Had lunch with my wife and brother-in-law. Looking forward to try Thai Issan. The restaurant had many good reviews. let's start with the service. Our server was pleasant and attentive. She repeated our order perfectly with no hesitation. No scratch tab or electronic devices., Impressive. The seating was comfortable. They did turn the lights on a few minutes after we were seated. Food wise, Of the five dishes we ordered the Pad Thai was my favorite. The other four had different flavors or textures that I didn't care for. located next to Foodland in the Market City Shopping center. It's a convenient Thai food restaurant for those in the Kapahulu Area. Enjoy

    King of Chili

This place has steadily gone downhill. We used to come here almost weekly. It used to be known for quality Thai food at reasonable prices, but those days are gone. Prices are up while quality has dropped. The King of Chili used to be our favorite, but on this visit it was super salty and the portion much smaller. Smaller portions at higher prices AKA "Shrinkflation". The chicken in the Chicken Shrimp Cabbage Salad was so dry and tough it could rival chicken jerky. They now charge a $5 corkage fee which would make sense if they served alcohol. But charging $5 just for giving me an extra glass is ridiculous. Part of the charm of this place was grabbing a bottle from Foodland next door to grind with my Thai food. Finally, when the table next to us mentioned a 3% credit card surcharge, I asked the server if that was true. She confirmed it was. When I asked why it wasn't disclosed upfront, she just shrugged. Saving grace, the service was good and the food came out promptly. In a city with so many Thai food options, there's no reason for us to return to Thai Issan.

Red and Yellow curry take out

First time to this location and we ordered take out. Such a lovely interior with delicious food. The outside looks not so appealing but this is the case of don't judge a book by its cover. Once the door opens you notice the cozy interior, wonderful smells and the crowded tables but everything is very clean. Staff are super helpful for the undecided. We did a take out of spring rolls, curries, pad see ew. It was a twenty minute wait but that went by quickly. Food came out hot and fresh. We enjoyed the crispy spring rolls with the fried white wrapper. The yellow curry was so flavorful with turmeric flavoring. The red curry spicy with a kick. The noodles were so good with the thicker texture, eggs and vegetables. Everything was good. Yes...on the pricier side but it is hard to find a good restaurant that totally satisfies that craving! Will return again and again!

    Mango Sticky Rice

The mango sticky rice from here is my absolute favorite! It's also very cheap (I get it on Uber One for $7.95) so it must be even cheaper in person. It comes with the perfect amount of coconut sauced rice to mango ratio. It's always warm and fresh and soooo delicious! Not sure if they only have it certain days tho because it's not always offered on Uber Eats.

1st time here my brother took us to lunch and he said Peter Y and some of the others yelpers went here. The food is okay but certain places I prefer the taste the way they make it. We had the spring rolls, pad thai noodles with shrimp, stuff chicken wings, ong choi with beef stir fried, and chicken fried rice. The spring rolls the wrapper was on the chewy side I prefer the wrapper to be thin and crispy. Maybe that's how they make it. The pad thai noodles was good, the stir fried ong choi with beef isn't like Chinese style but they make it with some kind of their sauce, the chicken fried rice was slightly bland, the stuff chicken wings was ok but I had better. All in all it was okay. Maybe we just ordered the ordinary and if we went with other yelpers they would have ordered something different.

    Pad kee mao
    Romyn S.

I love the pad kee mao at this place because that's my favorite Thai dish of all time! Atmosphere - It's lively and they have around 4 tables in there so it's a bit small. Service - They provide what you need and will check in with you! Cost - Around $12 - $25 per dish that we got. Parking - It's in the Market City Shopping plaza next to Foodland so park anywhere there! They are also parking spots right in front of them but Foodland people can park there so wherever you can get parking. Location - It's next to Foodland and there's an Italian place right above them. I would definitely come here again for Thai food because they're always on point with my favorite dish. If you want spice, you have to ask because they're not going to ask you so you have to remember to ask for it!

Delicious as always. Stuffed chicken wings were soo juicy and yummy, the green curry lunch special is a steal ($21 for curry, fried chicken, rice and salad) and the drunken noodles were delicious

    Pad thai
    Addie L.

