Here for the Sunday brunch. So good. A million options. My pictures turned out poorly bc my lens was greasy lol. Please refer to the other yelp pics for a much better representation of the offerings lol. Highly recommend.

Today we celebrated my birthday and retirement at Orchids for breakfast. The restaurant is situated along the Waikiki shoreline with a beautiful vantage point for Diamondhead. The servers were so attentive and accommodating, and the food second to none. Our server Tony really went the distance at making our visit a memorable one. We ordered two traditional Japanese style breakfasts, one corned beef and hash with sunny side up eggs breakfast and Belgium waffles. It was all delicious and perfectly cooked. This meal was pricey but worth the experience and fine dining. Tony provided me with a complimentary coconut cake to celebrate my birthday!

Orchids is a beautiful dining experience I recommend for both locals and visitors alike. As long as you come ready to relax and enjoy yourself in calm, elegant surroundings, a peaceful escape from the usual buffet hustle and bustle, you'll love this spot. If you're in a rush or looking for a quick in‑and‑out meal, this isn't your place. This is a classy, refined buffet experience meant to be savored. Service is top‑notch. There's live piano music setting the mood, a full bar, and an exceptional brunch that includes champagne or prosecco, two complimentary glasses of bubbly with your meal! They also offer coffee, juice, or soda to round out your experience. Valet is available. Classy dress code. Ok shorts if nice. Golf type clothing ok. Sun dresses ok.

gorgeous spot for a sunset dinner. view is definitely the highlight, but be prepared for a LOT of bugs because of the location food-wise, everything was fine but very pricey (to be expected from honolulu & hotel dining). appetizers were all not memorable and the seafood was mediocre for a seaside restaurant. standouts were the lasagnette and the tenderloin filet with foie gras!! recommend ordering both to end, signature coconut cake is a must!! so moist, light, and the best part of the meal. yellow fin ahi tartare $32 burrata cheese $28 hamachi $31 sea urchin tagliolini $54 lasagnette $51* tenderloin filet $76* hapu'upu'u $52 signature coconut cake $16* 선셋 디너하기 좋은 곳!!

I've only eaten at Orchids twice for dinner, once for my birthday 2 years ago and just this past weekend for my husband and I's anniversary. Both times made me realize that I need to dine here more! Orchids is located at the Halekulani Hotel on the first floor beneath La Mer. It's an open air restaurant with views of the ocean - very romantic and intimate, perfect for a date night. The menu has both a tasting menu and an ala carte. We chose to do the ala carte and ordered: Prime Beef Filet Carpaccio: This was hands down my favorite dish of the night. The truffle aioli was so delicious and paired perfectly with the carpaccio. Frutti Di Mare "Seafood Medley": I love anything seafood, so naturally I loved this dish. Seafood was fresh and tasty. It was also seasoned lightly so it actually went well with the rich carpaccio. Keahole Lobster Tagliatelle: The server let me know that this dish does have some spice- but I would say the spice was perfect for me! I also loved the taste of curry. I ate the entire pasta which I usually don't do but this was delicious! Also, this is listed under "Mid Course" but this was the perfect size entree for me. Veal Ossobuco Milanese: Wow this was a very rich dish, but my husband said that it was surprisingly easy to eat and super yummy. Halekulani's Signature Coconut Cake: The best cake ever. I'm biased because this was also our wedding cake, but come on. It's fluffy, light, and perfectly sweet. Lilikoi Mango and Acai Berry Sorbet: Their sorbets are made in house and are so delicious! I love to eat sorbet at the end of my meal as a light palette cleanser, and these were great. All in all, I really loved this dinner. Also, the service was great. The food came out quick, and we had a great time spending our anniversary here. I'll definitely be back again soon!

This was definitely an incredible meal. Service was impeccable, wonderful ambiance, and food was perfection. I do think that $25 drinks are a tad too overpriced. Avoid the celery one at all costs! I had the tasting menu and it was too much for me to finish, but I loved every dish. My friend had beet salad, mushroom risotto with foie, beef cheeks. Every single aspect of the meal was perfect. Highly recommend this spot.

I've heard wonderful things about their Sunday all you can eat brunch. I was lucky to get a last minute reservation. However most people book months in advanced. We came on time for our reservation, but it took them 20 minutes to seat us. The seafood, poke, and sushi here is excellent. They also have a carving station and crostini station with amazing spreads and cheeses. The desserts were also great. Considering the price $125, I would expect slightly better service. They were slow in taking our plates away and taking drink orders. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal and would recommend.

