    Chicken Lemon & Pesto Gnocchi
    Mia M.

Decent food in a beautiful space even though it's within Nordstrom. Ruscello is a perfect spot for a nicer meal that will please all crowds. They're usually busy, though, so I'd recommend making reservations. On my last visit, I shared a pesto gnocchi and salmon nicoise salad with another person in my party. Both were good (though unremarkable), but the pesto was almost a soup which was a bit strange. The sleeper hit, though, was the shoestring fries. They're good fries and come with a kalamata olive dip that's SO delicious! You have to be an olive lover, but I could've drank the dip on its own. Overall, the food here probably won't blow you away, but it's a reliable spot for a nice meal.

The best thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere! It's got a beautiful view of Ala Moana beach park. The service during our visit was alright, the waiter seemed to be distant with us and all our interactions were quick and to the point, he was polite but not the most engaged with our group. The food was underwhelming. I ordered the pesto gnocchi and it was bland and gummy which was disappointing. I also tried the pizza and It wasnt bad but I didn't love it. My dad ordered the penne and meatballs and enjoyed it.

Had lunch with family and what a treat ! Had reservations so we got seated immediately and a view too! Got our drinks then it was time to tackle the menu! Appetizers- poke artichoke dip and Brussel sprouts! Poke was nice and fresh- a simple but good poke. Artichoke dip served hot and pita bread wedges - very good Brussel sprouts - loved it - a nice char and crispy w/ crispy chicken sausage, really well done Panko chicken salad - good healthy portion of chicken and greens served w/ avocado light dressing a really perfect meal. Cilantro lime salad w/ shrimp- the shrimp was perfectly grilled and the dressing perfect! Will order this again as it's a perfect balanced salad Dessert menu is well rounded but will have to wait for our next visit as the salad is filling. A really perfect lunch with family! A well run restaurant as service is on point and good served quickly. Location is good and parking plentiful. Most of all the wait staff is impressive .

The service was fast and friendly, the restaurant was clean and the view of the ocean was nice. Only thing I would say is that sunset outmatches their shades so if you are sitting near a window, you may get the sun in your eyes/face. Friends and I got together and enjoyed a nice meal. Everyone liked their food and really enjoyed the gelato.

We come here at least once or twice a month...prior to Ruscello Nordstrom was at the other end of Ala Moana Shopping Mall it was not called Ruscello but an open buffet self service restaurant next to the men's shoes department! When I first encounter the restaurant in Nordstrom I was visiting for Tokyo doing my shopping when I came across the eatery first time exhausted before my return. Your restaurant never disappoints!! I bring friends and visiting guests here to eat.

This was my first time here. This place is awesome. Beautiful view of the surf break "courts." Jimmy was very attentive and provided excellent service. All the food was delicious. Just wish the club sandwich bread wasn't toasted. Would have been softer and more enjoyable but that's just me being picky. See pic descriptions for what we ordered. Located above the Foodland farms and across from KHON. Lots of parking at the Ala Moana Mall.

Went to the renovated Ruscello. There is a new seating area extended into the store , close to the baby carriages. I didn't see too much of a difference in the main restaurant besides new carpeting and new seats. The menu seems smaller or maybe just printed smaller. I took pictures below. I ordered the chicken gnocchi with pesto. Yum ....still tastes wonderful....I felt it was a larger serving since I almost could not eat it all like I have done so many times in the past. It seemed weird to be given a diet coke can instead of it being served in a glass. Service was efficient and I still enjoy having meals here.

    Date night!

Tucked inside Nordstrom Ala Moana is Ruscello, the perfect spot for date night! We started with the artichoke spinach dip, which was delicious. I was expecting the usual tortilla chips, but I loved that it came with soft flatbread instead. It paired perfectly with the creamy dip and made the appetizer feel a little more special. My boyfriend ordered the French dip, and it was hearty and very filling. The portion was so generous that we had leftovers to take home. I ordered the chicken lemon pesto gnocchi. The lemon flavor was a little stronger than I expected and overpowered the pesto, but the gnocchi itself was perfectly cooked with an amazing texture that made up for it. Our server was friendly and attentive, checking on us throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and feels a bit more upscale, though it can get a little noisy when it's busy. Overall, we had a good experience and would definitely come back. If you're looking for a nice sit-down meal while shopping at Ala Moana, Ruscello is an excellent choice.

    Margherita Pizza $18
    Ayumi W.

The homemade Margherita pizza had more of a focaccia style bread base and was a light pizza. I didn't mind it and it was simple and good. The portabella mushroom ravioli was very creamy. It was a bit too creamy to finish all at once, but I appreciated the chewy and fresh texture of the ravioli. We sat outside and were able to see the ocean. I liked the atmosphere and the waitress was also friendly. FYI: We went there during lunchtime and it was packed. We were lucky to get a seat without making a reservation, but if you want to be sure, making a reservation would make it more likely to get a seat without waiting. Even though it was crowded, we didn't have to wait long for our food! Margherita Pizza $18 Portabella Mushroom Ravioli $20

    Braised beef sandwich (daily special)

Dined here with former colleagues/forever friends. We ALL had the same thing, this braised beef sandwich on the daily special menu. It was so delicious and tasty. Absolutely filling. We shared a calamari appetizer which was also delicious. Our server was wonderful! The atmosphere was lively. Loved dining here and look forward to returning soon.

They just reopen after short time renovation. I and my friend decided to try for lunch. Highly recommend to make a reservation. When we made our reservation at 11:30, already the restaurant is packed. Looks like their renovation was minor change. They rid of the wall next to the entrance, that area was covered with tape, are they going to expand the table ???I'm not sure. Well, menu is not big change, little bit miner change. But we ordered as usual our regular choice, cilantro lime salad with grilled chicken and grilled shrimp! Our server was very friendly and nice, even the restaurant was super busy. Our salad tasted good and we enjoyed our meal. Anyway, when we checked out, the server asked us pay together or separate, we chose separate. She used the device and finished very quick our payment!

