It was not the food- it was the Doordash order. We did not get two items from our Doordash order. Otherwise, the food was good. Had a burger, fries and our little one enjoyed the mac n cheese.

I received an email from Roots stating every night specials. Tonight was a $6.00 burger and $4.00 pint When we walked in, we were handed a bucket of popcorn and shown to our table. The popcorn was good. Like fresh popped without too much salt We were greeted within minutes by our server, George. Definitely an asset to the business. Our friend asked if was old enough to work there Without a second thought he explained that he has been working every job in the restaurant since he was 13. In Indiana you can serve food but not adult beverages. He explained that he had washed dishes, cooked, etc. Did anything he was asked to do He was efficient with our order and really added to our dining experience as we enjoyed teasing him and his response. I had to express proudness of him as I had also worked as a young person Our burgers were awesome. Cooked to perfection, bun was grilled to with the roots brand seared on top. Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and secret sauce. My husband asked what was in it and George replied that it would not be a secret if he told but he could serve it on the side The draft beer menu was about 20 different types and brand. I asked for a taste and was given a juice glass full. The beer was really cold. They had a list of about 12 different beers on tap. Bar atmosphere, lots of tv's and just a fun place Will we go back, you betcha. Will we ask for George as our waiter you betcha

I was a huge fan of Scotty's Brewhouse (IYKYK), so have been anxiously waiting to try Roots for quite some time. The menu is HUGE. I'm a sucker for pimento cheese so anytime that's available I gravitate towards it. That said, I tried the 'Southern Pride' burger (two patties), which comes with pimento cheese, bacon, secret sauce, tomato jam, and a side of fries. The burger was delicious and the fries were crunchy. Quite messy and greasy, but definitely tasty. Overall, I'd definitely come back!

Was in the area and met up with a friend here. Went into the restaurant and people were friendly but they were a lil awkward since they were looking like this was their first job. The workers at the counter seemed to be high schoolers who would have rather not been working (idk maybe it's just the gen z or younger vibe going on). Whoever took us to our table didn't give us enough menus. Beer list isn't readily available along with which specials which is annoying as a consumer. We ordered the tots and it had a tiny hair in it but we didn't mention anything to the server bc I didn't think it was the end of the world but eh gross. Sydney, our server, was nice. However, we never got any side plates, so we just ate out of the dish.

Roots was an unexpected treat. We got in easily on a busy Friday night. There were six of us including two kids. They have an awesome kids menu. Drinks games out quickly and I had a delicious vodka tonic. The servers are mostly young college students that are attentive. They are unusually well staffed. Our server was very friendly. The menu specializes in a version of smash burgers. There is a good selection of healthy options as well. The food took awhile to come out, but reasonable as they were busy. The kids were able to color with complementary supplies. I had the All American burger with a single patty. The burger had a great smoke flavor with lots of lettuce and sauce. The generous helping of fries was perfectly crispy. This was a delicious meal. My husband had to e tenderloin which he said was perfectly seasoned. The kids ate their grilled cheese and fruit but were most excited about the ice cream dessert that followed. The dining room is decorated with historic and current local photos of Carmel. There is a popular outdoor door patio, but we ate inside. The noise level was pretty loud inside with people excited by the weekend. There was high energy all around. The parking lot was actually tight, but we did find parking. I look forward to returning. Roots is a great family friendly neighborhood pub.

Our visit to Roots this time was less than stellar. First we ordered dill chips, they were stellar. However, the rest wasn't. Steak tacos were on special. We ordered them and discovered the menu neglected to mention they were smothered in blue cheese and horseradish. The waiter neglected to mention it as well. We also ordered a fish sandwich and tots with tartar sauce. Tots tasted of salt and the tartar sauce was mostly mayo. Waiter exchanged the tacos for a jalapeño burger, which wasn't all that great. Normally the food and service has been top notch. This time it was lacking. I doubt we'll return.

Stopped by for lunch with some pals, and loved this place! The food was fresh, the service was great. The only thing we didn't like was the Thanksgiving Burger & Mac and Cheese- the turkey patty is very gross tasting, and the Mac and cheese is just plain awful. Please consider changing that recipe because it's terrible. Restaurant was clean and had cute decor. Would definitely come back for anything except for the Mac and cheese.

I had high expectations for this place after I heard it was owned by the same guy who owed Scotty's. Unfortunately, it wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped. The place is really cute, menu is great, but the garlic cheeseburger I got was not very exciting. It just didn't have too much to it, especially for a garlic cheeseburger. Service was good, but our waitress forgot things left and right and we had to keep asking for stuff. We had to ask for drink refills, the side of ranch we asked for upon ordering, then a second time since we both asked for it and she only brought mine. Might be back, but wouldn't be my first choice for a burger.