Celebrated my birthday with a dinner at Orchids. We've been to the Halekulani for their afternoon tea on several occasions and enjoyed that. This time it was for the dinner. Before placing our orders, we were informed that many of the fish dishes were unavailable as the chef wasn't happy with what was available. We ordered the Prix Fixe and the Tasting Menu to share. After the amuse bouche, started with the Yellow Fin Ahi Tartar - yum! Wish it was a bigger portion as we liked it so much. The branzino was served and so good - crispy skin and the delicate. The seabass was substituted with Mahi Mahi - very meaty. Seems so simple but probably my fave - the tomato soup! The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and very tender. The desserts were a good way to end the meal - their signature coconut cake and The Tropics. Loved the freeze dried lychee. Almond nougat and coffee were the finale. To top it all off, the service was excellent. Nice way to celebrate.

It's amazing to me that it's ben nearly sixteen years since I've dined here. Way too long, given that I usually stay at their sister hotel across the street. I've enjoyed a traditional breakfast with a friend prior to my review in 2010 when I had the pleasure of enjoying their highly acclaimed Sunday buffet brunch, touted as the best in town. During our recent visit, a good good friend invited my frends and me to a weekday lunch here. The greeter led us to a table facing the beach in the outdoor dining area (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=0JulYUA3fCTWfJFj8qqvaA). We were given both the lunch and beverage menus. I started in ordering the Mango Mint Freeze (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=gZ4kJW2TdVrFW92Avs2EgA), Mango, Fresh Mint & Citrus blended. I enjoyed this as it was fruited yet not overly sweet; it was perfect for the mildly balmy afternoon. Our gracious host was helpful in guiding us through the menu, telling us about the staple dishes and actually ordering a few things for us to share and have as starters. We all started with the hamachi crudo (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=NEZ7VEzXcfPZHm25O6O7qg), citrus marinated hamachi, orange supreme, sea asparagus, and pressed watermelon. The combination of flavors meshes well with the tender and it was not soaked or drowning in a sauce as this is relatively dry. She also ordered a side of truffle fries (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=rjLBRPwncnPT2CziuEZDIw) which we munched on before our entrees arrived. We were each given individual ketchup containers to dip. Besides this, we were provided a basket of bread (foccacia, I believe) to accompany the provided condiments (olives, olive oil/balsamic vinegar, and pink salt with butter) that we each got (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=0&select=uYR6aJdhk3jAGNv2N2-Rmg). I trusted our host's selection of the Misoyaki black cod (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=zFWE_w3xOrNbVgnAiul0kA) for my entree, Pickled Hajikami ginger, broccolini; this came with a bowl of white rice which paired well with the tender and sweetly marinated butterfish. This is reasonably priced and, dare I say, it is comparable to my favorite spot in Hawaii Kai known for their butterfish. For dessert, our gracious host suggested that we try their Halekulani's signature coconut cake (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=t2_LyvZ3Ol0JoYpLcHbXDg) and the lilikoi mango sorbet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=9k1EdddsspAYVYgtrmprSg). Both were delicious and hit the spot but I was way past satisfied appetite wise when these came. The dining area was around half full outside, not a surprise given the weather. Thanks to Cherry Ann in welcoming us before taking us to our table. Also big thanks to Dylan who guided us through our meal with a great sense of humor. Biggest thanks to our generous host for inviting us to this wonderful lunch.