Brownie sundae with vanilla gelato and home made whip cream!
    Daryl H.

It's hard to find nice comfortable ambiance integrated with great customer service and fresh delicious food but Ruscello nailed it! It is better to make reservations, attire is casual. Some Our dishes consisted of Artichoke spinach dip, Chicken Lemon & Pesto Gnocchi, lobster bisque, spicy wild shrimp pasta and the brownie sundae. All delicious popping with fresh flavors but the lobster bisque, artichoke spinach dip and the brownie sundae are a must haves in my opinion. FYI mostly everything here is made from scratch. Very wonderful dining experience and will return to try the other entrees.

If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

Apparently you're normally supposed to put a coin in to open the secret door, but it's broken right now, so the whole vending machine just swings right open. Slightly less secret, but still very cool. Inside is where this place really shines. Moody lighting, a giant orange tree in the middle of the room, Japanese hip hop playing in the background (I want to steal this entire playlist), and extremely cool and friendly servers and bartenders. I've been to a few other attempted "speakeasies" in Honolulu, but most are basically just dark bars with a fun door or code word. Wild Orange actually has the VIBES to make the whole concept work. Definitely worth coming just to hang out and chill. They have a full bar and an extensive specialty cocktail menu. Tried the Purple Dragon, made with ube liqueur and coconut cream. Very sweet--a little TOO sweet for my taste--but tasty and pretty. Probably should have listened to the menu and kept it as a shot, but I wanted something I could sip on for a while and chill. The Umeshu Highball was also very pretty and tasty. My friend who works as a sake distributor was impressed with their selection of good sake, so of course we had to order a bottle. Our server brought it out in an ice bucket, kept it off to the side, and completely served it for us throughout. Very classy. The food menu is fun and creative, but unfortunately not really for me because it's entirely vegan. Most times, but ESPECIALLY when I'm drinking, I want MEAT. Tried the Wild Musubi, a vegan Spam musubi. I'm not actually sure what the "meat" was. Possibly fried tofu? Whatever it was, it was definitely a passable alternative, but would have been 100x better if it were just plain old Spam. It also falls victim to what I find is a common problem with vegan attempts at Japanese food: anything teriyaki ends up being way too treacly sweet without actual meat or seafood to ground it in reality. Also tried the Char Siu Tofu Bao, fried tofu in a red Chinese-style char siu sauce on fluffy white buns. Again, fun and certainly not bad, but these would be 1000x better with actual pork. If Wild Orange had this exact same creative food menu but carnivore edition, this place would probably be 7/5 stars for me. That being said, I know being vegan will actually be a huge draw for some people, and I appreciate that the food is creative rather than just the usual sad vegan afterthoughts. Parking is pretty easy by Honolulu standards. It's inside Hawaiian Brian's, so there's a large shared parking lot. That being said, you might still have trouble finding a spot during peak gym hours since you're competing with all the 24 Hour Fitness customers. All in all, I LOVE this place. Definitely a fun stop--first, middle, only, or nightcap--on a chill night out. Will absolutely be adding Wild Orange into the rotation of places to bring out-of-town guests when I want to impress them with something cool and different. The vegan menu probably means it'll be a couple-times-a-year place for me rather than a regular haunt. But for drinks, service, atmosphere, and pure VIBES? 20/10.

The good: shrimp dumplings! Freshly made, great flavor! Combo appetizer plate was good also. Good quantity. The live music. Good vibes, even tho a little loud. Could be better: wine list was minimal. But I guess you don't come to Hawaii for the wine right? Short rib was one average to small size. Nothing special. I wouldn't order again. Server was ok at the beginning, but not sure why it slowed down so much after about 45 minutes even tho the place wasn't too crowded. Not good: dessert. We ordered the Mac nut espresso cookie. We were thinking it was a cookie skillet or at least a big soft warm and gooey fresh cookie. What we got were 2 thin, small, stale, crispy-ish cookies and some overly sweet runny cream sauce on the side. It took about 20 minutes to get these from the time we ordered them. Not worth the wait. Service got really slow towards 9 pm and the place wasn't that crowded by this point. Overall I don't think we will return. Service was pretty slow at the end and the food was just ok.

I was just skipping around town exploring wanting to check-in to as many places as I could like the responsible Yelp elite that I am and then I find this amazing hole on the wall speakeasy. The lovely gentleman in the front welcomed us in to take a look around and I asked him if I could take photos for yelp and he told me that if I was going to write a review, I had to join them. So of course, I took the invite and decided to stay for a little while. We sat at a nice area. A perfect little place. I just want to take a snapshot and keep it in my memory so I can emulate it and turn it into my home study. I could stay here forever. The vibes were on point. The server recommended drinks that he thought we would like, and we loved both of them. I don't remember what the drinks were called, but mine had a blueberry taste to it, and my friend had a mock tail, but some sort of Yuzu to it. We also shared a $15 charcuterie graze. 10 out of 10 would recommend being curious and opening doors to finding out that there's a speakeasy randomly in an area you never thought would be there. What an amazing experience.

What surprised me most was how good the food was for the price. Usually spots with this kind of atmosphere rely on the drinks to carry the experience, but every dish actually delivered. The chicken karaage was crispy and packed with flavor, the beef takoyaki disappeared almost instantly, and the taro chips with mascarpone were such a unique combination. Between the cocktails, food, service, and atmosphere, everything just worked.
