyeing a menu item, get yourself there to try it before it's gone!
