I want to express my frustration, helplessness, and disappointment with the service I received on January 24, 2025. The technician, Luis, arrived on time and appeared professional. We were very excited to get a new faucet! The appointment was scheduled to replace the kitchen faucet, check the pipes, and replace the shower handle. As usual, the big companies do not provide the quotes before appointments. At the appointment date, I was quoted $225 for faucet installation if I had my faucet and $77 to check the drain. I accepted the quotes. 2. After removing the old faucet and pipes under the sink, the technician began installing the new faucet, but we noticed that the spray head didn't function properly. I decided not to install the faucet that I purchased. 3. The company offers faucets priced between $1,000 and $250, as shown on its phone. I chose the $250 faucet and signed electronically, assuming the installation cost would remain the same. Only afterward was I informed that installation would now cost $550, making the total $800.14--more than double the original quote. The technician insisted that he had explained the new process. The technician insisted that he had explained the new quotes to me. However, I knew he had not, as I would have remembered the new price of $800.14 Therefore, I rejected this deal. Concerns: 1. Poor Communication: The technician failed to clearly explain the pricing changes and show the revised costs on his phone before requesting my signature. 2. Failure to Resolve Issues: The technician requested $185 for incomplete work. When I called the company and spoke to Alex, a manager, he assured me the issue would be resolved the same day. Despite multiple follow-up calls explaining that my family had no kitchen faucet or water, no one responded or showed up. It is 6:35 p.m. on Friday, January 24th. I have been at home all day waiting for the company to install the new faucet. We still do not have a faucet or water in the kitchen. We only have promises, so we gave up. We do not want to have anything to do with this company. I am sure they will have their story and explain what happened, but I would never recommend this business's services. A minority Female own local nail shop in Pasadena had water flood from floor sink, trying to fix and remedy the situation immediately and got hold of a technician from rooter hero. It's sad I have to give 1 star out of 5 as a business owner, how upset I am can not describe 1000's of their 1 star review and I feel obligated to share my recent experience with rooter hero with yelp community, and hoping that I am the last victim to go thought this, and should never let this happen to any desperate small business owner nor to any female who doesn't have plumbing knowledge. A technician who came out first suggested that I run water leak detection and that I should also have a restoration company to come out so that they can start cleaning up the place so the business that has been destroyed from the water ( the whole vinyl floor was wet and needed to be ripped off, dried ) can start operate soon. One of the restoration company I called and found from yelp was able to come out pretty quick but the technician from rooter hero refused to work with them and explained to me that he has a protocol and he has a specific restoration company that he is only comfortable working with.( later I found out that the plumber gets very high Referal fee) While waiting for the crews from restoration company come out, he said the water detection will cost $950 and he suggested that I run hydrojet for all faucets (I had 6 faucets for pedicure bowl) which will cost me additional $1600 to clean up the pipe. I was desperate and fix the immediate situation with water, I agreed to sign and he quickly handed me his IPad with no explanation rather than that is for agreeing with service fee, nothing was left for me to read or explained, and I signed. At first I refused to do hydrojet, and He told me that he can provide me a discount and asked me how much I was willing to pay for the hydrojet service. I explained to him that my recent hydrojet service I received for other location costed me $120 and agreed to pay $350 to run hydrojet. The whole cleanup was moving forward with the restoration company and the plumber from rooter hero came back and was trying to clean up the pipe. The plumber came back to me and asked me that I might have an issue with my drain pipe under concrete, he doesn't know where the blockage is coming from and that his jet wouldn't pass certain point. He suggests me to run an inspection camera to find out where the source of water flood. I asked him what the cost will be, and he said it will be $5800 for jackhammering the concrete and that the cost doesn't include fixing the pipe. I was shocked to hear how expensive it was,and he started explaining to me that it will not be part of my expense but the insurance company or the landlord should cover it because none of it was my fault. I was very desperate, felt like my time and effort had been vested, desperately wanting to restore, remedy situation as fast as I can. He elaborately explained to me that insurance or the property manager must cover this expenses because none of it should be my fault, it's an accident and the pipe most likely at fault is underground, drain pipe, structural issue. I called the property management company, he explained the situation to the property manager, but the property manager quickly told him she will not do anything but if the fault is found in landlord's responsibility, then she will send her vendor to investigate. He insisted that I move forward with the service