This place now goes under a new name (Irie Vybz), in the Flamboyan resort. We were staying in nearby Mahoney Run, and decided to check it out -- and boy are we glad we did. The setting is beautiful, the service was terrific, and I had some of the best jerked chicken I've had. The mussels appetizer was also terrific; make sure someone in your party gets fries, so you can dip them in the sauce after. The caprese salad was also excellent. Eating out is expensive on St. Thomas, but Irie Vybz was probably the most reasonable high quality meal we ate on the island. Highly recommended! read more

We were a party of 10 and enjoyed our reservations on the outdoor patio. The wait staff were very helpful and attentive. I had the Caribbean Cookout which included pulled pork, a rib and a side of polenta. Everything was delicious and I ate it all! As a visitor from California I had to try the local ale and found it quite refreshing. As tourists we had difficulties finding this restaurant at night but we made it after passing it ... twice. read more

We are officially done with this restaurant. We are probably their most loyal customers. Continual issues with to go orders. They finally have some nice people/servers working, Jen and Destiny are great. Having been patrons of this location due to the chef for about 20 years. Tonight however, was insulted by their so called manager. I asked for something g that they make during lunch all the time and not only asked once, Jen went in to reconfirm. Came out missing the most important ingredient and then when it was sent back, I can not describe what they did to it. If you can NOT make it just tell me. We were pissed for they ruined one of our entrees the night before due to staff not paying attention. This nailed the coffin. Slow season is coming and it's a shame there is no kitchen discipline. The manager said "I have other customers". Well, you lost these 20 year patrons of Chefs food. We spend well over $1500 a month. Good luck in slow season with that attitude. read more

Service was ok but the overall experience was a dud..we were there around 7 on a Saturday night and they were out of their bbq plate..well. One serving left of ribs but it what came out was a 2 bone blob of fat. The banhmi barely had any meat. The side salad was a good portion and ok. Fries were decent. This place is awesome, beautiful bar and grill next to waterfall pool and a view of the bay. The Mahi Mahi sandwich is excellent. And they are great at making substitutions i.e. salad instead of fries. It's simple yet elegant fair that is expertly cooked. Coming back for brunch soon! I wish I could give zero stars. I can't discourage you against this place enough. 1. After waiting 20 minutes to be seated, our waitress did not introduce herself, welcome us, or tell us about the specials. 2. After she came back (she also didn't take a drink order when we sat) we had to ask about the special which was fried chicken on arugula. Not really sure how a salad with chicken is your "chef's special mkt price" but ok. So I ask what the taco of the day (mkt price as well) was beef. I ask what kind of beef.... ground beef. . Again ... how do you advertise a mkt price special next to the ocean and give me hamburger? 3. We got the goat cheese and ahi for our appetizers. The goat cheese crust was thick and rock hard. The tuna was drenched in soy sauce to the point you couldn't taste the overcooked dried out tuna. 4. Then we waited 50 more minutes for our entrees that never came. At no point as our waitress and several other staff walked by were we offered more water or received an apology for the wait or lack of food. Maybe this place caters to the Applebee's/IHOP crowd but if you're looking for fresh food this place is a definite miss. read more

My friend and I found out about this place through our Airbnb host. We were very eager to check it out, because we thought that it was going to be a great local place. Upon arrival, we were told that we would have to wait, but we're nicks on the waitlist. We definitely had no issues with this. But then, after 30 minutes, I walked up to one of the staff members and they said that there were several reservations. This would have been nice to know upon arrival. There does not seem to be a very good system in place for people walking up without a reservation. After we were seated, the waitress was extremely unfriendly and disengaging. She never introduced herself or told us about the specials.Once we asked about the specials, she told us that there were beef tacos. We asked what kind of beef and she politely said ground beef at market price. Being on an island, I expected a lot more than ground beef as the special of the day. We got two appetizers and then we did over 55 minutes to get our entrees. At the 55 minute mark, not having any refills, or any updates about the meal we decided to pay for our appetizers and then leave without receiving the bill. I do not recommend this place if you are in town looking for a nice relaxing evening for dinner.I highly recommend heading over to Brooks bar and grill if you want some thing local, fresh, and friendly. read more

While on our trip, we met a couple of locals who brought us to this restaurant. Saw a lot of locals eating here so definitely had high hopes of trying some good island cuisine. Ordered the goat cheese balls and fried cauliflower for appetizers. They were delicious. Ordered the fried chicken w/gravy, mash potatoes and green beans. Pretty damn good! GF ordered the mahi mahi special of the night w/coconut rice and veggies. No complaints. The jerk chicken was delicious too. This is our second time for dinner here. The first was so bad, and I won't go into details but we said we would we would never eat here again. But, since it is so close and they had steel drums for entertainment we decided to give them another chance. Our food took over an hour to get to us. I ordered the flat bread pizza and my husband ordered the pasta, pretty basic. You wouldn't think that would take that long and they weren't even that busy. The flatbread was just Naan -bread that you could've picked up at the grocery store and the pasta tasted like it had some Ragu sauce poured on it. I don't know what happened back in that kitchen or why it took so long, but something is not right at this restaurant. I would put this restaurant in the category of bar food. It's really sad because this is a good location on the north side. The ambience is nice it has a beautiful pool the grounds are nice. They have a few cute kitties running around just chillin, but they just really need to get it together to be viable. Drinks were ok. Will not return. Food was good and our server was the sweetest but the on duty bar manager and general manager hospitality made us reconsider choosing to dine at this establishment. They were short, Curt and downright impatient. We asked general questions about their Covid protocol and the bar manager, seemed irritated we were even asking. Rolled his eyes and didn't even offer an apology when I informed him he was being an ass. When a meal came out, it wasn't what wasn't expected so we asked to switch it out (which is normal dining protocol) and they acted like it was an issue. As a visitor, we had a quick beer at Root 42. Root 42 is a hotel poolside bar close to Magen's Bay. We are here on Christmas Day and they have a limited brunch menu that we aren't thrilled with so we're gonna keep moving. The staff was punctual. The beer was cold. The location has a beautiful mountaintop view. The decor is cute. We would probably try it again if we had more days in St. Thomas. read more

This is nearly a reservation only place. We got there at 5 pm and were lucky most reservations started(marked on the tables at 6pm). They were already set for those reservations or being set after we arrived for 6:30, 7, etc reservations. They were very accommodating tho, set us in the shade. Atmosphere was nice outside by the pool and thought we had lucked out...however service was extremely slow, they were out of several of the entrees and took over an hour to get our meal, and ended with the food not even being worth the wait. Seems like it was all frozen food "cooked" and plated. Added shrimp to Veggie stir fry for $9 and got three shrimp with no flavor. Flat bread pizza mediocre with only 5 pepperoni slices added as an up charge. Pasta was hot on the top and cold on the bottom. Would not recommend for the price and wait. read more

The scene makes this place worth it. But the cats and just above average food for the price brings it down to a three. I had the mahi sandwich that was good, but had a little too much of that fishy taste (ironic right) and not to add a little dry. All while having cats rub up against my legs while I tried to eat. Had dinner there twice in the last week as it is very convenient to where we are staying and reservations weren't required. Bryan and Michelle were both great servers. Food is really good! Goat cheese balls for the appetizer were so good, we got them again the second night. All of our entrees were really good.
