Roots on the square in Georgetown had some good BBQ chicken pizza. The queso was okay, same with the burger. The live music was a little too loud (didn't know he was going to be there) but overall pretty good spot.

Food was good We sampled pizza and burgers Beer was ample choices Cannolis were tasty dessert Ambiance was nice Like an old country saloon But the temperature inside the business was awful So hot Sweating profusely I mentioned to the bartender it would be great to turn ac on and she just rolled her eyes and says Yes it's so hot I dunno if they are trying to save money or what but it would prevent me from visiting until January or so Open mic night Was kinda cool Wasn't a great experience but not terrible Sweaty though!

This review is solely on the bar and drinks. Walked in and the food smelled amazing! I wish we didn't eat dinner so we could get a pizza. We just got drinks for the square. The bartender was very nice and put our drinks in to go cups. The atmosphere is very cute and down to earth. They even have live music, there was a band setting up to play.

Well, maybe everyone is tired from the week... It smells like burnt pizza, which they make pizzas so totally likely that is what happened. However, it was noxious!! The cups we were given for our drinks were gross dirty! They kindly wiped out new ones and gave them to us. The Dr Pepper wasn't hooked up, k ky carbonated water, the Lemonade was mostly water and the sweet tea was weak. $3 for waters Meatball sub- cheese and sauce was the perfect temp unfortunately the cold meatball made the sandwich gross. The Korean tacos were a bit anemic but flavor was good. This isn't our first time here and we will be back but hopefully we will have a better experience.

Really disappointed with our dinner experience. We ordered 2 Roots salads, which according to the menu are supposed to come with chicken. When our server brought the salads out, she said "2 salads with no meat". We said that no, we did want the chicken. She said that chicken would be a $4 upcharge. We said that the menu didn't say that, and she offered to bring out a side of grilled chicken to add to our salad. She came back later and said the chef reiterated that the chicken was an upcharge, and she would have to get a card from us to charge for it. By that point we had looked at the menu again and verified that the menu did not specify an upcharge. We pointed it out on the menu, and she then tried to insist that the "C" next to the soup indicated the $4 upcharge for chicken and got annoyed when I asked "isn't that for a 'cup' of soup?" She was quite rude after that, and we told her to forget the chicken. The cashier didn't ask if I wanted to add chicken or specify that it was an upcharge, in fact he barely spoke to me. The salads themselves were disappointing, very little toppings and low-quality greens. We both barely ate them. We definitely won't be returning due to the food, service, and lack of transparency in pricing.

Service was good, one guy seemed to be running everything (bar, taking orders, waiter), I got the trash can pizza (everything on it) tasted pretty good but got soggy quick probably due to all the toppings, my husband got the Korean tacos which he said were pretty decent. There was live music (Sunday afternoon) it was very loud and just ok. Lots of seating downstairs and up.

My first time here but it was an in and out. There looks like they have live music, which is always a plus. It give another pizza option on the square. The pizza was actually quite good! I will definitely be going back!

Service is outstanding, we were greeted and got our drink orders in about 60 seconds after we sat down. Server was friendly, and we had a good visit talking to her when she would stop by to check on us. Our daily special was the chicken and dumplings, and we got fried okra, mashed potatoes, pintos, collards, and gravy between us for sides. Everything was fresh and homemade, and very, very tasty. Good solid country fare. If you're originally from rural vs urban, you'll feel right at home. If you want old time country diner experience, you'll be pleased. Just to clarify, this is a "seat yourself" place, with a LARGE SIGN stating that as you walk in. There is no door greeter/hostess station, and the counter is as far away from the front door as you can get and still be in the same room. (They also have a sign at the entrance about the card fee, like most places do these days). Well worth a return visit!

Some of the menu can be a little confusing. There are some items that come with two sides that do not mention that. And with the burgers you have to pay for sides separately. We opted for a chips and salsa, meatloaf (with greens and mashed potatoes as sides), a burger (fries cost extra), and chicken strips with broccoli and another side that I forgot. Chips and salsa were bad, but salsa needed a little salt. Greens were not fresh, potatoes were bland--gravy not good. Meatloaf wasnt bad. Burger was just okay. Chicken strips were just okay as well. Looks like they have a beer garden outside and being that it is a German/Texan fusion type spot maybe they do some time of events/entertainment...not sure. Would be interesting though. The food was mediocre and bland and the service not that great. They charge a fee to use card--but also do not give the coin portion of your change--which I kinda feel is another fee just to pay cash. Last I checked they still make nickels, dimes, and quarters. This spot is a little out of the way so I don't think that we would return.