Why the hate with the reviews? The average rating is about right. The service is the biggest strength of the restaurant.. got good recommendations, very friendly and prompt. Food is pretty good with a few quirks. Pad Thai is good but a little too much gravy, not used to not having very little veggies and bean sprouts. Tom ga soup a tad too sour. Otherwise right amount of flavors. Chicken satay is the favorite. Nice and crispy and moist chicken. The peanut sauce hits the spot. Recommended

    Vegetable Pad Thai
    Lei P.

Stopped by at 8:14pm on a Wednesday night. They had 4 dine-in tables and a couple of takeout orders standing by and a handful of people coming in and out to pick up takeout. Ordered vegetable pad Thai noodles and the portion was great, the amount of noodles to vegetable ratio was generous however, I could immediately smell the hint of something being burnt. Overall, the flavor was alright. The texture was good, but some of the noodles and the vegetables were charred/burnt so it left a mild bitter taste in my mouth, but it was not inedible.

Called to ask specifically for lemongrass chicken, clarified multiple times, and was told they had it. Picked up the order and got plain fried chicken instead. This is not a misunderstanding -- it feels misleading. If you don't have the item, just say so. Very disappointing.

    Eggplant Stir-Fry & Mixer
    Keke K.

The place was nice and cozy. The portions were huge and I got my regular pad Thai, eggplant Thai basil, chicken over rice. Everything was okay not exceptional especially the eggplant basil. I have had better, the eggplant basil just didn't come together. It was a bit of a let down. The servers were nice enough to help us with customization.

    Lad Na
    Manabu S.

This place deserves way higher reviews -- their food is elite compared to so many other Thai spots I've tried. The Lad Na (gravy noodles) might be the best I've ever had -- rich, flavorful, and easy to kick up the heat for that extra punch. The Crispy House Fried Chicken? Unreal. So crispy you can hear the crunch in every bite, and honestly, I could eat just that dish and be happy. The Panang curry is spot-on (perfect with sticky rice), and the cucumber salad is the refreshing balance to all those bold flavors. The space has just a handful of tables, but with how fast the kitchen works, you won't be waiting long. The owner is so sweet too! Love to support family businesses. Will definitely be back!

If you're looking for authentic Lao food, this place definitely delivers. We ordered the Soop Noor Mai (bamboo shoot salad), Lao-style Som Tum, Beef Red Curry with jasmine rice, and Seen Haeng (beef jerky). The standout dish for me was the Soop Noor Mai. It was unlike anything I've had before, with an earthy, herbaceous flavor and plenty of texture from the shredded bamboo shoots, toasted rice powder, fresh herbs, and greens. Every bite had something different going on, making it both interesting and deeply satisfying. The Lao-style papaya salad was fresh, vibrant, and packed with bold flavors. The beef red curry was rich, creamy, and fragrant with tender beef that paired perfectly with the jasmine rice. The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Seen Haeng. While the flavor was good, the beef was cooked a little too long and ended up drier than I prefer. I personally like Lao beef jerky with a bit more tenderness and chew. Everything else was excellent, and the relaxing garden setting made the experience even better. If you're craving authentic Lao cuisine in Honolulu, Olay's is well worth a visit. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu.

This, however, will probably be my first and last visit. The place is cute enough, with a large back garden area where I chose to dine. Service was also great. I appreciate the little button at the table that I could click for service. The food, however, was mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered the pad Thai with tofu, ginger chicken, chicken satay, and pork larb. The pad Thai was the best dish, but it was very tomatoey, which I did not expect. The chicken with ginger had very little chicken. It was mostly julienned vegetables, including celery which I do not care for. The chicken satay was kinda dry and most certainly needed the peanut sauce to make it palatable. The larb was very dry with very bland flavor, served on one lettuce leaf and a wedge of cabbage. How am I supposed to eat that? All of it was quite disappointing, especially for the price point. As I was eating this meal I remembered the Thai food truck at the end of Ward, where Fisherman's Pier used to be. Now THAT was some good Thai food. I guess that was the best thing about this meal-remembering where I could get really good Thai food-so that the next time I'm having a craving, I can go back over there...I hope it's still there.

