Excellent burgers and great tots! Service was good, too. Onion rings were so-so. Had the onion rings been a bit less soggy, I would have rated the whole experience 5 stars. They weren't bad...just a big soggy. Back to the tater tots. Excellent tots that were crispy and tender. The tots were not stale...like the last few times we had them at Ford's Garage. We so wanted to support local but unfortunately this was the first and last time parroting. Went on a Sunday for dinner. Overrun with screaming kids, unbelievably loud, floors dirty and strewn with food and trash. Sat at the bar. Bartender was slow to acknowledge, take order. Food arrived cold. Bartender was slow to pick up payment. She never cracked a smile the entire time. I'd only recommend this place if you want to take your kids out to eat while you can drink alcohol...full bar. read more

My spouse, 2 sons and I had dinner at this Roots location last night and we were supremely let down. The food was ok but not great. Burgers were small and easily forgettable. What made it a bad experience was the overall poor service. Not sure what's going on with the employees but I overheard many of them saying that they don't work at this location and they had to come in to help out but had no idea what they were doing. Very very slow service in every aspect; getting initial drinks and refills, waited a very long time for our food. When we did get our food, they messed up the orders; who forgets to put the chicken on a chicken salad?! We had to wait a long time again for the check and finally for the server to run my credit card and return it for a signature (we're talking close to 15 min just to pay they bill) We had really high hopes for the restaurant as we live near by and have been waiting for a long time for it to open. I think they need to close and try reopening again with a full wait and kitchen staff. read more

Horrible! My vodka martini tasted like my husband's old fashioned ( which only had 1/2 shot of bourbon for $9.00 ) because the bartender does not clean the shaker between drinks. Tenderloin was dried and tasted like it had been reheated for days. The tater tots were cold. AND..not the right music for this type of place in my humble opinion. We're huge burger fans so this seemed like a natural choice for a yummy night out! Service was decent. I could have sworn that they seated a few parties before us that arrived after we did but no biggie. It's a small place so I understand party management is critical. While the food was good, there wasn't a whole lot that was memorable. We started with the fried pickles. The horseradish sauce was awesome, though the pickles tasted like they were of the frozen variety. I was really excited about the PB&J burger and honestly, I couldn't taste the peanut butter and only a bit of sweetness from the jelly. The burger was a bit over-cooked but it was perfectly seasoned and tasted great. The tomato cucumber salad I paired with it was pretty bland. Fries were good, even better when dipped in their horseradish sauce!! My wife had the classic and was bummed when she forgot to ask for cheese. She enjoyed it, cook was a bit over as well but seasoned perfectly. The kids had the tenders and the kids burger. No complaints with kid's burger, they seem to do all their burgers really well. The tenders tasted like they were frozen, quality and flavor was pretty bad. In our family, we love and appreciate food as well as the ingredients whenever we eat so it's always disappointing when places treat kids like they'll eat anything. My wife and I both had their cherry-bourbon cocktail that was quite good, highly recommend! I don't like the atmosphere at all. It is very small and extremely loud... but there is nothing wrong with take out! I got a double burger, fries and slaw. When I saw the burger I thought....damn this is small... but it was very very tasty! I would like the "secret" to the sauce. The cole slaw was very good. My son has had the chicken, fish, and a burger. All have been good. I would not go to eat in, but the carry out is fast. Oh and order online. I googled Roots in carmel and got the number. Love Roots ! Good food and Great service every time! We came tonight on Taco Tuesday! Dave and David were our servers! They were awesome and got our orders right! Servers are all very friendly! Food comes out fast and fresh! Fish tacos are wonderful! Every time I come here I get chocolate milkshake! It's so good! I always drink all of it before my food comes! Lol! Tried calling last night a couple of times to place a pick up order. They would pick up the phone and then hang up. At first I thought it was a phone line problem and I ended up placing an order online. When I got there, there was no one at the front desk. Other food orders were on the shelf but not mine. Stood there for 10 min waiting to see if anyone will show up and then I ended up having to look for a server myself which was suppppppper easy since they were all chatting and hanging out in a corner of the restaurant. Ended up having to wait more time because they had to remake it. You would think because they had to remake a customers order that the servers would make sure everything was correct before giving it to the customer to ensure the best quality of service from this point on but NOOOOOOOOPE. My daughter and I had had a great lunch here. Burger was exactly what I hoped - smashed, crusty, burger seasoned perfectly. Good quantity as well. I had the PB+J burger bacon cheddar jalapeño (no jam, old Scotty's shewman remake anyone?) but even better.The tomato cucumber salad needs some acid and seasoning (this is IN after all) but still fresh. It's a new place and service was a bit spotty, friendly and engaging just a bit slow. No follow up mid meal on refills. We will definitely return and regularly.