knowing how desperate I was, but I explained to him I would like to get a second opinion. That day, He ended up accidentally leaving the sink faucet open after his attempt to hydrojet which caused further water damage. Not only he couldn't complete the service but also the sink faucet pipe left unhook, the water ended up coming out, and extended an extra day of the dehumidification process. After trying to get different quotes for the pipe inspection, I found out at that Jack hammering was not even necessary because there were multiple access points they could run camera without jackhammering the concrete floor and those access points were clearly visible from the floor sink there was water flood where he was attempting to administer hydro jetting. After-all, my total expenses were $1300 with no pipe cleaning, no camera inspection, charged for services that was not needed - water detection. Do not ever work with this dishonest, unscrupulous,unethical company. Technicians/plumbers are commission shared with no set pricing in place, price gauging, their business model is set to try to charge customers as much as you can get away with it, take maximum advantage of their unfortunate situation. We asked him to keep the cable there to do another run, he said $77 was only run once regardless open or not. I went there the next day with my 25' auger got from Home Depot. My service guy (Alonzo) came across as a genuinely nice guy, but for me a retired police detective I read people quite well. I made sure I pointed out that I had been a rooter/plumber many many years ago. I know my way around his machine. When he arrived I already had the toilet off, as I had tried to snake it with my 25' cable and it just wasn't long enough. I had all ready diagnosed that it was my main line because everything was backing up to the lowest toilet. (I'm not even sure why I didn't;t just go to Home Depot at first to get a longer snake)!! He started snaking the drain and I watched. Doing most of the work by hand and not turning the machine on much to break thur anything. Then he started asking me about the house if it had clay pipes?? NOPE!! that tactic won't work! All new pipe here all the way to the main 6 years ago. Then says I'm gonna take care of you! He goes under the house briefly...basically wasting my time. Then comes back in an uses his machine again but again not really pushing hard or using the power which its made to open the blockage. Went online to find a local plumber for a clogged kitchen sink. Ad says $77 for drain cleaning. Tech showed up looked at and says that is going to be $277 to start???? Absolutely ridiculous ! If there is going to be extra charges just say it, Don't offer a lost leader ad to get into someone's house to then try and bump them to make the Visit more lucrative for you! I called rooter hero to fix a tub shower faucet. They responded in a timely manner. But over billed be for the faucet replacement. Billed for the plumber who did the work as well as the apprentice. Plumber did not turn off or turn on the water we did it. Plumber did not open up the back wall for the repair, he stated it could be done through the front of the shower, and that's what he did. He brought the straps to secure the new shower valve body and the hot and cold lines to prevent movement and vibration but did not install it and did not turn on the water to check for leaks. He left without doing that. After waiting the a lotted time we turned on the water and discovered that the new faucet wasn't secured. Got another company to do the work properly and who pointed out that there was no way it should have cost what they billed. We called Rooter Hero to discuss this and to date have not received a call back. read more

I had a plumber come to my home today and took the time to verify that my $77 coupon would cover the drain clear out on my home. I have been using their services for a few years without incident on the same sink. Today, however, I was told the same service would now cost $199, I refused to pay this amount and was instead offered a senior discount, I refused and confirmed that I had previously paid $77 for the same service. I was then told I could then pay $130 for the same service. I could not believe that they would take advantage of a senior and declined the service altogether. I have contacted Rooter Hero after discovering a blockage in my shower drain line. The plumber arrived and immediately asked me if I am the owner of the house (in fact the plumber asked several times) and if I was given a quote prior the scheduled time. From there, I knew something is not right. I showed the plumber the shower room and the plumber inserted the cleaning snake inside the drain. After hitting the pipe's side wall and after seeing that the snake was full of dirt and hair, the plumber got upset and said my drain line (in general) is very bad. I got puzzled and thought that the plumber discovered the root cause of the blockage and he would keep going. Nope, he packed up his tool and asked me where is the crawl space's opening. The plumber stick his head under the crawl space and immediately stated (or actually "verified") that the drain lines throughout the house need replacing. Plumber did not actually went under the house and take pictures, just sticking his head under the house. The plumber wanted $10,000 or so for the project and pressuring me to accept the quote. I asked the plumber how long does this project will take and the plumber stated three to four days. I told the plumber that I have to be at the house (to take a vacation from my job) to be in the house. Plumber stated that no one needs to be in house while they were working. That's a major red flag!!!! I told him No and he left (had to paid $225 for a few minutes roto-rooter job and a quote!!!! ) Just for the kicks, I put my head under my house to see if I can see the drain lines. Nope, I saw nothing but cobwebs, house's supports, and floor beams. I knew this plumber was full of it and I will never, never hire Rooter Hero ever again. I recently had a sewer main line blockage that could NOT break thru with the regular power router (technical word??), AND the blockage was outside of my property line into the city area beyond my sidewalk at the curb. Well City of Pasadena will NOT fix in that area..they give the responsibility to the homeowner all the way to the sewer line drop-off . Costs from 6 to 8k or as high as 20k..with permits. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I had a blockage in my sewer line on Thanksgiving morning. I called them and they came out within an hour. The technician seemed nice enough, said he couldn't clear the blockage, that I needed a descaling, but that technician couldn't come out until the next day. I postponed Thanksgiving dinner to Friday. The descaling guy and the original guy came out first thing Friday morning. I got suspicious because nothing was happening, they were walking around on their phones. I asked what was going on and they said they had to call their supervisor because there were roots in the line and they needed him to look at it before they move forward. The supervisor came out and was hesitant because they didn't want the pipe to collapse. I convinced them to go forward carefully. They were able to clear the roots, but there was a second blockage behind where the roots were and they couldn't clear it. Said the pipe was probably collapsed behind the blockage and wanted to break up the concrete in my driveway and fix the pipe for almost $16,000. I told them I would have to think about it so they left. I called another plumber my neighbor recommended. They came out Saturday morning and cleared the line in less than 30 minutes. The line was not collapsed or broken or in need of descaling. Rooter Hero lied to my face for 2 days trying to pressure me to pay for services I didn't need. They knew I had my elderly mother living with me and knew we had to limit our water intake to limit our bathroom usage. Also that I had family coming for Thanksgiving dinner. Let me tell you that these guys are fast, professional, reliable and they saved me SO MUCH MONEY! I appreciate the whole Rooter Hero team but I want to especially shoutout the man Byron for fitting me into his busy schedule and for getting my problems fixed fast and for a super low price. I had another plumbing company come to our property and they failed to help us for over 5 hours and left our tenants without a working toilet for a whole night and half a workday. They told me the next day that there was a major issue with our pipes and would cost about $9,000 to fix. On top of that, they said it would take them a few days to complete meaning my tenants would still not have a working toilet. They wouldn't give me time to think or even take in the information. I was so stressed, I decided to call Byron and asked him if he could come to the house to see if he could take a look. Keep in mind I didn't even have a slot on his schedule but he was able to be at the house within an hour or so. After arriving he was able to resolve the issue within an hour and restored our tenant's toilet. Literally I went from losing $9,000 to only spending about $250. Had a really bad pipe leak under my home last week. Called Rooter Hero for help. They sent a person out the same day, who diagnosed the issue - he ended up calling the supervisor to talk with me about the issue and pricing. So let me preface with the work that was completed was very good. The person who did the job did a great job and did everything he said he would do in the same day. My reason for not giving 5 stars is due to the pricing and follow up or lack of follow up. When the supervisor came out and discussed pricing; he gave me a price (which was a good penny). Due to the high cost, I asked if they offered any discounts; and he said there was a Triple A discount of 5%; supervisor offered to throw in a pipe inspection (with camera). I agreed to the cost and the AAA discount, and got the invoice - which oddly was not itemized to include the full price he quoted and the discount and final pricing. Invoice just had the final pricing. He also didn't ask me to show my AAA card. After the job was done, I paid, and the worker said the supervisor would contact me about arranging the pipe inspections. The following day, my wife said she heard on the radio that there was a veterans discount (15% which is awesome) offered by them for the month of November, the discount is also noted on their website (which I checked later). Being retired veteran, I don't have a money tree in my backyard, so that 15% would have been a great discount to the quote he gave me. Needless to say I was a little perturbed that the supervisor never mentioned or offered the discount. So I called and talked to the call center rep about my situation, and requested to see if I could get the discount (albeit after the fact); and mentioned the supervisor never mentioned the discount; the call center said they would contact the location and the location/ supervisor would call me about it. Well it never happened, never got the call about the invoice/ discount or the promised pipe inspection from the location. If you need plumbing work...you can call them. Work was good, but I wont be calling them if I need any future work done. read more
