(Seasonal) Lemon Chicken Salad (half size!)
    Kristen B.

Arrived late on a Saturday, and kitchen still open! Don't let the name fool you, as I was hoping for a salad & cider--I was not disappointed! Menu variety was nice, and seasonal specials as well. Full bar in addition to their Big Lug products-would definitely return! Service efficient & friendly.

This place exceeded my expectations! Overall, the food was delicious and the indoor/outdoor element they provide is awesome. I ordered the 12 wings, 6 spicy garlic and 6 hot. The spicy garlic had great flavor and I would go with these for all of the wings next time. The hot wings definitely had heat, but hardly any flavor to the sauce. They were still good size wings, while not being overly large where you get the fat and grizzle. Highly recommend the wings. The cheese curds were the hit at the table. They come out hot, they portion size is definitely shareable among 3-4 people, and the flavor is outstanding. It's a perfect starter. Others at my table got a fish sandwich, which I believe was the weekly special at the time. They loved it and said they would come back just for that. The weekly special rotates and items come on/off the menu, so if you see something you like posted, be sure to come in and get it! You can sit inside or outside. Either way, there was plenty of staff waiting tables. The staff is very friendly and very helpful with any questions on the drinks or food menu. Come check out Big Lug Canteen! I would think this place gets packed on your favorite team's gamedays.

The service here is absolutely amazing and the staff brings a real family make yourself at home vibe. Be sure to go upstairs and check out the brewery! The food came out VERY quick. It was also incredibly fresh all around and absolutely delicious. Price was very fair for the large portions. 10/10 will come again.

I didn't come here for months after 1 bad experience with my food and my opinion has completely changed. I've been back 3x and Everytime has been 5 stars and my friends all really loved their food as well. Every staff member I've encountered was nice, food comes out quick, the restaurant offers seating upstairs if you're over 21 that's really cool and the patio space out back is large and good for groups. Plenty of seating. The Willie's salad is a 10/10, I got the full and was stuffed, but there was still plenty for my husband to eat. I tried his Philly cheesesteak (which I typically hate) and it was actually delicious. I was shocked! The hand cut fries are crispy in a good way and they have plenty of tasty dipping sauces to choose from. In addition to all of this, Big Lug offers daily drink specials and a lunch menu. Service & food have been so consistent this might be my new go-to spot for taking visitors!

Heat Advisory and all of a sudden people don't want to sit outside? Folks spend the preceding 100 days complaining about how cold it is and this is how we respond? I'm not mad, just disappointed. Snagging a table in the back, our biking triage nursed cold adult bevvys in peace for the duration of our stay. In past visitations, this patio is one of high pedigree, so we soaked up our exclusivity. Doubling down on specials, I snagged a Tenderloin for a tenner alongside my pale ale. Trying bites even beyond my plate brought the realization that Big Lug is solid, not spectacular. Dust off those tricycles and come share an outdoor beer here!

Nashville hot chicken tacos, hot honey Brussels sprouts, a flight of beer, chicken tenders & curly fries.

The beer is solid. I love the throwback in Topanga. The Nashville hit here is legit hot. Kiss of death stuff. The curly fries are epic good. Next time I'm going for something a little more mild and a HUGE order of curly fries.

Big Lug has a really cool industrial vibe with a relaxed feel. It's one of the few places my wife and I go to fairly regularly. Tonight I got the pizza and it was honestly awesome -- super crispy pepperonis and great flavor. Only downside is it's a 10", and I definitely could've eaten a bigger one. The salad was fine, not amazing. I also tried the Nashville chicken and even the mild was way hotter than I expected. Their beer lineup is great if you're into IPAs. I had the Goat Ranch and really liked it. Service was solid. They checked on us just enough without being annoying. All around, a good spot I'd go back to.

Service was great, waiter was always checking on us. The place was clean and had a nice friendly atmosphere. The menu had plenty of good options to try from I decided on the Willie's Special. I wish the chicken was a bit crispier and had a little more sauce to it. The fries were much better than I expected and were really good! I'd like to try the wings next time I go.

Came in here for dinner one weeknight with a friend. We had wanted to sit outside, so we let the host know. He told us we could head upstairs and thru that bar area to grab a table. We followed those instructions and got a table no issue. We waited and waited for quite a while and no one came to greet us. My friend went inside and found an employee. Turns out no one told her we were there and generally the host seats you. She was very friendly and willing to make recommendations. I went with the Philly. It was good but almost too cheesy. The fries were great. My friend had ordered nachos and they forgot some toppings. When it came time to pay there was an issue with the credit card machine and it took awhile to get our checks and a box in the first place. I would give them another try.

The family and I stopped in for dinner on a Sunday night around 6:30 for the first time. The location is great and it's so cute inside, we didn't go check out the beer garden it was just to hot. We waited a little for a host to greet us, we had limited places to sit since we had minors with us. Hubs and I order off devour menu, and it was obvious the items had been sitting precooked for a while they were very dry. The portions are huge so I would suggest splitting anything you get. Best bites were : beard pudding and crab Rangoon. We had enough leftovers for 3 more meals

Big Lug is right in our neighborhood and we've been a handful of times. In past visits we've had Ok service and Ok food, but we wanted to give it another chance because the patio area is fantastic and we do love the beer selection. I'm happy to report that our visit recently had both excellent service and food! I tried a black and blue wrap and my husband ordered the Caprese Ledecky special. We each had one of their seasonal beers that were on special. The food came out hot and was delicious, I especially appreciated the wrap which was well constructed and used a traditional flour tortilla that held all of the ingredients nicely. The patio right off the Monon is really a nice spot with tables and umbrellas and is dog friendly!