Service was one of the highlights. The staff was attentive, friendly, and quick throughout the meal. Our Thai tea arrived almost immediately. I'm talking within a minute of ordering. It's definitely on the stronger side with less milk than most Thai teas, allowing the tea flavor to really shine through. It leans a bit sweeter than average, but the sweetness was balanced, and you could genuinely taste the freshly steeped tea leaves. The Thai boat noodles are what this restaurant is known for, so they were a must-order. Since it was my first time trying boat noodles, I figured this was the best place to experience them. I can definitely see why they're a customer favorite and would recommend ordering them if it's your first visit. The beef pad see ew surprised me. It was sweeter than most versions I've had, but it really worked. The noodles were cooked perfectly with great texture. My only complaint was the beef. It was a bit chewy and didn't match the quality of the noodles. The seafood tom yum was the biggest letdown. The broth itself was flavorful, but the seafood selection felt like a frozen mix rather than fresh ingredients. The mussels were already removed from their shells, the squid was chewy, and the soup included canned mushrooms instead of fresh ones, along with fish cakes and fish balls. It lacked the freshness I was hoping for. Overall, I left feeling that the proteins were the weakest part of the meal. The flavors, service, and atmosphere were all enjoyable, but the quality of the meat and seafood didn't quite stand out. That said, it's still a solid Thai restaurant, especially considering the options in Hawaii. Would I come back? I'm on the fence, but probably not

We couldn't decide what to eat until my wife finally said, "Let's go get Thai food at that place my sister and I tried about a month ago." I responded with a "K we go." I figured they were probably getting ready to close, but we lucked out, Siam Garden Café is now open until 10:00 p.m. on Sundays! Awwwwwriiite...!. Since it was later in the evening, there were only a few tables filled, so we were seated right away and had plenty of time to check out the menu. My wife already knew exactly what she wanted--the Thai Beef Salad. I had my eye on the Thai Fried Chicken, and we added an order of Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles). We requested it mild spicy--and definitely not Thai spicy, because we know better! There were a couple other things we wanted to try but we didn't want to overdo it with just the two of us. The food came out fast. First the Drunken Noodles, and wow... that was ono. The thick, chewy noodles reminded me a little of a chow/look fun, tossed in a a sauce with tender beef. Every bite was packed with flavor. Next came the Thai Beef Salad and the Thai Fried Chicken. The salad had that classic tangy dressing with vinegar and fish sauce that paired perfectly with the beef. If I had one small kine suggestion, it would be to add just a little more beef, but the flavors were on point. The fried chicken was cooked to crispy perfection--lightly seasoned so you could actually taste the chicken. Dipped into the Thai sweet chili sauce, you know the one, it was the perfect combination of crunchy, savory, and sweet. Even though we were pretty full, there was no way we were not going to order dessert. We shared the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the perfect sweet and tart ending to a great meal. Last but not least, one Thai iced coffee to go. Yeah it's late but wanted to stay up and binge watch a couple of episodes of a K-drama, don't judge. Overall, Siam Garden Café delivered. Great food, friendly service, quick turnaround, and now with later Sunday hours, it's an even better option when those late-night Thai cravings hit. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu.

Collectively, we ordered/shared: Spicy Eggplant Pad Thai with shrimp Papaya Salad Siam Jungle Curry with chicken Steamed Fish with Soy Sauce I honestly couldn't decide which dish was my favourite, as I thought they were all a generous portion and flavorful. My mom complimented the eggplant and steamed fish repeatedly, and while I also favoured the eggplant, I found myself gravitating to the curry throughout the meal. My SIL also liked the fish and eggplant, while my brother had many good things to say about the pad Thai. We did take some leftovers home, and as we packed up the food I wondered to myself why I hadn't returned to SGC sooner. SERVICE The staff friendly, patient, and very polite. Our favorite Thai food orders include: Chicken Satay, Tofu Pad Thai, sticky rice and yellow curry with a side of a papaya salad. Yum! Parking: If you arrive during peak hours, parking outside the establishment will be challenging. However, parking abounds on the street (metered) and in the bigger lot located mountainside (mauka) of the smaller lot located right outside of Thai Village. Restrooms: They do not have their own restroom; all establishments share the same key-only restroom, located in the center of the main building, ground level.