It was my birthday celebration dinner, and I had high expectations for this place since I love Lewers Lounge and House Without A Key, also located in the same hotel. We had a reservation right around sunset and were seated at a lovely table close to the ocean. A hostess mentioned she'd bring a small chair for my purse, but she never came back -- not a big deal, but a small miss in service. We started with their famous Mai Tai and a complimentary small bite of goat cheese and focaccia. The appetizer, Kona Kampachi Rosé, was fresh, and the slightly tangy sauce added a refreshing balance. For the middle course, we ordered the Short Rib Ravioli. We expected the short rib to be inside the pasta, but it turned out that the spinach was inside and large chunks of short rib were placed on top. At that point, we realized we should've gone with the Sea Urchin Tagliolini instead, especially since our main dish was a Porterhouse Steak. The Fiorentina Steak (Porterhouse Steak), which we requested medium rare to medium, unfortunately came out more than halfway well done. When our waiter came by, we mentioned the issue. The manager approached us but spoke in a whisper, which made it difficult to hear what he was saying. He offered to remove the appetizer from the bill and provide complimentary desserts and drinks, but never offered to replace the steak. We really just wanted the steak cooked properly, but I didn't want to ruin my birthday dinner further, so we accepted the offer and moved on. Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially for a special occasion. I don't think I'll be returning to Orchids, and my once-considered visit to La Mer is now off the list. That said, I'll continue to enjoy my favorites -- Lewers Lounge and possibly House Without A Key.

It goes without saying that Orchids hosts one of the best Sunday brunch buffets in Honolulu. But did you know that dinner at Orchids is an equally delicious affair with more emphasis placed on quality over quantity? If you said "no," you wouldn't be alone. Until we recently dined at Orchids for a family birthday, we wouldn't have known either. The usual suspects for a celebratory splurge (e.g. MW, Hy's, 53 by the Sea, etc.) had garnered less-than-perfect reviews from various relatives on recent outings, so my task was finding something comparable with a menu sure to please some picky palates. Given the number of reviews for brunch, this review will focus on the restaurant's dinner experience. Orchids describes its evening menu as coastal Italian cuisine with local ingredients--a reflection of the executive chef's Italian origins. When possible, their meat and produce are sourced from farms across the archipelago, and pasta is made in-house daily. Amongst our choices, the standouts were the Kona Kampachi Rosé, Short Rib Ravioli, Lobster Tagliatelle, and Lasagnette. For dessert, Halekulani's iconic Coconut Cake is a must, and we order it whenever we have the pleasure of dining at the hotel. Although we had some very minor quibbles with food (e.g. the pairing of certain ingredients), the general consensus was quite positive, even amongst the picky eaters, and we're happy to add Orchids to our rotation of restaurants for anniversaries, birthdays, and other celebrations. We were concerned that portion sizes might be smaller than the competition after scrutinizing photos on Google and Yelp, but we were pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong: portions for the mid-courses and entrees were equivalent to what might you find at comparable upscale restaurants. The waiter even advised us that the mid-courses were substantive enough to substitute for an entree. However, for a moderately hungry person, I would still suggest ordering at least two items from the menu (i.e. an appetizer and a mid-course/entree). Keep in mind that you should expect to pay at least $100 per person--more if ordering multiple courses and drinks for the entire party. For most folks, brunch will be a better value, if only because the buffet will leave you feeling fuller at a similar price point. If you properly time your reservation, you'll likely be seated at a table with stunning views of the ocean and Diamondhead during golden hour. (The view has always been--and continues to be--one of the most memorable aspects of the restaurant.) And, depending on the date, you might enjoy music and dance from House Without a Key, the neighboring restaurant and bar. Service was impeccable, and staff went out of their way to accommodate dietary restrictions. For example, when the staff was unsure about a dessert's ingredient, they called the off-site bakery to check the ingredients. After a few minutes, they were able to get a response, even as the bakery had already closed for the day. We were impressed by the waitstaff's dedication to ensuring our wellbeing throughout the meal. TLDR: If you're looking to celebrate a special occasion, Orchids is a worthwhile splurge for both brunch *and* dinner.

Wow, what a treat. This is my third time to orchids in the past year. I will visit this place every time I come to Waikīkī. This time we had brunch on a weekday for the first time. Wonderful! The food was amazing, the service stellar, the view unmatched. We had a beautiful view from our table on the patio. My companion had a classic American breakfast. I had Greek yogurt with berries and honey, avocado toast, and Pog mimosas. Perfection!

My husband booked this place months in advance for Sunday brunch. The restaurant buffet is located in a lovely hotel. The restaurant itself is also lovely and good indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside w a light breeze and fans overhead. Thankfully no humidity! The food selection isn't the biggest for a buffet but the quality of the food was excellent. We enjoyed everything we had from crab legs, sushi/poke, ramen, different carved meats, eggs Benedict etc. it was enjoyable and the service was spot on. All the staff was very attentive and kind. There are several steps and/or ramps around the place depending on where you're seated. We were able to bring in our stroller next to our table in the lower outdoor seating areas (steps only, no ramp). Just fyi~ Overall, good meal and lovely service. Would I ever come back? Probably not due to the price... but no regrets trying it out once!