What a great night spent on the patio. We arrived around 7:30 on a Friday night, and made our way to the patio. It's honestly kind of a pain in the butt to have to walk around the whole building from the parking lot to get to the patio- definitely should be a way to access it from inside the restaurant. Not too busy on the patio, so we were seated quickly. A live band started playing shortly after we sat down which was nice for the warm evening. Service was a little slow throughout the night, and our waitresses wasn't the most outgoing with us. The food came out less than ten minutes after we ordered- we were surprised when we saw it coming because it was lightning fast. The food was really good. I started off with a house salad. I don't think it was worth $5.49 for the amount you get, but everything looked and tasted fresh, and the vinaigrette was a nice touch. I had the Cuban for my main. I enjoyed the pork belly on it- somewhat unique. Overall, I would definitely get it again. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I was able to upgrade to poutine fries. Instead of having to order a big appetizer for just two people of the fries, it was nice to just get a side order- and they definitely don't skimp on the toppings either. Overall, I would give the food a 4.5/5 for taste and pricing, and service a 3.5/5.

We've come here a few times and sat outside with our dogs, but this was the first time sitting inside at the bar. Good vibes only here :) there were two bartenders that were easy to talk to and came to check on us periodically. We came past 8:30pm for their late night menu. Everything is 4 and 5 dollars. We ordered the gunslinger slider, the bagel bite (love it on an everything bagel), a blackened shrimp taco (good, but too much avocado in there for a small taco), and the wings (3 in an order $4, and I got the spicy garlic sauce on them). This is a great way to get some tasty, cheap food. Each person could get 2 or 3 dishes for under $15 and be full. We also got a couple beers and I tried their Severance (!!!) themed cocktail Ready, Aim, Fire and it was so dang good. Would definitely come back here :)

I did see they allow you to make reservations on Open Table, so I booked it for a weekday to try it out. It wasn't nearly as busy as the parking lot looked, there was plenty of seating. It was a nice day so they had the windows open and they also had someone playing live music so it was a tad loud but, not overly loud where you can't hear your conversation. The menu is not your typical menu, it's very crafty if that's a word. The service was very good, and she explained the menu well and we took her up on her recommendations. Turkey pastrami which I had never had before. It tastes really fresh and felt healthy. The salad comes in a little small bowl but full of goodness. It's a really nice place for a girls night out, or a family dinner. Wouldn't consider it a good place for date night as it is pretty loud.

The restaurant is located on the second floor. The first floor has Pickleball courts. Upon walking in the restaurant it is quaint with as full view of the courts. No one seated me since it was a group gathering. I looked over the menu and identified what I wanted to order. I started with a fresh shrimp salad that turned out to be super good and fresh. It was more than enough for two people to eat. I was in the mood for wings and fries and they did not disappoint. The wings were seasoned and fried just without the burnt taste. The fries were equally good and had a unique seasoning that was pleasing to taste. One of the best kept secrets as this restaurant has not been opened long. This is great gathering for family and friends especially if you want to try pickleball and eat. I will definitely add this restaurant to my list. Sorta located in a strange area due to construction but can easily be found just be patient.

We had the crab cakes and crab & artichoke dip for apps and our lunch entrees were the fried catfish sandwich with fries and the filet with mashed potatoes and collard greens. For bevvies, we tried their rosé and red zeppelin English ale. All of it, every bit and bite, was 10/10. Food breakdown: - Crab cakes: succulent lump crap meat within a lightly battered and flash fried coating. They come on a bed of arugula with a light dressing and dipping sauce for the cakes. Super yummy! - Crab & artichoke dip: ooey gooey deliciousness, perfect balance of cheese sauce too. You don't have to search for the crab or artichokes. And the fried naan chips were sliced long and thin, and could've been called naan fries actually. Perfect companion for the dip. - Fried catfish sammich: the piece of fish was huge and the batter was good. It came on Texas toast with fixins and tartar sauce. Won't lie, the only thing I wanted for was some hot sauce. That's a me problem... just gotta have hot sauce when I eat fried fish but I didn't ask for any while I was there (they may offer it) and still very much enjoyed the sandwich. - Filet: it was great... hubby got it medium and it arrived perfectly cooked. The Demi glaze sauce was so good and so were the sides. Their collard greens are seasoned up! I said does my auntie work here?! This cuisine is so comfortingly southern and didn't disappoint. Shoutout to our friendly and helpful server, Dan... our food and drinks came out quickly and so did our to-go box. His service was truly top notch. We have been living in Carmel for 5 years and this is one of the best restaurants here. If you're on the fence about trying this place, jump off and make a reservation. You won't regret it.

This place is small...much smaller than I had imagined. In my opinion, there isn't really a good seat in the house, literally, because the restaurant is a converted home in a residential setting. Each and every table is either by the front door, near the kitchen, or restroom-adjacent. It also seemed like they were having some plumbing issues or something, because one area was blocked off making the seating situation even more limited. It was nice out, so we probably should've dined on the patio. Our server never introduced himself by name, so I didn't learn that tidbit of info until we got the bill. We ordered the deviled eggs flight, which he told us that he couldn't tell us about because "it's different every time". He did check for any allergens, which was thoughtful. The deviled eggs themselves were very much a blank canvas and the toppings were the entire show. Server asked if we wanted to play egg roulette or if we wanted him to tell us what they were. We wanted to know, so he pointed to each...extremely close, and I was so distracted by his finger hovering so dangerously close to my food that all I heard was "chimichuri". I have no clue what the others were. Oh, I think one was chili crisp! I also had the crab cake and loved the aioli that it was served with. My husband had the BLT, which comes with an egg on it and is served on Texas Toast. He's not a fan of Texas Toast, but he enjoyed the sandwich. If I were rating this on food alone, it would be 4 stars, but the cramped atmosphere and level of service brings it down to a 3 for me.
