After Jordan sold the business the price of their work was 4 times the amount three other reputable plumbing companies quoted me. I was quoted $300.00 to $600.00 for the same job by other companies. Of the companies I contacted for this sewer line repair project, they were the most professional in quoting exactly what they would do, and why they were going to do it, and they gave a fair price that was inline with most of the other quotes. Because it seemed a fair price, I didn't quibble, but I got the impression that I might have been able to get the price lower if I'd asked. They did exactly what they were contracted to do, and gave the best warranty on their work. Professional and courteous when dealing with them. Very shady business practices, built on manipulation and scare tactics. We had them out for a blocked drain, only be told the house need a complete replan with a price near $50,000. As an emergency "fix" they blew out our pipes for $1500. This "fix" actually broke our pipe. Feeling like we were being swindled, I had 2 separate plumbing companies come out for diagnostics, then price quote. Both found Rooter Rangers diagnostics to not only be inaccurate, but far beyond the scope of the problem. ZERO STARS! If you don't read this review please heed my advice-DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I initially called Rooter Ranger as I have dealt with companies like G Brazil, Goettl, and other and wanted to try someone new. I was attracted to the kids singing the jingle and so I gave them a call. A foul odor in my guest bathroom was the issue. Technician/plumber arrived on time with advance notice given, I was impressed. After 30 minutes or so the gentleman had some theories but nothing definitive. I requested they run a camera to assess my sewer pipes and also to check the status of the vent pipe for this bathroom. I then had to wait for 45 minutes or so as the Onsight technician did not have a camera. At that time another gentleman arrived he appeared to be more knowledgeable and brought in the camera for the assessment. I was asked the age of my home and then was told, regarding the odor, since my home was built in 1971 it had cast iron vent pipes. Being in Code Enforcement for almost 30 years and a certified home inspector, I had never heard of that but they showed me photos of a corroded galvanized pipe in my wall so I trusted what I was being shown and told. With one of the men on the roof running the camera, which has a tracking device on the tip, down the vent once again, using a locating device, found the pipe was located behind the shower which would need to be accessed through a wall in my living room. Not happy about that but knowing I had to get it done I scheduled them to come exchange it for around$1,500. I had told the gentleman that in the past few weeks I had sewer roaches coming into both bathrooms. The men told me that in the video they could see roaches going in and out of the corroded area. On the date scheduled, the first time slot was missed, no one came and no contact until I reached out. I was told I had a new afternoon slot (which I had not been asked about, nor did I agree to) but was committed to since I needed the work done. The second appointment was scheduled from 12-4 PM. As it approached 3:45 PM and again no contact from anyone, I reached out to the office. I was told they would contact the men and have them get back to me. About 10 minutes later the plumber (who had been the first to arrive on the initial call) called saying that he did not have an "installer" available. This was at 10 minutes to 5. The gentleman asked to reschedule, I said I did not want to reschedule as he could have told me this earlier or at least called to say he could not make the first slot 8-10. He began making many excuses about the "installer having an emergency and was out of town to which I told him, I could understand but if he were out of town this did not happen a few minutes ago and he still should have called me so that I did not waste my whole day waiting for them. I told him that this was not my problem but would have understood if he had reached out rather than waste my day. I told him to cancel everything, send me the video and bill me for the $200 they charge to run the camera. I received an invoice for $200 (Cost to run the camera). I asked for the video and would be happy to pay the bill I agreed to. This was over a month ago. I have subsequently received multiple texts which are obviously A.I. created as they continue to repeat the same information. I eventually had to call another plumber, as Rooter Ranger refused to send the video even though in texts they kept saying they would. When my new plumber arrived, individually owned not a franchise, I explained the situation and he thought the odor was from the toilet as I did not seal the back of the toilet with caulk. He said however that based on the information I had been told from Rooter Ranger he would do the repair for approximately half what I had been quoted for the same work. Neither were