He described everything with such care that it was hard not to order everything! I'd highly recommend a reservation as there was not an empty table the entire two hours we were there. The restaurant is on the smaller side so it can get quite loud but our table had great conversations and a overall lovely time. Appetizer: We ordered the konpachi hush puppies (apologies, they had a nicer name but this is how they were described to us) and they were delicious! I'm not a lover of fish, but these were so flavorful and the sauce paired perfectly with it. Drinks: I had the meringue di cedri to drink and it was akin to a lemon drop (10/10) it was sippable and lasted my whole meal. Husband had the Hana Koa Rice Breaker, which is one of his favorites as its smooth and pairs well with honestly anything. Entree: You will be missing out if you don't get the lemon risotto. I ordered it with the prosciutto and it may be one of the best meals I've had in Hawaii. The zucchini is done two ways in it: diced to be mixed in with the risotto and thinly sliced and grilled on top of the risotto. The panko crumbs on top really solidified the plate for me as top tier as risotto can get to be boring to eat after a few bites as they can lack texture, but not this risotto! Every bite was a journey and it was a very filling meal. My husband ordered the Korean steak and said it was better than some of the local steakhouses we had gone to. Our friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Dessert: We were encouraged to try the Rocky Road ice cream and decided it was a must have when you visit. It was creamy, rich and delectable. We also opted to try the dessert special of the evening which was a Lilikoi cheesecake with a chocolate mousse. The cheesecake had a sour tang to it and the chocolate mousse partner with it to balance it out so it wasn't overly sweet. We loved it and I know in a few days we'll be craving this meal all over again!

France meets Italy - meets Hawaii. I'm still dreaming of this. The burger features a thick, juicy, 8-ounce grass-fed patty made from a custom house-selected blend of short rib, chuck roast, and brisket. Get it with the crispy potatoes. You will thank me. Risotto on point. Luxuriously rich, creamy texture. The rice retains a slight al dente bite in the center, giving it structure rather than letting it become mushy. Prosciutto adds a perfect salty, savory crunch to break up the rich risotto. The only misstep was the fries served with the quinoa burger. They were chalky, served at room temperature, limp, and underseasoned. Excellent friendly informal service. Park at the municipal parking on Bethel St just 1/2 block away. Happy Eating!!

Had a glass of wine and baby had watered down lemonade. Her drinks were put in plastic cups with covers and those horrible paper straws. Eyes always bigger than my stomach, we ordered: - Cornbread - when i grabbed it I thought would be super dense but really wasn't. I thought it was very corny and tasty. Lightly toasted. Honey drizzle which wasn't too sweet...or maybe I just ate the parts that didn't have. Baby ate almost 1.5 pieces and even liked the Jalapeno Butter that I just dabbed on her bread. She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. Other than needing some salt, really good. Choke mushrooms on top. One half was scrawny, but hubs had the other half for leftovers and choke marrow. YUM. - Sunchoke and Brussels - YUM. Baby ate some but was not really thrilled about it. I loved it. - Scallop and Mushroom Risotto - YUM. Delish. Baby liked it too. So much leftovers of everything. Realized when we ate it for leftovers it was all pretty oily and needed a pinch of salt. But otherwise great. Staff really nice and helpful. Love that the place is spread out and open. Bathrooms are not assigned which I'm sure can get gross, but is great to not have to wait for just the women's. There is a big stall which was perf since baby is potty training and had to go #1 and #2! Only thing missing was a hook to hang my purse and her bag. Great dinner...but if anyone is listening...bring back the shrimp and grits!!!

