I recently ordered a medium Good Mojo drink along with a party-size hummus and veggie platter and unfortunately the experience was pretty disappointing. The hummus was extremely watery--more like a soup consistency than the thick, creamy hummus I expected. It made it difficult to enjoy with the vegetables or chips. Speaking of the platter, for something labeled "party size," there were surprisingly very few vegetables included. Instead, it came with a large amount of chips. I was also expecting multigrain chips based on the photo but they were just plain tortilla chips, which wasn't what I had in mind. The Good Mojo juice itself tasted good, although it was served warm rather than chilled. Overall, for the amount I spent, I had much higher hopes for the quality and portion balance of what I was getting. It just didn't feel like the value matched the price. read more

A whole lotta greens, straight to the dome. I got the Kale Kraze Salad (quinoa, almonds, cranberries, avocado and kale marinated in olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper). The salad came with a lemon garlic dressing on the side, which I didn't pour over the salad, but instead dipped forkfuls lightly into the cup. The salad was huge! There was no way I could finish it, and I didn't. But it was satisfying and made my body feel oh-so good, the way that a body feels good when eating whole foods. Roots Market Cafe has a lot of nourishing options here. I had a hard time choosing what to get, because they have so many tasty-sounding options. Most (all?) of the menu is either vegetarian or vegan, and they offer salads, wraps, smoothies, juices, and a selection of baked goods. This place is also a little market! You can find fresh produce here -- I saw sweet potatoes, broccoli, zucchini, ginger root, bananas, pineapple, berries and other things. They also sell alternative milks, mushroom coffee, organic eggs, kimchi, vegan snacks, and things I have never seen, like vegan marshmallows and vegan marshmallow cream. Who knew that existed? I got my salad to go, but they have a dining room where you can sit and stay a while. I've had this place bookmarked for a long while and I finally decided to stop in today. I ordered the going green juice which contains cucumber, cilantro, celery, kale, lemon and apple. It was quite tasty and very fresh. The store is clean and nicely decorated. There are even a few spots to enjoy a quick lunch. I couldn't give five stars because while the service was cordial -- upon arrival the cashier had a lengthy conversation with a patron. I felt ignored, which I was. She could have acknowledged me by saying she will help me in a moment. But she didn't. She continued a conversation for quite some time; so long I almost decided to leave. I love this place. My daughter has a dairy intolerance so I can't have any dairy since she's breastfed. This place has so many delicious smoothies, meals, and treats to choose from. The treats are always different day to day. Everything is also made to order so it's so fresh! The workers here are also so kind. They're so helpful and always have positive attitudes which is great. Its a cute place to hang out with a friend, a date, or even your kids. I definitely recommend anyone giving it a try. Only complaint i have is parking. But it's downtown so terrible parking it to be expected from time to time. read more

Holy cow!! So tasty! I moved back to NWI from the west coast after being there 10 yrs. this place's wraps and oat milk lattes can def hang with the best of them back home :) found this place on a fluke. Beautiful sitting area, nice AC and I felt very comfortable seeing the LGBTQIA flag in the window too this made me feel so much better to return to this part of the country. One of the best places on my visit of Downtown Valparaiso. I absolutely love the store and the dining area. They promote tons of local happenings too! My daughter and I came to visit from California and absolutely love the midwestern version of an organic cafe and market. We got the apple walnut salad and bean soup to share. The soup was phenomenal, chips were crispy, and the salad nicely paired with a handmade dressing. Food appears to be seasonal, which is why the menus vary on website. Wish I could give less than one star. My parents were so happy to bring me home gluten free and vegan goodies, and were assured they were gluten free as I have terrible reactions to gluten. I had a bite of a blondie and half of a cookie, and within an hour, my entire abdomen was swollen as if I was 6 months pregnant. It was incredibly painful, and clearly there was gluten in the products. This is the reaction I have to gluten. I contacted the cafe via their Instagram page to alert them that the products were contaminated, and the photo attached is the response I got. I am disgusted, to say the very least. The job of a restaurant is to provide a pleasant eating experience, not try to tell me that I'm wrong about my body. I eat chia seeds regularly. My diet as a vegan contains a lot of nuts. I know my body, and this is a hazard to others with a gluten sensitivity or celiacs disease. Also, the phrase "our facility does not have any gluten or wheat products of any kind" is incredibly ignorant. Wheat is not the only producer of gluten. This ignorance is dangerous and can seriously hurt people. read more

Loved every sip of my juices and smoothies I had from roots. I started with a ginger shot then worked my way to the blueberry likon then in the following day I had the pina berry, orangecicle and viva la verde. Everything was delicious except the berry bliss smoothie that tasted sour so I'm guessing the berries were bad in that batch so I threw that drink out. Besides that all the juices and smoothies I've tried were very good and since it's be only fresh juice spot in Valpo it's your beat choice lol. The food is clean and I always leave feeling great. Usually when you eat out, you leave feeling bloated and overfull.