Pita came warm and on point. The white bean hummus was recommended, but I couldn't get past the texture and look (reminded me of raw chicken breast paste). We arrived with our two kids, were seated, and waited over 30 minutes without a single person coming to our table not even to bring water or acknowledge us. We eventually had to stand up and leave because no one ever came. Our previous visits weren't much better. One time, there were only a handful of cars in the parking lot, yet the service was still slow. Another time, we actually had to go looking for our server just so we could place our order. This has consistently been the worst restaurant service we've experienced. It's incredibly disappointing, especially when dining with children. We were hoping this place would become one of our favorites, but after giving it three chances, we've had enough. We will never be coming back and cannot recommend it based on our experiences.

I had the opportunity to hit Rocking J Piano Bar and what a night it was! Rocking J is easy to find off the 183 and parking is plentiful, unlike the horrendous parking adventure downtown. The joint is located in a corner unit off Whitestone Blvd and extremely inviting. Music starts a little later at night and if you want a table you need to reserve one. I arrived at 7pm for the 8pm show and there were a few patrons upon arrival. The joint is clean without that beer-stained floor smell and the bartenders are cool and fast slinging suds. Prices aren't bad and all the people that I met were extremely cool, many different ethnicities were hanging out, while the age group was 30+ so it's not the college crowd. The attire ranged from men in tshirts, flip flops, I saw some "typical cowboy hats" and women in shorts and dresses, up to business casual. It's basically a "come as you are" mentality in a very relaxed atmosphere. Please note while they don't serve food, they do allow outside grub, just bring some for everyone, Also the bathrooms are decent not spectacular however you won't need to run down the street. The non-reserved tables are limited and as the show time creeps closer, they start to fill up but there was standing room. The crowd that was there was a pretty lively crew and seemed like pretty decent people. In the corner is a piano and on my night a drum kit. I can't remember the pianist / singer's name but he was really good while the drummer acted as backup, basically enhancing the songs with a steady beat. The guy could flat out sing and I swear I couldn't stump him with my diverse requests. Among the songs were The Cure - Love Song, Alice in Chains - The Rooster, Jimmy Buffet - Margaritaville, Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here. Perhaps the jingle from Sesame Street would have stumped him, but I didn't consider it at the time. Overall, the place feels safe with "good folk" who all just want to have a good time. The staff is friendly and fast and the prices fair. I will definitely be back and hope to see you there!

It was thin and had thick gristle, throughout. I assumed that I would need salt. I asked for flakey salt. The sweet waitress/bartender, brought me kosher salt in a nice container. The salt helped! However, the steak was too far gone to help. It was closer to medium and, again, the cut was bad. (Note: I didn't complain! I'm sure that if I would have, they would have done anything to correct it!) The positives? The green beans were AMAZING! Still a bit crispy and tasted great! The mashed potato's were good. Awful customer service. Especially when making reservations…read more I go here a lot, because I like dry aged steak, but I can't get over the customer service around reservations. As a combat vet, I feel uncomfortable AF eating in the middle of a tiny and cramped dining room. The dining room is so small and packed here that I'm surprised that the fire marshal even allows that many people to be sat in there. Still, when I ask for a booth and say that I don't want to eat in the middle of that tiny dining room when I make a reservation, I find it odd to be sat in the middle of the dining dining room only to see that there's multiple parties that were just sat in booths and haven't even gotten their drinks yet--like, they were just sat before us (and we were on time for our reservation). I think you could have a little more respect for your customers is all. For that reason alone, you're not worth the price of your half-baked pretense in my opinion. You get a one-star for that reason alone. On the quality front, the ribeyes I get are more and more consistently riddled with connective tissue and are hard to eat, with a lot of waste. Not exactly the quality of meat cut one expects for the price. Sometimes they nail it, but I'd say at least a third of the time my ribeyes are almost half scrap. The quality seems to be diminishing since I first started frequenting this place. So, perhaps your supplier sucks. Idk. Pick your meat better if you want to demand higher prices. I think I'll stop coming back at this point. 2020 Market has good steak, too. Only I haven't dealt with so much connective tissue in my steak there. And also, I haven't had issues with my reservations there. So you lose me to your competition after having gotten so much money out of me. Consistent quality and customer service could maintain such consistent regular customers in your sales. What a weird way to lose customers. Your whole business is customer service and cooking food well. Do better.