The blue crabcakes were tasty, the…read morescallop and mushroom risotto was just okay and a bit on the watery side and didn't have that much risotto. I am not accustomed to risotto being watery. The smoked octopus was sliced in pieces that were too thick and a little too chewy and the andouille sausage and black pepper overpowered the dish. Ordered the bourbon and bone marrow mostly for the presentation. It was WAAAY too rich and needed more bread to go with it. They should've served it with bread that wasn't buttered because the buttered bread even though tasty by itself was just too rich in combination with all of that bone marrow. The dish needed more balance. The ice cream sundae was unremarkable. Would have preferred it served with a choice of hot fudge or the caramel drizzle and since it was plain vanilla ice cream they could've drizzled a lot more caramel over it. The waitress did bring us more nuts when we asked, but they were busy at the time and she was the only server so it took her a while to get to us, and the ice cream was pretty melted by the time she delivered. We got there when they opened at 5 PM and they had two servers at that time. The place wasn't busy so it seemed like they had enough help for the amount of tables that were being seated. An hour and a half later, though, one server was missing (possibly taking a lunch break) and the only server remaining at several big parties to take care of which slowed down her responsiveness to the other smaller tables like ours. The music playing in the background seemed to fit the environment and was pleasant to listen to. It's a pretty casual atmosphere. The prices for what you get are a bit on the high end. Probably wouldn't go back unless someone else is paying. We didn't feel too bad this time because we had a gift certificate which covered most of our bill. Maybe we were choosing all the wrong items and should have just stuck to ordering meat dishes, which they might be better at making (with a name like Livestock). You'll have to check this place out yourself and see if they do a better job with meat and if the prices for those dishes are more reasonable. I gave this place four stars instead of three because the servers were friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was mostly okay (tasty enough and filling).

This is clearly a popular local coffee and snack shop so I will keep this place in mind since it's locally owned and operated and their decaf is processed via osmosis, not chemicals. The employee took it and immediately hung up on me--no name taken, no "thank you," no "goodbye." When I arrived, the parking was a mess, so I had to be dropped off. Inside, the food display looked sad, and the cashier looked completely miserable and unpresentable. While waiting patiently on the side for 15 minutes, I watched the kitchen staff preparing food. Red flag: they literally microwave their eggs instead of cooking them fresh. After 30 minutes of total waiting time, I finally went up to check on my order, only to find out the cashier hadn't even handed my ticket to the kitchen yet. She sent it back right in front of me without a single word of apology--just a blank stare. I cancelled my order on the spot. Horrible service, zero management, and low-quality food prep. Save your golden time & money and go somewhere else. Definitely not a place where I'd want my food prepared!

We walk in at 9:30. Wait at the host stand and watch workers look at us and quickly turn to look the other way. This happened with four workers. I walk up to a server putting in and order and say 'table for two please' she looks around and back at another workers and says 'sorry we close at 9:30' to which I quickly say 'I thought you close at 10?' And she goes 'the bakery closes at 10' As we're talking every single worker hurriedly walks away avoiding eye contact. So I said again 'the time on the door says 10pm' her response was 'oh no that's wrong only the bakery is open till 10' Next day I go back at 9pm. First thing I ask the sever 'what time do you close?' Lo and behold '10pm' Again I never make it a habit but we would have been out of there before the other tabes were done eating. Long day at work and I just needed fuel.

I'd never been to their other locations, so this was my first experience -- and honestly, it left an impression. That spot in Kapolei has seen a few restaurants come and go over the years. Before Scratch Kitchen, there was Sugar Cane, and if I reach far enough back, I'm pretty sure a Mexican restaurant lived there too. It's one of those spaces where you hope the next place finally sticks. But the food at Scratch Kitchen? Absolutely delicious. The kind of meal where the pictures alone make your mouth water. If "smell‑a‑vision" or "lick‑your‑screen" technology existed, everyone would understand exactly what I mean. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully done, and perfect for a Mother's Day treat. Which is why I can't help but wonder what happened -- like so many restaurants before them in that same location. With food that good, you'd hope they'd be the ones to break the cycle. All in all, I'm grateful I got to enjoy that meal with my daughter. It was memorable, delicious, and one of those small moments you hold onto. Marie

Either way, it made for a super relaxed experience with no wait and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the food. Loved: The street tacos with the tempura shrimp were easily the star of the meal. 100% worth it. Light, crispy shrimp with a flavorful slaw and just the right amount of heat--basically a flavor party in every bite. The burger was another quiet star. Juicy patties, nicely seasoned, and stacked just right. Nothing super flashy, but really satisfying. Definitely a good pick if you're not in the mood for brunchy stuff. The Miss: Tried the French toast and... meh. It looked great on the plate but tasted dry and definitely didn't live up to the level of the other dishes. Might've just been an off day or a matter of personal taste, but I'd skip it next time.

My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.
