Falafel bowl with harissa sauce and side of tzatziki, sides include sweet potato, hummus, and feta
    Andrea M.

First of all I'm really glad this addition was added to the food court because there are limited healthy options and Roots and Greens provides some refreshing new options. I want this place to stick around! That being said I did not really like my meal. I want to believe it's on me for choosing the wrong combo but I had a couple of issues. First, at least when I went, the rice was sitting out in a separate dish and was room temperature. I would like the rice to at least be warm, even better if it had some fragrant flavor like saffron rice should but I didn't taste it. Second, I got the falafel, which is something best served fresh or it gets dried out, unfortunately it was very dry even when dipping in the tzatziki so I did not finish it. The harissa sauce mixed with tzatziki was really good so I'm hopeful that a fresh and hot falafel with warm rice would have been much better than what I had today. Willing to try again. The staff was young but sweet and helpful, no complaints there.

Regular customized plate $15.99, entree choice, salad/starch, and three toppings

Customizable, fresh, healthy, and tasty. Wonderful addition to Ala Moana's food court. The price is fair, about $16-19, depending on your number of entree choices. They have grab and go containers for convenience but the best option is the 1-2 choice of protein plates which comes with choice of salad/starch and sides. I like to split the tumeric rice and mixed greens as the base. Then for my sides I love fresh options like their humus, beets, cucumber salad, or roasted Okinawan sweet potato. You also choose a dressing. The lemon vinaigrette is my go to and one or two protein choices. I've only tried the grilled salmon but the falafel and Mediterranean beef looks delicious too. They also top it with a fried pita chip which is crunchy and way better than the ones you find in a bag. Overall, its prices are comparable to all the food court vendors but the quality of food is superior. My new go to at the mall!

Regular Bowl. half romaine/half pasta, cucumbers, feta, chickpea salad, souvlaki chicken thighs, green goddess dressing.

I love that there is a healthy food option at the Ala Moana Food Court! You basically build your own salad bowl, from the base to the protein choices. Every protein choice I've gotten here is really good - I especially love the steak and the chicken. The portions are really generous, and the dressing options are numerous. The service is quick (since they make the bowl to order and right in front of you). The price is a bit high, but it's Ala Moana food court so it's to be expected. I am a huge fan of this place and recommend it if you're in the mood for something healthier while you're shopping at the mall!

Regular size: half Basmati Rice & half Romaine Lettuce, cucumbers, hummus, garbanzo salad, falafels and tzatziki sauce

Curiosity led my husband and I here while waiting for our boys' order of Mr. Cow and we're automatically drawn to their falafels and assortment of salads and veggies. I'm not a big fan of basmati rice in general, not just here, but I feel that it lacks flavor. BUT little did I know, the sauces and dressings that they provide help curb that issue. I should have followed what my husband did instead of just asking for one sauce! I loved it here! Needless to say it was a lighter and healthier choice than a heavy rice plate and then having to walk around the mall with regret.

Still love this place. Great service, tasty entrees. This time got a large bowl, so 2 entrees-- great portion size for $20. However, got a huge clump of dirt in my salad. So it unfortunately messed up the entire bowl.

Love the delicious gluten free options Filling and under $25 I've gotten the falafel, salmon and chicken options. I always get a cumin basmati and greens base mix, roasted purple potatoes, humus, chickpeas, and lemon dressing. So delicious!! I get the biggest size to be full and have breakfast the next day with whatever is extra!! Yum!! I've taken it to go and each at ala moana beach park under the trees or at the beach.

Absolutely love this place. There are pre-prepared options, and design your own salads. If feeling lazy then I usually buy premade salads either ceaser salad or possibly a middle eastern dish with falafel. On days I do make it your way..I choose regular size with the base, 2 sides, meat and sauces on the side. They have lettuce, rice, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes. Various cheeses, variety of dressings and the proteins...shall I go on? My favorite part of this experience are the meat varieties...salmon, grilled chicken, Mediterranean flavored beef, and the list goes on. Topping the dish with your favorite sauce or not is a nice finishing touch. Service is great! Super nice staff! Helpful! Clean kiosk and very bright which is inviting. Nice ambiance because it's in the crowded food court. One of the better food options!

Fresh and delicious , my favorites are the hummus, pickled onions, hummus, harissa dressing. I can't wait to try the falafel

    Chloe L.

As a vegetarian, I was surprised by how many choices there were and how good everything tasted. The falafel was definitely my favorite, and I like mixing the pasta with the greens to make it more filling. The portions are big enough that I usually have leftovers for another meal, which I love. The people working there are always really kind and make the place feel welcoming.

Haven't been to the food court over a year and a half cause all the food there is mediocre, but was hungry and decided to see if there was any new places and found this place amazing just look at the picture also smells so good and healthy at the same time. I will definitely be a regular so glad there's a place like this in the food court now.

