Really disappointed in dealing with Rooter Ranger. I had a clogged pipe and I called for a snake service. They came they took out their camera and proceeded to "snake" my drain with the camera?? I guess I looked like a fool because they proceeded to tell me that they could not clear the drain and they think roots have grown through the pipe, causing the blockage. So it would be 7500$ to fix the pipe and put salt around the pipe to stop root growth. Something seemed really off about their consultation so I called another independent plumber. He proceeded to use his camera AND THEN use his snake machine to clear the drain... No roots in the pipe.. Rooter Ranger clearly were trying to scam me out pf my hard earned money. I would advise you to find an owner operator plumbing company that cares more about serving the customer vs the owners balance sheet. Predatory company! read more

EDIT: I do not know for certain the name of the person I met. I did not ask for ID. My identification was based on the fact that I was given a business card for a man named Jordan Beebe, who contacted me after this review to say he hasn't been in the field for three years. That may be true. I just know the name from the business card (see photo), and was told that the man who worked the camera through the pipes was said to be the supervisor/boss to the original tech who tried to fix the issue. I have amended the references to his name in this review. ===================== Rooter Ranger was out at my older (1970s) basement home in Gilbert, Arizona on June 5, 2021. I had called for plumbing help because our downstairs bathroom was backed up. I have since had the problem completely fixed by another company (including a camera check), and can now say definitively that he was totally wrong about the problem. The company representative *insisted* that there was a break in the pipe under the slab in the adjacent room. This was not the case. (See photo.) At the time, I told him at least twice that what he was suggesting made no sense, based on where the drain entered the sump, and the logical path for the plumbing in the bathroom. Even with their camera, he apparently couldn't orient himself with what he was seeing. He relied solely on pinging his electronic equipment, instead of taking the time to use visual clues (with and without the camera), listening to his customer's concerns, measuring the distance, and/or doing his due diligence by looking inside the sump pump basin. (I asked him twice if he wanted to take a look inside it, and he said no both times.) So he couldn't be bothered to take the time to check out a very integral part of our plumbing system that was near the bathroom, nor did he seem to verify anything else that could have been the issue... but he had no problem at all immediately telling me that the "solution" was $3,200-$3,400 of jackhammering/repair to fix the "broken" pipe. (He didn't even mark the area on the floor where he thought the problem was. How was someone supposed to properly fix anything without such guidance?) If he had simply checked the pump basin, the company representative would have literally seen the root of the problem -- as well as the tip of the camera -- and he also might have even noticed that the pipe was not broken. (The root entry was at a joint, not due to a break.) A photo of the huge root ball is shown here, which was quickly discovered and expertly removed by Roto Rooter. What the company representative suggested would have been very destructive, expensive, hugely disruptive to our entire household -- and completely unnecessary. He also prolonged the length of time it took to solve our major plumbing problem. And to get to the point where he could deliver this advice, the company charged me $200. Before submitting this review, I contacted Rooter Ranger about this issue with the details above. I got one brief email back from someone else, suggesting a phone call -- but I never received a call or voicemail. (ETA: I gave them 30 days to contact me/discuss this before posting this review.) last year we had some major plumbing issues that rooter Ranger handled and fixed. It was a very costly job, but everyone did an amazing job. We haven't had any problems since until last week the same bathroom that they had worked on was fine except the sink was plugged, so I called a couple of other plumbing agencies and was told different things but then I remembered what an amazing job rooter ranger the year before so I called them and had a visit with James the supervisor. He reviewed the problem and called his boss, and they decided to fix the problem at no cost to us since they decided to include included in the warranty for the previous job they did. This plugged sink was a bigger issue than just unplugging it . The problem was the plumbing behind the wall, which was going to be very expensive to fix but rooter Ranger stepped up and not only did they do it at no cost, but they did it so timely in a couple of days. rooter Ranger sent two guys to do the job Joseph and Alex. I initially called because of their drain cleaning special , we live in A vintage (1960's) house so plumbing problems are something we have had to deal with many times over the last 10+ years we have owned our home. After having experienced A number of plumbers/plumbing companies I can finally say we have found THE BEST hands down! Not only was the receptionist helpful and professional but she quickly dispatched A plumber to my home ( within an hour) to unclog my main drain line. The entire crew from Jared and Cody were polite, profession and extremely neat in there work. They diagnosed the sewer line problem, after a very quick response. They showed the blockage on their camera scope, and, the damage done by roots growing in the line. They gave us two options. We choose to replace the damaged section. After they dug up the damaged section, they re-lined the sewer line and they replaced the landscaping, like they were never here. We would definitely use them again. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would. First they are EXPENSIVE. For 5 water cut offs I was charged $800. Only 2 were under a sink. Second job I was told they have plenty of techs waiting on a call. When the estimate was given, they couldn't get here until tomorrow. When the techs showed up at 7:45am, they STUNK!! Smelled like they had slept off a drunken bender. Then they did not take care when cutting out the drywall and were not going to replace it! For almost $2k to move kitchen water line and drain 6", replace ice maker supply and one supply line, I would have expected better care or at least rough replacement of drywall. **UPDATE** So after this whole ordeal, we got a surprise visit this morning from Rooter Ranger, specifically Daniel, who, within 15mins diagnosed and located the leak. By far the best experience with a plumber. Last time I had my cleanout drain snaked a year ago, it was costly. Having the same issue again one year later, I was still getting quotes for a couple hundred dollars to use a snake for 15 minutes. I get all the overhead costs, but I don't mind paying a lot for bigger jobs. Companies should be relying on repeat customers, not overcharging customers that won't come back for future services. I used Rooter Rangers unclog drain special and will be using them for everything else I will need in the future. They came out the next day (even though it was 8 pm at night), when most plumbers are already done with their workday, and found out exactly why I was having this issue again. We have some large trees out front, and unfortunately roots are beginning to form in our laundry room pipe 50 feet away from where it was being backed up. The tech was friendly and knowledgeable. Unless you are looking for something minor or taking advantage of a special they have I would not recommend this company. I work for a contractor in the area and was in need of a plumber for a clients home. Not only were they an hour late with no communication but they tried to upsell the client and LIED. The client had a line that needed to be hydro jetted. The first tech came to snake the line and said they couldn't. Expected as this was already done by our company. Then he called a second guy out to run a camera. Why they would not supply each of their plumbers with a camera is beyond me. Especially since we had advised the company it would most likely need to be jetted. After they had done the inspection they told the client $2200 to jet all the lines and that there was a tree root coming in. They said they would only jet from the kitchen sink and the laundry. Given this house layout this would have completely missed the master bathroom lines. The next day we had Mr.Rooter come and give an estimate. Not only were they below there price but there was no tree root in the line when they looked! I understand needing a sales team but to have each of your plumbers be a salesman is asking for issues. I met Rooter Ranger because the City of Scottsdale could not resolve my sewer roach problem, after spraying a horribly infested manhole just outside my house, so the City told me to get a 'smoke test", to reveal openings where the roaches can come in thru plumbing. I asked for plumbing quotes for this smoke test and various other plumbing issues i had accumulated being my 1. water pressure was really low, 2. my garbage disposal didn't work, and 3. the bathroom drain plugs didn't stay pulled up to keep the roaches from coming through, so i had to put rocks on the plugs. Rooter Ranger adjusted my water pressure at the pressure regulator, which was newly installed last year. They made one sink plug work, the other had a broken rod. And they diagnosed the garbage disposal to be all rusted out, and quoted me to remove it and fix the plumbing without a disposal. They told me camera into the sewer is a lot cheaper, than smoke test, whcih everyone said it won't be effective against roaches that come from the sewer, as the smoke test is only for above ground plumbing. The roaches are coming from the sewer into the pipes, yes they swim thru the water int he P traps, so many they are. Even though Rooter Ranger didn't make any money from their visit to my house, they came and spent a lot of time at my house, one area Supervisor came to check up on the first guy to arrive, and they spent a lot of time, and resolved some of my issues and pointed me in the right direction for for the remaining issues. i felt a sense of accomplishment from their visit, and want to compensate them for their time, by giving them this 5 yelp star, since they only have one other. We had scheduled a plumber to come out and do a sewer scope and they had confirmed the time of 4pm. 5pm came along and they had not showed up. I called and they said they would have a technician call me. They did not. At 7pm I called again and they said a supervisor would call right away. They did not. I called in the morning to see if someone was going to come by. AGAIN, they said a service manager would call within ten minutes. Guess what? They did not call back. Who runs a business like this? We waited for nearly a month to write this review because Isaac was so darn NICE and seemed to want to help us and we wanted to give the main office time to contact us but they never did, even after repeated calls. My daughter's toilet in the master bedroom that she rents out in her older, small home on Mulberry Drive in SW Phoenix got plugged up on Dec. 18, 2021. Isaac came out and tried to clear it, couldn't do it, then said we needed to use water to "blast" it out. He went up on the roof because the older home does not have access points and was able to clear it. Charged us $1189 for clearing the pipe and running a camera down to see if they could find the problem, which they did the next day. We paid for it and Isaac assured us that the amount could be put toward any more expensive repairs that needed to be made. Apparently the camera showed a problem out near the road. Repairs would cost in excess of $5000 - 6000. My daughter has two toilets, and only one of them was backing up repeatedly. The renter was not putting anything she shouldn't down the drain. I asked Isaac, "If the problem is at the road, why aren't BOTH toilets backing up? He said that maybe it was closer to the outlet near the road, which did not make sense to me. My issue is two-fold: 1) My daughter has repeatedly asked for a detailed receipt showing what the $1189 included and has been assured each time that she would be sent one. None has arrived as of almost a month after the service. I tried calling and no one who has any authority is ever in the office. 2) This amount seems exceptionally high for the work performed. Am I wrong? Do you have some sort of a price chart we could see? My husband and a plumber friend who used to work many years for a rooter company came over a few days later, removed the toilet, and ran hot water for 10 minutes down the tub and toilet pipes with no blockage. We would like to see the video of the problem with the pipes to confirm that an actual problem exists. If the pipe issues near the road are not actually what caused the blockages, we would like some of our money returned and an explanation of what they did and a receipt showing the work done. No complaints about Isaac, as he was trying to be helpful and just did what his boss told him to do. Please contact us or my daughter to resolve this issue. I have called the office several times to try to talk to someone in charge with absolutely no luck. UPDATE: The delightful Albert from HR returned my call on Jan. 14, 2022, and we tried to figure out why my daughter did not get the invoice that she had requested several times. Turned out that someone had written her email address down wrong and within a few minutes, she received the receipt. Rooter Ranger also agreed to a partial refund for the work done because we had so much trouble getting this resolved and explained to us. My daughter is still waiting for a final phone call explaining what she will need to do in the future based on the results from the camera.