going to repair my wall although the second gentleman said he would recommend someone If needed. The new plumber (Vintage Plumbing) began to cut into my wall after careful calculations. When he exposed the vent pipe, which was exactly where Rooter Ranger said it was, the pipe was ABS. For those who don't know this is a commonly used "Black PLASTIC" pipe used for sewer vents, etc. as it does NOT deteriorate. The gentleman from Vintage Plumbing was very apologetic as we could not believe what had happened. He charged me a nominal fee to replace the sheet rock, told me to seal the back of the toilets and let him know. He indicated that if that did not solve the problem a smoke test could be applied to seek out the smell. I made multiple requests for the video from Rooter Ranger but as you can guess I never received it of course because it was a fraud. The A.I. program being used told me to "opt stop" to stop receiving the texts. I did and have not received any more, never received the video never paid the bill as a matter of fact the link to pay the bill ended up being blank, and I have not heard a word since. read more

I contacted this company on a Sunday evening for service with complaint of sewage back up. Attempt was made for a technician to come out Sunday and they were unable to come out, but offered 10% discount for a service call on a Monday morning. When technician arrived, I was no longer having sewer backbackup in the house. So technician Brian said he could not find a problem but needed to have a supervisor come out with a camera for $350 to find the blockage. (Water bubbling up in front yard at trap) This is a common technique, used by plumbers to upsell and find more complicated problems when I requested that the technician start with the leak where the water was coming up in the front yard at the Clean out trap. He said he would have to dig it up and this is common practice for them to do, but he did not start where the problem was and went was looking for a larger problem and payout. This is unfortunate and unprofessional business practice to up charge clients. Do not recommend. I asked them to just do cheapest repair first, just snake the damn drain with a cutter. Rooter Ranger has a great sales team and were very fast at getting their team in to do repairs to. Repairs were done in the timeframe expected and as quoted. I do however feel that the customer service thereafter was lacking. I feel like they were paid and moved on. This was a fairly big job where I had to have my insurance involved. I feel like more follow up could have happened from Rooter Ranger to ensure the smooth process continued to completion. Especially being that Rooter Ranger called out "Quick Restore" to do the mitigation and restoration. It has been an absolute nightmare working with this company. After multiple calls and texts to Quick Restore and Rooter Ranger and getting little to no responses, I have had to move on and figure out how to get my house restored myself. At that time he said we will make things right first we will refund us fully if not at least half of what we paid and we will send someone o jet the pipes today. Edit: Rooter Ranger proactively called me a few days ago and apologized for my experience. After discussing what might have happened ("potentially poor training of the technicians that were sent out" is what I took as the final conclusion), they completely refunded all the money I had paid them. I'm amending my review up to 4 stars because of the refund and more so the fact that they did call me, probably because of my initial review (see below). I called Rooter Ranger because they were at the top of Google's search listings. They came that afternoon, and tried to clear the sewer line from one of our toilets. They used a power auger (snake), but said they cleared the clog but could not go any further because the pipe was "bent". Later they came back with a camera and "verified" that the 90 deg pipe at the bottom of the ~4ft 3" vertical pipe from the toilet was in fact "bent upward" at a 14 deg angle (how they could measure that so precisely is unknown...). They said the only long-term fix was a repipe costing around $9k. I initially agreed to the service but had second thoughts due to the cost and wanted a 2nd opinion. Asked around our church, and got the name of a trusted plumber, he came out the next day. Amusingly, his power auger (a 30-year-old model) could feed upwards of 70 feet through the line., past the alleged "bend". The line is now unclogged. I officially canceled the Rooter Ranger service. So far, 14 days later, no issues, full flushes. $300 for the latter service. Why Rooter Ranger with their "modern" auger couldn't have gone further is...well, a mystery. They called me back 3 times wanting me to reinstate their fix, I politely declined. A refund of the down payment on the $9k was issued after a few calls. I was still charged ~$400 for the initial cleaning. Yes, they were friendly and efficient, but I felt almost like a victim of a complete upsell. Your mileage may vary.