    Caesar Wrap
    Sunny V.

Located on the Makai food court. They have Build your own plates and options of cold or hot to go plates. I chose a Caesar Wrap. I chose this as a quick snack to share. The price of the wrap is kind of average but the chicken seemed like a bigger portion than most places, so that's why I chose it and it was pretty good. I really liked their house made Caesar dressing!

Still my go-to spot for lunch or dinner whenever im in Ala Moana. Alex behind the counter is super cool, he's been working there a while now. They offer likely the cleanest eating in the entire food court. Freedom of choice is key when you want to eat and they allow you to choose what goes in your salad.

Mixed green salad with Grilled salmon, tomatoes, cucumbers, purple sweet potato, pita chips with evoo and herb dressing

Here on vacation and decided to visit the Ala Moana mall. This mall and food court are both fun and lively. Tried Roots and Greens. Got a salad with mixed greens and salmon. The whole salad was amazing. Got it with beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, purple sweet potato and the evoo and herb dressing. The grilled salmon was probably the best salmon I've ever had at a mall and could easily have been served at a high end restaurant. The man at the counter was nice and friendly. The food court is packed with many delicious less healthy offerings so not surprising that there wasn't a line at this place, but if you want a healthy and delicious meal at this mall and you enjoy grilled salmon, definitely try out this place.

The Bocconcino Whipped Burrata was a recommendation from our waitress and this was my favorite dish! So thankful she recommended it. I have never had anything like it before. The dip is made from roasted beets, walnuts, and pomegranate molasses. Because it was whipped, the texture was so light. It was perfect. The Greek Salad and Brussels Sprouts were only ok. I did not expect there to be as many tomatoes as there were and I wasn't really a fan of it for the price. My husband enjoyed the scallops and he recommends giving it a try. The restaurant is super clean and spacious, and they play some awesome classic rock music. You order and pay at the counter and they will bring you the food; the lady at the counter was extremely friendly and very efficient. You need to bus your own table when you're done, just place the used dishes, glasses and utensils in the labeled plastic tubs, not a big deal at all. Now, the food is the star. We order baba ganoush with pita, super gyro with zucchini fries, and a soup and salad combo. The baba ganoush was so delicious, and the pita was warm and soft. The super gyro has so much yummy meat in it that the pita can hardly hold them, and the zucchini fries were crispy and not oily. It also comes with a couple really good tzatziki sauces. My wife really enjoyed the avgolemono (lemon and chicken) soup and greek salad. She was so pleased with the combo that she had to order an extra takeout combo for her friend to try. On top of all that, we finished our great meal with a baklava sundae; two fresh crispy baklava pastries with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with cinnamon and honey. This desert is a must order. The restaurant is mixed in with a lot of other restaurants and shops in a large strip mall, so it maybe easy to miss. I love the way the lamb was seasoned and the baba ghanoush was delicious I might even prefer it over hummus. Not pictured, but I even got to try their garlic fries which also weren't greasy either and they had lots of garlic! I got to try their spanakopita as well, super flaky and crispy. For me, everything was a 10/10. It ended up being a lot more food than expected and perfect if you're looking for something healthy, light, but also filling. The environment was calm and the lady who was there was super friendly as well! I'd be back all the time if I didn't live so far!

To be fair, we feel the brunch is good, but dinner is overpriced and the portions are much too small when ordering from a set menu. We hosted a large party with 2 tables and we met with Orchids marketing 4 times on the positioning of the tables and when we arrived for the dinner the 2nd table was not close to the main one at all so we were not able to celebrate with both tables. The salad was fine, but honestly, it was a serving portion fit for a toddler. The bread was okay, not great, not freshly heated, a bit stale. The tomato bisque was too concentrated, though tasty, it should have been thinned before serving. The crouton was fine that topped it. The main entrees of seabass were tiny and dry and not enough sauce to offset the dryness --he steak was just okay, and very, very small. The proteins were not served with anything else on the plate which exaggerated the tiny portion and I heard guests laughing at the tiny portion in the middle of the large plate. Why not serve a green veggie or potato serving with the main? That is cost effective and the guest would have more food. I am a very small eater and I was appalled that the average person there would not have enough to eat. Then the coconut cake came. Tasty, but tiny, again. They cut less than half of the cake that we ordered and boxed the rest up for us to take home! Ridiculous! Should have cut bigger slices the first time. The math was easy and the guests were starving. What an extreme disappointment for almost $4000 after tax and gratuities! Come on, that is a terrible value and I suppose that is a venue tax for having a great view while dining on tiny, tiny portions. We entertain quite a lot and we will not book another dinner here as everyone had to get something to eat after the meal to fill up. I was totally embarrassed and pissed off simultaneously. Save your hard-earned money and go anywhere else and do not host a special dinner here!