Still looking for the first experience we had here and it's still lacking. We chose to sit at the bar today. We watched the bartender leave popcorn pails out that past customers had eaten out and I felt bad because the new people just shoved their hands in. We both got the burger special, 1 with seasoned fries and 1 with onion rings. The onion rings were horrible, I don't know if the oil is bad but they had a burnt flavor and I couldn't eat them. My husband said to send them back but I was done by then. The burgers were good which is what saved the night for us.

My friend and I drove an hour from Lafayette to try Roots. I was looking forward to the PB and J with onion rings. After we ordered the waitress came back to say they were out of onion rings. I generally don't like fries or tater tots but tried the fries and was so disappointed. The burger itself was really good but the bacon was slightly chewy. My friend got a side of the tomato and cucumber salad and said it had no flavor. Because the burger itself was so good I would give it another chance if they had onion rings.

Third time trying and fairly disappointed. Megan our server was great. Friendly and efficient. Food was underwhelming. We had boneless wings, onion rings and a cup of chili. Onion tings and wings were warm at best and both were a bit bland. The chili was good but the cup was so very small. Service was absolutely terrible especially for as slow as it was. Drinks and food were subpar and the wait times for food were far longer than the food warranted. This place has good burgers, but it didn't wow me overall. I did appreciate that since the burger patties are smash burger style, you can choose to get 1, 2 or 3 patties on your burger. They have a variety of burger options, from Oklahoma style to PB&J style. They offer other bar food as well; I actually got the fish and chips! The fish was delicious and a huge portion. However, the fries were bland and their famous "fry sauce" tasted like an overly sweet honey mustard. If you're a burger fan, it's worth trying, but expect a typical bar setting with nothing fancy. read more

Service was great. Food was ok. Had a double Hawaiian and would have been better as a single. Too much meat. The sauce was ok but would probably like less or none at all. The rest of it was great. The fish sandwich was bland but big. The mac the kids ate and the mini corn dogs have no taste other than batter. Free ice cream for the kids is a plus. Food is disappointing. Small over-cooked smash burgers not worth the money. Sparse toppings (one tiny pickle, and one tomato slice not even half the size of bun, with sprinkle of shredded lettuce.) "cole slaw" was basically just shredded cabbage no flavor. Don't waste your money here. Totally surprised as this place was pretty highly rated, maybe nice to hangout at bar but food is definitely sub-par. Won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more

My granddaughter and I tried to go Slapfish on Gray Rd at 12:15 on a Friday but there was no place to park so I headed on down to Roots, also on Gray Rd. Plenty of parking here and I got a spot directly in front of the establishment. If management is reading this review, I have a suggestion for you. Add free WiFi for your customers. T-Mobile's network doesn't work in this area even with two bars showing. Despite what their commercials and propaganda say their cell network is inferior. I wanted to write my review, or at least make some notes, but without service, Yelp ceases to function. This is a nice place with a lot of screens tuned to a lot of variety. My granddaughter was even pointing out some interesting stuff to me on the screens behind my back. Seems like a beer drinker's haven with many options. I can't drink alcohol due to medications. She is a chicken person and they had a lot of options for her to order chicken. She played it safe and ordered the Chicken Tender Basket with Fries. She ate half of it which is saying a lot for a preteen being self conscious of her weight. I took the rest home and had it for dinner tonight. I decided to try something new so I went with the Philly Wrap and Tater Tots. I always seem to order the messy to eat stuff. With the melted cheese and a huge pile of beef it was a bit of a challenge but thankfully they provide rolls of paper towels on each table. It tasted very good. The caramelized onions did the trick I'm sure because I couldn't stop eating it when I filled up. The tater tots were the same thing. Cooked so perfectly it was like eating popcorn which by the way they provide a small bucket of as an appetizer. Too many places over cook their tots but Roots has it down so they come out lighter. read more

We grabbed carry out from here last week after having a burger craving. The location of Roots is great and has been a long awaited opening. Plenty of parking. It was a quick pick up and it smelled amazing!! We also picked it up around 10 pm and it was still pretty crowded in there. They have a huge menu... so I'm sure absolutely anyone could find something they'd like. We got just the American burger and it was good! Pretty standard and nothing crazy (there's plenty on the menu that have combinations you've probably never heard before). Fries were good, again pretty standard. Overall, we'd stop back in! Visited this location last night and it was packed! We were greeted immediately by the friendly hosts who accommodated us by pulling up a chair to a table to fit our family. Our server, Brittany, was incredibly friendly and answered all our questions. I saw servers out helping guests my entire visit. The whole atmosphere seemed quaint and happy. The food was delicious!!
